Elijha smiled as she closed her eyes. Her life wasn't as easy as she had always made it out to be. She never wanted people to know what her life was really like, because in a way she didn't want to believe it was her life either. She sighed a bit as she shook her head. "I don't know anyone," she spoke lightly as she just laid there. She whipped the tears from her face as she rolled on her side. She didn't want Marvin to see her cry, she didn't want him to realize how weak she was. She had to be strong, but the thing was she was tired of being strong. She was tired of fighting a battle that she could never win.
"I live in a studio, half furnished because I can't afford anything. I know people always brag about their pay and saying how good it is," she laughed slightly as she just laid there. Her hands gripping the pillow tightly. "It's not like that with me. I guess with parents within the FBI can do anything they please. My paycheck has extra things being taken out. Apparently my parents have been taking money out of my account to pay for foster care, and other things. I didn't know they could do that. I'm only brining in thirteen hundred a month. An my rent alone is almost six hundred. Not to mention I have several bills to pay for because I have cards I got so I could afford things." She sighed heavily as she stopped talking. She just wanted it to end she didn't want to have to do things anymore. She just wanted to go hid and never wanted to be seen anymore.

Marv was almost releived when the door opened and the doctor arrived. What could he say? It wasnt his area of expertise, trying to make people feel good. He couldnt even make himself feel good half the time. It was always back to the bottle, back to the bottle and never deal with anything.
"Marv, Elijha." Leo said, a smile on his face like usual. He wasted no time in walking in, locking the door, and walking over to Elijha. "Well, lets see what mess your in today." He said, blissfully unaware of the current situation. He proceded to take her vitals by hand, knowing a machine wouldnt work, as well as asses her with his mitochondria. His "element" was water, and he specialized in healing and cureing.
"Your in pretty rough shape. Take it easy for a few days, get some rest..." He leaned in close to her and wispered "...and get something good to eat, and you'll be good to go." He smiled at her again, stood up, and waved goodbye to them as he walked out of the room.
Marv looked at her and sighed. "How about this. You'll be able to stay here in the hospital for a few days at least. When they get a look at how bad you are, they should admit you. Insurence will pay for it all, your parents cant mess with that. Stay here, do what the doc ordered, and we'll find a way to sort this out when you leave." He said, not sure if 'we'll' was the best word to use. He didnt like getting mixed up in other's personal lives, but she was his friend. He felt like he had to do something.
He stood up and looked down at her, asking "Do you want me to stay for a while?"

Elijha looked up at Marvin and smiled tiredly. She shook her head as she closed her eyes. "You don't have to stay," she spoke lightly as she hugged the pillow close to her, and rested her head on the bed. She watched as Marvin nodded and headed for the door. "Thank you for everything," she said as he disappeared threw the door. Once she heard the latch on the door click she buried her face into her pillow as she started crying. She couldn't believe that she had told Marvin what she had. At least when she kept her mouth shut her parents couldn't do anything else.
She was scared that with him knowing that hey could do something to affect him, and she didn't want to do that. She tried to sit up only to cry out when she realized that she could barley move still. At that moment she wanted to run away, to hid away from everyone. She had let so many people down, and she couldn't understand what she was doing wrong. She just buried her face into the pillow as she cried herself to sleep. Though the sleep was unwanted, but well needed.

