"Dont forget to get a sample of the liquid." Marv reminded. "See you in a few minutes." He said, putting the phone back on his belt. He sighed and continued walking. His journey was turning out to be like hers. No activity of any kind. Not even any signs of a struggle. No shell casings, no bullet holes, not a droplet of blood. If he didnt know any better, he'd have thought the SWAT guys had come up and killed each other.
Rounding a corner in the atrium type section, he stopped in his tracks as he saw a man. In a manner of speaking. The guy was massive, at least eight feet tall. And clad in what looked like a green BDU with black combat gear over. His left arm was missing, replaced by some kind of silver cylinder. He must have heard Marv coming, and whipped around. He was crouched down very low, coming about eye to eye with Marv. Something about him unsettled Marv, especially now that he saw the mask that reminded him of that movie with the hokey mask killer. What was it called? Thursday the 15th?
"Stop where you are!" Marv yelled out in an authoritive voice, aiming his shotgun. The man turned his head to the side as if confused, and let out a cackle. He reared back and started running at Marv.
"I said stop!" He yelled, the last warning he was going to give. When the man ceased to follow the order, Marv fired his shotgun. The buckshot peppered it's chest, going through a vest that clearly wasnt bullet proof, and blood spilled everywhere. Blood that wasnt red, but blue. The monster faltered a bit, but kept coming. Marv shucked out the empty shell and fired another, again seeming to slow the thing down but not stop it.
The cylinder on its right arm started to glow, and what looked like a blade made of blue light appered. It raised it's arm when it got in swinging distance, and Marv ducked under the swing. Dropping the shotgun, he landed several sharp jabs at where the man's kidney should have been before ripping a knife from a holster on his side and jamming it in the man's spine. The former hand to hand specialist reared his arm back and twisted while pushed down. The blade spun, and the blunt end was sent down. the creature fell to the ground with a thud and Marv let out a breath. He collected his knife in time to see Elijha round the corner.

"It's a good think I never go hand to hand with you," Elijha spoke with a slightly laugh. She walked up to Marvin, and knelt down beside the creature. "He's bleeding the same blue liquid I seen on the floor," she said lightly as she reached into her pouch and pulled out a small vial. She dipped it into the so called blood, filled it up before sealing it shut, and put it in a small plastic bag. "The liquid back there really wasn't enough to do anything with, but this will be good enough," she said as she held the bag up before putting it back into her pouch. She looked the creature over, and studied it a bit before she took out a small camera and stated taking pictures.
She removed the mask revealing a grossly disoriented face that had no features left to it. She snapped a picture, before putting the camera back into the pouch. She sighed a bit as she looked back down to the arm. She reached out and touched the cylinder portion finding it to be rather warm still though the alloy content was unfamiliar to her. "I don't know what kind of metal this is," she said as she looked up at Marvin. "It looks aluminum, but feels like magnesium and iron combined. Those are impossible to combine and get the aluminum look. It would be to thick," she explained as she stood up.
She looked around the hall and then back down he hall from where she had come. "We know what killed the SWAT teams, and what possibly busted out the window and tried to kill us," she said as she looked back at Marvin. "Alright, I'm guessing there is more than one of them looking from the SWAT Teams." It was if it was on cue when the wall behind Marvin busted down filling the room with smoke. Looking up she noticed a faint blue light coming from the smoke. Grimacing slightly she hit her knees as her hands hit the floor. As the blue light came down Marvin was both pushed out of the way from forming wall.
But that didn't seem to put a stop to the creature. The blade cut threw the metal wall like a hot knife on butter. Elijha bit her lip as she looked at the creature as he cut the newly formed wall into shreds. She stood up as the creature charged toward them, and she put her hand up against the wall as a spikes started forming from the wall, but the creature kept cutting them down like it was nothing. "I- I can't stop him," she chocked as she was panting heavily. She pulled out both of her smith and wessons as she heard Marvin open fire with his shotgun.
She stepped behind him so she wasn't in the line of his scatter from the pellets. As she brought her weapons up she felt something weaken under her feet. She looked down as she could even feel a burning sensation growing beneath her feet. She went to speak, but her words were cut short when the floor seemingly disappeared beneath her feet. She screamed out as her body jerked from the sudden drop. Her hands hitting the edge of the whole causing her to not only cut them, but lose both of her weapons. She didn't fall one floor nor two, but four complete floors. She landed on a hard marble counter on the fifth floor. Her head hitting the desk hard enough that it rendered her unconscious.

