This facility stands on what was once called the Provincial Lunatic Asylum, which opened on the early 1850s. The facility had a series of names including the Lunatic Asylum and 999 Queen Street West. Reforms were made after a series of deaths, and newspaper accounts of involuntary drug treatment, electroshock therapy and prison-like conditions. With a dark past like this, maybe the walkers aren't the only thing you have to worry about when looting the place for medical supplies.

[Anna has entered the mental hospital]
Places like these were never where she'd wanted to be. Regardless of the situation, they were isolated, cold and plain creepy.
The agent staggered wearily into the entry way, slumped up against the doorway, pushing her bodyweight up against the door, itself, emitting a sliver of light, thought not much since there was complete overcast. The helicopter going down almost five or six blocks away had been a narrow escape from collision with office building entrances, flames and undead. The pilot had shoved her out into a grassy landscape infront of a school yard where as he had been tangled in a faulty seat belt, the aircraft skidding out of control into the streets and then crashing into a library.
She still wasn't sure how it happened or why, but being thrown out from even the small gap between her and the ground, had twisted her ankle and scraped up her arms when she tucked and rolled through the overgrown grass. To make matters worse, there were a few small undead, gradeschool children, roaming through the front of the school.
Either way, she'd managed to make it to the local hospital. From there, everything had been looted entirely. More walking had lead her to entry way of the mental hospital, hoping that maybe, they had something for her here. The plan was to fix herself up and then make it back into Pennsylvania some way. She was short on time. The only hope she had was the last radio message before the chopper went down. Hopefully HQ would go looking for her...or something.
Now here she was, limping on in throug the entry, shining her flashlight around in the darkness. The windows were boarded up and heavy grafitti had laced the walls. Some of the grafitti seemed fresh...
"Great..." she grumbled, wandering further in.

Hearing the loud sounds coming from outside of the building, larger man held onto his double barreled shotgun tightly, making sure to keep in the darkness of the staff wing. They had just got finished setting up tripwires around the place, little chain link on them, so if anything had been roaming the halls it would make a clank in the direction it came from. The doors seemed to open, but none of the tripwires went off, which was the worst case scenario. "You can go, just stay here with me, please, baby!" The younger woman spoke out, obviously worried for their safety. "Keep it down, Rhonda, im just going to scout the hallway, I know I heard somebody come through the doors."
The man let go of his wifes hand, and then moved into the hall, pacing down slowly. Stepping carefully over the fishing ling he placed, it would be impossible for anybody to know they were there, that is unless they just managed to step over them with more luck than a nun at the craps table. As far as he knew, the whole place was safe, so long as they stay quiet, and on the main floor. The basement floor was locked off, and there wasnt any signs the door was even opened since the outbreak, so it couldnt be know what exactly was down there.
Just than, footsteps could be heard coming from the back of the hallway, and the man called back to his wife with a worried tone. "Rhonda, is that you? Get back inside, dont come out here, its not safe..." Without getting any response, the man aimed his shotgun down the hallway, and flicked on his flashlight. "...Rhonda" In that moment, the man had been sliced in the neck, blood gushing down his front as he tried to speak. Only gurgles were audible, and it wasnt long before a horrible scream filled the hallways of the entire building, the woman obviously in extreme pain and suffering. But it didnt last, only a few seconds. When it was cut off, Arc watched as the woman he was looking for, Anna, go inside. "Dont play hero..." he spoke to himself. Several of the room on the upper floor had gone black, once lit up by occupants, there were others in the building. He could even sense them.

