Episode 2: Arklay Renegade
)(Chrysil has entered from Construction Site, City Centre.)( Time: 03:42pm The walk wasn't that bad, it only too a generation or two to get through. Chrysil admitted she was a little puffed from the fiasco, it had been a while since she crossed half of Raccoon entirely by foot, twice as long since crossing the entire city itself. They remained safe the majority of the time, save for a few stragglers they came across and only dispatching them when they were cornered or in close quarters; nothing Chrysil wasn't already used to. A lot of the Downtown and City Centre had been damaged though, Chrysil and Kaz found themselves finding routes through buildings and totalled parkinglots; it was madness. Gave her a good workout though, Kaz didn't seemed to be phased at all however; in fact it looked as if he could walk around Raccoon City several times an not even need refreshments. Either way. They were entering suburbia now, and even that was dwindling, trees were more frequent than Raccoon Park as a whole. Chrys requested a couple of stops on their way out to check a couple of the houses and find some food considering they might possibly miss the opportunity to catch her friend the first night, she also found a neat little Miku Hatsune anime pillow while going through one hold; recalling having to rest her head on sticks and stones the last time she did something like this. She tied it fast to her backpack, feeling little weight from it; it didn't get in the way much either thankfully, 'Seriously though, I need this freaking pillow,' she thought to herself, considering the hard rooftops she'd slept on nights before. Comfort was almost a misnomer when it came to living in Raccoon City, you came to longing it after a while but give it a little bit more time and you get used to all the crap you have to put up with; when you find something like this though, you went with it. Chrys looked over to Kaz, "Not getting worn out from all this walking are ya?" she asked with a laugh at the end, "Me? Oh, I could do this all day," she then continued as if Kaz had already asked her the same question in return, it was clear that Chrysil was becoming puffed though, 'Just a little bit further,' she urged herself. Small talk was in order, a lot of the traveling being shrouded by silence, "So, Kaz, what did you do back in Japan?" Chrys asked, then decided to rephrase, "Or, what do you do in Japan I mean..." his parents where involved with business, surely Kaz wasn't that much further down the ladder, but just in case, "You aren't an athlete or something? I never realized how big the Parkour thing is over in Japan, I figured it was more of a car thing for dudes over there, and drift racing... never been to Japan," Chrysil giggled, "It's only now I realize that. Jeez, I bet there's heaps to report on over there what with the constant quarantines and lockdowns; curfew time would be dangerous though. The Private Military Company in operation over there would probably mistake my camera for a weapon... all in a days work in the end I guess," she looked at the ground, "But you can't live without a little thrill,"They were crossing a park, both slowing down simultaneously. Chrysil looked over to a swingset fixed over sand; a body sat on one of the swings, a little girl; he body had been burnt severely but she still had strands of hair and dried skin remaining plus pieces of clothing, "Oh wow..." Chrysil approached the sand ring, kneeling down on the brick border and looked at the girl from a distance. There was sand over several places of her body, someone had done their best to put the fire out on her but didn't succeed. The Samsung was raised, and Chrys took a couple of pot shots at the girl while picturing how it could have happened; flaming debris flying everywhere, some psycho with molotovs ran in and threw bottles about with little concern to everyone. She stood up and stepped closer to take a better look, but a part of her held back and told her to steer clear, 'Yeah... I already captured her in my camera, there's not much more I can do,' Chrysil considered burying the girl, but that would simply be hyprocritical as it would end up reflecting on every other dead body she had come across. The story behind that little girl captivated her so much. She switched off the camera and continued, letting the image drop from her head. Chrysil breathed out generating myst, it was from the Arklay Forest and its cool environment it created, "We're in South St. Michael now. This place was left untouched the most by the outbreak when it occured in the Northern most areas of Raccoon. People were evavuated or ran into the forst getting themselves lost, whoever was left moved into the city centre hoping for protection but only met a wall of the undead. This place, however, is a ghost town. The likeliness of spotting out a zombie is low so plenty of survivors bunk down around here, I'm pretty sure there's some group that have wholed up in a small apartment block, got a vegie patch going and everything. They plan on keeping it that way until everything else disappears; I don't blame them, sounds like some kind of bliss to me. But... it's just not my style, and god knows where the haven is exactly. Hate to think how they go without a net connection though," she had found herself rambling, the talking staved instanity though so she didn't have an issue with it, "If you ever wanted to find firearms too just hitch over to New Prague, huge firefight erupted there months ago between two forces, plenty of casualties. It's funny really, they clear out the dead in case of reanimation, but they don't bother picking up all of the weapons. See, it's just extra weight, and the firearms are replacable anyway, so they sit there waiting to be picked up. Same goes for just about any firefight you can think off. Bound to be plenty of rifles over there that people don't know about,"Finally came the sight that Chrysil was waiting for, 'Thanks for visiting Raccoon City!' ... or 'Welcome to Raccoon City!' if you were entering from an adjacent town. They were getting closer to their mark, "All of this was turned into a military high way when the T-Virus hit Raccoon, trucks came flooding in from Illinois to start clearing things up, and I caught it all on camera. I got some footage too, I counted the trucks. Three hundred and seventy two! Would you believe it? Each truck filled with two dozen soldiers. It was war as nobody had seen it, for a while anyway. That was definitely a key witness in my life, I'd seen nothing like it. Just sitting, off from the road in the bracken and flowers watching as all of these military vehicles drove past. I was spotted, but it's not like I was all that important for the situation, so they just ignored me," after walking down a bit more of road, only trees sitting either side of the bypass highway, Chrysil pointed out a particular spot at the side of the road in the trees, "Just there was where I camped for three days hearing gunfire and explosions, you could even hear screams it was that bad. I gave it a little longer before I decided to head into Raccoon, I knew for a fact that survival rate would be ten times lower going in there with the military. It's a memory I'll never forget," she reflected on it, coming to terms with how much she'd witnessed in such short time. It was late in the afternoon when Chrysil ushered Kaz off of the road, "This is where we get off, Kaz," she said, gesturing towards the trees. Chrys disappeared among them and found the narrow track which had been created by those who lived here, "The area is in pretty good knick, we won't get jumped here, we've probably been watched since we left suburbia. You can remain uncomfortable, but there's nothing to worry about; just please don't karate chop the guy who shakes your shoulder,"Chrysil looked up at the trees, keeping vertical; straight away both of them had been covered by a massive, green, thriving canopy. More of a walk inwards and eventually they met a clearing in the dirt path, Chrysil tapped her foot around the spot pretending she knew what she was doing, "Yep, this is the spot, now we wait," she said, looking at her watch, "We have a while, but they wouldn't leave us too long unless they were busy. Then we'd have to wait 'till night fall again," she explained, throwing her backpack down and stepping out into the ferns slightly pushing them out of the way. Chrysil picked up an arm full of stones and brought them back to the clearing, another trip and it was an armfull of twigs and dead grass. She set the stones in a ring and dumped everything else in the middle, smacking another two loose stones together several times until a spark flew onto the grass and flared up a little. Chrys blew on it until she felt comfortable enough that it would take care of itself. Chrys rolled onto her back, resting her head on the pillow, "Just so you know, when my friend comes; chill the f*ck out, I got this. It's gotta be the fifth time I've been here now," she briefly explained before pulling her notebook out of her backpack and flipped it open on her stomach, tapping away randomly in word documents. Most of all, relaxing.

)(Kaz has entered from Construction Site, City Centre.)( Kaz walked along with Chrysil. The walk really was no sweat for him. He helped check out various houses, though he found nothing. He saw that Chrysil had found a pillow, which made him smile. She deserved that small comfort. Kaz had already gotten used to seeing the odd corpse in Raccoon City. He was glad he had 'stretched out' before as the walk was quite long. "Or, what do you do in Japan I mean..."Kaz waited for Chrysil to finish her little talk about how she assumed it was all cars before answering. "Well, I didn't really do anything. Well, I did nothing. My Father was always veering me towards business, to the point where I had all the right degrees. But I just never had the flar for it he did, so I ended up never getting a job. So I took up most of my spare time doing martial arts and parkour." He smiled for a moment as he had something he could be proud of. "Master of empty handed Wushu. Also a master of Choi Kwang Do. I also practiced Parkour, shooting, but that was only briefly. I also had some kendo sword training." He smiled again, recalling various happier memories of him and his friends just hanging out, practicing martial arts and just living life. Kaz felt quite uneasy when she took pictures of the burnt-out corpse. Despite the fact that he had already killed another human within about 5 minutes of dropping into Racoon, it still made him feel ill seeing Chrys taking pictures like that. When they continued Kaz listened eagerly to everything else that Chrysil said. It interested him that some survivors had buckled down and started to grow vegetables and make an apartment block comfortably livable. If he did not have the mission he did, he might have been tempted to join them. He was also glad that less zombies were supposed to be here, as killing did come easy to him, but he did not enjoy it. He heard Chrysil mention firearms and althought that was a possibility for him to go get a rifle, he doubted it as he hated the increased weight, and guns just were not his preference. Once they reached the clearing and Chrysil made a fire, he just sat down next to it, relaxing. Even he had gotten a little out of breath from such a walk. He listened to Chrysil and decided he would not bother her 'friend'. Kaz took his gun out of his holster and unstrapped the holster, putting it to one side so he could relax easier.

