After the body had been dropped down off the stairs, Danica opened up the double doors, and than pushed through, responding to the teenager. "Hell yeah I crashed, had to break the gate down so I could get in. Normally isnt bolted down like it was, so I think theres more than likely people in here, or a butt load of those zombies. So if your coming in with me, keep your guard up, okay?" Danica didnt care if he came with her or not, just that he either made up his mind now, or didnt try to steal her truck.
Getting inside of the building, she aimed the shotgun forward from her hip. It was equiped with a flashlight, so the whole first area was lip up when she swung it back and forth. At first sight, there didnt seem to be any infected around, but she still kept her guard up. "Its clear in here, just letting you know... If your coming, make sure you keep up. Or if you wanna wait in the truck, thats fine with me, I dont think I should be too long here. But the second I hear that engine going, and im no the one driving, your not going to be standing longer than five seconds the next time I see you..." Danica spoke in a threatening tone, it wasnt hinted in her tone that she mightve been messing around or not.

Alex held his hands up passively at the woman.
"Don't worry I won't steal your truck, I can't even drive!" He said with a smile as he followed after the woman. Peering through the gloomy darkness, Alex couldn't see any signs of life. "It doesn't look like anyone's in here." He commented. "I can't imagine why they would be." Alex continued to walk into the building, looking around as he did. "Hmm, do you think this place has any food? I'm pretty hungry." Alex frowned as his stomach growled noisily. He was used to not being full, supplies tended to be limited at the orphanage, and the younger kids always got to eat first. Regardless, he hadn't had anything to eat yet that day, and was out of the bread he had taken with him.
Alex leaned against one of the walls with a sigh, resting his bat on the ground. "Man, everything's so cleaned out, you can't find food anywhere."

The small bag that she carried around her hip had been swing back and forth as Danica moved through the lobby of the building, everything that she was carrying around was bouncing about, and was actually weighing her down quite a bit now that she was out of the truck. Normally she wouldve left it in the back, but forgot to do so. As the teen mentioned that he was hungry, and was having a hard time finding food, she spoke out. "Yeah, its been about a month since the outbreak, most of the food is beginning to expire, and whatever was left over has been all scavenged out. Well, most of it, anyways. You gotta know where to look, I guess..."
After assuring herself that the area had been safe from the infected, and all other exits to the place had been closed off, Danica slung her shotgun on her should and than opened up her bag. Pulling out a bottle of whiskey, she opened up the cap, and took a mouthful. But than she put it back inside the bag, and took out a candy bar, handing it over to the teen. "Named Danica West..."

Alex smiled gratefully to the woman as she handed him the candy bar.
"Thanks Danicia!" He said, taking the bar. Opening the packaging carefully, he pulled it away from the bar and took a bite. "Mmm, it's really good! We never had to much candy back at the home so this is really a treat! Thank you!" Alex smiled to himself as he continued to lean against the wall, and nibble at the candy bar. He wasn't sure how long he should stay with this woman, he didn't want to be a burden and certainly didn't want to eat all of her food, but it was nice having some company for a change. Perhaps he would stick around long enough to help her with whatever she needed, maybe they'd find some food along the way. If she liked having him around, he'd stay longer. Otherwise, he'd take what food he could find and continue on his way. Alex shrugged to himself. That's the way these situations usually turned out.

As hard-assed as she normally was, Danica knew that the young teen was harmless. She could just tell it in his voice. She wasnt a mother, truthfully not very right in the head to take care of kids, but something about Alex just made sense. He was polite, something that she herself didnt get much of a chance to retain since the outbreak. It all depended on how people grew up. Thinking about it though, she was old than he was, and Danica thought she had it bad. The fact he was still alive was astounding, mustve known how to take care of himself.
"...Back at home?" It mustve been whatever he would consider home, not much of a word commonly used these days. "Ah, I mean... Your not just wandering around the city, are you?" The answer would just add to the interesting factor, whether or not he had a place to go was one thing, staying with her was another. "...I, uh, dont know if youd like hanging around with me, i guess is what im trying to say." She wasnt lying, her life really didnt have much of meaning. Danica usually negating to talk about her old life, and focused on living in her current one as best she could. She had absolutely no fear for the zombies, in fact, it was quite the opposite.
Hearing a sound coming from behind a door at the end of the room, Danica turned to face it, and than removed the crowbar from her belt. Seeing the door about to give way from the constant banging, she moved toward it, looking back at Alex only to motion that things were going to get messy. As the door opened up, Danica was ready to swing, but it seemed that it was a skinny man standing in the doorway. "Oh thank lord! I heard talking, and g-" but before anything else could come out, and infected grabbed onto him from behind, throwing him to the ground and taking a chunk out of his arm. Danica quickly swung the crowbar against the zombies head, and than hit it again when it was off to the side. But without helping the man up to his feet, she moved back over to Alex, and still kept out her crowbar tightly. "Come any closer toward me, and this is going through your skull. Got that?" Danica spoke out to the now bitten man, coldness in her voice.

