It was obvious by this point that the group meant business, and were about survival, nothing less. Looking for supers was a bad idea, it always meant trouble, even with the ones you think you know and love. Joey of all people knew that, better then Madison would ever know. "If your going to be looking for answers, then youll need to track down Raine. Shes been like this for longer then I can remember, experience is the key. Thing is, I havent seen her in quite a long time. Used to come around, watch over me so I could get a decent nights rest every now and again, especially when the population of infected are up around the area. But its been a couple of months, and ive no clue where she is. Chasing yourself around in circles looking for answers, just so you know..."
In times like these, were there was no hope, only living to see another day, there wasnt a whole lot to look forward to. More pressing matters on his mind then solving the virus, that was for sure. But still, if he helped them, then maybe they could help him. "Ive wanted to leave here, search a few towns east for the global broadcast tower, see if I cant get in touch with an old friend. You run there and get in contact with a man named Halbred on the radio, tell him that favor he owes me needs to happen. Youll get your ride to wherever you need to go."
Madison was tired of running errands for people, and at this rate, it seemed that her personal goals were going to have to wait if she was going to get the answers. Still, something still puzzled her. "A chopper, right?" Joey nodded, and Madison continued. "Why not go yourself? A few days east and youll reach it no problem." It was a good question, and it had an answer. "Because if I wasnt here when she came back, id never forgive myself." To John, it would seem a little confusing for him to. So before he had to ask the question that was going through his head, Madison clarified things.
"Your daughter, right, right. You really think shes going to come back? I mean, seems a bit of a farcry to me, no offense. Shes only-" That when Joey stopped her and interjected with his own words. "-the last thing I have left. She can look after herself, and she will come back. Im sure of it. When she does, I need to be here. So you want that chopper or not?" Madison didnt know what Johns plan was, but hearing about the chopper was probably the best news hes heard in a long, long time. So before asking anymore question, she turned to him, then back to Joey, and spoke to the both of them, wanting to make sure everything was mutual.
"So, we spend the next few days traveling east, looking for the broadcast tower. Then we get the power running, and contact this Halbred guy, who has a chopper. Then what?" It was pretty obvious as this point, but she wanted to hear it from Joey. "Then you and your friend here have a ride. The answers your looking for will come when Raine comes back, ill tell her to find you. She can find that other super your with no problem." It was a good idea, honestly. Joey got in contact with one of the only helicopters left, and they got to use it for transportation. It was a win for everybody. "What do you think, John?"

John sat and listened as the two spoke about their plans. How they needed to do something for this guy to have him send someone their way to give them the info she was looking for. He thought it was a load of crap if he hadn't offered a helicopter ride. He weighed the options and decided that it was worth the shot. John still wondered where Damian was though, since it would should also be up to him. He thought he would bring this up.
"Well seeing as he offered us a helicopter ride, I feel it isn't a crock of s***. I wouldn't mind but we should always think that if the risk gets to much then the juice ain't worth the squeeze. But what about Damian? Shouldn't we ask his opinion?"

"He will find us, track down my scent when hes able to. Honestly, he follow me through four states before all of this. I thought he was gone, but really, he just stayed behind. Sometimes he needs the space to himself. Could be listening to us right now from the treeline, for all we know." Madison didnt want to scare either of them, but it was the truth. Joey knew what they were capable of, and having one around that wouldnt try to kill him was nice, it meant the forest would be clear of any infected, or humans for that matter.
If the plan was to get to this chopper, it would be best they left at night. Leaving now would be a bad idea. It was one thing following him here to his house, but navigating the woods at night without him woul be too much, even for those who know the woods. "The safety of daylight is always the best course of action, so you can decide in the morning. Got beds here. Stay the night. Should be thankful I didnt ask for your weapons, though. Normal circumstances id just take them. But you seem like good people." Madison was only here once before, and Joey was a good person. Regardless, it was good to have a place to sleep. Been too long since she had a good rest without getting up every few hours to cover a shift.
"I appreciate it, its been a long day. Thanks for letting us in, little lone stay the night. Well be on route to that radio tower first thing tomorrow." Standing up from the couch, Joey walked over to the hallway, and then opened up the door. Inside was a girls bedroom, based on the paint, and the artwork lining the walls. "You can sleep in here. And you..." he looked at John, nodding at the couch. "Hope its comfortable enough. Near the door, too. Have a feeling youd like it better. Now get some rest, ill be upstairs." With that, Joey left the room, and headed up to his own bedroom, leaving Madison and John to their own thing. "Do you wanna talk for a bit? Im not so tired just yet, actually."