Time: 011:13pm Their approach wasn't even heard, that was just how good they were. They'd spent an hour or so just watching the two survivors and querying whether or not they should approach, but with Chrysil there it was no issue. Several muzzles were slowly lowered to Kaz's stomach, loaded with rocks and prepared to wind him if he chose to be hostile. A cold hand touched Chrys' shoulder. She startled awake, like every other time, it's not something she'd ever get used to. Her eyes looked up to see a mans face looking back down at her, "Might as well just give you the keys, you frequent that often," he said to her, "Ged'up, we haven't exactly sweeped this spot fer ghouls yet," he said dark but calm, almost in a matter-of-factly way; asin, you could have been eaten in your sleep, but whatever, "C'mon, gears in action please,"Chrysil stood up and saw all the other members surrounding them, weapons pointing. They weren't intent on killing them in anyway, as a matter of fact it was just obligatory; the majority of the men and women standing about knew they didn't have to be flailing barrels, and didn't even want to point them at a human being anyway. It was purely for the worst case scenario, "Kaz," Chrys said whether he was awake or not. All of the people around them were wearing camo-garb; they looked more or less like a typical militia would, red vests and caps, but they were all unique in one way or another, "Okay," the man said, looking between Chrysil and Kaz, "Lets go," and with that they all piled out from the clearing heading deep into the Arklay forrest. "Ivan Broderick," the man introduced himself to Kaz after Chrysil explained that he was with her and what he was here for, "Less and less people coming in to Raccoon these days," Ivan said, "The people of the Renegade will be enthralled to see a new face about,"Chrysil sighed, turning to Kaz while they trudged through the flora, "Ivan is usually a little vague when it comes to explaining the Arklay Renegade," she bared herself for a long explanation, "After the first outbreak, there were a lot of people who believed something on that scale would not occur again, at least not for a long time. There were others though, a little more pessimistic after the world wide gout, who put their money together to create a quiet haven where people could live in peace. Rules were enforced though, and only a select few people were allowed in. They chose the most remote locations and built their own little piece of civilization where they couldn't be touched,"Dirt again, they had moved off of the grass. Chrysil looked up to see the wooden walls merged with surrounding trees, the entire thing was built against a cliff face; she felt warm again knowing there were dozens of people like her inside, "In collaboration the people all built a place to stay where people wouldn't find them and where zombies would merely walk up to, turn around, and walk off. Ironically one of the most secure locations was the one closest to home, and Ivan heads it. It's been like this for a couple of years now, the entire idea started two years after the cleanup; but there's a guarantee that where ever you are in the world you might fall into the hands of a place like this," she smiled as heads popped up from behind the wall, both limply aiming weapons down but holding off once they noticed who was approaching, "It's not without its own technology though, most people here are doctors and scientists; some artists, etcetera. Nothing primitive assides from the method of housing and utilities, but they're closer to the rest of the world than you would imagine," Chrys pointed up at the cliff face, "Up top there are several sattelite arrays, they get bashed from the weather often but it's not such a big deal; but they get access to the web that way. Electricity is brought from flooded underground mines from settlers times, the rushing water garners kinetic energy; same thing in terms of wind. Generators are here too, but Ivan has been working on making a large enough cavern in the cliff for a small power grid to give electricity to the whole camp," she finished, grinning, "It's beautiful!"Ivan walked up to the hidden door of the wall and knocked several times, eventually it was heaved open and they were all allowed inside. At the same time two dozen men all piled out with weapons, no one seemed to pay much attention to them, "That's the search team. Not searching for survivors persay, but searching for zombies in the immediate area and putting them to rest before burning and burying them. Tough job, but someone's gotta do it," the inside of the complex was facinating, harbingers purged through the green canopy over head and spilled little spots of light here and there throughout the camp. Chrysil broke off from the group to greet and hug people she knew, starting conversations and telling them how good it was to see them. The original group which had entered all eventually split up and went off to do their own thing, Ivan among them disappeared into a cabin across the yard. Kaz was left there in the centre of the complex. "Hey Melissa!" Chrys explained running up to a girl who was sitting on a porch playing with a zippo lighter. The girl had two appendages sticking out of her head and backside, Chrysil looked at her almost bewildered as to what had occured to them, "What happened!?" she asked, holding Melissa and taking a closer look at her ears. The girl didn't seem to phased, "I was caught roaming around the checkpoint which lead into Stoneville, the soldiers cropped my ears a little while they tried to figured out what I was exactly. I did my best to explain to them, Chrys, honest!" it wasn't until she had finished explaining when tears seemed to swell in her eyes. "Shh, shh, it's alright. I'm here," Chrys replied and held Melissa's head against her chest. <Activating Umbrella cache...> <...File#12 "Melissa Fox" ... proceed? yes ? Accepted...>Melissa Fox, 19. Traits: Fox, Appendages: Ears, tail The test subject of one, Jonas Reid, on the skirmish of combining animal traits with humans in order for advanced activity in the human body years before second impact. Fox was the first success, but with the addition of animal strengths being combined with the human body animal appendages also formed querying test results. Only females were direct successes of the testing as from results only a XX chromasome being is capable of merging with animal traits. Only two other beings similar to Melissa are known to exist. <File closed>Chrys found herself sitting down next to Melissa, both of them chatted about what had happened recently; Melissa went in depth about her capture and mutilation. It hurt her to talk about it but she went ahead either way, figuring it would feel better to talk to someone on the issue. Chrys held her close. The two of them had become good friends after meeting one another, Melissa knew few people who seemed to care for her so much and Chrys had never met anyone so bizarre and interesting. So, they became best friends. Chrys looked up at Melissa's ears, touching them again, "Well, for the record, your ears still look really cool," she said doing her best to comfort her, "I gotta go talk to Ivan now, I'll be back to say ciao once I'm done here. 'Kay?" Chrys stood up and started walking backwards. "Okay, thanks Chrysil," Melissa responded and waved lightly. Chrysil crossed the complex, stopping Kaz from whatever he had been up to and ushering him to hollow her to Ivan's cabin, "Okay, so this is how it works out, you remember how I said how a lot of the people who resided in these compounds are doctors and scientists? Yeah? Well half of them used to be tied in with Umbrella in one way or another. For their expertise, that's all. None of them knew what they were in for and they all know each other in one way or another, but the major thing is that they can help with their knowledge in each area and from what they had learnt from Umbrella," Chrysil beamed at Kaz, "Neat huh!" she turned back in the direction they were walking, "I figured we could probably ask some of them whether they know of Carl Jake, it might be a start, but primarly it's Ivan who can help us out with this black Tricell card. He used to manufacture these things, so he can tell us of the make origins..." Chrysil paused, realizing something, "...Gees, I hope it wasn't made in another country... anyway, I have to hope that this card is somehow a link to your dad," she waved her hands in front of herself once in gesture, "Totally basing that on intuition though, but if it's something major then it's something helpful," she frowned for an instance, "These guys were involved with Umbrella long before your parents had anything to do with them though...they could know Carl Jake, but Eisaku and Kayami will be meaningless names to them. Either way, while Ivan is getting this scanned we can go and ask about, see what people know on Carl," they had stopped on Ivan's porch, Chrysil's eye brows were raised and lips pursed in query as to Kaz's thought on this; after several moments Chrysil went to open the door of the cabin and entered. "Chrysil!" Ivan boomed, "So, what brings you back to the Arklay Renegades for the umpteenth time now?" he was straight to the point, that was something which Chrys appreciated about Ivan. Keeping things simple in return, Chrys flung the Tricell card over to him, landing it on his desk. He stared at if for a while before picking it up and looking at the magnetic strip on the back, "Oh..." he said in a slightly troubled manner while creasing his brow, he followed it up with a quizzical hum and tapped his chin. It wasn't long until Chrysil had gotten sick of waiting, he had been looking at the strip for well over five minutes at this point, "I need another favor Ivan... I need you to find the origins of that card. I know you've got the tech for it--" Chrys was cut off. "'Had'," Ivan speedily retored, then decided to elaborate on the single word, "'Had' the tech,"Chrys' lightened state faded quickly qhile she did her best to decypher what she more or less didn't want to hear into something more pleasant to her ears, "Hang on a sec... what do you mean by 'had'?" albeit it was obvious on what Ivan had said, Chrysil just wanted to make one hundred percent sure before she went into decision mode on throwing a small tantrum, "'Had' as in you 'had' to do backflips while reciting a readers digest novel in arabic? Or 'had' as in you no longer 'have' the tech to scan this card..."Ivan merely looked at her a little haphazardly and spoke, "The latter there," he finally answered. Chrysil looked down at her feet, disappointed that the card wouldn't get them anywhere. Ivan tapped his boot to regain her attention, "It doesn't mean I don't know where it is though... you help get it for me and I'll scan that card for you. I can also tell you right now, that card is Tricell black level; access to all doors type. That's straight from its design. It'd only work at the location it was manufactured at though, so I can't see if being a big help less you get that scanning hardware back to me,"Chrysil seethed, this was the case every time. As much as her and Ivan were friends, every favor she had to ask of him, he had a favor to ask of her in return for him to fulfill her favor. It was alright of course because it meant that Chrysil never had to repay him, but just to get something straight for once without a hitch was an occurence that never happened, "Okay, what do we have to do?" she asked, blunt. "Squatters hit us when we were out hunting, stole most of our equipment, the scanning hardware a part of it. We tracked'em back to were they're stickin' to at the moment but there's far too many of them, and they're too well armed. I don't want to risk any of the Renegade to this, and it was a small loss to me and everyone else so we let them have it," Ivan turned around to a map which was pinned to the wall of his cabin, tapping on a specific region of Arklay, "Here, at the Arklay Dam. They're squatting in the turbine houses. I don't know where you'd find the scanner but at this stage I really don't care, if you want it then you'll just have to scoure for it. Sorry kiddo..."Chrysil nodded. Typical deal. But if her and Kaz could pinpoint the origins of the Tricell facility the card had been manufactured at then it would cut off a whole lot of hard work for them, "Right," she replied to Ivan, then turned to Kaz, "Okay then... what do you want to do Kaz?" she left the decision up to him, what method they'd go by to get information; as far as Chrys could see at the moment, any way was a hike, but considering it was Kaz's parents on the line she felt it was only kind to let him decide.

Kaz was never happy being led somewhere, so he naturally disliked the renegades. He stood up and was led somewhere with Chrysil. Kaz looked the various soldiers up and down. Typical military imitation, at least to Kaz. He also looked at the various weapons. These people were obviously scavengers, just slightly better scavengers than most. He could also tell that these people did not want to actually shoot at Kaz or Chrysil. He could see this so much that he was certain he could escape. But he had no reason to escape, so he stayed with Chrysil.