Marv struggled to see in the blue fog, letting loose buckshot in the hopes that he would hit something in his blind fireing. From the impact sounds he heard over the blast of gunpowder, he knew that the pellets hit something soft. The light grew more intense, and Marv knew it could only be coming from one thing. The energy blade on the creature.
The cracking of the ground and Elijha's yelp of surprise prompted him to look back, only to find that she had dissapered into the hole. He looked back in time to be face to face with the ugly mask covering an even uglier face. In a controlled panic, Marv acted on impulse, his mitochondria responding in turn by themselves. In a flash of a hit, he slammed his head foreward and met the face of the things mask. His skin was reinforced with the abnormal cells in his body. Bones broke and skull caved in on itself. Neither of these things happened to Marv.
The creature fell to the ground in convulsions, its arm blade cutting off as if the disability of the creature hit a kill switch. With his shotgun, he swept a full 360 degrees for more of the things, but saw none. Two down, and he had a feeling that there were more. But that didnt concern him nearly as much as Elijha.
He quickly slung the shotgun on his back and went to the hole. He saw her there, five floors down, lying unconcious on a counter top. Crossing his arms in front of himself and holding his legs together, he jumped into the hole without a second thought. When he reached the floor directly above Elijha, he opened his legs and landed with a sharp thud. Jumping in the air once more, he closed his legs, fell through the hole to his arms, and caught the edges of it. Hanging a mere matter of feet from Elijha, he swung to the side and landed less than a foot from the counter.
Spinning on one leg, he grabbed Elijha and tried to wake her up. Her mitochondria would heal her up eventually, and he hoped it would be sooner rather than later.

Elijha coughed a bit as it was soon followed by a deep wheezing sound that came from her. Her eyes slowly opened to the disoriented room. Her head was spinning and she wouldn't really see straight. She looked up at Marvin as he stood over her and stopped shaking her. She was tired and exhausted. All she wanted to do was sleep . . . all she wanted to do was close her eyes and never wake back up. Nothing was ever going right for her, and the one thing that did she had to fight to stay with. Her body was exhausted and her mind screaming for it to end. She couldn't remember the last time she had actually slept or had a good meal.
She looked around the room as she tried to sit up, but the feeling along was making it hard. She stifled a cry as she gripped the side of the counter, and pulled herself up into a sitting position. Her body was screaming out in pain from the fall. Maybe this mission would tire her out enough she would actually get some sleep when they got back to HQ. She would actually enjoy a good nights rest even if it was on a sofa. She looked up at Marvin with a tired smile before looking around the room. It looked like a reception area to a doctors office or something. Still she didn't give it to much thought.
Sliding her feet around she let them hang from the counter, before sliding off onto the floor. She quickly gripped the counter as she felt her knees give. Her body seeming to take longer to catch up to her than it usually did. "T- they cut right threw the iron like it was nothing," she spoke with a raspy voice. She looked up at Marvin with tired eyes and a weak smile. "Give me a second and I'll be ready to go," she said though it was more for herself. All she wanted to do at the moment was break down and cry, but she knew she couldn't. Not on a mission and not in front of Marvin. If anything she didn't want him thinking any less of her or that she was weak. Out of everyone she had met she looked up to him, and his respect was all she had left.

"I kinda doubt that..." Marv muttered, seeing the shape she was in. He'd never seen her this bad. Something was up that she wasnt telling him about. Probably something that had to do with her question about her parents. He made a mental note to get it sorted out as soon as they got out of here, but for now there was a job to do.
"Ok, heres what I need. We've killed two of these things. I need you to find out how many more there are and where they are. If you can do that, I can call HQ for backup. We are nowhere near prepared enough for this bullsh*t." He said. The call was for NMC's, not fu*king super soldiers that ate lead like candy and carried light sabers.

