Skyrim was once a beautiful land that was home to the Nords. Civil war brought about a dark time for the province but freed it from the unjust Empire. Dragons roam the sky but one hero kept them in their place...for a time. Now the kingdom is overrun and controlled by Vampires. The one known as the Dragonborn took the Vampires' side and helped the Vampire Lord Harkon claim the magical bow and perform the ritual to block out the sun. Dragons are under the control of the Dragonborn and the living are all forced into slavery or to fight for their lives.
Fort Dawnguard is the last bastion of hope to living refugees. Those who survived the Dawnguard massacre or joined afterwards fight to keep the living safe and aim to stop the Vampire Lord Harkon.

Qahnaarin sat with a group of children in the entrance to the fort. With a book in his hand he told the story. "...All of a sudden a giant evil gate appeared in front of the city. Evil Daedra poured out of the gate and attacked it in the middle of the night. Only a few were able to flee but within the hour, the city was ablaze. A hero saw this blaze and the smoke and headed for the city to see what was the matter. Many told him what happened and that he should flee but instead he headed up the path to the gate. The guard captain told him that there were men inside trying to close it but he was unsure of their fate. This hero headed in regardless and found a few dead guards. Around the corner in this hellish world, a guard was fighting off two Daedra. With a mighty swing of his sword he slayed the monsters. The hero spoke with the guard and told him that he fought bravely and he should return through the gate to rest. The hero continued into the world until..."
The Khajiit was interrupted by a man on the balcony above. "Qahnaarin, the prisoner is speaking!" Qahnaarin took off for the stairs and went into the torture room, making sure to close the new door behind him. The door was put in place to keep children out and the noises of torture in. The Vampire was covered in blood, cuts and multiple colored liquids he presumed to be poisons. They kept the Vampire alive so that his torture could last so they could get information. The Vampire was muttering something the perked Qahnaarin's ears. "An Elder Scroll...an Elder Scroll...an Elder Scroll..." the torturer kept pressing for more information but nothing else came. Everyone in the room shared a nervous and questioning look.

Jazari was leaning on the stone wall watching Qahnaarin read to the children when the man interrupted. she quickly headed up to the torture room, getting in just before Qahnaarin did. The vampire's muttering quickly caught her interest, constantly mentioning "an Eldar Scroll" but nothing else. This was troubling. She knew that the vampires had an Eldar Scroll, she had seen in on the back of the female vampire that occompanied the traitor Dovakhiin once when she was scouting the area around the pier near solitude that the vampires used to go between their island and the mainland, she had informed the remaining Dawnguard of this a couple of weeks ago. Could they be looking for another scroll?
"Could he be refering to the scroll that the vampires have?"

Joining the Dawnguard almost seemed like a silly idea, mostly because they were trained warriors with plated armor and swords. Even that nifty crossbow was a little too primitive for Clarissas liking. But they were survivors, and if anything, that included her, so involving herself with them made all the sense. They had no clue about her ailment, but in time, they would accept it or drive her away. Being half and half made things difficult, because if she wasnt welcome here, then she wasnt welcome anywhere. The vampires didnt want her as far as she knew, but seeing how the Dawnguard treated the bloodthirsty nightstalkers, giving herself away was going to wait.
The only reason she came to this place was because of her powerful destruction magic, and abilities to weaken the vampires, to assist in combat. Maybe even a healer, her skills didnt stop anywhere in specific. Fort Dawnguard had beds, and food, so it was a good place as any to make camp at least. Still, whatever business they had mustve been important, because nobody even came to speak to her since she arrived at the gate. Maybe the watchguard was on break or something? "Hello? Can somebody let me in, please?" The red headed girl spoke out, removing her hood and staring up around the top.

The Vampire wasn't helping any but it sounded as if there was a new prophecy that the Vampires knew about. They had the Moth Priest that read the original Scrolls so they were more than able to read this one.
"Qahnaarin doubts this is old news. Something new is happening." Qahnaarin said simply trying to figure out what this could mean. A way to stop the Vampires? A way for them to stop the living? A bigger threat than dragons and Vampires?
A knock at the door signaled a new comer. A younger scout stood on the other side of the door. Qahnaarin stepped out to speak with him. "An outsider is at the gates. She wishes entry to the fort. Shall I let her in?" The boy asked.
"Yes let her in but keep your distance and lock the door behind her so she cannot escape if she is one of them. Get out of the lobby and raise the gates!" Qahnaarin ordered to everyone. Within seconds the area was empty and the gates were up. This kept anything that was unwanted away from the others.
Qahnaarin readied himself with the sunblast spell all Dawnguard know. This either destroyed a Vampires connection with a person or killed a Vampire, so long as it wasn't a Lord.