"Ivan Broderick,"
Kaz wondered if this was the man that could help them. Judging from Chrysil's reactions, it would seem so. He listened to Chrysil's explanation about the Renegades. He was right, they were just good scavengers. Despite Kaz's opinion on them as scavengers, he had a special respect for these sorts of scavengers. They had foreseen a second disaster, and had probably saved many lives through their actions. They were also obviously fairly smart, picking the location well. It was just like Chrysil said, people would not find them, and zombies would walk away. In some ways, this looked very professional to Kaz. In other ways, somewhat neanderthal. Every time he saw someone, Kaz would look them over quickly, trying to see what sorts of people would live here.
Kaz carefully watched Chrys as she talked to Melissa. He felt weird seeing Melissa. He didn't know what he thought of her. One second, he thought that she should be killed. The next, that she should be treated just like him, or Chrys. It confused him, as he had always had a fixed opinion on most things. After seeing Chrys talk to her, he realized that she was actually quite normal, and deserved no special treatment. But she did deserve protection.
Just as he started to relax, Chrys led him into Ivan's cabin. He watched eagerly as she explained about the card, and Ivor responded. Kaz felt a huge pang of dissapointment as Ivor revealed his loss of tech. All of a sudden, Kaz felt that the trip was a waste of time. Maybe they should have just stayed in Raccoon city....
But then Ivor revealed how they lost the tech. His plan was quite bad, in Kaz's opinion. Get a young woman and a young man to infiltrate a camp of Squatters, alone? But he had to do it. Kaz felt that it was the right option, not only would they get information, but the renegades would end up respecting Kaz. At least, a little.
"Okay then... what do you want to do Kaz?"
Kaz turned to Chrysil. "We infiltrate the camp." He said, very matter-of-factly. He then turned to Ivor. "If we are going to get get this equipment for you, do a favor for me in return. Arms. Guns. All I have is this." He grabbed his Taurus and gestured with it. "And a springfield, which Chrysil is keeping warm. We will need better."

"Honestly, Kaz. I don't even want a weapon. I'd probably shoot myself in the foot!" Chrysil protested, taking Kaz's hand and forcefully returning the Springfield to him; the sidearm she hadn't even used once yet, "But for your sake," she continued, turning to Ivan, "What firepower have you got?" she asked. Ivan gestured for them to follow him, Chrysil already knew where they were being lead. The Armory. Ivan unlocked the door and lead the two of them in. Racks and stacks of weapons were in rows beside Chrysil and Kaz, but he was taking them both to the very back. The special area. He unlocked a cabinet and hauled out a rifle, "H&K416, you could dump it in a pile of sh*t and it'd still operate perfectly," then the reasonable amount of mags of ammo to follow, before reaching for another weapon and giving it to Kaz, "VFBS Auto shotty, snub barrel. Home tailored," and then closed the cabinet, "That's all I'm givin' ya... asides from your reasonable transport to the squatter locale,"They were lead out of the armory and taken over to a small ghillie stack house, Ivan pulled off the fabric to reveal a couple of mountain bikes, "You're better off with a quiet approach, they hear ya on anything else and they'll be shootin' bullets into the valley before you're any where near two hundred metres of'em. So don't chance it, use these instead," they were both wheeled out to Chrysil and Kaz, "'nd Mel over there can lead you to the spot, she's fast enough, been a little depressed since you last left Chrysil. Y'know she considers ye as her bigger sister-""Yeah I get it Ivan, her situation pains even me. I'll make sure my next visit is on holiday standards or something," Chrysil speedily retorted before hopping onto the bike. It had been a while since she had been mountain bike riding, wasn't precisely her forte, but there'd still be a small remainder of the essence inside her, "We'll be back before dark. Stay for the night. Then head out at dawn so we can get back to Raccoon before the following evening," she stated, confident in herself and Kaz's abilities, "Tell your buddies to open the gate for us, we're off," Chrysil applied the crash helmet onto her head which had been hanging on the handle bars previously, last thing she needed was a concussion; among other last things of course; and started peddaling. Chrys motioned for Melissa to follow her, "You're showing us the way to the squatter hold, Melissa," she shouted while zipping past her. The fox-girl looked almost excited that she was being taken along, or leading the way for the most part, and started sprinting along with Chrysil and Kaz. It wasn't that much longer until she was ahead of them, Chrys would keep an eye on her from the flashes of orange here and there. Chrysil turned around to look at Kaz behind her, "Hope you can keep up!" she shouted before flicking through the gears and hammering the peddals below her feet, gaining momentum from jumps and ramps. She'd need to apply the speed and momentum once they started going up the incline otherwise she'd be as tired as a dog before being anywhere near the top. Melissa didn't have a problem though, she simply hopped from tree to tree zipping along branch canopies and the like, sometimes disappearing into the tree tops into the sun light. Chrysil didn't commend that, but it was totally on Melissa's terms to gain barings; it was just that if any of the squatters at the top of the valley were scoping down below they'd no doubt spot her. She only had to hope that they wouldn't, Chrysil cringed sometimes as Melissa would disappear from sight. They both knew each other though, well enough for trust without words; if Mel was out of sight for longer than five seconds then it was for a damn good reason, and she would have let Chrysil know in the first place. The incline was starting, this was where things became hazardous. Chrysil avoided objects as much as possible, no jumps, no ramps, just sticking to the track she scoped out and keeping her weight to the front of the mountain bike. She was calculating how far she was from the top purely from what she could see, if everything went swell then there wouldn't be a worry of heavy fatigue at least.
The top was clean; the foothills were very high up; they'd been following a man made path for the past hour, the sun was now high in the sky and all of the sound around Chrysil was losing its melody; more like watered down bass thumps. It meant she was becoming tired from the ride. She slowed, realizing Melissa had been out of site for quite some time now. Then Chrysil stopped, hopping off of the bike and walking it for several metres. She viewed her surroundings before finally spotting Melissa hiding behind a rock, her tail curled around her body and her ears low. Chrysil propped the bike against a tree and roadie ran over to Melissa, "What's up?" she asked, first looking at her friend before beginning to look over the rock. Melissa merely grimmaced and spoke, "See for yourself," she said in a dark fashion while glaring over the rock at the Arklay Dam, "'long the top, some of them're down the bottom," she gave a brief explanation before popping her head back down. The dam was a huge, semi-circular structure that pinned a huge body of water against the wall of the Arklay foothills. Trees lined the cliff faces following the curve of the dam, all else that was visible was a huge drop and then a lower body of water. Assides from the rest of the forrest surrounding them, with the dam added in it almost looked like a tropical jungle in this kind of daylight, "Melissa, I want you to hang back here while me and Kaz go in. I don't want you getting caught or hurt you hear me? If anything smells fishy then get out of here, and if we're not back by dark then head back to the Renegades. No means whatso ever should you move into the facility, got it?" Chrysil had put on her super serious voice, Melissa nodded to the statement and sat down to reinforce it. Chrysil sighed, standing up, "Okay Kaz, you've proven how you are in wet work situations. We're getting our hands a little more than dirty here. Do whatever you want to these a**holes as long as it doesn't get as killed. I'll follow the stairs built into the cliff down to the lower level dam and you can cover the top. I have a feeling we won't be able to get out of this one without a serious fight after getting into it," she wiped sweat from her brow, suddenly wishing she'd brought water with her. 'No regrets, back out of this and it's back to square one, asking random people questions on names and info,' Chrysil said to herself, "This is it,"Chrysil hopped over the rock and roadie ran through the trees towards the cliff face, it was a good fifty metres before she'd reached the hand railing. After all the time the shrub life had grown out this far and she had plenty of cover. Couldn't say the same about the stairs down though, but there was a safer short cut which kept her out of site along the earth wall. Vines and roots were sticking out for a grapple hold to at least halfway down. Chrys started climbing, keeping an eye out for any squatter patrols along the stairs. It was possible there'd be zombies in the vicinity too. Arklay Dam

Kaz looked out upon the top of the Dam. He saw lots of piles of supplies, a few crates. He could also see a fair few squatters. He like to call them enemies, it made it easier to take them out. He watched them for a few minutes, hiding near some shrubbery. He tried to notice patterns. A few enemies seemed to stick to staying in one spot, occasionally wandering off. Kaz was higher than the Dam, on top of some sort of slope. From that point, he could see much of the Dam. From what he could see, the supplies and crates the enemies had stashed upon the Dam would make decent hiding places.
So, with a few hiding places planned, Kaz slowly made his way down the slope towards the Dam. He attached the suppressor he had picked up back at the armory to his springfield. Holding the gun, he continued, half-way down the slope now. Kaz was careful not to get seen. He was unusually good at this, a natural. Finally, he was at his last piece of cover before the Dam. It was about 20 meters from their to the Dam, and it would be hard to get there without being noticed. So he waited for several minutes, waiting for the right moment.
Finally, that moment arrived. All eyes were turned away, and he dashed towards the nearest crate. About 8 meters from the crate, he noticed a head turning. So Kaz went into a slide, desperately trying to be sneaky. He reached the crate. But he had not planned it well enough ; he hit the crate with a loud thud. Swearing under his breath, Kaz listened out for footsteps or voices. He gripped his gun tightly, breathing deeply. He heard a voice...
"I'll check it out."
No, no no no. This was not part of Kaz's plan at all, he rushed through some new plans in his head as quick as he could, as he could now hear footsteps. Thinking on his feet, Kaz took the quickest peep he could over the top of the crate. He could see four men, all quite far away. If they were visibly far away, and he heard footsteps... Kaz thought about swearing, but decided against it. This meant that one guard was close by, very close by. Suddenly, Kaz saw a boot...
