Clarissa and other survivors within the checkpoint had listened helplessly as someone outside had met their demise. They could hear the wailing of others and the shouting from the angry. The young teen had glared and began inserting her point of view.
"You a**holes! Why won't you let anyone leave the city?! What're ya doing? Herding us in like that! That's f**king insane!" she griped.
Some of the men that were positioned near the doors had shoved her back. "Shut your yap, kid. Stop asking stupid, f**kin' questions and go eat your goddamn dinner!"
Clarissa growled and before long she kicked the same man in the jewels. Soon after, she was thrown out into the streets by some other soldiers. They told her not to show her face there again or she'd be mistaken for an infected too.
Raising her middle finger at them, she opened her trap again. "Bite me!"
"BEAT IT!" The soldier cried out, aiming his assault rifle at her to scare her off.

The checkpoint had taken up a couple of blocks, and scaled down a few streets, it was originally a fairly protected area. But in the next hour, it would turn into something written in a horror novel. His breath had finally run out, and Jesse hunched over on the sidewalk, trying to catch up with himself. There was surprisingly nobody on the street, but he could tell there had been people inside of the buildings from the lights that emit onto the sidewalks. Looking back at the scene that was a few blocks away, Jesse shook his head at the commotion. It was sad how quickly things can get out of hand.
Just then, there had been a verbal fight going on across the street. Peering across to see a young teenage girl mouthing off at one of the military looking men, Jesse pulled out his revolver and moved towards the both of them. Standing between the girl and the men, he spoke out in a hurried, but collected tone. "The checkpoint is being overrun down by the gate, hurry and go make sure it stays in check. Im responsible for the her, please, just go do what you can to help the others." Without giving much of second option, the soldiers had all quickly geared up and evacuated the tent to backup the others.
Jesse put his revolver back into his jacket, and then turned to look at the girl, who had a dirty look on her face from the other men. She definitely didnt look the type to be lost or helpless, but she was still only young. But seeing the handgun at her side, Jesse was sure that she knew how to handle herself. "Hey, you need to go back to your family, its not safe here anymore. Things are getting crazy at the gates, and theyll soon be coming this way.... Im trying to reach the highway on the outskirts of town, seems to be the best way out of here..."

Clarissa glanced between the jerkoff soldiers and the mild-mannered man before her as he pretty much saved her ass from being shot at. When the soldiers had left to deal with the others, the man had instructed her to go back to her family where it was safe. Frowning, she bit her lip and rubbed her neck a little.
"Ehhh, I would, but you see, my dad is dead and I don't have a mom...so...I'm kinda on my own. An orphan I guess you could say..." she began. Her shoulders slumped and she looked down at the broken cement roads.
"My dad just died over an hour and a half ago...he was all I had but he's gone now..."she started before looking back up at him with some slght relief. "Wait, can I go with you? I don't have anywhere else to be and I don't wanna be on my own. You seem nice and not hazardous to my health or well-being!"

With the girl telling her story, Jesse had been paying attention to both her and the crowds of people a couple blocks down the street. It wasnt very audible from back her, but it was obvious that panic had broken out. He felt sad for the girl, saying that she had no family to go to. 90% of the people alive today have no real family, but what sets her apart from the others is that she didnt look any older then 17 years old. It was in her best interest to follow along with him, regardless of whether or not her should be worrying about himself. She was only young, leaving her behind would be impossible for his better judgment to decide on.
The crowd of people were moving their way in a matter of minutes, so any choice made would have to be made soon or they would be lost in the waves of the civilian ocean. Noticing an allyway just on the other side of a short barrier, Jesse deemed it was the quickest way out of the checkpoint, but still staying off of the streets. "Oh course you can, just try to keep up with me, I only have one flashlight. Sorry, guess I never prepared for it to be like this." Flicking on the security torch, Jesse ran off the street and hurtled himself over the barrier with his arm, vaulting his feet over and onto the other side. The girl had no problems getting over, as she was much lighter then he was. But the ally was dark, so wherever they went, they would have to stick together. "Keep close, its nearly pitch black in here, and who knows when we might come across one of those infected."

Clarissa had breathed out, relieved as he looked passed her head at the crowds before switching glances down at her. He accepted her company, which was pretty lucky since most people dont want to be bothered with a teenager tagging along. Not like she was like any teen anyone ever really knew. She could use some guns and was good at using her environment to her advantage.
Either way, he agreed. When he mentioned only having one flashlight, she reached into her bag and pulled out her own. She'd gotten it from Jake a day or so ago before everything had went crazier.
"No worries," she began, hopping over the barriers and landing on her knee. She clenched her teeth with the impact before pushing herself up to her feet once more to join his side.
"My friend gave me one before he went away," she finished. Looking ahead at the darkened alley she frowned. Nothing good ever came from them in media or real life.
"Uh...eh...my name's Clarissa by the way. What's your name?

