Mickey gratefully took the pads and gloves and placed them on the proper parts of the body, but she was reluctant to take the money. What sort of example would she send towards Chelsea or her own brother if they ever saw each other again? She'd never taken anything without asking before. She even ignored pennies left on the sidewalk because it felt like stealing. However, she did decide to take it. The owners of the sport store were likely part of the walking dead, thus having no use for money so she took it with a smile and placed inside one of the pockets in her dress.
"We didn't have any troubles. It seems that the moans are either coming from a different part of the mall or other stores." she answered truthfully.
Mickey turned her eyes at the baseballs that both Kal and his dog had. What are you doing with the baseballs? her eyes asked, but she kept her mouth shut. It really wasn't important and Mickey was sure that they had a good idea of what they wanted to do with them.
Mickey did have one special request to make, "Do you think you can come with me to the baby store? She needs a diaper change and I could use some protection in case something is in there and I can't protect both of us."

Kal noticed that she had eyed the baseballs, and said, "These are just for Fangren, so he doesn't chew on anything infected. Also, I wouldn't mind standing guard." Kal walked to the baby store with Mickey and Chelsea, and, after checking inside, stood at the entrance with Fangren, who gladly chew on his baseball.
Fangren started sniffing, dropped his baseball, and growled. Kal could smell it too, knowing it was the smell of rotting flesh, and it was getting stronger. "Mick, you may wanna hurry up! The party is about to start!" Kal readied his pistol, and told Fangren to stay back.
[They'll be coming from the stores on the opposite side of the wall, and stores farther to the left. Some crawlers and fliers may come from above.]

Mickey took a quick look around the store as she walked inside. It was relatively clean compared to other stores. Not much was taken other than a few bags and strollers. The cash register was smashed open and all the money gone. Items were thrown onto the floors and shelves.
The changing table was cleaned off so Mickey placed Chelsea upon it and removed her diaper. A putrid smell quickly found it's way to her nose, which immediately wrinkled. "Oh my." Mickey said to the still crying child, "You've certainly been holding that in for a long time, huh?" The young woman ripped open a nearby package of diapers and opened up a box of wipes and baby powder. As quickly as she could, she replaced the stained diaper. As she held Chelsea in one hand, she carried the ruined diaper in between two fingers of her free hand and threw it into a trash can.
Chelsea continued crying until Mickey began to bounce her around a little and handed her a stuffed animal bunny. The cries were now replaced with giggles, which caused Mickey to smile. She found a proper carrier that could fit on a person's back or front. The body carrier seemed safer for a baby than a stroller. A stroller was harder to carry into hard-to-reach spaces and any creature could walk up to the stroller and harm Chelsea if Mickey was busy fighting.
Chelsea and the bunny sat on Mickey's back while Mickey picked up a small diaper bag and filled it with the opened packages she used previously to take care of Chelsea's diaper, empty bottles, a pack of baby formula, two pairs of extra clothes for Chelsea, and a fuzzy blue blanket. "Well, we're done here." Mickey said to the happy baby on her back.
Mickey picked her knife back up and walked over to where Kal stood. "I'm finished. Sorry for the wait."

"Not a problem," Kalonov lied, knowing that they were being swarmed. "We need to find some way of getting past these zombies. I have a feeling that there are more... creatures... above us, too." Kal saw that the zombies were starting to exit the stores.
"We may need to exit through the way we came. We didn't have a problem over there before." Kal looked, and was relieved to not see any zombies in that direction. He realized that the baby Mickey had was giggling, and didn't want to scare her.
"We need to leave. We won't survive long if we stay here."
[You can do the running for both of us, if you want. I don't want my character to stay back and get mauled.]

((OOC - Crazy as it sounds. I was wondering if there was room to join. RPing solo can be interesting, but groups are far more fun. ))

[Um, sure. Mickey, Chelsea, and Kal are surrounded by zombies, and I'm offering to run away. If you come in and want to group up, be prepared to get out quick.]

[Colleen Hawkes has entered Maple Tree Mall]
The roar of the bike's engine could be heard coming from the clear entrance for the young man and woman, followed by the sweep of the light that caught several of the zombies in front and on the upper stories in it's halo.
"So much for survivors..." Colleen growled to herself before turning the bike sideway, and noting the first time the pair as they were, and their dog, standing outside of a baby clothes and supply store, seeing the glint of the weapon in Kal's hand. Swearing to herself, she unlimbered the 556 off her hip, flicking on the laser-dot sight and taking aim towards the incoming group of zombies.
"HEY!" She yelled out for them to catch in the echo, drawing also the attention of some of the undead, "Outside is clear! Move it! MOVE! MOVE!"
Putting all her former military authority into that voice, she took aim, and a burst of fire knocked one zombie into a group of others, the now mangled one a tangling heap with the others as she look towards the next.
Once more her chopped down assault rifle chattered, sending another one spinning and falling from the second story onto a group of it's fellows, only to be attacked by the slow-thinking creatures...
'So much for the mission...' She thought to herself, 'I better get these kids out of here before they're eaten... or worse.'