John wasn't sure what to talk about so he simply started taking care of his rib. The knife did some damage, breaking his rib and bruising his abdomen and side pretty bad. John hoped she would start the conversation but the awkward silence made it impossible. He opened his mouth to speak but then realized he had nothing to say so he shut his mouth again.
Finally he figured out what to say. "Before today I had never met a super. Damian is the first I have ever seen and the fact they exist is mental. But Joey here? He is one also? Two in twenty four hours is completely nuts. How are you able to cope with this?" he rattled off his thoughts, not entirely holding back.

He wasnt up for telling stories, just wasnt in his nature. So naturally, Joey wasnt going to be much help unless there was some sort of physical drive. But while Madison and John were talking, it seemed like a good idea to tell him everything, bring him up to speed, especially if he was going to be risking his own life tomorrow. Sure, the plan was pretty mutual, a helicopter was worth it no matter no matter what, given it actually exsisted, and didnt have anymore strings attached. However, just knowing how trustworthy Joey was, this was a legitimate plan, no strings attached.
Madison responded to the question, feeling like this was exactly why she wanted to talk. "Ive known Damian now for years, and I know he wont hurt me, or anyone I dont want him to. I also know this because he hasnt in all the time I was with him. Its different, though. Every one of the enhanced people can be different. Thats what Joey said, anyways. I dont think he is superhuman, hes just spent half of his life around them, Though I wouldnt consider him a scientist, just somebody who grew attached to a certain one, like me. From knowing one, over the years hes seen plenty, able to track them and everything..."
Which gave Madison a bad feeling when she stuck around with Damian, because he knew something that she didnt, and maybe it would get her killed. Or worse, everybody around her. "...So I need to know everything I can, ya know? But thats his story. How I cope with it is easy, because ive only known one, and ive known him quite a long time. Its not the craziest thing ive heard, or seen for that matter. The walking dead pretty much takes the cake, and im not really scared of them anymore."

John took care of his wound as he listened to Madison. The bruising had actually been bad enough to bleed through the skin. He removed his shirt and used it to wipe away the blood. He sat on the couch and simply kept the shirt on his wound. Once she was finished he thought it was only appropriate to respond.
"Well Maddie, can I call you that?" He started and once he got his answer continued. "This world has turned into one hell of an awful place. It's a shame that you don't fear the scariest things that now roam this planet. Just a god awful shame that the world has turned into such a hell hole that nice girls like yaself have to fight monsters daily." He explained his feelings to his new travel buddy.
He held the shirt to his wound until the damned thing stopped blooding. Once it did, he started digging through his bag for some things and once he found them he pulled them out. He made a small pile, a candy bar, a first aid kit, and a clean shirt. He started with the first aid kit, opening it up taking out a gauze pad and some tape. He applied the gauze to his wound and taped it into place. He then put the stuff away and back into his bag. He also put his bloody shirt into his bag before he put on his clean one. It was a white t-shirt but the sleeves had been cut off. He then opened the candy bar and broke it in half and offered one half to Madison as he started eating the other half.

