Elijha yawned a bit as she stretched her arms. She followed Marvin out of the office until it came time to part ways. He went to the gun range, as she went to the break room. She had left her things in there as she tried for her nap as best as she could. Sighing a bit as she knew no one was around. She closed her eyes as she leaned up against one of the chairs. She was tired, and she also knew that sleep wasn't going to be coming anytime soon. Shaking her head she picked up her weapons holstering them, and slinging the other on her back. She slipped on her helmet as she made her way out of the break room.
Her gloves following behind as she exited the building into the garage. As Marvin climbed into his car, she was reeving up the engine on her motorcycle. Once he had pealed out of the garage she was right behind him. Keeping up with him fairly easily. Her bike was modified thanks to Mist, along with the rest of their vehicles. Made for top performance, and to match those creatures that came at them or ran from them. They had to know how to handle their vehicles. Her's happening to be the motorcycle, and Marvin's a damn nice looking car.
Elijha took pride on being one of these females that could compete with any male there was. So she found it kind of funny that in the end she was getting a tad bit of help. So she took it upon herself to try and best those of her own kind, and Marvin just happen to be the best. Not to mention the only one she had found herself looking up to. He knew his job, and he did it well. Ever since she had come to Mist he had treated her like a person and not a monster. He was one of the people she looked up to, and now the only one since her parents fell far from that scale now.
The tower gleamed over the visor of her helmet, as they continued to pass several cars, and rounded a corner. Even to her she could notice several busted out windows. Biting her lip she glanced over the building, and it just seemed that it was only the top floor. "This isn't good," she spoke into her built in mic. "I can see several window's busted out, and if we have any flayers that means it's highly possible they made it out into the city." As Marvin pulled to the front, she did a once around of the building, before meeting him at the front. Her bike parked the opposite way of Marvin's.
Throwing down the kickstand, she sat there staring at the building for a moment. Shaking her head, she reached up and unstrapped her helmet. Slowly removing it to allow her hair to move freely, she rested the helmet on the right mirror. Her eyes never leaving the building, as her own mind sit there and ran threw several scenarios as she figured that Marvin's was doing as well. Finally satisfied she climbed off her bike, and grabbed her headset from the hidden compartment. Sticking it in her ear, she walked up to meet Marvin as they headed toward the man in charge of the operation.

"Doubtful." Marv said into the small earbud microphone he had set in his ear before exiting his car. He looked over at her and then to the broken windows.
"It it were them, there'd be chaos all over the place. We have cops and civilians around, which means those things couldnt have gotten out." He said, looking at the rather normal looking scene. At least, as normal as it could be with a mass of cops, reporters, and civilians milling around for one reason or another. "You." Marv said to a passing police officer. "Who's in charge?" He asked.
"The cheif." The officer said simply and rushingly, pointing at a portly officer looking over a set of blueprints. Marv walked past him and up to the cheif.
"I'm Special Agent Callahan. Thats Special Agent Perry, from the FBI. Whats the situation?." He said with a commanding tone tempered in years of commanding soldiers in battle. The cheif replied "I just lost two SWAT teams in less than 15 minutes. No one I talk to can give me a straight answer as to whats going on."
Marv nodded uninterestedly and said "All right. We're going up."
"Your fu*king crazy man, both of ya. You think you two are going to stand a chance against whatever tore up ten highly trained, fully equipped men?" He asked, disbelife on his face.
"Thank you for your cooperation." Marv said, walking toward his car. He motioned Elijha over and said "All right. We go in, get on the elevator, and go straight to the top. According to our reports and the basic evidence around, nothing has gotten out. Either thats true, or your comepletely right. Lets hope your wrong." He said, openening his trunk and taking off his coat. Tossing it inside, he grabbed a combat vest and put it on. Taking care to make sure everything was in place, from his ammo to his knives, he slammed the trunk down and made way to the elevator.
Pushing the button and seeing it was coming down the 56 floors from the top, he looked over at Elijha and coughed.
"So...hows home life going?" He asked, remembering thats she was having a few problems here or there.