Marv felt slightly bad for leaving Elijha, leaving her like that. But, she needed some time alone. Especially time to sleep. He'd seen her trying to catch cat naps in the lounge at work, instantly putting it off as just lying down to relax or something similar. Her lack of rest or being healthy was very bad on her.
He did his best to put her out of his mind as he walked down to his car and drove to his bar, walking in and taking a seat at his usual spot. It wasnt actually his bar, but all of the money he sort of spent there could have bought it by now. The bartender, as well as owner, Minnie walked over with a bottle of Jack Daniel's and a triple glass. His semi usual.
"Bad day, Marv?" She asked, seeing the look on his face.
"Yup." He said simply, uncorking the bottle. She silently reached under the bar and grabbed another bottle, setting it in front of him and walking away. He'd been coming here for years, and Minnie was soft on him after the time some frat boys at her school roughed her up and he straightened them out the hard way. She'd let him drink there for free since, and usually drove him home. And she also knew, that on a bad day, the best thing to do was serve him up and let him be.
Halfway through his rounds, one bottles worth, he was feeling the warm feeling and finding it hard to trace the letters on the bottle of liquor, and he knew he was about halfway to where he wanted to be. About that time, the door opened and someone no one knew walked in. It was strange, because only regulars ever came in here. He wore a long black coat, leather gloves, sunglasses, and a black fedora.
"Did you call a friend?" Minnie asked, assuming the man was in the FBI from the way he was dressed.
"No friend of mine..." Marv muttered, looking at the man in the mirror hung over the bar. The man pulled a peice of paper out of his pocket, looked at it for a few moments, and put it away before pulling a compact machine pistol from under his coat. As soon as he saw it, Marv shoved Minnie to the ground and fell from the stool while the man opened fire. He seemed to have no skill whatsoever with the weapon, and fired wildly at Marv. Amazingly, he hit nothing but air and wood. Marv quickly ripped his own weapon and fired twice.
The .50 caliber rounds echoed through the bar and tore through the man's chest like nothing. He screamed in pain before doubleing over and finally falling to the ground. Marv got up, walked to him, kicked the gun away, and rolled him over. The man was dead.
"Damn..." He muttered, the hopes of trying to get some info out of him gone.
-------------------------
Back at the hospital, an unknown man dressed in scrubs walked through the hospital, stopping at a door to a private room. He opened it to reveal a sleeping Elijha, the door creaking loudly and him slilently cursing as he walked in and shut it. He took from his pocket a small pistol with a surpressor on the end, and took aim.

Elijha didn't open her eyes when she heard the door open. She was in a way hoping that it was Marvin coming back to stay with her, but when she hard quite footsteps she opened her eyes. She looked up at a gun pointed right at her. She didn't say anything, but rather stared at the man as she watched his finger pull the trigger. As he did she pulled her hand from the metal railing of he bed, and in turn brining up a small shield to bounce the round into the wall. She ripped the IV's from her arm, and fell off the other side of the bed as the man fired off another round.
Hitting the ground hard she stifled a scream. She kicked the bed over as he fired another round. Elijha knew she had to find a way to stop him, but even now she knew there wasn't much she could do. Small burst of her ability was all that seemed she could do, but she ran into the problem that this guy was on the other side of the room. She reached up to look for something she could use, but found that most of the room was made of plastic grade material or fiberglass. Then she spotted the metal pole that held the monitor together. When she reached out she quickly jerked her hand back as he fired another round.
She was counting the rounds, but it was hard to there were two different sounds echoing threw the room. Still she hoped she was right, but as she heard the clip hit the ground she moved. She pushed herself to her feet, and reached out grabbing the pole. It dematerialized causing the monitor to fall to the ground, and as she pivoted on her foot it formed into a spear. Just as she threw it another shot ran out threw the room causing her to him the cabinets. She watched as her spear struck the man in the chest dropping him instantly.
Elijha gripped her shoulder tightly as she collapsed to the ground. She could fell the blood trickling down her hand, but not as bad as it would have been if she didn't act. Struggling a bit she reached out to her phone where it laid on the floor. She picked it up to dial Marvin's number, and just as she hit send she had passed out on the floor.