Alex smiled pleasantly to Danicia.
"Oh no, I don't have a home at the moment. By home I meant the orphanage. Right now I'm just a wanderer." Alex raised an eyebrow at Danicia's concern, if that was what it was, but his face relaxed back into a smile. "I have no problem hanging out with another person for awhile." Alex hesitated for a moment. "Um, I just don't want to be a burden," Another pause. "Uh, and eat all of your food." Alex looked to the floor slightly ashamed.
When the banging began on a door in the room, Alex quickly picked up his bat to defend himself. He relaxed slightly when there was simply a man on the other side, but froze in shock as he was attacked. Alex watched helplessly as Danicia relentlessly killed the creature. It was as if she had no fear, as if she enjoyed it. When it was over, Alex lowered his bat slightly, but kept it in hand, worried about the man on the floor turning, but unable to be as heartless about it as Danicia.
"Wait, Danicia, isn't there something we can do for him? Find a doctor or something?"

The man had already started squirming around on the floor of the room, unable to even react to the situation with anything human. He started to foam at the mouth a little, vigorously rolling around. Thrashing about, he jumped onto his legs, and than turned to face the other two survivors, hearing the younger kid speak. But before he could say anything, Danica interrupted with a click of a hammer from her shotgun. "We could kill him now, get it over with. Or let him go, and die in several hours. I was being nice when I gave him the chance to run away, but you can see hes not going to cooperate. They change in more ways then one, before they turn into a zombie."
The man picked up a chair from the side of the room, and heaved it at the both of them. Alex dipped out of the way quick enough, but Danica was sent stumbling backwards, the shotgun getting knocked from her grasp and sliding under the desk, out of reach. Getting to her feet, she had the crowbar drawn, but the man already taken her to the ground. "Just gonna shoot me, b*tch?! You have no soul, I have a family back in Stoneville, waiting for me!" The man punched Danica int he face, and the strong willed woman let out a small scream in pain, not used to getting hit in the face by a man.

Alex's first reaction to the man's violent change was one of shock. He barely managed to dodge the chair that was thrown, stumbling backwards and hitting his head on the wall. Slightly dazed, he looked up to see the man lunging for Danicia, pinning her to the ground and striking her. When she screamed, Alex reacted instinctualy. Hoisting his bat and and readying it to his right, he sprinted to the left of Danicia and the man, letting out a savage yell. In response, the man looked up at him, just as Alex's bat connected with his face at full force. The a gut wrenching crack and a spurt of blood the man flew backwards a meter. Alex followed and delivered three more savage blows to the man's head. Suddenly, the gravity of what he had just done sunk in. In shock Alex stumbled backwards, landing on his rear and dropping his bat with a clatter to the floor. Shakily he raised his hands to his face and stared at the man he had just killed.
"I...I didn't mean to, I swear!" Alex began shaking violently and sweating. "He....he was still alive, still okay...and I killed him." Alex stuttered as the tears overwhelmed his eyes, unable to accept the monstrous thing he had just done.

Laying on the ground, tears welling in her own eyes, but vocals sounds not coming from her mouth, Danica got back up to her feet. The man was dead on the ground, blood now leaking and pooling onto the floor. The blood on the bat that lay on the ground in front of Alex had the same fresh blood, and the woman knew exactly what he did. her tears stopped as she felt the mark on her face, but shook it off and directed her full attention toward the kid Alex. There wasnt a whole lot that she could say to comfort him, only the words that made sense, no matter how tyrannacal they sounded. "It was him or me. You chose me over him for a reason, because you knew deep down inside that he was going to kill me. Then kill you, its just how things are. Kill or be killed in this world, its how its always been even before the outbreak..."
But it was then that Danica realized that her words probably werent helping the kid out very much. Wiping the blood off from the crowbar, she put it back into her belt, and than got down on her stomach to fish out the shotgun from under the desk. While she done this, she spoke out in a more understanding tone. "The first time you kill is the hardest, I know how you feel. But listen, it could be much worse. You could enjoy it like I do. Thats how I started, your age, but it only shaped me into a person that didnt regard others as important. The zombies dont scare me, they dont pose a threat. People like that, the psychopathic crazies, they will kill you if your not ready. Its good that you still have your sense of right and wrong, but you did what needed to be done, there doesnt have to be justice."
Now standing up with her shotgun, Danica looked down at the man, and felt a hint of remorse for him. Or rather, not quite for him, but for that family he spoke of. If his family really was still alive, they would be looking for him back in Stoneville. That was the one thing that haunted her, no matter how cold the feeling in her heart was. But that wasnt important right now, what was important isnt anymore. "I forgot why I was here... I dont remember. I just got so caught up in killing zombies that I forgot my goal. Thought I had remembered it at one point, but not anymore. Now I just slay the stiffs. Not much of a life, but I have no family to settle down with, no friends. Just me, my gun, my ammunition, and my playground of the undead"