The darkness of the ally was taking up most of the maze like backstreets, as clouds blocked out all of the moonlight. Luckily they both had a flashlight, getting around wouldnt be as impossible now, especially if things had gotten rough. Jesse had his revolver up with his flashlight, aiming along with it wherever a danger could present himself. No doubt the girl, who had introduced herself as Clarissa was doing the same with hers, it was second nature now. Even though the second outbreak has just started up not a week ago fullblown, all of these things that were luxiory after 1998 had soft him up a lot. He would much rather be sitting in his apartment, working on his novel, but instead he chose to open the door...
Pushing open the door into the hallway, Jesse aimed his revolver through the dimply lit passage. Screams could be heard all outside in the streets from the window, the whole city was going into a state of panic. Turning to face the other way, he saw a woman standing there with her head down, leaning against the wall. "Hey, are you alright, Miss?" he spoke out, walking closer in a rush. The woman looked up at him, but didn't speak. When Jesse got close enough to see her face, she had a sad expression, and just sobbed against the wall, mumbling about her sister. "Lets get you inside, its not safe out here..."
Throwing off untidy sheets of his work onto the floor, Jesse lead the girl onto the couch in the living room, and lay her back against the rest. Going into the kitchen to grab a bottle of water from the fridge, there was a loud banging at the door. The girl screamed out, and Jesse instantly ran to the door, holding it tightly shut. Seeing the girl grab the coffee table, she pushed it at the doorway, blocking it off from anything getting inside for now. Looking at the girl, Jesse spoke out in a courageous tone. "We'll find your sister, I promise..."
"Clarissa... Thats a pretty name. Im Jesse, Jesse Farmwell. Im a writer, im sure you mightve read one of my boo-" Jesse paused, glancing back at who he was talking too. Clarissa was too young to have been around back then, and more then likely never even heard of him. "Hmm, right, nevermind, its not important. Whatever we were in our past lives is over with now, time to move on and forget it all. The only knowledge left is whats written on paper, or at least thats what I always hopes for. Heh, ironically enough, this would make a pretty good book." He pretty much just slapped himself across the face by trying to make that kind of joke in the middle of a dark ally, but it was the truth, and it was still on his mind. Maybe if they found someplace to rest for the night, get off the streets, he would be able to sit down and finish some of it.

Clarissa listened to the man's rantings about knowledge and stories. By his appearance and his interest in knowledge, she'd figured he was either a Librarian or a writer. Either way, he was kinda shakey. She illuminated the alley way just about a foot in reach with her flashlight. She'd moved it side to side, glancing at the dark walls and some dumpster with grafitti.
As the two walked further through, she finally broke some of the ackward silence that befell them little while ago.
"You use to be a writer, huh? I can tell by the way you talk. Eh, I wanted to be writer too. I submitted short stories to the Reader's Digest and won some cash . I could have even had a nice scholarship waiting for me with a piece about living with amnesia." she explained.
Pointing at her head, she sighed. "I have a slight case of amnesia. It's not so bad though. Just don't remember my real name or my real parents, but that was a long time ago when I was a kid. I was raised by an officer, who I called dad and...that's all I need to remember..."

"Amnesia? Thats not something that somebody your age should have experienced. But given the situation, seems like things have worked out for you. Your still alive, arent you? Should be planning on keeping it that way, nothing else really matters not, its just our future you have to think about." But really, this was a lie. Because it was Jesse who was deeply thinking about the girl he was with before any of this started, and how she was there for him whenever he had a slight case of writers block. She comforted him, eased his mind, mused his writing. However, most importantly, kept him happy. Now that was all gone, and the only thing he had left was this unfinished story, which didnt even have a plot yet. This was always on his mind, even when other things should have been.
"So your an orphan now, how unfortunate. Guess you could say the same for me, I have no friends or family left anymore. There was this one survivor I came across at the start of the outbreak, but I never was able to help her with her story. Or, problem, rather. We went our separate ways, and until the next chapter is written, who knows if we'll ever met again." It wasnt like life was based off of a novel he had written, but the realism of the situation was just as unique. People come and go just as characters do. The only thing about a book is your know it has an ending when you turn to the last page. This outbreak was just chapter one of a novel which might not even have an ending to it. Not unless we write one.
"Between the idea and the reality, between the motion and the act, falls the Shadow. For Thine is the Kingdom. Between the conception and the creation, Between the emotion and the response, falls the Shadow. Life is very long. Between the desire and the spasm, between the potency and the existence, between the essence and the descent, falls the Shadow. For Thine is the Kingdom. For Thine is, life is, for Thine is the. This is the way the world ends, this is the way the world ends. This is the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whimper..."