Elijha flinched slightly when Marvin had asked her about her home life. She wished he hadn't that way she wouldn't have to lie about it. Her parents were highly respected among their fields, and well known threw out the FBI branch. Speaking low of them could possibly cost her job, and at the moment she couldn't afford it. Heck she couldn't even afford sleep anymore. Her body every night screaming for sleep, but it would never come. She sighed a bit regretting lying to Marvin, but she didn't want anymore problems arising than she already had.
"Same old boring stuff," she said a bit dryly as she looked blankly at the elevator door. She bit her lip slightly and her heart jumped when she seen the door open. She stepped in waiting for Marvin, and then pushed the button for the top floor. "I'm hoping I'm wrong," she said trying to change the subject. Still her eyes never drifted to look at him, because at the moment she didn't know if she could look at him. Sighing heavily she closed her eyes and just stood there. "If they got out, by the looks of the crowd they possibly could have scattered, and that will make it a pain to try and find them."
She reached out and put her hand up against the wall of the elevator without even opening her eyes. Her scenes roaming threw the metal of the building feeling every vibration that ran threw it, from heavy movement to the simple building structure still settling in. To her though it was like looking threw her eyes at a person. She could see things as clear as day, as long as it moved. The building constantly settling kept a small vibration going threw the building enough for her to picture the entire structure in her head.
"I'm still getting movement on the top floor. That's always good." She allowed her senses to travel to the rest of the building picking up on anything else that may have been there. "Looks like the entire building is clear, and none of them have managed to make it to the lower levels." Elijha's hand jerked away from the wall as her eyes darted to the top of the elevator. There was a sudden jerk, and the elevator stopped. It wasn't to much longer before the sound of a cable hit the top of the elevator, and there was a slight jerk.
Elijha reached out to the wall, but was to late as she was thrown to the ground at the sudden drop of the elevator. She struggled to climbed to her feet, as her hand gripped the railing. Her abilities allowing her to take control of the structure of the elevator, and adapt it to her will. In this case several large spikes extended from the elevator brining it to a sudden stop, and once more she found herself on the ground. Elijha panted heavily as she looked around the elevator, and to Marvin. "Y- you okay," she asked threw a gaspy breath. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out her inhaler. Taking two quick breaths, and leaning back up against the wall. She sighed with a bit of relief as she closed her eyes. "Seems they don't want us getting up there," she said with a heavy laugh.

"Ya, seems like it..." Marv muttered, slinging his Thompson over his back. Grabbing a knife from his vest, he held it in his teeth and reached up. Flipping the top panal up, he looked up and saw it looked clear. Grabbing the edges, he lifted himself up with his arms and looked at the shaft. The rope was coiled messily on top of the car where it had fallen. His first order of bussiness was the cable itself. More importantly, the way it had broken.
After looking, he saw that broken was the wrong word. Even cut didnt work. More like... His eyes lit up as he saw what had happened. Kneeling to the hole and looking at Elijha, he showed her the end of the cable and said "Now...this doesnt look like an NMC got hungry and snapped the cable. It doesnt even look like some jerk off with a pair of bolt cutters wanted to kill us. This looks like some jerk off with a plasma cutter tried to kill us." He held up the melted cable that looked like a blade hot enough to flash melt the metal in one swipe was used to cut it.
"Something else is up, not just some breakout of stupid monsters. Someone, and I do mean someone, is here. But, either way, we have determined that the elevators are no longer safe. Come on, were taking the stairs." He said, holding his hand down to help her up.

Elijha moaned slightly as she took Marvin's hand, and climbed onto the top of the elevator. "Great we have monsters that try to kill us, and now human beings." She shook her head as she looked to the elevator door that was just above them, and then the one where the elevator had gotten stuck between the two floors. "Though I think I'd rather have them just hating us then try to kill us. That part makes work a bit more difficult," she said lightly as she walked over to the lower door.
With his help they were able to open the door. Elijha slipped out first with her weapon in hand. She took a few steps forward and scanned the area. "Alright it's clear," she said lightly. She looked back at Marvin as he tried to climb out of the elevator shaft and laughed just a bit. "You know if you were a few sizes smaller you probably wouldn't have any problems," she joked referring to his muscular size. Once they were set, they started moving out across the floor. Though she knew what she felt within the building it still never hurt to be overly pre cautious. She never knew when they might run across a creature that could hid it's movement.
Opening the stair well, once Marvin made sure it was clear. She followed him in. "Well at least we made it a good way up. Damn that walk could have been a killer," she said as she started following him up the stairs. From that point she remained quite keeping her eyes on their surroundings, and making sure that nothing crept up on them from the rear.