As a reflex, Kaz jumped up, and addressed the overall situation quickly. Time seemed to slow down as Kaz took in what was happening. One guard was right next to him, turning towards him. The guard was holding a shotgun. The guards far away had not seen anything yet, but would soon. Time snapped back into full speed for Kaz as he took action. He let out a high kick to knock the shotgun away from the guard. It worked, the gun went spiralling away and lay near one side of the dam. The guard shouted, but as the words left his mouth, Kaz grabbed him. Kaz took him in a human-shield position, holding him firmly. He was strong enough to ensure the guard did not get loose. Kaz held his silenced gun, aiming over his hostage's shoulder. One by one, the guards near the other end of the Dam noticed Kaz. They all aimed their guns at him, one of which was a handgun, whilst the rest were sub-machine guns. They didn't shoot. Kaz walked slowly towards them, forcing the hostage forward as well, until they were in talking distance. Kaz spoke.
"I have you friend here.. I also have several demands. Drop your weapons." The men were reluctant. So, in one fluent motion, Kaz aimed his weapon at his hostage's foot and shot, hitting the foot right in the middle. Kaz quickly returned his aim to the four men as his hostage shouted in pain. Kaz winced, but it seemed no men on the lower part heard. The men now knew how serious Kaz was. They all dropped their weapons. A big mistake. Kaz smiled. He threw his hostage forward, and let out four, precise, shots. With those shots, he executed the 4 enemies who had just surrendered. He then grabbed his hostage and threw him over the Dam, to avoid wasting a bullet. He watched the man tumble, he did not scream, as he was in shock.
With the guards dealt with, somewhat brutally, Kaz noticed some stairs leading into a low, inside, section of the Dam. He figured that the rest of the guards would be down there. He also guessed that it was where they were keeping the scanner equipment.

Chrysil had reached the bottom of the dam. It was almost breathtaking seeing the amount of water pouring down from above, the Circular river continuing off down into the forest. On both sides of the river were the docks of the dam, more or less, kind of like a horizontal extension at the very base where the housing and maintenance tunnels are for easy sea level access. It was likely the main area the squatters would be using for sleeping locations though, storing supplies and the like, so it would be as infested as hell... without actual infestees ironically enough. Chrysil chuckled at the thought, but kept it asside in order to remain focused on the situation; if anything gave way that she wasn't of squatter calibre, she'd be religious before she could even pull the finger on them.
Regardless, it seemed fairly quiet; the roar of water wasn't so bad, it filled the ambience anyway considering all of the birds in the immediate area had gone silent. Just proved more over that there were likely zombies close to the dam as well, maybe even in areas of the dam that the squatters hadn't even broken into yet. That was a hazardous thought, Chrysil had to keep in mind the last Raccoon Documentary that featured the Arklay dam and all of the areas covered. The Documentary was more or less going over all of the areas in and around Raccoon, it being the catalyst of the original biohazard anyway, and apparently there had been a fair amount of ruckus that had gone on in the dam; not to mention the countless deals that would have been worked out on top of the dam; whether it was drug cartels or Umbrella CEO's, they probably figured the dam was the most secure and open space void of ears to follow through with money exchange and the like.
The lower dam was pretty bare, not a hell of a lot of cover, but Chrys didn't exactly spot out any hostiles in the opening straight away. From the looks of things they were closer to the wall of the dam, doing ridiculous dives into the pounding waterfall; a part of herself worried as each diver spent minutes underwater before rising up again. Regardless, there seemed to be a window during each dive where all of the squatters attention were drawn to the person jumping in the water. When that happened Chrys quickly sped over to the next piece of cover, being small helped as well. There was pipe here and there across the concrete ground which Chrys could lie against and be totally hidden.
A part of herself reminded her to keep an eye on the forest too, make sure Melissa wasn't following Chrys out of curiousity or the urge to help herlook like she was staying put anyway. It was the thought of third party eyes that would be peering in though, someone not on their side or the squatters. Someone with ulterior reasons to be at the dam. Chrys figured it was a common tick anyway; it was healthy to think that everyone in the world was against you, when it is actually the case in such a zombie apocalyptic world. She shrugged it off each time though, more pressing matters were at hand.
Her mental notebook scribbled away at everything that was going on around her, this was some serious content, a part to rile the readers in anyway. Chrys decided not to risk a photo until they were out again, just incase the shutter sound or lense reflection made an lethal impression on anyone. She had the tensity all worked out, 'I got closer, and closer to the squatters in order to pass them and reach the entrance to the dam; right up until I could smell the lack of hygein realing off of their backs--'
WHACK
Chrys felt her skeleton unzip her skin, step out, point, and scream. She peeked through her hands to see what had crash landed onto the cement right next to her, still shaking from the sudden surge of doom that had compelled her body into a shaking wreck. In lamens, she just had the sh*t scared out of her. The man... was it a man? Chrys wasn't too sure. Anyway, the 'person' had landed face first and it looked like some kind of combustion had occured in the stomach from the fall causing a rupture with the persons insides being forced onto the outside.
Once she calmed colour started to flood back into Chrys' vision; the gore wasn't that bad, she'd seen far worse, it was just the suddeness from what had happened which had shocked her. What came next though was a little different, it was still shock, just a different itteration of it.
All of the squatters had turned to look in Chrysil's direction, and at their dead pancake of a buddy on the ground. The last diver had climbed up too, laughing from how exhilirating his last jump had been but slowly his laugh died off as he realized his friends were no longer focusing on him; his attention inevitably falling upon Chrysil. That was when the second lot of shock set in, followed by a realization. All of the squatters had left some of their clothing and weapons over closer to the dams wall away from the water.
The group of roughnecks and the single girl both glared at each other for a couple of seconds, not a sound made. Chrys had waited for a time that she felt would take the group of squatters by surprise, a moment that felt correct to start sprinting away from the killzone. She'd chosen it well, seconds following her sprint the squatters merely stared at her, dumbfounded and tracking her movement. It wasn't until one of them made a disgruntled grunt that they snapped out of it and started shouting, chasing after Chrysil.
She'd reached their pile of clothing and weapons, Chrysil snatched up a couple of rifles and sidearms. One would assumed she'd turn and shoot, but instead she tossed each one she was able to pick up while still running into the water. With each throw another shout followed letting Chrys know that they definitely weren't happy with her now. How the hell had that body fallen?... Maybe a bunch of squatters up top had decided to be d*ckheads and push their friend off in an act of hilarity only to realize that it was the wrong thing to do but would get over it quickly.
They'd started shooting, that was the part where intense music kicks in and everything becomes life threatening. Chrys prayed that it was a squatter day off and they'd all chosen some exotic location for a holiday for the sake of sakeness. It was like a zombie moan, if you heard one moan then you knew your life was up. One moan meant a zombie had seen you, or seen something which had triggered the moan. When other undead hear that moan, they moan too and start moving off towards the sound; and thus you have the infinite network of moans which brings the motherload of zombies down ontop of you. gunfire and squatters ring the same. If there's something to shoot at then they all want to get involved, it hurt to think that potentially beating a rape followed; well that made Chrys fun faster anyway.
It was cover she was looking for though, she had to get out of the hail storm and out of sight. There weren't a lot of openings on the lower dam that would lead inside, but there'd be even less that the squatters actually knew about. She needed to find one of them and disappear before they got too close to her, if not that then at least before she got shot. Chrys didn't often get shot, well, shot at, but not physically shot. Most of the time it was deranged survivors she stumbled across, or stupid soldiers looking for something to unload a round into. Each time Chrysil put them in their place by either shouting at them in anger, or pranking them. The latter she prefered. She doubted anything like that would be happening this time though. A prank for a platoon of squatters? Chrys didn't think so, 'Well, staying alive and getting away is prank enough,' she thought, snickering slightly and crossing from fear to humor and back to fear again.
The squatters were lousy shots while enraged, from what Chrys could see; she wasn't hit yet anyway. She ducked around one of the big cement blocks, the individual power nodes which sucked in hydroelectric energy. She'd chosen that spot in particular because there was a hatch which lead underneath the cement platform; it was a water passage, but getting a little wet was a hell of a lot better than a little bloody. The samsung was waterproof as well, along with just about everything else that was in Chrysil's backpack. Regardless, she held it over her head as she jumped in and closed the nearly camouflaged hatch. Already her clothing was soaked and her hair was wet, sticking to her face. It was as dark as hell, nothing a little light wouldn't get rid of though, it was pretty cramped as well. Chrys moved against the currant, edging towards the main dam structure; hopefully before hypothermia kicked in.
A brown and slightly wet backpack was flung up onto the platform, Chrysil pulled herself up and collapsed onto the concrete. Tens of minutes it had taken her to make it out of the flood path, shivering, but she had made it inside; and the squatters hadn't followed which was a good thing, although Chrys feared for Kaz as it was possible she could have stirred up the hornets nest.
The room she was in, as big as it appeared, was the water treatment plant. It was open to the flood path so that scientists and the like could snatch up a sample and slap it into a test tube; some computers and tables littered the place, the lights were on as well from the hydroelectricity that was being given to them 24/7. Chrys didn't care though, she wasn't worried where she was, she just needed to catch her breath. Several moments while being in the flood path she'd feared for her life as the water level had risen above her head; presevering though, she'd made it, and she was prepared to give her lungs as much time as they required to return to a normal breathing patter, then letting her pulse tone down after that aswell.
The wet was horrible, Chrys spent the next ten minutes searching the water treatment room for something to dry herself with eventually finding a stack of towels. She wrang her clothing as best as possible, pouring water out of her shoes, and dried her hair all before relaxing and reflecting on what had just occured. Chrys had lost track of the time, clearing up her mess and checking all of her equipment. One more scope of the room to see whether there was anything handy or whether there was any surviellance proved uneventful, and eventually to moved for the one door that lead out of the room, finding it ironic that she was holding her breath while approaching it even though she was well out of water now.