Marv, with a bit of trouble and lack of coordination, reached for his cell phone when he determined it was actually ringing and not a figment of his imagination. He looked at the caller ID screen on the front and saw Elijha's name. Answering it, he heard silence. "Hello?" He said into the phone. "Hello?! Elijha!" He said, almost screaming.
He pushed End and dialed another number, the one for the hospital. When he got an answer, he told them they needed to check on a patient, Elijha Perry. When asked why, he simply yelled out a quick and angry "NOW" and hung up the phone. He then looked back into the bar and at the patrons. "Who here is sober enough to drive?" He asked, knowing he was over the legal limit but not his own.
Three hands shot in the air, and he picked the one he knew the best, which was by name and occupation. Lewis the garbage truck driver. "Come on! We're going to the hospital." He said, jogging to the door before stopping. He looked over at Minnie and motioned her over. She was on hold with the police now, and he knew he couldnt leave it at this. "Give them this, they'll know who to contact." He said, handing her a MIST business card with a toll free number on it.
He ran outside, jumped in the truck Lewis was driving, and they both gunned it to the hospital.

The door to the room swung open as a nurse walked casually into the room. The thought of it being another panicky friend or father on the phone. Except when the door hit the head of a guy that was laying on the floor her eyes moved to the metal rod . . . no metal spear that stuck out of his chest, and a handgun gripped tightly in his right hand. Then laying unconscious against the cabinets was the patient of the room. Blood seeming to pool on the ground from where she laid. "I need medical staff in here now!" she hollerd as she flipped on the light and moved quickly across the room. "Check him," she said as she pointed to the guy.
Though it was obvious he was dead. The spear sticking out of his chest was a sign of that. "A spear . . . how is that possible? Where did it come from?" one of the medical inturnes asked as he looked around the room. "He's dead," he said as he looked back to the head nurse.
"She's alive, her breathing is rather thready and her pulse rapid. She's in shock," she called out as several of the medical staff started moving things around the room. Two left and came back with a stretcher as they moved to Elijha. With assistance they lifted her onto the stretcher as the prepared an IV along with various items. "Call the police, and inform them on what's happening," she ordered as another rn quickly left the room.
They moved Elijha to another room, and set her up to be monitored. When everything was settled an on call doctor came into the room and tended to her shoulder. The bullet went completely threw which made it easer to tend to. Though what worried them the most was when they hooked her up to the monitor her vitals were jumping all over the place. An then when they checked them by hand to associate it with the monitor they read completely different. "I want her vitals checked by hand every thirty minutes. Keep records and get that monitor checked out," the doctor ordered as he looked up when two officers stepped into the room.

As soon as Lewis' truck pulled into the parking lot of the hospital, Marv hopped out and caught himself before he fell flat on the ground. He regained balance by moving quicker and trying to keep his feet underneath himself, finally getting his balance down when he got to the automatic doors.
He traversed the halls, somehow remembering exactly what room was Elijha's and exactly where it was. When he got there, he instantly took the officer standing outside as bad news. With a quick flash of his MIST badge, identical to an FBI badge in every way except for the small MIST emblem in the corner, easily missed by a casual looker. The uniformed officer instantly stepped to the side and let Marv through.
When he looked in, he saw the team of doctors and nurses standing around doing this or that, and what he assumed to be another assassin lying dead on the ground. From the monitor lying on the ground, he couldnt help but smirk at what he knew happened, how ingenious she could be when she needed to be.
"How is she?" He asked the first doctor who looked over at him.

The doctor looked up at Marvin entered the room. For a moment he didn't say anything and continued about his business before proceeding. "We moved her to the side room," he said as he motioned Marvin to follow. He lead him out the door and around the corner to another room where two more officers stood. He opened the door to let Marvin in before he followed. Shutting the door behind them he walked over to the nurse who handed him the chart. Looking it over for a second he looked up at Marvin. "She was shot in the shoulder. It was a complete threw and threw so tending to that was rather easy. She was already in the second level of shock when we had gotten to her, and it will probably take some time for her to come out of that one," he explained as he handed the chart back to the nurse.
He pulled out a small pen light. Stepping up he opened her eye lids and waved the light over her eyes to check her dilation. "She is also rather dehydrated and male nourished, for what ever reason that maybe. Her body is showing rather strange signs of shutting down, but now that she's resting she should be fine in no time. Your primary doctor has been called back in. Mostly for the fact that her main file is marked classified so I can't go into any further into her medical history. Though he said it would be a bit before he could get back in," he explained as he looked at Marvin. "Feel free to stay. Call us if you need anything, and the officers said they were going to remain outside the door for a bit," he said as he walked out of the room followed by the nurse.