"Speak for yourself." Marv said, refering to her comment about the stairs. As weird as it was, as much as he smoked, he would have been able to run up the stairs without breaking a sweat. He knew that his lungs were fine because his mitocondria took care of the foreign substance when he smoked, but her asthma was pre-existing. Her mitochondria couldnt cure a genetic problem.
"And just because your a skinny midget doesnt make me a giant." He said, quite late. He only said it to be obnoxious. He wasnt actually overly big. Five foot nine and 260 pounds. Dense muscles because his mitochondria had taken his body back to the day he had been strongest in his life. Just shortly after boot camp, circa 1930 something or other. Only a select few people knew how old he really was. Elijha didnt. He had a feeling that something like that was pushing the borders of reality to some people, even to people like them. And that was why he kept it a secret. The only public combat experience on his record was the late years of Vietnam, and then being a police officer in New York.
After a fairly short climb of about 20 floors, they made it to the top of the tower. Marv slung his Thompson in favor of his compact Mossberg, pumping a round into the chamber before standing by the door. He looked at Elijha, and when she signaled she was ready, he threw it open and crouched, making sure he was there to be the first line of defense while giving her a clean shot at whatever was there. But...there wasnt anything here.
Inspecing the inside, he saw that there were in what looked like a foyer. The elevators were to the right, and it was apprant they had been tampered with. If you could call it tampering. The doors were bent outward by something with incredible strength, folded against the walls like they were made of tin foil.
"Well...I dont think it's NMC's we're dealing with..." Marv repeated. Any NMC, if they had that kind of strength, would have plowed in the doors, and probably gone plumeting down the shaft. "Any ideas? This sure aint human..." He asked her.

Elijha shook her head as she looked up at Marvin. "I have no clue," she said lightly as she walked over to the elevator. She ran her hand along the door before looking into the dimly lit elevator shaft. "Well we know what floor the cord was cut," she said as she turned back to him. "Doors still warm as well. You can even tell where it's been melted for something to grip it in order to open it up." She pointed out as the melted version of the elevator door. Elijha walked back to stand beside Marvin, as her eyes danced around the forayer.
"Large floor . . . lots of doors, and lots of traps." She pondered out loud. She knelt down and rested her hand against the floor. Closing her eyes she let her power roam threw the upper level, allowing them to heighten quite a bit since she wasn't scanning the entire building this time. "Looks . . ." she paused for a bit as she tried to make sure she was right. Opening her eyes she looked around the room toward the left door. "Looks like there on the left side of this building. There creating to much of a disturbance for me to actually graph a physical description of them," she said as she stood up. Taking her weapons in hand she followed him over to the door. "Maybe it's a new species," she said lightly. Though that would also mean that they didn't know anything about them either.

"Maybe..." Marv muttered. He couldnt get it out of his head than an NMC couldnt have done this, but standing around and debating about it wasnt getting the job done. He figured that once they cleared the immediate area, which was the large main hall area that these next set of doors led to, he would call it in to MIST HQ.
"Ready?" He asked her, taking a position in front of the door. Again, kneeling on one knee, he aimed his shotgun and eyes the handicapped auto button for the door. Giving it a quick press, he let the doors swing open of their own accord and looked on the inside. Only then did the grisly site appear.
"Jeez..us..." He muttered, rising to his feet and walking inside slowly. The site was grizzly indeed. The remenants of the SWAT team layed here. And there. And over there. And up there. Body parts and organs littered the floor, soaked in blood while some painted the cealing and walls from arterial sprays. Shell casings were all over, in an eratic patter on the ground, and lines of bullet holes were seen along the walls, leading all the way from there to the floor to not a foot from where a body laid. Or at least, most of it.
He trusted Elijha's reading when she said they were all on the left side of the building, but nevertheless, he entered still crouched, still aiming his shotgun. There was always a chance that something new came along that wasnt detectable on her radar. "Ok...we need to identify them. Call HQ, have them get in touch with the SWAT office and get us a list of names of the men who came up here. Then, report the thing with the elevator." He said as he got to work finding how many torsos, with name plates on their vests, he could find.

