Cameron aimed around the girl and Kevin in case any of the zombies overwhelmed them, but they closest ones to them were pretty far gone at that point. The other reason was the noise... gunshots tended to attract the alive and the undead and Cameron was not eager to encounter many of either at this point.
Not until he had his truck filled up with gas.
As Kevin and the girl made their way toward the rear of the gas station, Cameron went back to the ladder to cover them from any unknown guests that may have made their way around there. As far as noise was concerned, he heard alot of moaning, but it would probably die down once the three of them were inside the building.
The ladder shook a bit as the Kevin and the girl began to climb up. Other that that, there were no more zombies around.
All in all, a pretty good rescue. He waited until they were both on the roof to introduce himself.

Rissa was up the ladder faster than she thought she could move, adrenaline and the genuine fear of being torn apart and eaten alive spiriting her up the ladder before she knew it. She flopped onto the roof and turned around, ready to take the other person's hand and help him up. He'd saved her, the least she could do was give him a hand up.

As they rounded the corner to the back of the station, Kevin moved aside and let the girl go up first. He watched the alley and though he could hear the moaning, nothing rounded the corner on him. He let her get a good 6 feet up the ladder before he started up. Kevin holstered his revolver and sword and began to climb. As he reached the top, the girl stuck out a hand and he gripped it, letting her help him over the side.
At the top, Cameron was standing there with his rifle. During the run, Kevin wondered why he hadn't shot. Now that they were up on the roof, he was glad the younger man had shown restraint. No sense collecting more undead around the station.
Looking over the girl, it seemed that whatever and where ever she had come from, it wasn't pretty. The old cop in him wanted to interrogate her, but he held off. He sat down on the roof and let the sun warm his face until he had caught his breath. Soon, they would want to move into the station, but for now, he was content to stay up on the roof.
"Name's Kevin. This here is Cameron", he said motioning to Cameron. "What is your name and why were you tied up?"

[[ooc - hey Jessika, does rissa have a profile created? I wanted to read more about your character]]
Cameron nodded and waved as Kevin mentioned him. "Hey I'm Cameron", he said, as if confirming what Kevin had said. He looked over the girl a bit. Dirty and in need of a shower and some food, but there was also something wrong with her wrists. As he began to understand, his eyes widened.
"Were you tied up or something?", he asked apprehensively. If she was tied up, then someone was holding her against her will. And if she escaped, then they might be after her... which means that they might be headed here.
"I think it best if we head down into the station itself and get off this roof. I've found a hatch and it looks to be the only way down inside from here."

"Rissa. My name's Rissa. Well, it's Larissa but everyone calls me...nevermind. Rissa works."
She held up her hands, the angry red marks on her wrists from pulling at the zip ties evident. She smiled sheepishly, and was glad that her hands were freed and the people that rescued her weren't out looking for her. At least she didn't recognize them from her community. She would have known if they were, they weren't any of The Branded.
"I'd really like to get off this roof and somewhere safe. I don't even know where "here" even is."

Cameron grinned. "Hi Rissa. Here", he stretched his hands to incorporate the small town that they were in. "Is Still Creek. We are about 45 miles away from Vegas. I was on my way there when my car ran out of gas. If I can get to these pumps outside and get some gas, I... we should be able to make it into Vegas. Last time I was there, it was a safe haven... well safer anyway." Realizing he was talking too much, Cameron stopped abruptly and then grabbed the hatch that led down into the station. He readied his revolver and then turned the handle and pulled up. Surprisingly, he wasn't greeted with the fresh face of an undead person biting at his fingers or toes. In fact, as he looked down, the station seemed devoid of life. "I'll go first and the Rissa, and Kevin, if you could bring up the rear and close the hatch. As soon as we get out of sight, the better off it will be for all of us." Cameron holstered his weapon and slowly began to climb down the ladder than ran down the interior of the building. As he reached the bottom, he took out his flashlight and moved away from the ladder. He drew is machete out with the other hand, ready for anything, something to attack them. The beauty of the station was that most of it was visible from his position in the bay. There were not many hiding places there. Off to the left was the front of the station that hopefully held a little bit of food. Next to it was a door that led to a break room and rest room where they would probably be staying if they weren't able to get gas to his truck today. The bay doors were locked and the windows in the front were boarded up. The only thing that still needed to be checked in the bay was an old Jeep Wrangler, which had a thick layer of dust coating it. The air was dry and stale... not having that stench of undead and rotting bowels that most of the world had now. As the others came down the ladder, he nodded to the truck. "Let's check out the jeep before we check out the rest of the station."

Kevin followed Cameron and Rissa down the ladder. As he descended, he stopped long enough to shut the hatch and twist the handle, sealing it. It was squeaky and loud, which hopefully meant that if anyone else tried to come in, they would here it open. Kevin climbed down the ladder, trying to be extra careful with his bladed weapons. As he stepped off the ladder he turned and looked around. It was the typical, two bay gas station with a jeep sitting in the far stall. One room to the front that was the store and one in the back that probably let to a bathroom and a breakroom. As Cameron talked about checking out the Jeep, Kevin nodded.
He laid his quarterstaff down. With it not being useful in close quarter situations, he opted for his sword. Slowly, he crept around the jeep. It was an older model, probably from the 70's or so and had been well maintained. It had a lift and no doors or top so it was fairly easy to check it out.
"Well even without doors and a top, I like it. If no one else wants it, I'll take it."