Kaz, feeling no sadness after executing several men, slowly proceeded down the stairs, towards the inside section of the Dam. He knew that first he would have to get through a lower section of the Dam, where Chrysil was. Much to Kaz's surprise, a fairly large team of men began to ran up the stairs just as he was half-way down. Chrysil had alerted them, Kaz felt a pang of worry. He cared for her now, and had to make sure she was safe.
So, as both he and the guard in front stared in surprise for a moment, acted first. He jumped several of the stairs and let out a vicious punch combo, a few hits to the head, a few to the stomach. With the guard dazed, Kaz looked him up and down quickly, he found what he wanted ; a knife. He yanked the knife from the guard's sheath and stabbed the guard in the chest. Kaz was lucky that this team of soldiers had no body armor.
As the first man dropped, Kaz ran down the stairs slashing out left and right. A killing machine. Kaz caugh precious sights of skin, and went for it with the knife. In a blind fury, he cut for several minutes, descending into the lower level. He guessed these men had come to look to see if Chrysil had any accomplices. Kaz dropped onto his knees suddenly as he hit the lower level. He was breathing heavily, the knife covered in blood. He looked back, and saw that he had just butchered at least 10 men. Some of the injuries were quite painful, one or two men were still moaning in pain. Kaz felt a pang of pain. Looking over himself quickly, he saw that he had been shot. In the shoulder. The pain hit him all at once. He gritted his teeth, avoiding loud noises. He had gone down that stairwell like a madman, in a blind fury.
He felt a couple more pains. He had been cut in the leg, someone had taken him on with a knife it would seem. He also felt another pain, which turned out to be a flesh wound in his side. Whether it was from bullet or knife, Kaz didn't know. These pains all hit him at once, he had not felt a thing as he descended. Now he felt worried. He picked himself up. The bullet-wound tried to stop him. Kaz remembered his martial arts training, repressing pain. But this wasnt the pain of being punched or kicked, it was a bullet. He slowly moved forward. Dropping the knife, he got his pistol out with his good side, ready for use. Two men rounded a corner nearby, Kaz shot them. Another opposite, Kaz shot him two. His shots were certainly more accurate than he would have thought.
After advancing another few meters, Kaz collapsed on the floor from pain, drifting in and out of conciousness.

Chrysil stepped into the narrow, grey hallway. It was quiet, the only sound being generated came from the hum of the tungsten light fitting on the ceiling above and Chrys' own chattering teeth. She felt a little tired, which wasn't a good thing. It meant she had come close to hypothermia, likely grazing the top of the chaff in that regard. A quick trip out into sunlight would have been a preference just to warm up, but she was too far into the dams guts now to think about much else other than searching for the scanner. Freaking scanner. What the hell did the squatters want with it? Probably its insides which was a horrible thought, that it could possibly be in pieces with its capacitors and transistors strewn about a work bench. The only positive thing Chrys could make out of it was that the raid on the Arklay Renegades had been recent, and the squatters wouldn't have even taken a look through half of what they had stolen yet.
There was a bizarre sound coming from one end of the corridor, Chrysil edged down while holding a towl tight around her torso at the chest to keep warm. The door around the corner was a crank lock, meaning it was air tight in case of an emergency, and looking through the small, square, reinforced window it was evident that something had ocurred. There was a leak sprung somewhere in the upper area of the dam and water was pouring into the complex, "Jesus," Chrysil started, "How the hell am I supposed to move upwards in this place then?" she asked herself. There was no question how much of the dam was flooded, Chrys guessed it was the whole level above her and the one spot she was in was the last place to buckle under pressure. No wonder the flood path she'd been wading through to get away from the squatters was so damn full, "F*ck," she added for effect.
The entire room on the other side wasn't flooded though, which meant there was air, which meant there had to be some route she could follow that lead her upwards. Chrysil looked up and noticed the vent above the door, some water slurped through it now and again meaning the countermeasure to cut off areas hadn't closed up the vent in question. The room must have had to be fully flooded before that happen. Either way, it was a passage that Chrysil decided to exploit.
She ran back into the water treatment room and snatched a chair plus a crowbar that was next to the flood path and went back out into the corridor; Chrys had dropped the towel now, know it'd get in the way, it was a sacrifice of warmth. She placed the chair down against the door, a dull thump made from contact as heavy creaking could be heard from the fixtures of the wrought iron casing, and stood on top of it. The butt of the crowbar was wedged into the grating and quickly the vent was yanked off allowing free passage into the next room. Chrysil pulled herself up and in, just as she let go of the grating the was a firm 'shlack!' sound; she turned to see that the countermeasure had closed up the vent. She was trapped, if the water level suddenly decided to rise...
Chrysil wasn't one for worst case scenarios, that was before she realized this would have to be one of her worst. She waded the water for a moment while she contemplated her original reasoning of choosing this path. Hydrophobia would soon be her worst nightmare, getting out of what she was in pushed to the top of her to do list. Chrys looked about the room, there was probably a metre and a half of room left before you could touch the ceiling; the other two entrances were visible below the water. One of them was open.
Chrys swam over and duck dived, looking at her surroundings; for what water it was it turned out to be fairly clear. Likely a filtration system just to keep things in check, last thing they needed was for something dead to make it through and contaminate the water. She swam through the next entrance finding it was another hallway. A long hallway. She popped back up for a second to regain her breath and considered how much more South this could possibly go, then duck dived again and started breastroking down the hallway.
She had noticed one of the doors at the end were open, a sign next to it said 'Turbine Room Entrance' not necessarily caring where anywhere took her at this point; her lungs were already burning. She passed through into a stairwell, relieved; Chrys quickly glanced into the Turbine Room only to see the entire place flooded and shrouded in darkness with 4 huge, hulking Turbines lining the length of the place. Not enough time to check it out, there never would be with the strength of her lungs. Chrys quickly doubled back and headed for the stairwell, swimming upwards as fast as possible. There were a lot more levels that had been flooded than what she originally predicted, hopefully the card scanner weren't on any of them.
Light could be seen, Chrysil nearly let out a shout of happiness which would have likely caused her to inhale a sh*tload of water and kill her on the spot; she controlled her excitement though and crossed between the dark blue into the bright grey, heading for the rest of the stairs that lead up. She spent a couple of minutes drying herself off for the second time in that day and quickly checking her equipment; some of the stuff in her backpack was badly water logged and she simply discarded them on the spot; nothing too important like camera gear which Chrys already placed protection around when entering heavy environmental areas so there was no point crying.
Gunfire had been shouting for a while before Chrys had even begun to notice it, "Oh jees, bad mojo," she looked up in the opening of the stairwell, it was a fair ways up but she was certain that it was the hornets nest of squatters that would have been alerted by her presence before hand plus their dearly departed buddy who had fallen from the top of the dam and crash landed on the cement at the bottom. Chrysil could only think of two reasons why they'd be firing bullets wildly, "Either they're accusing one another of who pushed the guy off the top of the dam, or they found Kaz," as much as she wanted to help, Chrys slowly crept up the stairwell. The fact that the gunfight was going on for some time meant that someone was putting up a fair amount of resistance; which was a good thing, it meant they weren't dead yet.
Chrysil picked up speed when the fighting died down a little, and moved into a full run once all the commotion had stopped entirely. She was stricken with concern that the bad guys had prevailed, and Kaz could be dead; falling back on her decision not to run up quickly and help, 'But what help could I have been?' she asked her mind, quickly replying as well, 'Don't be born stubborn, you just wanted to save your own ass and now he's dead. Great work dumbass," she fought back a tear at the thought of Kaz's bullet ridden body, realistically speaking it probably wasn't too far from the truth as strong as the guy was. Odds always piled against you when you go all one man army less you have a prominent strategy.
She reached the level that the battle had been at. A complete mess. Chrysil stood on the spot as she took in the absolute carnage, Kaz wasn't among them though, "Thank f*ck," Chrys said out loud and appearing to rouse one of the squatters she'd though was dead. He held a sidearm up at her and fired, at the same time Chrysil instinctly grabbed the nearest dead squatters hand and pulled up the Kalashnikov-47 thad he had and unloaded what remained into the dying enemy, pulling the squatters finger to fire the weapon. It was the quickest burst of energy she had ever felt.
Half a second had been dedicated to the sounds of the firearms shooting, it didn't even seem to have happened. Chrysil glanced at the wall to her left and noted the two bullets holes that sat head height with her before looking down at the AK-47 and squatters hand she was still holding, dropping them both immediately after. Her breathing had become labored as she built a bridge over what had happened. Her eye for detail kicked in, a natural ability her body harnessed to pull her out of feeling bad, and Chrys noted the bloody hand marks along the wall plus blood trail that was leading down a stair set into a different part of the dam. There was no other evidence that served to prove that Kaz had moved off in any other direction, Chrysil moved quickly to follow in his footsteps.
The trail lead for a bit, several more dead bodies were discovered along the way before Chrys had finally made the discovery which she loathed to think about before. Kaz lay on the floor with a huge pool of blood forming around him, "Kaz!" Chrysil screamed as she went down the last lot of stairs at top speed, not noticing the last six she jumped to reach the bottom faster. She slid next to him, 'Scoop chance lost, scoop chance lost, scoop chance lost,' trying to ignore the blood that clung to her clothing and pushed Kaz into a sitting position.
He was still alive, his eyes open and mouth breathing but he didn't seem to focus on anything in particular, "F*cking idiot!" Chrys shouted and hauled him up over her shoulder, "You could have at least stayed in one spot so's to not irritate your wounds if you planned on falling head first into a pack of hostiles, god," she commented, knowing that the words wouldn't be comprehended from how disorientated Kaz would be and started walking him through the dorm area of the dam, "Bloody... eh... stubborn!" Chrysil heaved him over her shoulder a little more after feeling him slip.