The redhead had been easing herself into the building, her light catching the glint of string stretched out along the tile down the hall ahead. She'd raised a brow and knelt down to take a good look at it when an ear splitting scream had briefly caught her off guard, forcing her to snap her head up and shine the light back down the darkened hall. Then there was dense silence while the lights of what had to be the elevator further down, had switched off.
The hairs on the nape of her neck had risen as her fingers clenched both her flashlight and her sidearm tightly. She'd felt a cold sweat trickle down her back as she contemplated what to do. Clearly she wasn't alone and this was still a mental hospital. The blood that trickled down her brow from her head injury prior to making it here, had made her flinch. Her head ached and the stress of this was so great, her vision blurred. Her meds were also still in the chopper with her assault rifle, so both were long gone.
The medicine was what was important. It sustained her. The hospital was her only chance to get through the night. She'd glared a bit before turning to leave. She'd have to get the jump on whatever it was that made the scream or inflicted it, so for now, she'd coughed a little and wandered on toward one of the office doors. Doing so, she'd only turned completely around to get grasped by a wandering ghoul. It was a woman in a patient's gown. It was so filthy and ripped that one could see her gouged breast with a large chunk missing from the side. Another chunk of flesh from her throat and jaw had been gone, exposing gnarled teeth.
Anna grimaced at the sight and smashed her pistol into the side of it's face, sending it stumbling aside. Shooting it ould have been quicker but she didn't want to startle anyone, give away her location, in which case, she'd front kicked it, square in the gut, slamming it's back up against the wall. It grunted and groaned while she reached out, gripped it by it's jaw to keep it back and began beating it's head in with the pistol.
With heavy blows, she panted and a soft dent imprinted into it's softened, decayed, forehead before it stopped moving all together. She'd continued to breathe hard, keeping her grip on it as she'd stared into it's lifelss eyes. Letting go after a moment, she'd stumbled back, wiping her full finger gloves off on her pants, a morose look about her face. This wasn't right, she didn't feel right.
"Get a grip...get a...grip...I'm alright...it's dead. I'm alive..." she muttered, trying to hold in the sudden urge to vomit. Was this a withdrawl? Shaking her fringes out of her sweaty face, she'd pushed open the door before her, preparing her flashlight, gun and composure once more.
Inside had been the bathrooms. They seemed fairly clean and empty. Of course one could never be too careful. She'd sighed and turned around, facing the entry again. The halls, she'd have to take the chance, she needed her supply.
"F*ck it." she said, carefully stepping over the wires and moving further down the hall.

The long, fairly narrow hallway that the red headed woman had walked down was only just beginning. All of the tripwires had been cleared out, but one thing was for certain, the people downstairs were dead. Beady little eyes kept behind the door near the end of the hall, seeing the flashlight can the walls. A womans voice, speaking to herself, she was alone, completely alone. But, this didnt change the fact that the door was locked from the inside, and the beady eyed man was on the inside. The medicine storage was the first place survivors came, so it was only obvious that he would make base inside. The man was still tripping over his thoughts after hearing the scream, it was definite that one of the crawlers got in, in hopes of scoring a meal.
As the red headed woman got closer and closer to the back of the hallway, the beady eyed man seen her looking in the open door just about five meters down. He could only imagine the carnage that was in there, the hallway was already a blood mess. Not having any batteries for his own flashlight, and the blubs in the room had been all broken. The only thing that remained were two candles, and they hadnt been lit yet, not tonight, not until the monsters were all gone. They couldnt get in, he couldnt get out, so it was lose lose. But he was safe for now, the monster had been upstairs. How could it not be? The red headed woman was still alive, that was a good sign. Finally giving up the wait, and after tweaking a little from the footsteps that killed the complete silence, the beady eyes man spoke out. "Psst... Hey... Hey you... Yeah, you... Come over here..." The door unlocked, and than opened up. "...Hurry up, itll be back again soon..."

Anna had glanced at the door where a shifty man's voice had came from. He'd beckoned her to get inside the room before this, "monster" had came after them. Of course Anna knew better, she wasn't one to trust anyone in the middle of the outbreak but by the words etched into the plaque near the doorway, he was inside of the very room she needed to get inside of. She'd grunted and shone a light on the man's face, pointing her sidearm at his face, squinting and scowling.
"Back away from the door, I'll go in after you," she told him, keeping her feet firmly on the ground infront of him.