Elijha nodded as she stepped off to the other side of the room. She kept her weapon in hand as she knelt down over what seemed to be the lower part of a former Officer. She flipped it over digging threw the pants pocket to pull out a wallet. She grateful at the time that she wore gloves when it come to her job, and this was mainly the reason why. She never knew what her hands would be touching. Though this meant that she would have to put them threw a good washing or two. Not to mention washing off the handle bars on her bike when she got back. Pulling out an ID she read over the name. "Have a John Jamison here, Sergeant," she called over to him.
She stood up stretching her back slightly as she moved to another par of legs. "I'm grabbing their ID's. That way we have something to turn in when we get down there," she pointed out as she pulled out another ID. "Phillip Miller, Deputy," she spoke to herself as she looked up toward the window. She tilted her head slightly as she stopped her search for a moment. She walked over to the window and ran her hand along the glass. It almost seemed smooth. "I know this isn't the place to ask, but what do you think of my parents?" she asked . . . though it was more blurted out.
She sighed a bit as she ran her hand over the glass. She wanted to know how he stood with her parents, but at the same time she wished that she didn't even ask the question. "The glass doesn't have stress fractures. Actually the edges seem to be perfectly smooth," she said as she turned back to him. She waived a piece of the glass in the air. "What the heck are we dealing with here," she asked though it was more of a statement than anything else.

"Your parents?" Marv asked, slightly confused. Grabbing another ID card, something he hadntl thought of doing, from the pants pocket of a man who had been ripped in half, he sighed and wiped his hand on the man's vest. The CSI team was going to be ****ed, in more ways than the two of them moving around the bodies. The MIST CSI guys were going to be around as soon as it was cleared, making sure that the secret of NMC's could be kept from any media rats who happened to see anything unusual.
"Well, their like the other suits, I guess. Dont much care for them, but I got no problem with them if they leave me alone." He said, grabbing the last of the ID cards and handing them to Elijha. He looked at the glass that she was holding and raised his eyebrows. At first, he didnt see what the big deal was. It was broken glass, sure, fine. When she said something about stress fractures, he tried to remember what that term meant when it popped into his mind.
"Smooth edges, no cracks. Sounds like heat to me..." He said, reinforcing what they had seen earlier with the elevator doors. "That is a very good question...NMC's couldnt have done this, I dont care how far up on the evolutionary chain they are." He said. "Call all that in, I'm going to go check the immediate area for anything else noteworthy." He said, raising his shotgun to a firing position and moving further into the room.

Elijha nodded slightly as she walked back over to the window. She knew how cell phones went in buildings like this. To much electricity running threw the walls would make it hard for the signal to get out. That was unless you had one of these well paid companies that had like fifty towers in one area. She sighed a bit as she looked down over the street. Several search lights shining up at the window, though dissipating before it even really reached it. She pulled out her phone and hit the speed dial. Though she was grateful the window's were busted out, at least it let air into the room, and the smell wasn't as bad.
"This is Perry reporting," she spoke into the phone. She waited a bit so the call could be transfered to the right area. "Sir . . . yes sir. This place is a disaster doesn't even look like a sing part of the body was left in tact . . . No . . . we have them accounted for," she said as she pulled out the ID's. She went threw naming off their names, rank and position. "Alright. There is something else you need to know. The whole top floor window's have been blown out, but the thing is they have no stress fractures indicating that they were hit. It's almost like they were melted. Also, we ran into a problem using the elevator. Someone or something had cut the cable. Cut it clean threw almost like they had a laser with them." She paused for a moment before nodding. "Yes, he does have his on him . . . alright I'll let him know. Perry out," she said and with that she hung up the phone.
She looked up at Marvin as he moved into the back of the room. "Boss said he's going to look into the SWAT names to make sure we have everyone. Also he said he's going to check over what we found. He doesn't know if it's a new NMC or someone trying to get rid of us. He's going to call you back when he gets the information," she explained. Loud enough so he could hear her. She wasn't quite ready to moved from the window. The smell in the room was quite sickening, and she was enjoying the bit of air the broken windows were allowing in.