Nice girls like her, huh. That was certainly a different thought. Madison didnt really think there was anybody nice around alive anymore. They could be survivors, and cooperative with eachother, helpful even, but nice was something different. Shes killed people before, corrupted with blood on her hands. Whatever makes somebody 'nice' is a matter of perspective. "Maddie, sure." She liked the nickname, nobody really called her that since she was a child.
Wanting to say more, but never had the chance, there was a flame at the window. Quickly grabbing her pistol in case they were about to be raided, both Madison and John could see the flame. He was the first to respond though, and was a little confused, just as she was. It was gone in an instant, and then ignited again, flickering up and down. When she thought about it again, Madison shrugged herself off and went to the door, opening it up with her pistol hung at her side, not worried. "Come in, Damian, just keep it down."
She wasnt exactly sure how Joey would appreciate him in his house, but figured it would be fine so long as they stayed quiet and didnt cause any problems. "Whats wrong, is there any infected on their way? Did they follow us?" A quiet shake of his head indicated there was no problem, and the look on his face was possitive, but still puzzling. Seemed John didnt have the patience for a guessing game, but before either of them could guess again, Damian spoke out. "Chopper is on its way." At first, she wanted to ask how he even know about the plan, but then it was a bit more obvious. "You were listening to us before, and thats why you disappeared. You went ahead and contacted the pilots radio."
As if he had something to gain by this, a helicopter wasnt on top of his priorities list, especially since he could travel that far and fast without the need for one. But for Madison, he would do anything, and this could be seen by John for sure now. "I guess we should change our plans, umm. You first, where do you need to be?" It seemed like it all happened so fast. What was suppose to be a 2 day trip turned out to be a 2 hour talk and now their ride is on its way? Things were looking up, and it looked like they were one step closer. To what exactly was the question. Finding out more about the supers, helping out John, even checking out the status on the USA, how far the infection went. Questions would be answered as soon as the chopper arrived in the morning.

John had reacted quicker to the sight of the flame but he had always been on his toes, even if he was sitting on his butt. His crossbow was already ready when he grabbed it and headed for the door. He was ready for whatever was headed his way. He let out a sigh of relief when he saw that it was Damian and lowered his crossbow but the look on Damian's face made John wonder what he was up to. When he said that he had contacted the helicopter, John was instantly confused. They had literally just finished talking about it and the job was already done. Did Damian want to be rid of John, since the deal was that if he went with them and helped them with what ever they were doing next, they would go with him. If he didn't help then there was no deal.
This made John a bit angry and as Madison asked him where he was supposed to be going he was a bit unsure of how to handle the 100 thoughts running through his head. Should he be mad? Were they denying the deal? Was he to go off on his own to Georgia? He thought he would just ask. "I dunno Maddie. Is the deal still on? Seein' as I wasn't allowed to help since Damian here can do everything. Should I just let you two have the helicopter? I don't mind just takin' my bike and leavin'." He said as he looked the two over impatiently.
John made his way over to his bag and pulled out a jacket and his leather vest and put them both on. He slung the crossbow over his shoulder before he slung the bag over. In his frustration he hit himself in the ribs. "f**k. he gasped as pain surged through his body, the air left his lungs and he was forced to sit on the couch once again.