Elijha nodded slowly as she lowered herself down to the ground. She closed her eyes as she placed her hands on the floor. At first everything was fuzzy, and she had to shake her head to clear the cob webs. She sighed heavily as she tried her best to focus, but strangely enough she was finding it hard to do so. She opened her eyes as she sat back on her knees, and rubbed the side of her temples. She leaned forward again as she put her hands on the floor. Closing her eyes she tried her best to focus once more.
Yet still she was finding it hard to do so. Though it was a lot clearer than the first time. "Four . . . no six . . . I- I can't really tell," she said as she sat back and looked up at Marvin, before she quickly looked away. "At . . . at least a minimum of four. I'm sorry," she spoke low. She felt ashamed, and it felt like when she first learned her abilities. Though this time it was different. She couldn't focus on anything, and she felt ashamed as she sat there. She was letting Marvin down as well as Mist. What good was now to them? It was then that she felt them, however small, but they were till there. She whipped the tears from her face and tried to hid it as best as she could. If she lost her job with Mist she would have nothing left . . . no home and no friends even if it was just one. She was scared and that wasn't the worse of it. She wasn't feeling all to well anymore.

"At least four, good good. Better than that pr*ck Baldwin could give us." He said. It was no secret that Marv disliked Baldwin. He was a politician. He talked up and down about protocal and rules and all this other bullsh*t, and the truth was he had never even been in this position. He'd never fought an NMC, never even been in the field. He was born to a rich family, into the FBI by 18, put at a desk right out of Quantico, and slowly but surely rose through the ranks to his current position.
Marv took out his cell phone and pushed one of the buttons, the speed dial to HQ. It rung once and Baldwin answered. "Yes, Marv?" He answered simply.
"We need some backup Baldwin, we're dealing with some sh*t no ones ever seen before. I mean NO ONE!" Marv said, making his point very clear.
"Ok. Let me see who is near there...Lets see..." Baldwin said, keeping a courtious tone and taking his time.
"Today would be nice, godda*mit!" Marv snapped into the phone.
"Watch it, Callahan. Now, we have two hunters that can be there in a matter of minutes. Rupert and Tony." Baldwin said.
"They'll work. Get em here, ASAP." Marv said.
"Very well." Baldwin said, hanging up sharply. Rupert and Tony were a few of the higher reguarded hunters in the LA branch of MIST. Rupert was a gunslinger wannabe, complete with the spagetti western suit and the .45 Long Colt. Tony was an ex SWAT guy who prided himself on being the guy with the most experience of the branch. He didnt know how wrong he was.
Marv turned back to Elijha and supported her by grabbing her shoulder. She didnt look so good. "Backup's on the way. Rupert and Tony." He said. As an afterthought, he smirked and said "Could be worse. They coulda sent Peirce and Jodi."

Elijha laughed slightly as she reached up to the counter to help her climb to her feet. She sighed heavily as she leaned up against it. "Now what do we do," she said lightly as she refused to look at him. She was feeling ashamed with everything that was going on. An when it came to Marvin she looked up to him, but at the moment she felt like she was letting the most important person in her life down. She just stood there looking out at a wall trying her best to avoid looking at Marvin. She knew that she had a few tears left in her eyes, and she didn't want him to see her crying. She didn't want him to think that she was weak.
She looked around the room for the faint sizzling sound she was hearing. Her eyes falling upon a wall that was glowing a bright red. It wasn't just one spot, but three different areas. These creatures were coming into the room, and she knew that neither of them had the ability to take on three of them. She stumbled from the counter across the room. She knew that her abilities were failing, but the least she could do was try her best to buy some time. Buy enough time that way Marvin could get some useful help. Last time he iron was to weak, and the creature cut threw it like it was butter. She was going to do her best to make sure that it was harder.
Putting both her hands against the wall, she rested her forehead against it as well. Closing her eyes as she concentrated as hard as she could. The walls seemed to glow a silver color as what looked like thick bulk head door metal started covering the walls, floor and ceiling. The only thing that wasn't covered was the solid glass windows. As she finished the sizzling sound seemed to stop, before starting up again. Though this time it seemed that it was taking a lot more to get threw. Elijha never opened her eyes though, and for the longest time continued to stand against the wall. Then suddenly she collapsed to the floor as she had passed out once more.

