Matthew was seeing red. With the disorienting combination of deafness, blurry vision and blind hatred, anyone was seen as a target at the moment. Without noticing, he felt his grip tighten and he could slowly start to feel the life leaving the medic's body. That's when he felt fingers digging into his body, tugging him away like a Boa constrictor from it's prey. He could feel at least four hands prying him away, but he held fast. That was until his name was called. He tightened his grip as another set of hands gripped his elbow and attempted to pull him away- resistance was met but not broken.
"Matthew!"
He arm was pulled away with an unstoppable force, a loud gasp escaping the doctor's throat as he wriggled away clutching his trachea. With two other men assisting her, Aya wrestled Matthew up and held him up and quickly pushed him back towards the gurney- he caught himself before he fell as Aya moved and gripped his chin. He locked eyes with her, he could see the infection in her eyes, the blurriness came and went and finally cascaded over his vision. Paranoia sat in as he couldn't make out his environment, fear was clutching at his chest, suffocating him.
That's when she hit him.
He didn't even see it coming. The left side of his head felt as if a semi hit it, the percussive boom echoed throughout his skull as he felt his body begin to fall in the opposite direction. Consciousness drifted away momentarily from the shock to his system. Matthew was brought back to reality as arms held him straight, allowing him to stay standing. A loud, piercing ring pervaded his senses, water welling in his eyes briefly as the ringing subsided. He felt a familiar feeling in his ear canal as his implant slid back into place. Immediately, it was as if the world had turned the volume up a few notches- the wet gasping from the medic across the room, the breaths Aya was taking and the guns rattling on the merc's belts.
"You with me now?"
His right hand instinctively curled into a fist as he shut his eyes, a migraine rippling through his skull. The same hand that was balled quickly moved to his head, pressing his index and middle fingers against his temple. He winced as he opened his eyes, his vision returning double momentarily before it situated back to normal, reality coming back to him as his senses returned.
"Yeah... I'm just peachy."
He closed his eyes again and pressed his right palm to his head, cradling his forehead in his hand. She went about speaking to the mercs as he gritted his teeth, adrenaline pumping through his veins as he attempted to cool himself off.
"It's over, Matt. We did it."
He peeled his fingers off his face as he leaned back on the gurney, letting out a long sigh as he regained his composure, taking in his environment calmly. He listened to Aya explain the situation, not making eye contact with her. He stared off in the distance as the mercs left the room, rounding the corner and moving out of view.
"Thanks for that, by the way. Tyson and I probably wouldn't have held out long enough if it weren't for your help."Aya spoke as she moved close to his face. He hesitated for a second before relaxing as she applied the bandages.
"Yeah.. Just buy me a round and we'll be even..."He muttered as she walked away, pointing out the pile of clothes lying on a chair near the door.
After a few minutes, he was dressed in the simple black top, dark cargo pants and the black boots- basic fatigues for the PMC. He didn't like it, but it was fine- he still had his duffle bag, which meant he still had his old equipment. He didn't even bat an eye as he left the premises, moving outside the door and seeing Tyson with his new truck. Matthew shook his head then looked over to the Impala parked across the street. Searching for his equipment was a problem, but he had a feeling they may have kept it where he put it orignally. He approached his car, moving towards it and opening the driver's door. A wave of heat hit him as the leather released it's accumulated moisture and heat from the sun. He quickly reached in and withdrew his duffle bag, dropping it to the ground and leaving the door open, moving the duffle bag to the hood and opening it.
He smiled as his eyes met his Mateba and his sawn off as well as his machete sitting amongst his old clothing- washed. He wasn't sure if the mercs had polished his guns or sharpened his machete but he had a feeling it was fine either way. He quickly closed the bag and moved to the Impala, grasping the keys from the passenger side seat and stepping back out, looking over at Tyson. He gave him a wave.
"I'll be right behind you! I'll be fine."
He said, moving around to the doors and rolling down all the windows sequentially before stepping into the driver's seat.