A twitch in his eye when the woman refused to come inside, and a sporadic flex of his arm when he seen that she was standing in the doorway. The guy was obviously insane, there wasnt any other reasonable explanation, because after backing up bit, he lunged for the red head. A gunshot rang off as he arched himself for a tackle, but a sharp pain in his shoulder forced a yell out of his mouth. Still, he managed to take her to the ground, and use both of his hands to choke her ferociously. "I gave you the chance, and you j-" Before he could finish his sentence, the mans head had nearly exploded, and he was sent rolling along the floor, decapitated.
The licker burst through the vent above Anna, forcing her inside of the room, and closing the thick steel door behind her. Even the small window had been grated off with bars, it would be impossible for it to get inside, but now that it caught onto the scent of a human, it wasnt going to give up. Another showed up, obviously alerted by the sound of hunger.
Suddenly, the sound of boot hitting the ground, almost running down the hallway could be heard as the two monsters just salivated over the trapped prey. In an instant, Arc had leaped on top of one of them, his arms in a locking position around its neck area. A loud snap followed, as the licker had been killed instantly, but this only angered the second. Keeping its distance, the long tentacle like tongue whipped around Arcs leg, but it couldnt pull him off balance. Instead, he used his own weight to pull the creature toward him. As it tumbled forward, Arc cut its tongue off completely with his knife, and then held it downward, ready for an attack. A loud screech, which likely alerted everything within earshot, emitted through the halls. The moment the licker had lunged toward him, Arc drove the knife under its mouth, piercing its brain and let it hang in the air for several seconds before it slid off. Standing there without any light, he waited for Anna to make a move, not wanting her to fire.

The crazy ass had snapped and lunged for her, leaving her pulling at the trigger instantaneously but since he'd been too close, he pushed her arms down a little, hitting him in the shoulder as he'd fell atop of her, fingers clenched tightly into her throat as she'd dropped her gun and grasped at his arms. When her face reddened, the vent burst above them and his head had been dismembered.
"The f*ck?!" she shouted, leaping into the room and slamming the door closed behind her. She'd reached for her sidearm but found nothing. Her weapon had fallen outside the door in the hall, all she ahd left on her was a combat knife, it wasn't her trench back home, so it wasn't as useful. Especially against Lickers.
Her heart raced and jolted in her ribs while she backed away from the door. She could hear the eerie whisp of a hiss through the door, then screeching. After a moment or so, there'd been the sounds of face paces footsteps, more screeching and what sounded like a tussle outside. Before long, it'd gone completely silent. The agent furrowed her brows and stared down the door. The entire room was fairly cramped but stored with bottles and bottle of medication, maybe not pain killers, but meds to treat mental diseases, which was worth alot for her if they had what she needed.
Right now, however, she was only concerned with what awaited her outside of the door. If it was another crazy or not. Opening it, unarmed, was stupid. Instead, she'd kept her distance and crouched down beside one of the metal counters to take cover incase something bashed the door down or shot at her.
In a tern voice, she spoke aloud.
"Who's out there? Friend or foe? I've got C4 planted in here. Detonator in hand too. If you f*ck with me, I'll take us all down," she bluffed. She wasn't that crazy but if it was an enemy then she'd scare em off with a bomb threat and her "insanity".
In a split second, she'd grinned and stifled a chuckle. It was humorously ironic since she was part of what was practically an Anti-Terrorism group.