"Your fu*king kidding me..." Marv muttered as he saw Elijha faint and fall to the ground. She was probably his only friend in the world and he loved her to death, but her fits like this were not only slightly annoying, they were very dangerouse. Especially now with all of this going on around them.
Marv desperately tried to think of a plan of action while he watched the things cutting down the wall slowly but surely. He wracked his brain to try and find the best course of action, and he finally decided on the most simple. Cracking his knucles and rubbing his hands together, he blew a breath through his teeth and reared his arms back. He slammed his hands together and then slammed them onto the ground. What looked like a huge snake tunnleing under the marble of the floor appeared and made its way to one of the walls. It connected with Elijha's metal wall, and the force of the blow impacted.
Metal dented and deformed with the force of a scale seven earthquake, the metal transfering the force to its other side and into the creatures. Bone and organ caved in on itself, flesh was seemingly ripped from the body, equipment was crunched into unrecognizable shapes. And Marv Callahan dropped to his knees, panting and wheezing and feeling his age for the first time in several years. He'd never actually done that.
Struggleing to stay alert, or even just stay awake, he looked over at the dented walls and then to Elijha. Crawling on his hands and knees, he started to try and bring her back to conciousness. She was the only one who could bring them down. He just hoped it was easier on her than putting them up.

Elijha shifted slightly when she felt Marvin shaking her. It took her a bit longer before she managed to open her eyes. The room around her seemed to be spinning and she quickly shut her eyes. Her body felt worn, almost as if it had been threw hundreds of fights without stopping. She felt sick and she felt tired, but she had to remember that she was on a mission. Her mind was never on the mission to begin with, and now it was because of her that it was a failure. At least that's what she believed. That it was because of her that they had to call in for back up. Any other time she would have been able to handle it, but this time it just seemed like her body wanted to give up on her.
She opened her eyes again as she pushed herself to sit up, but she found a problem. Her body felt like it was lead weight. Just moving her arm alone took about everything out of her. She was panting and wheezing heavily when she heard the pounding. At first fear struck her that the creatures were coming back, but when she heard the shouting she recognized the voices. She needed to get the wall down, and that wasn't the problem. Taking things apart with her abilities took little to no effort since it was always easer to tear things up then to build them. Her problem was moving enough to be able to touch the wall. With a lot off effort, and very little movement her fingers touched the wall. An it was like sand in an hour glass as the metal around the wall completely deteriorated.
The door to the main room swung open as the two gun wilding members of another unite walked into the room. "Geez, you two look like hell," Rupert stated as he moved over to them. "What's the situation, and the full extent including the two of you."

"Situation..." Marv panted, slowly starting to feel strength come back to his body. He stood with some help from a nearby wall and turned his neck until a loud pop occured. He took a deep breath and coughed before reaching into a pocket.
"Is fu*ked. We got our a*ses handed to us by whatever the hell those things are. According to her reading of the building, there is at least one more of them around here. And when I get ahold of him, MIST isnt going to need to cut it open to see what it's insides look like..." Marv muttered with a sense of bitterness in his voice. "As for us..." He said, pulling free a crumpled pack of cigarettes. He walked to the other end of the room and lit one quickly.
"She's pretty fu*ked up. She'd going to need to see the doc when we get back to HQ. I'm fine, for the most part. Nothing a bottle of Jack wont fix." He said.
"All right, so lets go get the bas*ards." Rupert said, raising his Colt for exclamation.
"Just wait a few minutes. You have no idea what those things are, what their capable of." Marv said.
"Bullsh*t. You killed one monster, youve killed em all. I'll get it myself and get the glory for saving all your a*ses." Rupert retorted.
"Hell ya!" Tony spoke up, adding his only input to the conversation.
"Fine, you think your such hot sh*t? Go for it. What do you want on your tombstone you stupid fu*k?" Marv said, raising his voice to the backs of the already departing men.
"Son of a bi*ch..." Marv muttered, throwing the already smoked cigarette butt to the ground and stubbing it out. He walked over to Elijha and knelt down. "Hey, we need to get out of here, get you to a doctor. Let Cowboy Curtis and the fly SWATer deal with the last one." He said.