Jazari nodded to Qahnaarin's thoughts since they were in tune with her own. she was about to say something when a knock sounded. the young scout who knocked said there was an outsider asking to come in. Qahnaarin quickly gave sensible orders, getting everyone out of the lobby. Jazari quickly moved to a spot on the upper floor where not only she had a clear shot at most of the lobby for a sneak attack, it was nearly impossible to see her.
when everyone was out of the lobby and the gates inside were raised she readied an arrow on her ebony bow and shouted, "Okay, open the gate!"

By the security, Clarissa felt like she wasnt wanted here, and that maybe coming was a big mistake. But finally, the gates opened, and she had slowly began to walk inside and up the path to the forts front door. This was the first time she had been here, even seen this place, and the archetecture was simply amazing. The young mage felt like a scholar, discovering an old relic of some kind, but this was far from abandoned. The work done on the outside had been recent, that was for certain, which meant that there was a good number of people contributing to the fort already.
And they were all Vampire Hunters? A terrifying thought to be a Vampire, thankfully Clarissa wasnt one of them. Well, no enough to notice, or be affected by things such as sunlight. The only thing that sun did for her was annoy her, but you didnt have to be a vampire to hate the sun. She always preferred the night, it was quieter, more serene, and much cooler when physical excertion was a must. Complete darkness was the way to go, nothing a magelight spell couldnt remedy and balance out.
"Im not one of them, you can look at my eyes in the light, see?" Just that was casted the closer she got to the fort, and a small ball of light hovered around her. There had been a glisten in her eyes, but not a hunger, or gold tinge, it was human eyes. Deep ocean blue, peaceful. "Ive come to help you combat the threat. Ill show you my destruction magic, if you like. Fire burns them greatly, and my Flame skills are devastating..." A quick fireball was throw into the air, but then controlled to circle around, and draw a triangle before closing back up into her palm. Simply not a constant rush of flames, or launching a projectile, but controlling its movements was a sign of mastery.
Why they would take in such a young girl was questionable, this was something on her mind. Clarissa was used to being told to bigger off like the child she was, but she was no mere child with the magic skills she had. A large portion of Adventurers lost interest in Magic Using, tending to stick with a sword and shield, or even a Bow. But she never touched one, only focused her combat into magic, creating a weapon on its own. The variety of spells would outmatch most, even get them killed if they werent careful. "...Ive killed plenty just coming here, I have dust to prove it if you let me inside."

Qahnaarin had the spell ready, the only one in his arsenal, when the girl spoke. She explained herself and showed her skills with Magika. He had to follow protocol though and still cast the spells, though he felt he should at least explain. He motioned to Jazari to lower her weapon seeing as the spell would do just fine if she were a thrall and killing their own kind wasn't in their books anymore.
"Qahnaarin must cast this spell. It is the way we work to keep us safe from them and any they may command. It won't hurt since you are not them." He said to the girl before the room was filled with sunlight. "Now you may enter the rest of the fort and Qahnaarin will greet you proper." He said upon seeing the results of the spell.
The gates to the other areas came drown and the front doors became unlocked. Qahnaarin made his way down the spiral stairs to meet the girl in the lobby. "Qahnaarin is my name. What is yours? He spoke the words kindly like he was speaking to an old friend.

Jazari was tense, despite the girl obviously not being a vampire. She had a very good Intuition that she had learned to rely on, saving her life many times not only during her growing up, but during the civil war and the time before fort dawnguard's siege. every warning bell in her gut was telling her that this girl was dangerous, and not because she was obviously a master destruction mage. she reluctantly lowered her bow when Qahnaarin motioned her to, watching events proceed. after the sunblast spell was caste, the inner gates were lowered and the door unlocked Jazari followed Qahnaarin down the spiral stair case.
"something isn't right," she told him, "my gut's telling me this girls bad news."
as they walked into the lobby, Qahnaarin spoke kindly to the girl, talking like she was an old friend. She slowly circled behind the newcomer, she loosened her sword and dagger in case her gut was right.

The spell was casted, the one that glowed with sunlight. Clarissa hadnt seen a spell like it before recently, only read about in books and from stories. But when it finally hit her, she felt the warmth, just as a human would. It was over in a few seconds, and finally, her acceptance was granted. Still, there had been an unpleasant tinge of pain through he skin, although no color change thankfully.
Inside the fort, it was more magnificent then the outside, and sparked her interest just that much more. Clarissa did notice the pair exchanging low toned words before coming up to her for that greeting, but it was expect of any newcomer, especially one show up during the middle of the night in hooded robes. When the Kahjit spoke, his voice was very friendly, much like every single sort of their kind. "Forgive me for talking to you differently because of your race, but its just... Your kind if much more friendly then most humans ive met in my travels, no offence..." She turned to the other female, who obviously had been on edge.
"...Clarissa. Of course im a Breton, its not that hard to tell, and im only fifteen years old. I was abandoned as a child, so dont even think about making jokes, because ive heard them all. I once turned a Bandit into Grilled Leek because he taunted me about my age!" The fired up red head began to have sparks coming from her hands, but it stopped after a few seconds. By now, the pair would either think shes crazy, or have fuel to combat the menace.