Picking up the handgun in the hallway, Arc looked at it, and then slipped it into his pants pocket. The rush of adreanalin had gone away, he didnt even consider the lickers to be any threat to him. Not anymore, at least. Still gripping the tongue in his hand, he walked for the doorway, but heard Anna inside yell out a bomb threat. Bit he didnt speak, just reach for the door, and pull it open. Now standing in the doorway, he stepped into the room, but still didnt open his mouth. Instead, Arc tossed the handgun in Annas direction, hearing it land in her lap, and then a jerking sound telling him that she was still keeping her distance, even though her gun was returned. She never ceased to amaze him, always putting her experience to use, not taking any chances.
"Your a hard person to track down. First Russia, than Philly, and now Eastern Canada. Your constantly on the move, never in the same place longer than a day at most. Ive been following you for a long time now, but I never got too close. Well, I cant say that, that would be a lie. When I heard you joined the BSAA, I followed you in, still had my badge, so it was easy getting past the Las Vegas Security and into the BSAA West USA Branch. Nobody had any record of me as an agent, I told them my paperwork was back in the Raccoon City, they didnt care. Said they were short on bodys, so I volunteered. When the chopper took off, I shook your hand, but I didnt speak..."
The entire time, Arc hadnt moved, and didnt give Anna a chance to speak. He didnt know when she would realize who she was talking to, but by the end of the story, she would know for sure that it was him. "...After the bird went down, I jumped long before it even hit the ground. Still trying to find out what happened, but I guess it doesnt really matter anymore, nobody else survived the crash. Thankfully though, you made it out alive, and wandered into this place. Medical supplies, im guessing? Or did you get hooked on those pain killers? I still got a bottle left, not sure what youd find helpful in a mental institution." Taking out the bottle of heavy pain killers, Arc tossed the bottle toward Anna, expecting her to catch it now.

Anna listened to the very familiar voice when she'd holstered her sidearm beneath her arm. She'd listened to him tell his tale of following her every step of the way since she'd joined B.S.A.A. awhile back. Suddenly, as he spoke, the memories of every single time she'd been with a unit had flashed in her had until the most recent had ocurred when she'd shook a speechless soldier's hand. He'd then brought up pain killers and the sounds of rattling could be heard as she'd put her hand out, barely catching them.
A beam of light clicked on and shone over the ethnic soldier's face, he hadn't even flinched or squinted. Before long, the redhead had felt a rush of relief, seeing a good, ol' face was something well needed right now. She'd gotten up to her feet, placed the bottle down on the counter and hopped over it, moving toward him and hugging him, briefly.
"Damn man, you just don't know how good it is to see a friendly face. Er and creepy, you f*ckin' stalker!" she told him, chuckling. She'd let go and grinned widely up at him, before sighing and glancing back at the pills on the table.
"Good to know you still give a damn about yer friends, but pain killers ain't why I'm here," she explained, rubbing the back of her neck, nervously. She was definitely addicted to medicine but it wasn't pain killers. Besides, one wouldn't really call it an addiction if you need them, right? Or did she?
Pinching at the bridge of her nose, she'd coughed. "What's up? Is there something wrong? Are you in trouble? Ya know...sides your infected problem, I mean."