"I don't know how to drive, so sure, go ahead. I call shotgun though."
Even though they were inside and away from the undead crowding the street, Rissa kept her voice low. Just because they did a sweep doesn't mean they didn't miss anything. She didn't want to get eaten because she couldn't shut up.
"Think there's anything to eat in the store? I think better when I'm not hungry."

Cameron looked at the Jeep. If they were just pounding around through the desert for fun, it would definitely be a cool ride. Riding around in the Zombie Apocalypse with no roof or windows... not so much.
"Jeep's all yours, man. Have fun... don't get bit", was all that Cameron said. Rissa mentioned food and needing to eat and it was like Cam's stomach fully agreed. It rumbled and he wanted food too.
"Good idea. Let's check the other two rooms and then see what we can scrounge around to eat."
Cameron moved to the door on the right... the one that led to storefront with the boarded windows. It was ironic... just 15 feet away from the door was the gas pump that Cam so desperately needed. It was only the mob of zombies that stood between them and the pumps that stopped him.
As he opened the door, Cam immediately crouched down. Even though the windows were boarded up, he didn't want to take a chance. Nearly squatting on the floor, he slowly and painfully made it across the floor, under the boards so that his movement would be minimally noticed. As he crawled around the counter, he began to search the shelved for food, medicine, toilet paper, anything of use. The store was pretty well ransacked, but sometimes there were always things left behind. He moved farther away from the windows and found a few items of interest.
- bottle of Ibuprofen - A box of crackers - 2 cans of soup - 1 two liter of Caffeine Free Coke
Man I hope the other ones are getting luckier than I am, he thought

Rissa watched the man move, wary that even though they seemed to be safe, he wasn't going to take any chances. These were lessons she needed to learn herself. What little time she spent out of the compound, and her prison, had not been very informative. She had survived on little more than blind luck, and that wasn't going to work for her here.
"I'll see what I can find. Maybe something to carry whatever we find as well? Might help?"
As she looked around, she watched the windows, the shadows slowly moving past the holes in the barricade as the dead prowled outside. As she looked through the shelves, she saw a few items of importance and brought them back to Cameron to look over.
"I found these bottles of oil, a lighter, and some candy bars. Maybe if we find something else we can get the Jeep running again?"

"JACKPOT", said Kevin, about as loud as he dared. He was in the back of the store where he had found his prizes. He held up a large jar of peanut butter, the crunchy kind, and a 6 pack of beer. It must have been a local brew as Kevin had never heard of the Sierra Nevada brewing company.
But it was still beer. Kevin walked back up towards the front of the store. "Not much else back there", he said. "But what I did find was so worth it." Kevin put his findings alongside Cameron's and Rissa's. It didn't look like much, but they would feast tonight on odds and ends.
With not much left to look at in the store, and with the undead just outside, Kevin motioned to the door leading back to the garage. "Let's check the break room and then eat back there. I'm not much on moaning with a meal."
Kevin grabbed his beer and peanut butter and put them in one of the plastic sacks that were at the front counter and then left the store front as quietly as possible.
As he approached the only door they hadn't opened, he set down his sack, freeing his hands for his sword. He turned the handle and with the point of the sword, he pushed the door open.

Rissa stood back from the door, and was sure she wasn't in Kevin's way as he checked to make sure the last room in the building didn't have anyone inside of it. She only had the borrowed knife, and she wasn't sure she'd be able to take down whatever could be hiding there without getting injured...or worse. It was best to let him handle it, as both of the men seemed to be more experienced than she was.

Cameron followed Kevin's lead and took the stuff that they had found and put it on the floor of the garage bay. He drew out his machete and followed Kevin into the break room. As he passed the door, he fanned out away from Kevin, but keeping Rissa between him and Kevin. The breakroom was pretty much what you would expect from a gas station breakroom... dirty floors stained with grease, old furniture that was well worn, and a few skin mags tossed around.
On the fall wall there was a row of cabinets and a refrigerator and a sink. A smaller door led to what would have to be the bathroom. There wasn't many hiding places in the room and nothing really jumped out at them, so Cameron moved toward the bathroom door. He knocked on the door. "Hello?", he said loudly. Why open the door and get bit when he could just try to agitate whatever was there.
Only silence answered them.
He knocked again and waited.
Nothing.
Slowly Cameron opened the door and swung it towards him. He peered around the door and looked inside. Besides needing a good cleaning, it was empty except for a toilet, a sink and a mirror.
Shutting the door, he turned back to the others. "Well, I guess we can check the cabinets here for more items, but I don't have alot of hope in it."

Rissa let out a shaky breath as the break room was shown to be safe. She didn't know how long she had been holding her breath, and the thought of being safe, even for the short time they would be in the gas station, somehow made her feel better. She nodded her head, and began looking through the cabinets anyways, just in case there was something they could use. Leave no stone unturned was what she had heard someone say.
"Hey, lookit this!"
She held up a crowbar, dusty but in pristine condition. It must have been purchased right before the world fell, and was never used. It was heavy, but it felt good to have something with more reach than a knife in her hands.