The infirmary was wide open, looked like a slaughter house almost. The squatters were likely fixing each other up and did so in less than doctor required ways. Whether she liked it or not the room would have to do, pushing tools off of one of the metal benches and heaving Kaz up onto it, "Freaking heavy too, jees." after a slight struggle.
"Damn, these injuries are bad..." Chrysil said to herself, power walking back over to the entrance of the infirmary and closing the door, "..Be glad you're half knocked out... probably won't want to think too much on the pain ahead, chief," a browse over the infirmary beforehand came up with nothing that would help as pain relief, all Chrys could try was to inject morphine into him. This was something she was never totally cool on, it'd put Kaz into an even more unconcious state. If the amount was minimal, Chrys could kill some of the pain but still keep Kaz awake for the worst case scenario... "Like maybe squatters entering the area, and then having to scrambled to get the hell outta dodge,"
Chrys made the injection, "Okay, Kaz. Now I know you can't hear me but for the sake of making myself feel better I'm going to let you know you could feel a f*ckload of a prick in your shoulder, stomach, and leg. Okay? Okay then..." taking some classes in field medic duties? Priceless. She went to work on the bullet wound first, it hadn't gone straight through which made Chrysil wonder what type of firearm had shot the rounds; nothing purely automatic or high powered off the bat. She hadn't given much attention to what weapons had been laying around at the time once she'd entered the location of the battle, didn't seem important. Eitherway, it was a blessing and a curse. Since it wasn't that powerful it didn't create a massive hole in Kaz's shoulder; unfortunately, Chrys had to dig for it.
Chrys tore holes in Kaz's clothing at the three areas he'd been hit. She stuck the forceps deep into the wound, Chrys decided it was best to be vigorous in reaching for the thing otherwise she'd have to make a hole in the back of Kaz's shoulder to get at it. Something she didn't want to do. Seconds later she was throwing the bullet across the room, letting it 'tacker' onto the floor somewhere it would do no more damage, "Okay, now what," Chrysil said to herself trying to recall the small amount of training she'd gone through. Disinfectant, Styptic, Bandage it up and let the sucker heal. Chrysil did the same with the two other wounds only instead using a suture kit forcing them to heal faster after stitching them up. One difference with the torso wound was a bullet had grazed the area, causing slight burns. Chrys applied ointment to the area, keeping careful not to force a lot of pain upon Kaz. After that she placed gauze over both wounds, and bandaged his leg wound for added effect.
Chrysil stepped back, looking at her handy work and the complete idiot that lay on the tabel in front of her. She smiled a little, "You'd be no more than a dead doornail without me, y'know," she jested. Chrysil filled a small bucket with warm water and dabbed around Kaz's wounds, cleaning up the excess blood, plonking it down afterwards and taking her jacket off. She hung it on one of the blood pack racks to let it dry, "Bloody freezing," she breathed, peeking out of the infirmary door and looking down the hall she'd come from. No squatters had followed; did Kaz kill off the remaining members? There were the ones at the bottom of the dam outside but they would have reached the area by now. Maybe the fact that Kaz had single handedly killed a dozen of their comrades made them think second thoughts about pursuing their attacker. Squatters weren't dumb, they'd hightail it when the going got rough. It was possible Chrys had the dam to herself now.
She took further steps into the dorm hall and followed it down to the first door on her left opening it into a small bunkbed area. She started searching beds and closets for any clothing she could fit into, discovering a girls bunk who had similar sizes to herself. Chrys found a shirt she liked and swapped her wet one for it, amazed to find they had similar shoes too... "Lucky break in all this bullsh*t," she notioned. Chrys was too attatched to her pants though, she wasn't sure whether it was a female thing but they really appealed to herself; there wasn't anything else that looked decent in the closet anyway so she decided to just leave it till she reached the sun outside and let them dry.
Other, more pressing, matters were at hand though. Chrysil had to find that damn card scanner. She reentered the hall and looked down at the infirmary; nothing had changed. Chrys decided to leave Kaz alone, even if she let him know where she was going he still wouldn't take it all in, if she didn't take too long then she'd be back in time for when he would wake up from a little nap. Or something. So Chrys started jogging down the other end of the hallway, heading back to the left overs of the battle and looking for any clues that might present themselves.
There wasn't much, some rooms had what looked like looted materials but nothing too high-tech to take note of. One room looked like a laundromat, there was a chute in the ceiling at the top with a makeshift ladder protruding out of it. The room in particular looked very old and unused, but the squatters had built some sort of means of getting into the room several floors up. Chrysil started climbing, maybe they'd been renovating this place to turn it into their own special abode. If so, she'd have to look everywhere there were signs of tampering. A moment in darkness finally brought her to the top, and it was obvious why the ladder was the only means of getting to the room up the top. The place was derelict, doors had been sealed shut, it was obviously a discarded area of the complex. Perfect for making sure no zombies got through, the only way in was the ladder. Even the stair wells leading down had been blocked and welded shut. Chrysil's hand lazilly fell on a small button to one side of the ladder as she gaped at her surroundings; the ladder began to retract and pull up the chute, so no one could find it in the first place, "Wow, maybe these squatters were trying hard to start their own little place they could stay, much like the Arklay Renegades. Really, they could have just been accusing me of their friend which had fallen from the top of the dam back outside. The only thing that links them to hostility is the raid their committed against the Renegade earlier, but they might have been more understanding if Kaz and I had just asked for the bloody scanner," Chrys spoke to herself, she rolled around on her words thinking how much more easier it might have been to approach this situation; and how much less injured Kaz could possible be at the moment.
She set out to searching through anything and everything that Chrys could find; there were piles of useful items everywhere, one corner of the room she was in was dedicated to heaps of weaponry, possibly some of it was from the warehouse firefight in New Prague. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack, but all Chrys had to do was look for that one piece of technology that stuck itself out of everything else in the room "Just hang tight Kaz, I'll be back before you can think 'Trout'"

No. I'm dying. I feel it. My blood is pouring. I'll kill the rest of those b**tards... I'm dying. Chrysil? I might live. Carrying me... Infirmary. Pain, all I can feel now is pain. Is she healing me, or putting me out of my misery? These thoughts rushed through Kaz's head for the precious brief moments that he was concious. Chrysil's attempt at healing seemed to be finished. He could tell that she had bandaged him, the sheeths werent soaked in blood.
He heard her leave. He was just glad that he could still hear. Every so often, the bullet-wound flared up. Kaz still thought that he might die. He might have.
Janurary 14th 1990
"Don't worry, Kazuhiko. It's just a little prick." Kaz felt his father slide the needle slide into his arm. No real pain. Just a tingling sensation.
Janurary 14th 1991
"Another flu jab, Kaz. Don't worry..." The same sensation. Kaz was granted the next rank in most of his martial arts classes days later.
Janurary 14th 1992
"This should all be familiar to you now, Kaz..."
It went on every year until his father dissapeared.
Present day
Kaz still felt like crap. He did not know how long had passed, a minute, an hour, all he knew was, he had fallen unconcious again. Footsteps. Kaz twisted his head surprisingly easily towards the door. Not Chrysil. It was a man, a well-built man. The sort of man who could take a bat to the face and just smile. He was holding a gun of some sorts, a shotgun perhaps. Kaz's senses were still very blurry. The man dropped the gun and smiled wickedly. He walked over to Kaz. And drew his fist back.
THWUMP
Kaz nearly blacked out as the fist hit him square in the face. More blows came, Kaz barely felt them as he was still only half-there. A burst of energy. Kaz whipped a hand up rather quickly, and grabbed the man's left hand. A surprised expression hit the man as this happened. Kaz let go, and stood up. The man did not try to stop him.
Kaz wandered slowly around the room. He flexed. Then, he ran. He ran right towards the man, and took a huge swing with his right hand. Kaz felt his fist connect with face. But the man seemed to be barely effected, he stood up, pushed Kaz away and flexed.
Kaz stopped momentarily stopped, as he realized how much energy, how much adrenaline, he had gained within two seconds. So he did not see the next blow coming. It hit him n the chest with such force that he fell backwards. But rather than sprawl on the floor, Kaz rolled backwards and stood up instantly. Surprising.
Kaz's turn. He ran towards his opponent and took a huge high kick, knocking the man clean off his feet with a satisfying crunch. Alot of opponents would have given up then, but this one was determined. He stood up, and took a few swings at Kaz, which Kaz dodged with ease. Kaz felt a pain. His vision blurred, he staggered backwards and fell onto his knees. The pain, it was unbearable. He had no energy. How could he fight? He almost blacked out, he heard a few running footsteps. His enemy was taking a punch that could have knocked Kaz's head off.
Kaz's hand instinctively whipped around, grabbed a needle from a desk that was behind him, and jumped up, dodging the punch and jamming the needle right into his enemy's eye. A glass-shattering scream erupted from the enemy. He screamed for a few whole minutes as he staggered around, wondering what to do as the worst pain he had ever known hit him. He tried to pull the needle out, but tugged to hard and took his eye out with it. More pain, more screams. This guy was angry.
But whilst the guy had been staggering around in pain, Kaz had been looking for weapons. He didn't nearly have the energy he had mere moments ago, but he could walk. He found a scalpel. Just beautiful. Kaz methodically cut his opponent, dodging blows and cutting again.
Blind rage. Cutting. Screams. Kaz staggered backwards and collapsed again. What had happened? He opened his eyes and saw his opponent, more dead than Kaz was, with only a flicker of life in his eyes. Kaz saw something unusual on his chest. Kaz looked to see what it was. He had carved 'twisted freak' into his opponent. Kaz should have felt sick and angry at himself. He didn't. This guy was sick, he had tried to beat on a guy who was nearly dead.
Kaz finished the job. When Chrysil returned, she would find Kaz lying on an infirmary bed, fully awake, relaxing. She would also find a scalpel jammed in Kaz's poor opponent's throat.