Clarissa had listened intently to Jesse's words especially after he the last two verses of a eerie and familiar poem. She'd heard it before in Advanced Literature. One of her extra carricular classes in the 10th grade. She'd grinned and acknowledged his quote.
"T.S. Elliot's 'Hallow Men', right?" she asked. It was a grim poem to have quoted especially since they were practically living in the land of the dead as of now. The world had been claimed for the monster's own. In some odd way, Jesse was right, this entire situation did seem like...
"Our situation is like a cheap paperback novel you find at a corner store," she said with a twang of humor. As the two shared a chuckle, they'd managed to realize they'd made it though the darkened alley, safe and well. Looking around at the new street, Clarissa had scanned the area for any threats. She mistakenly forgot to look up, however.
Scaling across the condemned building walls around them had been an infestation of what appeared to be large creatures with multiple, insect-like eyes and a snarling, smelly, sharp maul that hissed out. Their torsos were also that of multiple insects with two arms, two clawed feet and sharp pinsers potruding from where it's shoulder blades were on it's spiny, humped, back.
Three of them had began closing in on their unaware prey, two others climbing in and out of broken barricades of windows. Clarissa made out a slight chirp and shot a glance up at an angle but hadn't seen anything but a leg going through a window up above.
"What the...?" she muttered.
((They're those annoying things from RE3, those uh, Drain Deimos))

"What? What did you see?" Jesse hadnt caught anything in his own sight, but he knew enough to realize that Clarissa wasnt just hearing things. At first though, he assumed it was more of those four legged creatures with the long tongues, and prepared for the worst. His revolver had been already in his hands, aiming the flashlight around the awnings where they would most likely be climbing on. As the same time, both Jesse and Clarissa had been making their way down the street, but not at too loud of pace as to be caught by monsters hearing bubble.
The two of them kept quiet, stepping over debris that had been laid out along the road, creating impassable blockades for vehicles, thus restricting access to the checkpoint by vehicle. Keep along the road they were on, it would be taking them under the bridge, heading east along the side to the highway. What was going on in Jesses head was that maybe there would be a sewer to access, cut across the city, maybe even lead them into the river area just outside of Raccoon. But the thought depleted once there was a large scraping sound coming from above them, and Jesse had dove out of the way just in time to see a large insect like creature staring at him. "The hell is that?!" He spoke out loud, firing his gun off at it twice.

Clarissa watched as a massive thing had swooped down, nearly decapping Jesse had he not had dove aside. The impact it made had sent her hurtling downward onto the broken road. She smashed her elbow and tail bone into the concret, yelping a little when two others came leaping and crawling over barricades.
Jesse fired off two shots with his revolver, whereas, Clarissa's gun slipped out of her hands during the fall, sliding across the road and under a vehicle. She quickly crawled away and tried to get onto her feet when one of the creatures jumped infront of her, swinging it's limbs at her.
Swinging her head back so she laid completely flat, she barely avoided taking a clean cut. It stabbed at the young girl, darting at her with it's pincers. Meanwhile, Clarissa squirmed side to side, evading the blows and eventually rolled to her right, pushing her own self beneath a car to buy some time.
"Oh God! Oh God, oh God, oh God, where's my gun? Where's my friggin' gun?!" she cried aloud before glancing at the weapon ways away.
"Hold on Jesse! Gimme a minute now!"

The two bullets had hit the creatures side, and it screamed out in pain as they made impact. The hollowpoints in the gun did a great deal on their hard shell like skin, easily back them back away from Jesse, and giving him enough time to get back to his feet. But after seeing Clarissa stuck under the car with two other beasts trying to get at her, he didnt know what to do. Naturally, he would open fire on them, but his gun only held six rounds before he had to reload. Reloading was something that took a lot of time with a revolver, he didnt have any loose bullets in his pocket, so he could only make the four remaining count.
Running forward with a little too much courage, he gave the closest insect a kick, flipping it onto his back and watching it squirm away from the car. However, quickly as this happened, it came back at him with full force in an obvious ****ed off mood. Without drawing any blood, the creature kicked Jesse onto to the ground, tossing his jacket contents everywhere, including his remaining bullets. Rolling over onto his side to grab the shiny kitchen knife that did get very far, he brought it up as the insect lunged downwards. A bloody fluid poured onto his shirt, as Jesse jumped to his knees, stabbing the monster over and over again until it stopped moving. Clarissa was still in trouble, but safe under the car, at least.