Marv nodded to the doctor, thanked him for all he had done, and told him he was going to be staying here for a while. When the doctor asked him how long, he replied with a simple "However long it takes."
He pulled up the chair next to the bed and took a seat, sliding his desert eagle from it's holster and placing it on his lap, and then he covered it with his coat. He dared another wannabe assassin to come on in and go shot for shot with him right now. He figured all he could do now was wait.
He felt himself becoming drowsy, and fought the urge to fall asleep. He knew the uniforms would either scare away anyone trying to come back and finishe the job or alert Marv to anyone coming back for that purpose, but he still tried to stay awake.
In the end, he lost, and slowly drifted off to sleep in the chair by Elijha's bedside.

Elijha shifted in the bed as she let out a slight moan. She opened her eyes to the dimly lit room. Her eyes caught something that caused her to jump, and nearly fall off the edge of the bed. When she realized that Marvin was sitting beside her she sighed with relief and laid back down. Closing her eyes she just relaxed a bit before she drifted back to sleep. It didn't didn't seem long before the light of the room was waking her up. She looked around to see a doctor sitting at the foot of her bed. She smiled lightly as he helped her sit up.
"It's good to see you up," he said as he checked over her wound, and took another set of vitals. "Your looking much better, and so does your vitals." He checked her eyes once more before nodding in satisfaction. Picking up her clip board he flipped threw it before setting in on the counter. "Well as long as you keep getting some decent sleep and eating well you should be one hundred percent in just a day or so," he said as picked up the clip board. "Let me get your paper work ready and then your good to go," he said as he stepped out of the room.
Elijha sighed heavily as her hand drifted up to her shoulder before looking at Marvin sleeping in the chair. She smiled lightly as she reached over and shook his leg. "Marvin," she spoke lightly knowing well enough that she would have to be careful. Waking him up to quickly would probably mean a gun pointed right at her, and the way he was sitting was proof of that. "Marvin time to get up. We can leave soon," she said as she continued to shake his leg. Flinching slightly as she had to strain her hurt arm. It wasn't healing as quickly as it should, but she figured that her health problem of lately was the reason why her abilities were all messed up to begin with.

Marv was in a fairly deep sleep when Elijha started to wake him up. A deep sleep that was plauged with nightmares. He didnt toss and turn in his sleep or mumble to himself, thanks to the bottle of whiskey he had imbibed the previous night, but they were still there. As Elijha shook him, he saw the faces of the dead fade away, being replaced by a smileing and reassuring face. Her face.
He took a deep breath in and looked over at her. "Your looking better." He said, not lying to her. She did look scores better than she had last night at the tower. Looking around to see if anyone was around for two reasons, he saw it was empty and took care of the first reason. He stood up and holstered his desert eagle, a handgun so large it would have raised a red flag or two for anyone who saw him with it. He put his coat back on, seemingly unaware of the warmth of the room, and looked at her for the second reason. They needed a chat.
"Elijha, I'm worried about you. Last night, you almost died. Granted, you did some things your probably never done before and you took a good knock on the head, but you damn near went comatose. That isnt supposed to happen. We need to find a solution for you, because when sh*t like that happens, it effects us both." He said. He was slightly regretting using the word 'we' instead of 'you', and he disguised the fact that he was genuinly worried about her by bringing in that it effected him, how she took care of herself. But he was pretty sure she got the gist of it. He was worried about her deeply and he didnt want her to know about it.