Mickey nodded at Kal. "We're both ready to go." She tossed her ponytail much to the giggling baby's delight, "She's been really quiet all day. She only seems to cry if she is waken up by a zombie coming through a window unexpectedly or if she needs something." She gave the little explanation to rid him of any doubts or insecurities he might have about Chelsea.
Suddenly, she heard gunshots that weren't coming from the weapon in Kal's hands. Somebody else is here...
Zombies were dropping dead and for a moment, Mickey froze and tried to see if Chelsea was hit. She was fine, still giggling and playing with that stuffed animal bunny. When the woman shooting the zombies ran up barking orders, many thoughts ran through Mickey's head, the biggest wondering if she should follow the orders or not. While she thought, she stood still.

Kal saw that Mickey wasn't moving, but looked like she was pondering something. He noticed that Fangren's ears stiffened, and he looked up. He heard a faint scraping at the ceiling, or rather, the floor above them. 'The smell of zombies is gone, but I can smell something else, like there's some other creature here, getting closer.'
*Crack*
Kal looked up, just to see four sword-like objects jabbed through the ceiling, and he watched as they made a circular shape right above him and Mickey. Mickey was still deep in thought, and Kal knew she would have trouble listening. He grabbed her hand and Fangren's leash, and pulled them both out of the way just as the ceiling fell, with a strange creature on top.
It had six legs like swords, a thin armored body, and a strange head, also armored, with 3 red eyes and a small mouth. Kal aimed at it, shaking, and tried to think of a weak point.
"Mickey, we need to leave! I don't know if I could take this thing, even with miss general over there helping us!"

Colleen missed the comment 'general' comment or she might have barked something a bit more harsh back at Kalanov. Instead her fire paused for a moment as the beast-thing dropped from the ceiling. Grabbing the phone on the front of her shoulder-pack, she pressed the button to grab pictures three or four times so she could examine it later, and then held the chopped-down assault rifle in both hands, "There's a general store three blocks south of here... it looks like some barricades and other security were up around it. Can you both get there!"
Panting a bit harder she levelled the weapon once more, aiming for the head and the area around the neck of the sword-armed thing, and began once more to loose fire as she backpedalled to her bike, trying to keep the thing either penned in by the bullets, or at least annoyed enough to chase her and not the small family-unit she'd stumbled upon.
To Kal she said a bit more loudly to be heard over her stream of fire, "Hurry! Soon as this mag's empty that thing's going to be ****ed as hell and coming after me."

[I'm not sure if Esca would want me to drag her character anywhere without her permission, and the rules say that I can't. I think she may excuse me for pulling her away from the ceiling instead of killing her character, but that's probably it.]
Kal watched as Fangren dropped his baseball and ran full speed towards the beast. "Fangren, NO! Hold your fire!" Kal shouted as Fangren jumped at the beast's leg. He bit it, and it screeched in pain.
'Of course! The legs! I need to hit the legs,' thought Kal, quickly. He figured that the legs were designed to be bulletproof, but a close hit could more easily tear through. He drew out his pocket knife, and stabbed it into it's right hind leg, opposite Fangren. He slid it through, and watched as the leg went limp.
He tore at the right middle leg, and made the creature a 5-legged, just as it stabbed Kal in the arm. He dropped his knife and screamed in pain, and as the creature was about to bite him, he shot it in the mouth, apparently damaging part of the brain. 2 of it's other legs went limp, and it had a hard time moving. Kal pulled Fangren out, and stabbed his knife into one of the eyes, killing the beast.
"There's prob- probably more of th-those things here." Kal was having trouble speaking, and his vision was starting to blur. He pulled out his medi-wrap, and wrapped up his arm, knowing that it would take a lot of time to heal. "Mickey, and whats-your-name, we need to leave."

ooc: I don't mind if you do something like grab Mickey and pull her around a corner or out of the way of a charging monster. If Mickey is in the group and we're all planning on leaving at the same time, feel free to put down something like "Kal and Mickey have left Maple Tree Mall". However, you can't kill her.
Mickey gasped as she was pulled out of the way of the creature that fell from the ceiling. Mentally, she punched herself for not running when she should have. Because of what she didn't do, she put Chelsea's life at risk and she possibly even caused Kal to get injured by a monster she hadn't seen yet.
She ran over to Kal and placed one of his hands over her shoulders so he could lean on her without hurting Chelsea. She would have carried him, but she had too much in her hands and back to fully carry him to the general store, where her little medical skills could help him.
Mickey switched her head between Colleen and Kal and said as bravely as she could, "Let's get going. It's not safe here."

Kal grabbed Fangren's leash, and fixed his glasses, which had been bounced out of place. "Alright, come on, boy." When outside, he grabbed his bike, but he didn't get on because he didn't want to outride Mickey. "I just hope the woman in there will be okay, since there may be more stabbers in there."
Kalonov and Mickey are now at Von's General Store.

The SG 556's magazine finally clicked empty, the bolt clearing with a small *pop* as Colleen holstered it quickly and ran for her own bike, which was idling close by. Gunning the engine, she turned and smacked another of the strange creatures in the face with debris shooting from the squealing back tire, causing it to hiss and turn away, giving her the moment needed to make for the door.
A short hop over some more debris, and landing to wheelstomp a crawling zombie, the Harley road-bike sloughed back and forth a few more times before she finally shot out of the mall and off towards the general store she'd told the pair to fall back to.
[Colleen has left Maple Tree Mall and is now at Von's General Store.]