A quick sweep of the rest of the large area had revealed, first and foremost, that it was empty as Elijha said. So her power's wernt being thrown off, just couldnt get a read on what these things were. Secondly, he had found that the large fountain in the center had two stairways next to it. They went to a sitting area with a few benches and down further to a set of doors on each side. One was locked, with an employees only sign on it. The other side had a glass door leading to what looked like a garden hallway of some sort.
Marv listened to what Elijha said, and nodded. Let Baldwin take care of dealing with the other agency's around town. They had bigger fish to fry. "All right, looks like we have two doors. One is locked, the other is open. Locked one leads to en employee only area, other leads to another part of the building. And what do you know, it goes left..." He muttered into his cell phone, set to the walkie talkie type setting. MIST had installed that because it was too unruley to have to pull out a phone and make a call to another agent in the same building.
"I highly discourage spilitting up, but if we do we can cover a lot more ground. One of two evils, whats it gonna be?" He asked her. He often left things like this up to her. He was reasonably sure she could take care of herself, and most of the time they split up to wipe out whatever was around the place they were clearing out. However, with the new threat around, he didnt think it a good idea. Tradition or caution, in a way.

Elijha nodded as she caught back up to Marvin. She looked at both doors for a moment, before sighing. Splitting up was a bad idea, but sticking together would take longer. "To be honest, and I hate to suggest it since were up against a new threat," she spoke lightly as she looked at both the doors. "We should split up. The 'Employee's Only' area shouldn't be that bit, or take to long to search. So once one of us finished that area we could catch up to the other. Not to mention remain in constant contact with the other," she said as she looked up at him.
She walked up and twisted the handle finding it locked, herself. She looked back at Marvin and smiled. "I'll take this area. If it takes more than thirty minutes to search it I'll meet back with you, and we can finish it together once we finish the other side," she said as she turned to look a the door knob. She kept her hand on the knob as she worked her powers. Manipulating the metal within the locks, unlocking the door. Turning the knob she pushed the door open, and stepped inside with her weapon held at the ready. Looking down the hall she nodded slightly. "Shouldn't take to long. I'll give a shout every five, and if it takes longer than thirty I'll catch up with you, and well finish later," she stated, recapping what she had said earlier.

Marv nodded to Elijha and turned away as she went down the hallway. He had a slightly bad feeling about this, but she wasnt a child. She was a better long range shot than he was. Heck, there were a few things she was better at him then. They usually complimented each other in their abilities when they worked as a team, but every time they split up he couldnt help but worry about her. She was about the only person in the world he could call a friend anymore.
He walked to the unlocked glass doors and pushed one of them open with his left hand, sweeping the immediate inside with his shotgun before preceading. Empty, as he had seen earlier. He walked down the long stone walkway, flanked by vast gardens with small trees and flowers of all sorts, before coming to a turn. If Elijha was right, he was going to be running into those things soon. But, the area was empty.
Save for a large pool of blood. As he got nearer, he saw that the fluid wasnt actually blood. It was the reddish orange slime that you got when you killed an NMC. Their unstable DNA makeup broke down at an alarming pace when their mitochondria refused to hold them together any longer. From the ammount, he estimated that it had to have been at least three changelings worth.
He took out his phone and sent a short wave call to Elijha. "Got what I think to be three dead changelings. You?" He asked.
From the start of her journey, Elijha had gone through a winding hallway that was devoid of any signs of life or death. No blood or body parts, no NMC slime. Near the end of her trail, she did find something curious. A small drop or two of blue liquid, thick and sticky on the ground.

Elijha sighed as she poked at a small cloth flower on the end table. She looked up the hall from where she had come from. All the rooms where clear, and there wasn't any sign of human activity or NMC for that fact. When she heard Marvin's voice come over her cell she sighed a bit. At least it meant that he was in one piece, though it also meant that there was someone or something else killing the NMC's. She picked up her cell as she knelt next to the drop of blue liquid on the floor. "I haven't gotten anything. No NMC activity nothing. Though there are like three or four drops of blue liquid on the floor," she explained.
She reached down with her gloved hand and touched it. Brining her hand up level with her face as she rubbed her fingers together. "It's rather stick, almost like one of those liquid candy. There doesn't seem to be enough to indicate anything sever." She looked up at the ceiling for any kind of ventilation unite, but it was all in the walls. "Keep an eye out. I'm heading back to you. I'm going to check the rooms once more on my way out," she said as she put her cell phone back in it's pouch. She stood back up and looked around as she took her weapon back out and started making her way back down the hall. Searching the rooms once more.