Alex continued to tremble in shock as Danicia spoke.
"I...I don't believe that, there's always another way..." He managed to say, although hardly believing it himself. As Danicia continued to speak, Alex began to come to his senses and the trembling wasn't quite so violent. "Well...uh, I-I guess...I just feel so...dirty, I guess." Alex silently cursed his lack of a broader vocabulary. Dirty didn't even begin to describe how he felt.
Alex stared up at Danicia as she finished her final sentence. He was slightly shocked, but at the same time understood where the woman was coming from. "Well, I don't mean to be rude, but that's a bit sick." Alex said sheepishly not wanting to insult the woman. He took a deep breath and clutched at the locket beneath his shirt. "But, I do understand where you're coming from. I don't have a family either, in fact, I can't even remember mine. What I do have is the memory of the stories I was told about them, and a picture to know their faces." Alex said with a sad smile. "I guess that's why I stick around this place. I'm holding onto a memory I never had, because for me, it's the only one worth living for." Alex punctuated his sentence with a difficult but sincere smile to Danicia. Alex gripped the locket tighter as a new though came to mind. "I hope my parents would think that what I did was right." He said quietly to no one in particular, his eyes fixed to the motionless body of the man he had killed.

"Its always a tough call to make..." Danica spoke, slinging her shotgun onto her shoulder. She walked past the body on the ground, and than peeked into the roof he came from. Inside there had been the smell of rotting flesh, much stronger than in the other room. It hadnt really effected her, as she was very much used to it by now, but it was strong enough to notice. Coming back into the previous room, she spoke again. "...Lets say we let him stay with us. He would do much worse of a job at slowing me down than you would. Um, well, no offense, of course. Your not really slowing me down any. Guess it proves im not so sick in the head as to just ignore you, not give a single sh*t as to who you are and where your going. But I agree, I am sick, and theres nothing I can do about that anymore."
Reaching for her small bag, Danica picked up her canteen, and found that it was empty. Shaking it a little, there wasnt even a single drop left, no residue to even lick from the cap. It was than she realized why she was here, to refill her water. In turn, it would refilter the cities supply, and distribute it to all major pump stations, at least. Than if she needed water, she wouldnt have to get it from the rain, or trek all the way up here. "Water, I need water. This place has lots of it, its just not getting distributed into Raccoon City. Thats why I came here, to get the water moving again, filter it. Youve drunk any purified water in quite some time, have you?"

Alex blinked in confusion. "Purified water?" He asked. "Uhm, I filled up my water bottle with a puddle of rain water if that counts." Alex held up his grimey plastic bottle that was half way filled with a light brown liquid. "I'm not sure if I've ever had 'purified' water or whatever, but this is pretty good." Alex gave Danicia a beaming smile, forgetting his previous sadness. "I would love to help you get the water back on though! What do we have to do?"
(OOC: Sorry for the short post Joe. I've been sick and just wanted to get things movin again lol.)

Shaking her head when she seen the kids water, it just made her a little unsettled knowing that he was forced to do this. Danica herself drank some pretty bad water in her time, but if your doing to be drinking any fluids, she was going to make sure it was disease free. It was apparent that Alex had been drinking the dirty water for awhile, and it seemed okay to him, so she was a little relieved to know.
Running up the metal steps, she leaned over the railing, into the large tank of water. It was obviously stagnant, undrinkable, and most likely polluted with the virus. A large supply of water like this was nearly impossible to filter, and the smallest trace of the virus inside of you would be a vacation to zombietown in just a matter of weeks. It spread like nothing shed ever seen, wasnt just from bites, but any injestional contact with it at all. Looking back at Alex, Danica spoke. "Were too late, the virus is already inside the water supply. Maybe if we explore the lower levels, we might be able to find a reserve, but filtering it with the main water tanks would compromise its purity. So, man, woman, and child for themselves, we take whatever we can get at, and then put it behind us."

Alex peered over the railing into the tank, blinking in confusion. "How do you know its infected? It just looks like water to me." Alex nodded at the suggestion to search the lower levels. "Do they have that many reserves? I guess I don't know too much about this kind of stuff."
Alex peered around the room, and noticed a time worn sign. He walked to it and blew the dust off, coughing as the cloud of particles enveloped his head. The boy leaned in and attempted to make out the words on the sign. He turned and called out to Danicia.
"I think it says there's a stairwell this way." Alex pointed off to his right. "But I could be wrong." Alex said with a frown. "I'm not the best reader, and the sign's kinda messed up."