Elijha nodded slightly as she looked up at Marvin. She watched as Marvin knelt down and helped her to her feet. With her arm draped over his neck the balance was a bit off, but still with his help she was able to move. She sighed heavily and never once looked at him. She felt to ashamed to look at him. They had never called a mission early, and were one of the few teams that had to call in back up. This was all happening because of her. She watched as Marvin headed for an elevator and pushed the button. They stood there in silence, not speaking a word. The only sound coming from the ding as the doors opened.
Moving down the building still silence filled the air. Marvin helped her out of the building as her own feet dragged a bit. She could feel everything starting to weigh down on her. Everything that had been happening since she was kicked out of her home was coming back to haunt her. Marvin opened the passenger side of his car door, and helped her in. She just sat there, and as he shut the car door she leaned up against it and closed her eyes. She could hear his door opening and shutting, and the engine starting.
The next thing she remembered was Marvin shaking her. She opened her eyes weakly as she looked up at him, and behind him she could see a sign that read 'ER.' "W- why did you bring me here?" she asked lightly as she continued to stare at the door as Marvin pulled her out of the car. She didn't want to go to the hospital. It was just something else she had to deal with. She hated hospitals, and she hated being around people that didn't understand them. It was just going to make things worse, she was sure about that.

"I brought you here because what happened back at the tower wasnt normal. Not the fu*king freaks of nature that we wernt used to dealing with, but what happened to you. For one, you took a bad fall and cracked your head. For two, you passed out at least twice from overexursion. For three, I aint letting you go back home." He said, his voice softening slightly at the last sentance. "Something's wrong with you, and I'm thinking it isnt physical."
As he ended the last word, he got out and waved down a passing orderly. The man brought out a wheelchair and Marv helped Elijha into it. From there, he followed as she was brought into the ER, her vital signs were checked, she was looked over by a doctor for a few moments, and finally put into a private exam room with Marv in tow the whole way.
When they were finally alone and her hooked to monitors of this sort or that, he took a seat in a chair next to her bed as they waited for the MIST doctor to get there. He figured this was as good a chance as he'd get.
"Elijha. You have to tell me whats going on. You've been acting weird all night. Whats bugging you?" He asked.

Elijha looked up at Marvin with wide eyes before she looked away. She didn't want to tell him. She knew what he had said back at the tower, but still it could cost a lot if she had told him. Still she could feel his prying eyes, and she knew better than that. He wouldn't leave it be. Once he had his mind set on something he never let it go. She sighed a bit as she looked at the wall. "Three months ago, my parents kicked me out of the house. Told me I was old enough to live by myself, and that I didn't need to be dragging them down anymore. At first everything seemed fine, but then I started having problems sleeping. Then soon I couldn't sleep at all," she said lightly as she looked at the wall.
She didn't look at Marvin mostly for the fact she was worried that she would break down when she did. "I tried calling my parents and telling them what was happening. They told me that they didn't care and that I wasn't their responsibility, and that I would have to deal with it on my own." She sighed heavily as she felt tears streaming down her cheeks, but still she refused to look at him. "Soon my rent went up, and I tried to find another place but they wouldn't take me. It was like everything was put to a stop, and I couldn't do anything."
Elijha looked up at the monitor as her vitals fluctuated greatly. Jumping from high to low within seconds. She sighed a bit as she closed her eyes. "It got to the point I couldn't really afford anything. The money I got when to my inhalers, my rent and all that. There have been days I skipped meals because I couldn't afford to eat anything. An then the meals I did have really wasn't anything. I tried calling my parents again. Telling them I couldn't do this. That there was to much for me, but they wouldn't hear me out. Even got a restraining order put on me. Said I was harassing them." She chocked on her tears as she rolled slightly to her left.
"There my parents, even if there my adopted parents. Aren't they suppose . . . aren't they suppose to be everything?" she asked as she just laid there staring at the wall. "I'm tired, and all I want to do is sleep, but I can't. Every time I try I can't sleep anymore." She looked at the monitor as her vitals stopped fluctuating and just started dropping, before they started to settle as low as it possibly could.

Marv looked at the medical monitor, almost in panic for a moment. He saw Elijha was fine, and figured it must have been her unique mitocondria giving the monitor false readings. When it started to beep, registering a dangerously low heart rate, he reached over and pushed a button to turn it off. He looked over at her and couldnt help but feel sorry for her. He'd been in a similer situation when he was about her age. But, his adoptive father had died when he was off at boot camp. He hadnt booted Marv out the door and totally abandoned him as her parants had her.
"Why dont you find someone to live with? A roomate or someone to share the bills?" He asked. He wasnt sure why she was having problems. The pay was quite good for doing their job. He knew he always had plenty of money because he lived in a crappy apartment in a crappy part of town, where any normal person would have good merit to be afraid of being stabbed when they went to check the mail. She probably lived in a decent place, and he heard those were quite expensive nowadays.