[Kevin and Sherry are at the Hotel Mairage]
They had gotten to Vegas about an hour. And they bodies were taken care of by the Security team. Kevin had told them that they had perish in the line of duty when they had asked at a security Detail inspection. They took care of it and they were on there way. Kevin had stopped at The Mirage and took care of getting a room. The only one available was a room was that had two beds. He placed in on his credit card that he had used for spur of a moment deal. The took the second floor up to the room and used the card key to get in to any other hotel room. The Room had a small table, coffee maker and Coffee hotel brands on the table. The beds were they kind you had on a couples night with vibrating beds, but they all had it in the hotel anyway. A TV one side of the room and a dresser next to it along with that over by the bed they had a small drawer with an alarm clock on it. and the bathroom to the back.
Kevin Smirked at the fact that the beds were vibrating beds and they still cause 50 cents to operate them. "Great." he said. He sat his things on the bed and walked into the bathroom. He ran cold water in the sink and and splashed it on his face and grabbed a tale to pad his face down. He stair at the mirror and wondered for almost a second about his progress. He shrugged it off and came out of the bathroom. "Well?" He said Sherry, who was just walking in.

Upon arrival in Vegas, Sherry and Kevin had split up to check on the whole city. The BSAA hadnt been operational that much, since only about a month or so had passed since the outbreak, this would give the pair enough time to get what they came for. Even though what they initially came for was just a cover up, it was still a cover she had to portray and retrieve.
The first place she went was the Security HQ, to discuss the matters with the head office. But due to an inconvienent time, it was delayed until further notice. This left Sherry with little work in the city, she was never really one to just sit back and wait for anything. If there a problem, shed solve it, a mission, shed finish it. This was a stand still, nothing they could do about it now besides just shake it off and move on. Not every story ends happy or sad, some seem like the final pages have been ripped out. Or in the case with the two BSAA agents, the end to their story hadnt even been written yet...
"Well what, Kevin? Our mission here is over, its finished. Wouldnt call it a failure, but its not exactly how I wanted it to turn out..." The red head unstrapped her equipment and tossed it onto the bed. Feeling the heat even in the winter was something she had been used to for a long time, but it didnt ever help her stress levels. Sherry looked down at the bed, and saw the photo of John Chinook, it fell out of her bag. That was the real mission, the one she dragged Kevin into because she couldnt do it alone. She had to tell him the truth, before they called into base that evening. "...Ive been meaning to talk to you about something, about our mission."

When Kevin said well, he really didn't refer to the mission since he knew it was over. The word 'talk' came up. usually it was something not good, and in fact, he was expecting to here it come up. Whatever it was, wasn't really gonna effected him. "I'm use to hearing bad news," He looked away from her. He leaned up against the wall with his right shoulder. He looked at her, he knew it was about something involving him. "So? what about our mission?" He half smiled, placing his hands in his pockets, calm as ever.

It wasnt that he was lying to him, the mission was the same. It was just the conditions of it. They were here for certain reasons, some personal, some mutually benifietial to the BSAA. But the most important reason was that is was under the covers the whole time. "The mission was Bravo Oscar, nobody by the colonel and I knew it was happening. The cover-up mission was simple, tour Las Vegas to see how things were going, thats why we only needed two people. The whole reason we actually came here was so the BSAA could track down John Chinook, theyve had their eye set on him ever since the events of the last outbreak..."
It wasnt some sort of cover up, Sherry didnt do it to lie to Kevin. She really did have a good partner. Maybe all they needed was just time to plan, the mission wont be finished until the guy is brought in, nobody else knows the BSAA is doing this. Theyre on there on for the next however long. "...It was so we could focus on the mission, not anything else. I shouldve told you from the beginning. Its just not how I work with people, they always found a way to mess it up, half ass everything. Not you though, your different. You had my back."

Kevin nodded. He kinda figured there was something not being said. Classified or not, he was use to the drill. Sherry had reasons for giving that much from the start. "Yeah, well...I'm not the half ass type." He took the hat off and tossed it on his bed. It seemed like they still had a job to do for some reason. Fine by him. "So we're still tracking him until they cut the plug, correct?" He asked.

Sitting down on the bed, and putting her feet up, Sherry undid her boots. The steel towed bricks were just weighing her down inside the hotel, she didnt need any of her gear on while inside the city, and she wanted planning on leaving the hotel room anytime soon. She wanted to just relax, take some time to think things through, relish the thought of everything thats happened in the short amount of time after landing. "Yeah, were going to track him down. I still have the radio, he can still track it. We just have to give him a signal, a reason to meet up with us. Id rather go through with this at night time, after the checkpoints were slowed down a little. Too much traffic could be bad for the mission, especially if were going to be leaving Vegas again. So until than, how about we just take it easy in here for awhile? Not long enough to get too comfy, but might as well take advantage of the safety, right?"
There was so much to do around Vegas, in this Hotel alone. There was a large pool for guests, and there wouldnt be too much of them after six, would be a good time to exercise. The BSAA camps sometimes had other forms of it, but swimming in a pool at been one thing she enjoyed, and with the heat, it was something that was most desired. It wasnt that Sherry was being unprofessional, they just had time to kill, and needed to blend in. Everybody else was having a fun time, so whether her or Kevin wanted to or not, thats what they needed to do. "Or, if youd rather, you can just sit here in the room." Sherry grinned at Kevin, knowing that he wanted to just take a load off as well, no matter how hard assed her was.