When Anna came closer to him, and put her arms around him, Arc felt a surge of shock into his chest. Whether or not it was Anna didnt make a difference, he never, ever liked people getting this close to him. It always made him uncomfortable, but he didnt let it be known. It was only a second or two, but in his mind, it seemed like forever before she let go. Trying to let the unsettling pass, he wiped off his blade, putting it back into his sheath. Unslinging the rifle from his back, Arc held it tightly, checking it over to make sure everything was working in its prime while Anna spoke. "I dont even know where to begin..."
After slinging the rifle onto his back, Arc stepped away from the center of the room, scanned the place for a candle or something. He didnt need a flashlight or anything, his eyes adjusted to the low light conditions since he entered the building. Trying to avoid the question altogether, he just set up the two remaining candles, lighting them for Anna so she could search the room without wasting her battery power. The smell of phosphorus entered his nostrils, instantly bring back memories, but he avoided them too. Arc had to start somewhere, what better place than here, what better time then now?
"Im not safe, and neither are you, or anybody ive come in contact with. No, not the virus, thats not what im talking about, what happened to me. Ever since I left the checkpoint..." Pausing mid sentence, Arc exhaled, keeping his thoughts away from anything less than the current situation, away from anymore memories that might surface. "...Ive been having this memories, dreams, while I sleep. That night I did sleep, I thought I was dreaming, but they were all just memories that had been destroyed from my mind. I dont know who, when, or even why I have no recollection of those events, but I was brainwashed by someone... I can see his face, a German scientist. Ive tried to track him down through the BSAA's network, but I couldnt find any trace of his existence. Hes been monitoring me somehow, and you, and the checkpoint, I know it."
Arc didnt expect Anna to believe it, but it wasnt like he could just make up all of this. Theres no way it was just a crazy dream, it was all too fresh. When he woke up, it was the feeling of dejavu, it was all real. "Theyre tracking me now, something inside me. Since the rapid healing would cover any scars, its impossible to tell where it is, but I know its somewhere under my skin. I know, sounds like im paranoid, but in this kind of situation, 'paranoid' doesnt even begin to describe it. Knowing somebody is constantly tracking your position at any given time... And not even knowing why." Arc could sense other people, living people, in the building. It was disturbing. Part of him felt they should explore, help them, but part of him just didnt want to get involved with anyone else. Anna, and a select few others, was the only person he really trusted, actually knew about his condition, and didnt think anything less of him. "I just wanted to be near you, to make sure you were okay. I dont know who were dealing with, or what theyre capable of. Maybe theyre products of the same virus that flows through my body, other like me. Who knows... I just needed to make sure you were safe. If there were others like me out there, the only way I could be sure that they werent going to kill you is by sticking with you, never letting you out of my sight. Sorry for not telling you sooner..."

Anna had taken the time to carefully register all the information Arc had provided about her being in danger right alsong side him. At first, her heart nearly plunged into her stomach. She was almost certain he was referring to Crowley but then he mentioned a German man, others like him, danger and the checkpoint. Of course the only thing that she thought about at that moment was Richard and Aryn's safety.
When he said he had to make sure she was safe and stick by her side, she'd grasped ahold of her head and averted her blank gaze at him to the shelves lining the wall, no reason in particular, just utter shock. She knew Crowley was hunting her but now she had to worry about some other lunatic? Or multiple other psychos? She'd stumbled back and plopped down in a chair nearby, indirectly.
There was a long stretch of silence as she'd tried to figure out what to say, what to think. Rich, Aryn...her parents and son, were in danger too. Now Arc is going through s*** and she was introuble with other people, it was too much.
Taking a deep breath, she'd exhaled and finally glanced up at the man.
"What are we going to do?" she asked, voice barely above a whisper. "We have to warn the others. I-I gotta go back for Richard and Aryn...my-my parents, my son. I can't lose anyone else, I can't. Dammit!" she hissed, raking her hands through her fringes.
"I don't know if you've noticed but there's been alot of Tricell assaults hitting checkpoints. Recently there's been an emergence of these..these beings that look human but are much more advanced, do you think maybe...they're connected? Maybe the German guy is Tricell? No..." she trailed off.
"You said the B.S.A.A. had no records, so maybe not.. she said, responding to her own question.