Elijha looked up at Marvin before looking away. She sighed a bit as she just sat there staring at her feet. She didn't realize how much problems she was causing him in the long run. She closed her eyes and sighed again before looking up at the door as it opened. The doctor walked in and handed her a clip board and a pin. "Need to sign your release," he said as he looked over to Marvin. "Make sure she eats at least two or three decent meals, and gets at least a minimum of 6 hours of sleep. I would prefer 8 hours, but with your professions I find that a bit difficult," he explained as he took the clip board back from Elijha. He pulled off a few sheets of paper and handed them to her. "Alright your free to go," he said as he walked out of the room
Elijha sighed again as she slipped off the bed flinching slightly from using her arm in the process, but even know she would already feel it getting better. "I'm sorry," she spoke lightly as she slipped on her shoes, and picked up the rest of her belongings. "I never meant to cause you or anyone else any problems. Thats why I never told anyone. I figured if I dealt with it myself that everything would go away. You don't have to worry. I'll start taking better care of myself. I mean I could cut back on a lot of things in order to save money so I could actually get food into my home. I could even start focusing on sleeping more. Go to bed earlier and everything," she explained as she walked to the door. "Shall we go?" she asked as she held the door open, but never looked back to him.

"Ya, were going. My car's out front. Your bike's at HQ." He said. "And before you ask. No, were not going to get it. I'm taking you home or somewhere and your gonna stay there, and I'm using the newfound time I have from a few days of personal leave that I'm not using getting drunk to check up on you." He said, following her first to the administration desk, then to the parking lot, and into his car.
"Now, where do you want to go? Think of me as a chauffeur, but I aint wearing any damn cap." He said, looking over at her.

Elijha sat in the seat as she looked out the window. She sighed a bit as she closed her eyes. She guessed that he was going to find out where she lived at one point or another. "To the store," she said lightly. With a nod he took off. It was about a 10 minute drive to the grocery store. Climbing out of the car they made a good 30 minute tour threw the grocery store picking up several things that she could use to put in her home. Once at the register she grimaced at the price, but shook it off. Taking out her debt card she went to swipe it, but stopped. Her hand shaking a bit as she realized what she was about to do. Sighing heavily she swiped her card and punched in the number, and then pocketed the card.
Loading the grocery's into the car they were once more off on the road. The trip was fairly long about a 30 minute trip all together. The homes were going from fancy to middle class, and finally to one of the man slums they had within the city. Graffiti littered the walls, and several people stood around on the corners. Gangs more than likely stood hidden within the dark side streets. Several screams echoed threw the streets, but no one seemed to pay any attention to them. "Pull into the garage," she said pointing to a three story car garage. "Top level," she pointed out.
As Marvin pulled into the building and stopped the car. She climbed out and walked to pick up the groceries. She kept her keys in hand as Marvin took the rest of the groceries. Walking into the building she lead him down a series of halls. All of which looked like they were torn apart or ready to fall apart. Graphite also lined the walls, and several needles could be stopped in corners of the area. She came up to room 613, and used four different keys to unlock the door. She pushed it open so Marvin could step in. Shutting it back she locked all six locks and tossed her keys on the side table.
She walked into an open area and pointed to one side of the room that looked to be a kitchen, or at least part of one. It had a stove fridge and sink , and that was about it. She set everything down and started putting them away. "Make yourself at home," she said as she pointed to a single sofa in the middle of the room. To the left was a curtain that hid what she would call her bedroom. This only consisted of a bed and a dresser. The bathroom had a door missing and once more a blanket covered it. "Sorry it isn't much, but it's all i could afford," she said as she finished putting the rest of the grocery's up.
Walking over to a set of papers she pulled out her check book and subtracted the amount she just spent. She sighed heavily as she ran her fingers threw her hair as she looked at how much it had just over drafted her account. Not to mention the charge for it being over drafted. Shaking her head she gathered up two glasses and pored Marvin some water out of a jug of water. Walking over she handed him one as she sat down at the other end of the sofa. "It's a bit difficult. I know people make more money working for the FBI. Enough to own decent homes or apartments," she sighed heavily as she shook her head. "Na- it's okay. I got some rest and I'm going to keep sleeping and eating. You don't have to worry about me anymore," she said as she looked up at him with a weak smile. In truth she felt ashamed in him seeing her how and how messed up it actually was.