Kevin found it hard to take the offer to relax, but it was just on hard day for them both. He smiled, since he did know he wanted to chill. "Gotta say, last time I went swimming was back at my folks place." It was his finally answer. He was lucky enough that he braught a pair of basketball shorts for swim trunks, and the fabric was good enough for fast drying. "Water never hurt anybody, yeah?" He grin back.

With all of her gear off, Sherry figured the only thing that made her look any sort of professional would be the boots, but a lot of the people around were wearing them. A pink tanktop, with white trackpants. If anybody could it, youd think that the zombie outbreak never affected her. But if you guessed that, youd be right, in more ways than one. It was always that one crucial moment in somebodies history that decided where theyre going to be days from then. Most people have no clue, they just roam and roam until they find somewhere they think is safe. If it is safe, than thats where they stayed until it was all over. If not, they move on, simple as that.
Sherry never ever had to travel much following the outbreak, she was always in a safe and secure location. Hell, she didnt even know about the zombie outbreak until she was in her early teens...
"Tell me about your first time... Umm, I mean, in 1998, the outbreak. What happened?"

Kevin sat on the chair his combat boots off, the dirt blended with the ACU terrian camo so much a bit. He remembered back when the uniform changed from woodland to digital woodland to terrian back in 2004. Everything changed, exspacially his mood when Sherry asked about the Raccoon city outbreak. His face turn grim, looking back at her, he gave a half smile. "Not many people back in the service don't talk about it, maybe just small talk here and there." He placed his boots to the side of the wall then sat straight in the chair looking at her direction.
"They stationed the Army on one of the roads leading to the city. They didn't know what to expect since they called it a 'riot' so of couse they sent the Army in first just a small groug enough to stop a normal right, but all their kill cams got was a free horror show to their last men they would see. Thats when they declared it a biohazard threat. After that they sent the Marines in on the other side leading to Raccoon and to go in then the Army an hour apart.
"My team sat back in front of the TV watching the news when they still called it a rioting. But thats when we were sent out. Marissa Fransah, Dexter Davidson, Alex Temple, Ash Issak, were all the back up I needed. Mission was to rescue five Umbrella scientists, and civians along the way. Side mission: Assist Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service anyway as possible. It was just the same normal routine as always before we had out to any mission, Id crack a few jokes, act wild and pumped, listen to Mar and Alex go at it about something stupid...Marine stuff. When we got to the Hot zone, things didn't turn out as planned."
Kevin took a deep breath and exhaled. It was a long while since he had to bring back a trip to memory lane...
The convoy came to a complete stop as gunshots were heard. Everyone looked at each other. "What the hell, f--king drive, man we're not even at the drop off yet!" Alex yelled. The moment had change, Kevin had senced it. There was a door slam after the next followed by screams by the driver and a wet fleshy noise as if something was being rip in the rain the passanger open the trunk up with a scared look as if he saw a ghost. "No time, you need to get there by foot-" Kevin got up "What the hell do you mean-" several groups of people came covered in blood and thrown the man down and screams. "holy sh*t!" Marissa gasped. "What the..." Dexter said after her. Kevin walked over and seen the few that had thrown the passanger down were now feeding on his body then out of the corner of his eyes a black male lashed out from the corner of his eyes. he had blood drooling out of his mouth with pieces of flesh hanging between its teeth
He look deep in her eyes. Same stair when that zombie came into view. "They thought they could just push us through to our destination, but they just yanked the driver out and the other guy they did the same thing when he had came around the back to tell us that we're on our own by foot. Its was lucky enough that Ash had his side arm out to shoot that walkers hand clean off. We left the truck and ran...we only slowed them down a bit buy shooting them in the chest, but it was wasting ammo and the time we needed to save them scientists. the quickest way we though would be the best was traversing the alleys. We left Main street to get to the next road. We turned the next corner and Marissa was almost someones lunch."
"Get away!" She shouted struggling to get the female looter off her. Kevin unhuster his pistol, reloading another round into his M4A1 was going to waste alot of time and shot the bloody looter in her head. "Christ, She had one hellova death grip" Marissa said. "You alright?" Kevin asked her. "yeah, can you say FUBAR in Italian?" Kevin ignored her remark and glanced at Ash and Dexter "For now on, aim at their heads. We waste alot of magazines if we're shooting at their bodies. Alex," Alex looked at him. "plant semtexs on them corridors, We'll hold them off. I want this quick so get to it." "You got it"
"We blown the ally entrance and proceeded on foot. As we moved further down the street, the more strange things we seen, It got to Marissa really bad. She try to save a little girl when she came out of the exsit in one of the allies we passed. she couldn't make it to the child in time. None of us couldn't. and the UBCS weren't doing any better. We got to the location were the scientists were being held at the Umbrella corprate office. We pulled them out quick as we could and then we had to go another mile west for extraction. We stopped at a small market we he had to let the group rest. I checked up on Marissa who wasn't in her game face anymore. She was...something else."
Kevin walked over to the next asle were she was crying. "This isn't real...this can't be real..." Kevin sighed and walked over to her, sitting by her side. He gently grabbed her arm. "I need you to hang in there...for me. I known you since you came to fort Taxas. Remember the time when you saved my ass back in Iraq? I was beat to sh*t and the last thing you said was..." Marissa looked over at Kevin. "...I'm not leaving you without our spirit" Kevin smiled at her. "Thats right...If i'm the spirit of this team, then you're my soul...we didn't loose anyone from the team yet, nor this damn nerds" Marissa weakly giggled. Kevin smiled then frown. "We still have a job to do" "ok"
Kevins gaze was now on the ground. Then it shifted to Sherry. "She was like you, only she was a hard ass from birth. Didn't take sh*t from anyone. It was hard to see her was weak as she was back then. After our rest we pressed on to our extraction point and got a chopper out of the city. We got back and we went to see the head of JOC (Join Operation Camp) They had another mission for us to prepare for. By the time I that was done, Ash had told me that Marissa had lost it. I found her in the APC convoy cutting her wrist saying the same thing. 'Its not real'...That was the last time I saw her and she's been MIA for for fourteen years now since the outbreak...Our mission was to investagate the death of Platoon B. The last transmittion from them was that there was abnormal soldiers with MP5ks and they were not taking any damages...We didn't know what happen, so they pulled the military out and clustered bomb the hell out of the city."
Kevin took a deep breathe. He couldn't make sence of it back then until the truth was revaled. "They gave us the standard issue isolation for 72 hours and things went back to normal." He looked studied Sherry a bit more closely. "And I know you lived in Raccoon city...you voice tells it all. Were you there when the outbreak happen?" He asked her with confadance he had.