Even though Madison was asked the question, Damian was going to answer. "Well..." But as if she knew he would do it, the girl spoke first, making sure everyone was again on the same page, feeling a little irked by Johns wound. "No, your coming. Im not like those other survivors, im not just looking to survive this. If so, I wouldnt have bothered with Damian here in the first place. He can agree that I didnt need him, I got this far on my own, or with the groups I moved with. But letting you go off would be a waste of a perfectly good relationship. Your a skilled survivor, and had hate to lose you, or split up. We should stick together, and survive. Find others willing to strive that extra mile."
Things were pretty bad, and it didnt look to be getting any worse. Damian knew the status of the outbreak was unrepairable, at least not for another decade at least, and thats if people kept together and stuck out the threat. Madison knew this too, and wanted to make a group, has been searching around since this all started. You can lone wolf whatever you want, but the real survival is with a group who can cooperate. So far, it seemed Madison and John worked well together, and either of them seen what they were fully capable of yet. "What she said, I need you with her. Im staying behind."
Madison was shocked when Damian said he was staying, and instantly questioned him. "Why? After all this time, your just going to leave?" It wasnt like that though. He was the one that wanted the answers now, and he knew the man in this house had them. If he wasnt willing to leave, then Damian needed to stay and get them from him. If not from him, then from the ones he knew. Both Madison and John would end up getting killed if he stuck around started bringing more supers to the table. Besides, it was only a matter of time before he himself exploded out on the ones around him. Madison couldnt be there when it happened, even if she wanted to.
"I need to stay, and learn more. Not like im going anywhere, just staying here, in Raccoon City. Going to find out more about who I am, where I come from. If theres a way to control this, then I wanna find it. If not, well, least I can mutate here like the rest of the BOWs, take a bunch out with me. Say you do find yourselves a group, and I kill them, causes its who I am. Im not going to help, im going to kill, and feed. Thats just me. Controlling it is one thing, changing is another. I need answers, answers, answers." He can smell her scent in this house, she was here within the last few weeks, and Joey didnt even know it. She will be back, its too thick to just have been a quick visit. Damian wanted to be here when she came back.
This all was for the better. Madison knew that to, but didnt want to admit it. The truth hurt, but it was still the truth, and she would eventually accept it. Looking at John, she still wanted to know what his plan was. She wanted to go with him, make something useful of herself, if she was just going to be in the way here. "Well, lets sleep on it, decide in the morning."

John simply nodded his head as he gritted his teeth in pain. He had gotten comfortable once more before relaxing onto the couch. He slept sitting up, that way he would sleep lighter so nothing would have had a chance to get the jump on the even though Damian would have been aware of a threat long before he was. He sat on the couch facing the door, crossbow in hand, waking to the slightest noise. Most of the time it was just the lack of snoring or a sudden snore, the floor boards creaking slightly, or even the wind blowing a bit harder. He was used to the lack of sleep and keeping himself aware of his surroundings. Yet despite being up almost most of the night, nothing was wrong and nothing was endangering them. He could have slept soundly with Damian watching over but he wasn't going to allow himself to ever be teased with slipping into that habit.
The moment the sun could be seen, John started his morning routines. He changed his bandage, ate a can of food, did some workouts to keep in shape, drank a bottle of water, went through his gear to make sure everything was in check, refilled his water bottles, and checked his bike. Once he was done, others had started getting up. John was ready to talk now that he had calmed down. He was willing to discuss plans with Madison and Damian. He would be ready to leave whenever the helicopter arrived. Everything was back in order after sleeping on what had happened.

The guy mustve had something on his mind, because he left the house twice throughout the time the others slept, coming in and out through the cellar. Wasnt as if he was trying to sneak past them, there was something in the cellar, something that he took with him to the mountain top and back during the night. Damian watched him, followed him, and finally confronted him about it. But he didnt get any response, which was annoying. He didnt like being annoyed, and wanted answers, but Joey would give them until he passed on a message to the chopper pilot. He had all the time now, wasnt going anywhere, had no plans cept to stay and learn everything he could.
When the sun finally rose up, Damian could hear John wake up, and do his own thing, wasnt interesting. Madison slept well, so the days work could be done with a good nights rest on her. He knew the plan wasnt going to change, he was staying, they were going. Simple as that. As if to compliment his thinking, Damian could hear the rotors, and knew it was only a few minutes until the chopper was here.
The door upstairs had opened, and Joey stepped out, instantly going downstairs to check on John and Madison. She woke up when the door closed, and John seemed to have been up for some time now. "I talked to Damian last night. He seems to think its a good idea you two take that helicopter and get out of here. I agree. He and I need to sort some things out, your probably not interested in any of it, most likely wanna just forget you even knew about the supers." Madison could hear talking in the living room, and the other three were all having a conversation. "So I guess its decided then, huh?" The chopper chimed it after her, something Madison never heard in a long time. It was the last call to stay or leave.