Being born in Elsweyr offered him traits the Khajiit born in Skyrim didn't offer. His feet were more like a cat's paws, his nose was keener, and his eyes adjusted better to darkness making his night eye skill unnecessary. The moment he was close enough he caught the scent. Something was off in the Breton and he could tell. His eyes narrowed his eyes and when he realized what the scent was he knew she had something Vampiric about her or on her.
"Remove the Vampire Dusts and take them away." He said with a slight growl in his voice. A Dawnguard took them away from the girl and Qahnaarin took in a deeper breath through his nose. It remained and wasn't any stronger. "How? The spell would have hurt you and how are you covering most of your scent? She is Vampiric but the spell didn't work." He explained to Jazari as he readied his weapons. "Clear the area and raise the gates again." He ordered as everyone did as he said and the gates raised once more.

Jazari slowly drew her weapons the moment Qahnaarin ordered one of the dawnguard to take the vampire dust away from her. It seemed that her gut was once again accurate. listening to Qahnaarin she decided to treat this "clarissa" with the same level of caution she would with vampire lords, if not more. "I guess my gut is right once again Qahnaarin." she said as the inner gates were raised. her Dragonbone sword was in her right and her steel dagger in a reverse grip in her left. but something seemed off about the outsider, she was dangerous, no doubt about that, however she seemed to not wan't to fight. "Why don't you explain little girl," she said coldly, " why you smell like a vampire. otherwise we will have to assume that your here to try and kill us and the people in our care. if so, we'll have to kill you."

If I came here to kill you all, I would be pretty foolish. Theres one of me, and im guessing a ton more of you. Maybe I could take out a few, but in the end, id be dead within a small amount of time. As much as she wanted to blurt this out, she didnt do so. Instead, answered honestly, because in the end, that was always the best choice of words. "Okay, but I warn you, im still not exactly sure about it myself..."
It was good that the Dawnguard were ready to kill her, it meant these people were safe to be with, if they had been attacked. Being ready for anything was a good system, if she had been a vampire, that spell wouldve given it away instantly, and they wouldve had the upper hand right from the start.
"I wasnt bitten by one of them, only caught Sanquinare Vampiris from an attack a few years. Ive never completely the transition, im guessing because of the strength of my magika. Though, im thinking theres something more too it, maybe my parents, my genes. I never knew my parents, I was raised by the College of Winterhold. I came to the Dawnguard to maybe find answers, I didnt want to cause trouble, I swear! Maybe I have the key to all of this somewhere inside me, or maybe im just looking for something to do with my life, im not sure, but it was either join the Vampires or Join the humans. Because I got tired of wandering."

Qahnaarin eyed her suspiciously and didn't lower his guard. He listened to her speak and she seemed to be telling the truth. He motioned to Jazari to not attack, but not to lower her guard. "Qahnaarin trusts that you are telling the truth but if you become a blood sucker, Qahnaarin will kill you." The Khajiit warned the girl. He turned away from her to head back to the chamber to discuss battle plans, they were going to needs a new prisoner and he had his eye on changing the tides of this war. A Vampiric Jarl of Riften. Being well advised, he would know about the scroll, especially if Harkon requested any fort of aid.
If they could remove the seat of power in Riften and inspire the living left to fight against the oppressing force, the city could become a front lines against the Vampires. "The canals are an easy access point and if we send in a few men ahead of time we can swarm from multiple entrances. Fight along those who chose to fight while a group snatches the Jarl and drags him out the southern gate." Qahnaarin's plans were always simplistic in the planning but when it came to the actual execution, those who had never worked with him would fail. Qahnaarin stood over the table with the map of Skyrim waiting for a response.
------------------------
In Cyrodiil the front line against Harkon's invading army was pushed back daily. Their aim was the capitol and from there controlling the Empire. While Harkon sat on the throne of the previous High King in Windhelm, his army pushed through the Pale Pass into Cyrodiil. A large ship looking foreign to all docked in Windhelm. Offs the boat stepped the evil Vampiric Snake people of Akavir. Their plans for Tamriel were never good and their presence in Windhelm couldn't mean anything good either.

As jazari listened to the girls story she noticed Qahnaarin motioning her not to attack, like it was needed. Her gut was telling her that the girl was speaking the truth, and that she had wanted to say something else at first, probably something mocking. she sheithed her dagger, but held onto her sword as a precaution. "alright, your on probation." she said calmly, "since you are infected with the sanguinare vampiris we have to be careful. if you start to fully turn we will kill you." she shrugged, "it will be a mercy if anything." she started to turn and follow Qahnaarin when she stopped and looked back at 'clarissa'. "before i forget, welcome to fort Dawnstar. Im Jazari." she spoke welcomingly as she held out her hand.