Listening to the story, Sherry almost had to cry. Everybody had went through a lot, ever single person alive went through a tough time. The first time was always the worst, because with the amount of confusion, mixed with people getting slaughtered and gunned down in front of you, it was the worst experience anybody could have. "You were already a soldier, you had a team, firepower, at least enough to make it out of there alive. I was only fifteen at the time, and its something ill never forget.
It wasnt until moving into Highschool that it all happened. During one of the freshman year assemblys, there was a a break in at the school, and an evacuation not long after. Apparently, there had been a fire that spread from the Cafe. Only it wasnt the fire everybody was screaming about. People were running around acting crazy, biting eachother, and pure violence. The police had showed up at the school to help, but it was too late, whatever was going on around the city had moved onto my class. My boyfriend and I, Kyle, had escaped, running away in panic just as hundreds of other did. Only we were lucky enough to get away alive due to all of the rioting.
The only place I could even think of to go was back home, which was only a few blocks away. After arriving, nobody was there. Kyle and I locked ourselves inside, and started to call everywhere to try and find out exactly what was going on. 911 Calls werent going through, TV broadcasting was all being cancelled, and live radio air had switched over to static. All we could do was wait for help. It wasnt until those infected burst into the home they we knew it wasnt safe there. We evaded the walkers, and managed to get out onto the street. Whatever was going on, it was beyond anything a young teenage mind could comprehend.
Taking a car from the neighbors yard, we circled around the streets, passing by our parents workplaces, and then going to Kyles home to see if his parents were home. But the place was empty as well, the city was under total chaos in a matter of hours. The radio had spoke about what might be going on, but it was all complete lies, there was no real explaination for what was going on. The only thing we could do was accept that Raccoon City was in a state of emergency, and it was out of hand from the police or whoever was trying to help. We had taken the car out of the city, driving back to my old town, Stoneville, seeking refuge. It was a few hours away, and nightfall was coming fast. We thought it would be safe.
When we reached Stoneville, seemed the same thing was happening, only on a much smaller scale. The police had it under control for the most part, and we were able to take shelter at the station. That was when there was a loud sound coming from miles east, in the direction of Raccoon City. From what the police were saying, it seemed like the government or military, or whoever, had blasted the city in hopes to contain the rioting from expanding any further. Guess that was you, than, Kevin. I was devistated, but Kyle was there to comfourt me, he was the only one left to be there for me now. Local hospitals had come up with a logical idea about the scenario, a viral outbreak, turning the infected into killers. It was crazy, but at the time, anyone would believe anything..."
Sherry had explained her own story. "Not many people had heard that before, and come to think of it, everybody who had isnt alive anymore. Im only thirty years old, I was too young during the outbreak. Everytime I think about it now, I wonder how we had even survived as long as we did..." Then Sherry lowered her head, thinking about her boyfriend, her fiance, the boy she knew was the one. "We were moved to Vegas not long after, and I finished my highschool education there. But not four years later, Kyle and I signed up for the Las Vegas Security. For the four years that followed, we were highly trained scavengers. But during a mission, he got himself infected, and, well, you know the rest..."
Looking back up at Kevin, who was alive, well trained, and in the same position she was, Sherry wiped away the tears and spoke out with a more serious tone. "It was then I joined the BSAA, and made it into their STARS Unit. Five years later, here I am, talking to you. Hard to believe its been this long. Seems like only yesterday that it all happened, doesnt it?" Her tone was more happy now, looking at Kevin. He was the first partner she had a connection with since Vegas, seemed like old time to her, good memories.