Chrysil found it, "That god damn card scanner," she'd nearly missed it to while going through piles of garbage. It seemed like the squatters had thrown it asside after they couldn't work out what it was meant for, if her and Kaz had been any later they would've likely thrown it into the river as well, then bye-bye for any hopes of discovering the cards manufacturing location. Either way, it was in her hands now and suddenly that one missing lead had been fired right back up again; the information she sought for felt like it was only a stones throw away. Chrys almost basked in the glow of the device, pressing the 'on' button just to make sure it did. Surely enough the thing beeped to life and several lights became illuminated on it..
Chrys opened her backpack and stuffed the gadget inside, somewhere near the bottom, and zipped it up tight checking to make sure no holes had been torn into the fabric. The horror of the thought of the scanner falling out because Chrys had been caught on some stupid snag and ripped a massive oval into her knapsack was an bleak fettered feeling. She turned and left, not bothering to search the rest of the place, "No point, I don't want to hang around here any longer; everything stinks and it's clinging to my wet body. Yuck," she picked up the pace after recalling that she'd left Kaz alone in the infirmary before hand and his wounds would likely need checking up on against soon.
She hit the button to lower the makes*** ladder leading through the chute and began to climb down, sliding the last ten rungs or so. A merry sense had overwhelmed her and the way she walked almost vibrated with content as the notepad in her head tapped away at the document she was writing up for the report the entire time; mostly going over the success they had on picking up the lead, dabbling in a spot where Chrysil had been forced to perform minor field surgery on Kaz but otherwise sticking to the given link mostly.
Chrys walked back through the battle scene she was too familiar with bow, noticing that some of the bodies had disappeared. Blood trails lead off in several directions indicating they were wounded and merely wanted to get away from any further danger mister Mishima could cause to them. As worried as she was that they might double back and try to get revenge or some stupid thing, Chrys wasn't too concerned about an armed bandit who had several wounds covering their body. With the lack of any more engagement in the time that had passed it was clear that no other squatters were in the area, or where going to bother messing with them anyway. The path ahead of them had been pretty much opened for free passage, "Win, win, win , win, win, win, win," Chrysil sang to herself while skipping down the steps to the dorm area of the dam.
The work places weren't all that bad, some of the bunks looked fairly comfortable as well; the mess hall was stocked well. Chrys wondered whether her and Kaz should eat something before they left from some of the non-perishables, but decided against it as to how dangerous the area was, and how much easier it would be to pick up a meal back at the Arklay Renegades anway. Before returning to the infirmary Chrys decided to check on other dorms and clothing to see if there were anything Kaz could use to replace his torn assets she'd been forced to ruin to access his injuries. Surely enough there were a couple of casual piece of clothing that would suit him, whether he liked them or not were beyond her which was primarily why Chrys collected several different pieces; just incase he was the fussy type. She skimmed over a couple of books and magazines that took her attention too, most of it was out of date but had a little information on the rest of the world that she had been unaware of before hand. Finally she packed up and went back to the infirmary.
Kaz was sitting up. Dead body was on the floor. Mess had been made and he had a huge bruise across his face, "What the hell happened?!" Chrys exclaimed while dropping what she had in her hands and running up to Kaz, ignoring the body on the floor. It was fairly obvious that someone had attacked, and Kaz had prevailed; that was impressive considering he was under morphine at the time, "Oh, you tore one of your sutures," Chrysil complained and pushed Kaz's left arm up to take the gauze strip off and examine the wound again, "At least your bullet wound didn't open up again... what am I kidding. I was stupid to leave you alone... damn," she remorsed on the situation, as calm and collected as Kaz appeared, and went back to work on his side knife cut that had a little blood seeping out again.
Chrys placed new gauze over the wound and let Kaz drop his arm, "One scare after another... it's been a while since I've been scared," she said, randomly, while staring at a blank tile in the middle of the room; putting a cold hand up to her face and pushing her hair back, almost robotically. She hopped off of the bench, "Don't over stress your joints or muscles, I don't want you to... open... that stuff..." Chrysil would be stupid to not admit that she was eying the dead body on the floor; she hadn't put effort into looking over the details, she'd been too worried about Kaz.
She knelt down, Chrys took a hold of the scalpel and yanked it out of the big guys throat, "What the f-" she didn't bother finishing the question, it was pretty self explanatory. The words haggardly cut into his chest, it was questionable as to who the 'Twisted Freak' was exactly. Chrysil flicked the scalpel, swiping the blood off of it and placing it on the bench next to her. She looked up to Kaz, concerned. Now that she thought about it, he appeared a little too calm and collected; the catalyst equivilant of squashing a fly. She stood up, "You feelin' okay Kaz?" she asked, looking at him.
If there was something wrong... pshycologically at least then it was probably better not to aggrevate it, 'But something is changing in Kaz, I can feel it,' she mulled over the scene one last time, "Nevermind," and picked up her jacket, "I found the scanner, if you can walk in a straight line then I suggest we back out of here to the Renegades," she commented and looked back at the dead man, "You have a real artistic flare, y'know that,"

Kaz looked at Chrysil. As he had waited for her return, he started to feel better overall. The adrenaline rush died down, but so did the pain. Kaz did not know why. He held his Taurus as he stood up. "Yeah... I can walk. I feel fine, actually..." Kaz replied to Chrysil. It was not the entire truth, he did still hurt and doubted that he could pull off his backwards roll from earlier. But he did not want Chrysil worrying. He winced at her comment about his 'artistic flair'. He could not remember a thing about fighting that guy. The guy who seemed to have blood splattered all over the place... Kaz tried not to think too much about it. He started to walk ahead of Chrysil, still clutching his Taurus.
As they proceeded through the Dam, Kaz heard wet footsteps. He motioned for Chrysil to be quiet, placing his finger over his lips. He peeked around the corner and spotted three guards. They all had bad injuries. One had a huge amount of blood leaking from his hip, another had a bullet-wound in his left hand, the last had his own knife jammed into his shoulder. Kaz started to realize just how brutal his fighting had been lately, yet he did not feel any guilt.
Kaz considered the situation, and suddenly heard voices. "The psycho stabbed me with my own knife... I can't get it out! We have to find him and kill him..." Kaz heard the somewhat raspy voice, and decided to take action. It would be the first time Chrysil saw his brutal fighting in action, to his knowledge. He dashed around the corner, clutching his Taurus in one hand and the knife he still had in the other. As the guards spotted him, they all fumbled for their guns. But Kaz was in a much better position. He got off two shots, one hit the hand-shot man in the neck, killing him somewhat slowly. The other missed completely. Now at close range, Kaz rammed his knife into hip-man's throat, leaving it there for now. He then pistol-whipped the last guy, knocking him onto the floor, and shot him in the head.
Done and dusted for now, Kaz retrieved his knife. Kaz saw two more guards in the corner. As an instinct, he dashed over to the nearest, and was about to shoot him at point-blank when the man spoke. "No, no, please don't kill me! I wont hurt you... Just don't kill me... You already did this" He motioned to his right knee, which had a bullet lodged in it. He then motioned to his chest, which had a kinfe wound. "Don't take my life as well..." The man's tone turned nasty. "You sick freak... Killing all my friends." The second man just burst into tears, he couldn't talk proerly due to the bullet in his throat, which would kill him within an hour if he wasnt treated. Kaz was about to shoot them both, but then he remembered Chrysil was there. She did not deserve to see this...
He holstered his gun. Entrusting his life to these injured men, who could easily shoot him in the back. "Come on, Chrysil. We should hurry."

Chrysil simply scowled at Kaz behind his back, 'Like hell you're fine,' she thought. Her sixth sense was poking holes in her brain to get through and take over, but Chrys knew when to stick with something even when the variables were way out of balance, 'Gotta figure this puzzle out before it bites me in the ass. By then it'd be too late. I'll bring it up when it gets worse,' she thought to herself, but the ultimate lack of any real feelings behind the death of the man back in the infirmary or pain stricken body had Chrysil stumped. Regardless, this added a lot to the story; something was going on... or had been going on behind the curtains at some point in history. She let it rest, for the time being the focus was on the card she had in her possession.
Chrys had been putting on her jacket when Kaz's killing spree continued, her vision slightly obstructed from view meaning she didn't see what was happening the first half of the debacle. Her attention was garnered after the first shot was fired, a squatter dropped to the floor with blood fountaining out of his neck and his two buddies quickly followed. All Chrys could do was stumbled backwards while sounding the first 'f' constant in the word 'f*ck'. Once the carnage was over she finished the single syllable sentence but was hit with the view of Kaz continuing towards another two squatters.
There were words, fuzzy though due to the stress that Chrysil was going through, and Kaz stopped his assault, "K-" she was about to mutter his name but found her voice was lost, the loss of motion in Kaz had made her think that the squatters had gotten the upper hand or something. More words followed and then Kaz seemed to holster his weapon, Chrys tried again to call but was ushered to follow before she could, "Y-yeah," she said in reply to Kaz and started following him up out of the dam. As Chrys started climbing the stairs one of the squatters had grabbed her by the scruff of her jacket which she quickly swiped away and returned with a burning glare, pulling the card scanner out and shaking it in her hand while sticking her tongue out at the a**hole. This was her attempt to regain a little sanity after seeing slaughter of that degree.
"Just want to see the sun. Just want to see the sun. Just want to see the sun." Chrys yammered, "Action reporter my ass, I should receive a medal for this kind of crap... an-and a billion dollars or something," she wiped wet from her face and rubbed her eyes, "God I could do with a hot meal right now, I mean it, we're eating as soon as we get back to Ivan's Renegades. And while we're doing that you can ask about for any of the ex-Umbrella employees to see what they know while I have seconds... maybe thirds. He'd better be dishing out the rice and curry too, or spaghetti. Or a massive freaking steak," Chrysil complained.