It was all just too much to soak up, Arc could tell just by Annas reaction. At first, he looked at her, not really sure what to say or how to react. But after a couple of minutes listening to her, and watching her, he was pretty sure the woman was going to have a panic attack. "If anything happens to your friend or family, I can assure you that ill finish this once and for all. Ill try harder, kill faster, whoever needs to die to make things right again. Im sorry for ever putting you in this position, Anna, and I promise im going to make things right..." Without even explaining himself, Arc opened up the door again, and then left the storage room. He paced down the hallway in a fast walk, the anger surging through his body. Everything was making him frenzy, and he didnt want to be near Anna when it happened.
"Put your hands where I can see them, and give me everything you own!" Stopping in place, Arc seen a skinny man with his shirt off holding a double barreled shotgun at close range through one of the doorways. Turning to face the man, who was obviously a raider, he could sense there were others in the building. Five, ten, it was too hard to even tell. Without even vocal response, Arc grabbed onto the barrel of the shotgun, seeing that the hammers werent even set back yet. Ripping it from the mans hands, he than pushed it into his teeth, knocking the whole bottom row out. The starving man fell into the hallway, laying on his back, and feeling his gums. With one arm, Arc flipped the shotgun around, pulled back both of the hammers, and pulled the trigger. But only two loud clicks, the gun didnt even have shells inside it.
In that moment, two other men had ran down the now almost sunlit hallway, holding baseball bats. One of them swung, striking Arc in the face. He stumbled backwards, feeling his vision blur as the frenzy now took over. Whatever happened next wasnt something he could control, and he knew that whenever he came to, he wouldnt remember any of it...
~~~
Opening his eyes, the beast inside leaped back up onto its feet, and caught the second strike from the melee weapon. Pushing it away with one arm, it grabbed the throat of the attacker, and raised him up, so his head was nearly touching the ceiling. As the bat fell to the ground, he threw the man down the hallway towards a woman, who had her gun drawn. She could go ahead and shot him all she wanted, it would would only make him more angry. The beast picked up the bat, but as it did, felt two strikes at his side from the second man. Standing in place, letting him strike him more and more until he was quickly out of breath, Arc struck him in the side of the head, breaking the skull in two pieces but leaving the head in tact. Turning around, he looked at the woman, and then started walking toward her.
The whole commotion had brought Anna back to reality when she'd heard a woman screaming for someone to back off. Arc was out there and the sounds of men cussing, screaming and some gunshots had urged her to grasp ahold of her sidearm and run for the door. She'd flung it open to see the various, mangled, corpses lying at Arc's feet as he'd approached the screaming woman.
The look on her blood stained face had been sheer terror, her arms and knees shook and wobbled as she'd backed up, gun drawn before her foot slipped on a corpse's hand, sending her onto her rear on the ground. She'd pulled the trigger but there were nothing but resounding clicks.
"Please...please let...let me go...I'I'll leave...I swear....I-I just want something to eat and a p-place to stay...." she stammered, eyes pouring tears.
Anna shook her head. "Arc, let her go, she's p*ssin' her pants," she told him. He continued to move closer, ignoring her. There was something different about him that Anna couldn't quite place her finger on. She would have grasped onto his shoulder to shake him, but her instincts had pleaded her to keep her distance. Something was off. Awfully off.
"Arc...?" she muttered before lifting her sidearm up. "Arc, calm down. This isn't like you. You're not a murderer..."
Stepping through the mess on the floor of the hallway, Arc walked toward the woman who had now been on the floor, helpless. The closer he got, the more she tried to crawl away, but it was a futile attempt. She heard the other woman, who was a BSAA agent, the both of them were. But she didnt care at this point, the man in front of her was angered for some reason, and she didnt know what else to do other than plea for her life. Arc had her pinned against the wall at this point, at the time Anna had begin to speak to him, trying to calm him down. Nothing mattered anymore, nothing but killing the people in this building, the bags of meat on the earth was polluted what was left with their begging for life. Raising up the bat, Arc than heard Anna speak again, and he directed his attention toward her, yelling out. "The world would be a better place..."
As his attention was on the other woman, the girl jumped up top her feet and made a dash for the exit door. Running through the hallway, almost slipping several times on the spilled blood, she screamed at the top of her lungs, trying to warn the rest of the people in the building. "Theyre killing everyone! Run! Everyone, run!" Arc looked back at Anna with demonic red eyes, and then gave chase to the woman. It didnt take long to catch up and tackle her to the ground. Tossing the bat aside, he pummeled her face with his bare hands, over and over again, until all vocal sounds ceased. Jerking his head up, Arc could sense the others in the building coming to the ground floor from the stairs, lots of them. Closing his eyes tightly and then reopening them, Arc was back in control, and looked down at the woman before him. Her face hadnt even existed anymore, and the blood on his hands clued in him. "Anna...!"