Kevin listen to her story, taking it in moment at at time. She teared up while she told him the story. Kevin could only imagin what she went through by the time of the Outbreak of 98 to were she was now. "Well none of us would be were we're at now if it wasn't for the outbreak. I'm no believer, but I do think everything happens for a reason. Might not be the right reason, but it happens." He wasn't sure if that was the right words to say but he continued on. "I know I wouldn't be here, if i hadn't join the service. Frankly, I couldn't see myself anywhere else but here."

And that was the truth, whether Sherry wanted to think about it or not. Everything did happen for a reason, nobody should ever think too hard about what happened, nor why they were even here in the first place. The fact of the matter was that they were here because they kept looking forward, no matter what. "Were here because were survivors. We didnt just get lucky, we were born for this. Most of the time were all just misguided ghosts, traviling endlessly. We dont need no roads. Theres no one road, we cant all be the same. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."
Sherry glanced at her watch, seeing that it was near six in the afternoon already. Most of their time here in Vegas had been spent checking the place out, but now was the time to take a load off. "Hey, lets hit the pool while theres still daylight left."

She didn't need to tell Kevin twice. The both of them got there swim wear together and head to the pool area. The changing room was right near the pool that looked pretty empty. Kevin walked in the mens side of the changing room. He sat on the bench, Taking his shirt off and white beater. He took his pants off as well and changed into them basketball shorts he had. He Left his clothes and extra pair of boxer briefs to change into. He walked out to the side of the pool dipping his feet in, The water was cold but it was also the kind were you sit in the cold water it gets warm after awhile. He slowly stepped in the pool, letting the cold get to him, He went all the way in and underneith, getting soaked completley. He thrown his head up out of the water. "Just Right" He said

Without any proper swimwear, it would be a bit of an awkward thing if she just went in her clothes, nor was Sherry willing to just take them all off. But her sports underwear worked just fine, it was waterproof for different reasons. When Kevin was spoke out to her that the water was just right, Sherry has tossed her cloths aside, and then opened up the curtain. Without letting Kevin get a good chance to stare, she made a full sprint towards the water, finally jumping at the end of the pool and diving into the water.
For nearly two minutes, she stayed underwater, swimming back and fourth between sides nearly touching the bottom. But just so she didnt give Keven a scare by staying under so long, Sherry finally came to the surface, gasping for air and feeling her heard beating from the physical workout. "Five laps... Underwater... Thats the first time... Ive done that... In a long time..." The water felt great, it was the last thing she expected to be doing, but also one of the most apriciated things she gave to her body after all the hard work.