Ahote sat on a old air-conditioning unit of a nearby building. Finishing his newest audio log, Collecting his thoughts and being high up gave him a full view of the city, He grunted at the misfortune that Umbrella's terminals in their old lab below raccoon where all busted. In the realization his one and only lead was a bust, It revealed nothing of his father, Or what happened. He was still dazed and shell shocked from his latest encounter.. with one of the most deadliest B.O.W..And Alyssa's near death experience, But that was over. She was safe now or at least Ahote thought closing his eyes, shutting out his optical sense to fully use ears. Threw the chaos of noises around the city. Searching the area for any signs of nearby survivors that were in need. If he was here, he was going to help others. Until something was made clear to him about how to go about finishing the last chapter in his story.
"God...This sucks.."Ahote's course voice shredded threw the air, like a woman's elongated nails on a chalkboard. "Maybe, an organization like Tricell...could help me,... in exchange for my services." Ahote echoed in his mind as a Far off double tap of revolver fire sounded. His eyes snapped open. spotting the muzzle flash in the distance, About three blocks away, or three roof tops in his point of view
"My works never done... oh well.Ahote muttered Lowering himself off the air conditioning unit and onto the roof. and Removed his bow and quickly assembled it, The process only taking a few moments. He worked his way quickly over the roof tops, Although he was supporting most of his weight on one leg, due to the fight with the grave digger, Ahote had splinted his ankle, Which was fractured, and was making his movement process slower than average. He neared the last roof, and a car was visible. nothing else besides a Drain Deimo or a drainer as popularly called by most militant groups, which was making movements toward the car. Ahote Stood Silently in the shadow of a billboard from another roof. He pulled a arrow from its pouch and lined it up with its target...
Ahote let it fly as quickly reached for his tomahawk. The bone handle matching perfectly To his hands, A spot worn down from over use. meeting a resting point as he closed his palm around it. removing it from his belt. and raising it to throwing position just as the arrow hit its target, Tearing threw its target like it was nothing, the creature whaled its pincher's and spotting ahotes shadow, pushed down on its hind legs, Ahote smiled as he let the tomahawk fly. The Flying Axe, made a horrible screeching sound, As if it was tearing the very particles from the air as the blade passed threw them. The Creature jumped and just it left the ground it fell back to earth, violently. the arrow that had pierced threw the body of it broke at the end as it twisted on the ground. Its nervous system still going threw its natural effects when a being dies from massive trauma to the brain, in a fight or flight situtation.
The Beast stopped its demonic twitching. and came to its final resting position. the tomahawk sticking out of the creature. The weapon it self was clean, not much bodily fluid was on what could be seen of the blade. Ahote sighed as he quietly studied the area for more Deimos.

Clarissa began crawling from the undercarriage of the car toward another ahead when some sort of arrow had struck through one of the monsters, ripping through it. Her eyes widened slightly before shaking her head and continuing her goal. She'd finally reached her handgun and when she did, another f**ker had pounced before her.
Laying on her side, she quickly took aim and shot off three bullet's into it's maul, temporarily stunning it. Seeing one creeping up on Jesse, she took another two shots, nailing it in it's torso and once in it's pincer. That only pushed it back a little.
"Behind ya, Jess!" she shouted, getting from under the car and running up to her friend's side. Before long, the teen looked up and around. "Did you see where the hell that arrow came from?"

Ripping the knife out from the large bug was no easy task without getting his hands sticky, but at this time, Jesse didnt care much about that. It was at this time he heard the arrow sling through the air, followed by the other weapon from the distance. He wasnt sure who was nearby, but wasnt interested once he saw another one of the creatures standing on top of the car. Clarissa had that one in her sights, so he moved onto the last.
Moving forward quickly after everything happened so fast, Jesse turned around and fired the last remaining bullets from his gun into the creature that was stumbling behind him. Hearing a few clicks from the empty gun, he drove it back into his jacket and then dodge out of the way from the counter attack. Landing onto his stomach, Jesse was now face towards the dead creature on the ground, and this grossed him out a little. Rolling back over onto his side, he got up, and then heard a few more shots from Clarissas gun. Looking at the arrow stuck in the body of the insect, he could only guess that it came from the rooftops. "Looks like it was shot from up there!"
The three of those monsters had been dead now, yet Jesse still thought as if he was in danger. Gathering up his flashlight from the ground, and flicked it off, and put it back into his jacket. One by one, he picked up the bullets that fell out of his pocket, and everytime he looked away, he would scan the area for anymore of those things. After gathering his things, Jesse started to load up his gun, slowely but surely. Ripping out the smaller axe from the corpse with both hands, he examined it. Seemed like something from a fantasy novel, rather than in a realtime situation like this, but it proved very effective. Still, he looked around the area, for signs of danger, a newcomer, and for his incomplete manuscript.