That last little rampaged had pushed her over the edge, she knew she'd be calm when she saw Melissa though. The little fox girl did little to remain hidden, her red hair could be seen popping up from the rock Chrys had asked her to stay at all the way back from halfway across the dam. Chrysil herself slowed down and let the sun cook her, "Oh yeah, that feels good," she stopped walking and closed her eyes while imagining a hot laser burning into her skin and sucking the water out of the remainer of her clothes, "Seriously... y'know. We may as well have been at the bottom of the ocean, it felt that way... did I mention I had to swing through a completely submerged portion of the dam?... I don't think I did. Yep. Had to hold my breath for god knows how long just for a freaking card scanner Broderick you bastard," She sniffed sucking in a large gob of mucus and spat it out onto the sun slick pavement, "Yearp, first I'm gonna eat, then I'm gonna strangle him, and then I'm gonna have seconds. He'd better give us some good collateral to add to all the bullsh*t we just went through,"
The two survivors headed for the end of the dam they had originally arrived from, the sun was at the other end of the time spectrum now and it'd likely be late afternoon by the time they made it back. Chrys kept a weary eye out for any squatters that might be looking back over them, she had noticed that the two Kaz had spared popped their heads up at one stage before disappearing back into the dam; she figured they were just making sure that her and Kaz were getting out of their place, but she still kept an eye on the stairs they'd both come from.
Chrys leaned her head to the right and tapped her left ear, some water dripped out, "Thought something was wrong there, pressure must have been tough on my right ear drum," she winked and contorted the right side of her face, as if it made things better. They'd reached the foot of the hill which lead down to the dam, on the other side of it lay the valley the two of them had approached from. Melissa hopped over the rock once she noticed that Chrys and Kaz were both returning at an even pace, her ears had been low the entire time but it was clear the danger was long gone now.
The girl ran up to the two of them, "I kept a look out the whole time, I went up and down the water bank and there were nothings to be worried about," she beamed, then saw Kaz, "Oh my. Oh dear. Are you okay, sir?" she asked after seeing the patched bullet wound, then turned to Chrys, "Is he okay?" then turned back to Kaz, "Are you going to be alright?" Chrys had taken note of Melissa's estranged concern for humans, she figured it was something she tried hard at to fit in but after a while the general idea of 'concern' had sunk into her personality and now it was permanently imprinted. It was annoying, but Chrys sometimes found it to be cute.
"Mel, he's fine, I think I'm more beat up than Kaz is..." Chrys said in a monotone, "It's like a forty tonne bucket of water had been dropped on me, oh wait," her sarcasm sprung up, but she quickly powered down while climbing the grassy knoll, "As long as you didn't get into trouble Melissa, then everything went smoothly," Chrys smiled.
Melissa smiled in return, fooled past a fools intersection, "Oh thank god, I was worried the whole time. I looked after your bikes too, check on them every ten minutes to make sure they were okay; I think they're fine for traveling back, I don't know because I've never ridden one," she continued to talk. Chrys could feel the annoyance growing on her and she grabbed Melissa around the shoulder, pulling her into a semi-hug while still walking, "Oh," the girl had been taken by surprise a little from this gesture, and simply hugged in return. Chrysil looked over to see whether Kaz had already gotten used to Melissa's ramblings or not.
Surely enough Melissa was speaking the truth, both of the mountain bikes were right where Kaz and Chrys had left them, "Good girl," she said to Mel and gave her ears a pat, "We're going downhill too, hows about that? Things get easier after they get harder, huh," she looked up at the canopy of trees looming in front of them, the gentle summer harbingers shooting through at random places, "I think I'm going to take the trip back a little slower this time, now that we have the scanner we're free to relax a bit, enjoy the sun and open air," she hopped over her bike, "You're free to shoot ahead if you like, Kaz. Just let Ivan know 'we got it' if you do,"
Before Chrysil started rolling down the hill she patted on the metal pan situated over the back seat while looking at Melissa who responded by jumping onboard before the descent started, 'The fatigue is overwhelming, but we can't rest yet; if information rings positive of what we find on this card then it could take us on an all new direction,' Chrysil thought, it was both a positive and a negative thing, "I'm used to not sleeping though, god knows how many times I went on caffein marathons to get a job done..." she hadn't realized that she'd said this out loud, not that it mattered, and received a blank stare from Melissa.
The bike back was tranquil, She followed an easy path that had the least pot holes so that Chrys wouldn't have to worry about control too much and could put more effort into thought, the wind racing through her hair and the random specks of sun which broke through the green forest canopy that warmed her face. Shrugging 'it' off was never an easy thing, but when Chrys did she worked at it until it never bothered her anymore. What Kaz had done back there was a memory now, but Chrys would be prepared next time he decided to perform a full frontal assault for any chaos that might be present in front of her.

Kaz followed Chrysil back to the bikes in silence. All the while, he was thinking about the slaughter that he had performed. Was he normal? He counted in his head. 19 people. Kaz had calmly killed 19 people, using guns, knives and scalpels. That was not normal. He shook his head, metaphorically shooing the thoughts away. He reloaded his Taurus and put all his guns into their respective holsters. He also threw the knife he had been using away. He watched roll a short distance down the road before coming to a stop. There was still blood on it.
He joined Chrysil and Melissa and followed them on his bike. Throughout the entire journey he thought about his emotion. About Chrys' reaction to the slaughter she witnessed, which was only part of it. Kaz dismissed all of the thoughts as hey were absurd. Kaz obviously had emotion, he passed it off as a unique form of shock after being shot. As he, Chrys and Melissa neared the renegade camp he realized that he had not said a word since they left. Interrupting whatever they had been talking about, he spoke. "Thanks Chrys... For getting the scanner, and helping me." He also spoke to Melissa. "And thanks for looking after the bikes, this journey would be much harder without them." It was all he could think to say.
Kaz pictured their return to the renegade camp. He would return the shotgun and assault rifle. He had not even used them, they were not his style. But he as glad he asked for them, better safe than sorry. Just as Kaz finished pictured them arriving, they arrived.
Returning the bikes and re-entering the camp, Kaz felt a sense of relief. This part of the task at hand was over. Now they had to scan the card, go to the lab, and find what they could on Carl. Who knows what else they would find in a lab like that. Those thoughts went through Kaz's mind as they walked through the camp.
Kaz stopped once they were around the middle. He left it up to Chrysil, return the card first, or rest and recuporate.

As Chrysil lifted her leg over the bike she couldn't help but feel a wave of energy flood out of her body, stumbling a little and tripping slightly causing her to hop and keep her footing and maintain the upright status of the bike at the same time. Chrys held her forehead feeling nauseous, it felt like all of the blood had gone to her head and was spinning around the inside of her cranium in some hexed wirlpool. Sound was drowned out for a moment while an odd sound of being underwater filled her ears, the sound of metal crunching on an endless loop in the distance. Chrys coughed lightly, not knowing why; there was no tickle at the back of her mouth, nothing stuck down her throat.
In a split second it had all gone, colour filled in the lines and sound returned to normal; the harbingers of sunlight cutting through the forest canopy blinded her a little but after a brief moment her eyes focused and it was like nothing had happened. Chrysil looked around herself to make sure no one had noticed and walked the bike back to Ivan's hut, wiping water from her eyes from the whole scenario, 'What in the sh*t just happened...' Chrys asked herself in a demanding matter, there was no reminiscence of the feeling, she couldn't remember the nauseousness, only the sound. A depth charge going off miles under water and the vibrations managing to reach her even at that distance. It sounded so strange, unlike anything she'd experience before.
Chrys rested the bike next to the steps leading onto the verranda, hopping up said stairs quickly after. Two thumbs on the hardwood door caused a "Enter..." to be called from somewhere inside. Chrys opened the door, waiting for Kaz to enter before closing it. She tossed the card scanner across the room, Ivan only narrowly catching it, "You only just got this thing and you're handling it like you want it smashed to bits," he grumbled, a look of distaste on his face
Chrys leant onto her left foot, hand to hip, "I'd complain on having that thing dead would stop either of us ending up in mortal situations, but I'd be lying," she wasn't. In this case, the saying went 'The sooner you die, the sooner your loved one can move on,' not that Chrys had anyone back home for her, "You'd better tell us something good from this card Ivan, or I might get a little angry," it was a solid threat that Chrys wasn't entirely appreciative of the crap her and Kaz just had to go through to retrieve what Ivan now held.
Ivan looked at Chrys with a stern face, "That bad huh..." then turned to Kaz, "You agree with everythin' she says?" he shook his head, "When I give a warning I mean it, don't give me that 'why didn't you hold me back' sh*t either. This is a bargaining world now, I take what I can get from whatever deal so the slack has to happen now. What you guys were tossed up in is yer own fault," Ivan pulled the black card out of his desk draw and fit the magnetic strip into the scanner while glaring at Chrys. A whirring sound could be heard as a neon light ran across the magnetic strip both length and width ways. Ivan pulled the card once it was finished and looked at the LCD display, smiling soon after, "This card has a firm link back to Umbrella and Tricell... but you aint going to like where it's going to take ya," the second half of his sentence was looking back up at Chrysil and Kaz's reactions, almost looking forwards to seeing them change.
Chrys was sick of waiting, she knew Ivan was taking some satisfaction from what would happen after the threat she'd ushered before; making her wish she'd kept her foul mouth shut, "Bring it out already, c'mon!" both her fists went down onto the desk. Ivan held the scanner out to her, Chrys took it from his grip and turned around not letting him take one glimps of her reaction. Which was a mistake, because from what would come Kaz was going to take the full force from it.
The scanner was sent crash landing to the ground, smashing and scattering all over the floor; Ivan had made a big mistake handing it to her. Chrys started walking for the exit of the room. Ivan stood up, "Hey! What the hell!?" he shouted at her, but she didn't respond. Chrys exited the hut and stepped off of the verranda, people had slowed to look in her direction but continued quickly noting what they'd hear had passed.
Chrysil let her head fall back as she gave out a quiet cry/moan combination before letting it fall forwards onto her chest. Once Kaz caught up she brought her view back to eye level, frowning, "We're going to Japan,"