John waited for Madison to wake up before he started talking about what his plans were. "Well my plans were to go to Georgia. I have to check on someone. The place should be secure and if not we will cut and run. The farm is self sufficient and would be a great place to bunker down for a while. If it has gone to hell, we can see if it is worth the risk to gather supplies. The farm literally had a basement full of canned and jarred foods, last I knew and if they are still the same then the basement is full still." He explained to Madison, Damian and Joey.
He turned his priorities to his bike. He had his gear in his bag, just gas and the bike remained on the bike. "Though what will I do with my bike? Will it be safe here? It is important to me and if something happens to it, it should be by my hands. Will it be safe here?" He asked Joey, who owned the house. He wasn't going to leave via helicopter if his bike wasn't going to be safe.

"It would be fine here, most definitely, but you can take it with you." When the chopper touched the ground, the rotors turned off, and the back opened up to reveal a ramp. Coming out of it though was a fairly nerdy looking man with glasses, but he spoke within military terms. "Didnt think id hear from you, glad to see your not MIA. No word from your lady friend, my guess is shes still in Raccoon somewhere. These the people im taking with me back across state?" It was back and forth with the two. "Yeah. She girl accompanied by radioman." He pointed to John, making it clear he was the one that that called for the chopper, even though he wasnt. It didnt matter, they had their ride. "I dont have any stops to make for the rest of the week, so wherever you two need to be, safe to say ill take you. Wont cost you anything, I owe Joey here so many favors I lost count, this is really the only safe place to refuel. Just get your bike in the back, use the ramp, there should be room near the back. You too, miss."
It was like seeing two old friend talk, Madison liked it. Damian was nowhere in sight now, which meant he mustbe been hiding. The chopper pilot was BSAA, or at least thats what she guessed by the rusted emblem. Meaning a goodbye was out of the question. But thats how things were, they got their ride, everybody seemed to come out with a handful of something. Madison went into of the chopper to John and his bike, helping clear things out of the way so he could get it in easier. She spoke out her thoughts to pass the time before they took off. "A farm, that sounds like a really, really good idea. Out in the middle of nowhere, much like here, only a wide open field. Could spend the evening picking off the zombies, practice my aim a little bit without worrying about a population. In the city, when the world went to hell, it was the worst place to be..." She liked looking on a positive note, things were looking up today.
Madison could see from the back the two men talking, and overheard the last thing he said before wishing them both luck. It was something about Joeys daughter, but she couldnt really tell what. Wasnt exactly her business, anyways. "If you ever need a place to stay, your always welcome back. You too, John, if things ever go sour and you have a ride, you have a place to rest your head here, even if im not around." John said his farewells, and then the ramp locked back up into place. The inside was pretty spacious, a lot bigger then the other helicopters she was in, especially during the evacuation time period. Inside was filled with crates, weapons and supplies it seemed. It was all military looking, the labels had different codes written on then.
The bird was up in the air a minute later, and the two went up into the front so they could tell the pilot where they were headed. Madison wanted to get to know him as well, she sort of just trusted the guy because Damian knew it was a good idea. But he really did look legit, from the BSAA, his head was screwed on straight. "You can call me Halbred, if your looking for a name. Joe said you two were heading South, shouldnt be anymore and a few hours at this speed." They were in the right direction then, which was good. Madison was a little nervous in the air, but she kept her cool and just let herself talk. "Im Madison. Thanks for doing this, I know we dont know eachother..." But Halbred quickly spoke back in response before she could say anymore. "Hey, its sort of my job. I suppose getting you to safety is my job, but that place varies day by day with the rising BOW threat. So long as we can land in a safe place, im the one who should be thanking you for letting me repay those favors back. Hah."

John was honestly surprised by the size of the helicopter. He thought it was going to be a simple helicopter with just enough room for bodies. "I honestly wasn't expecting that." He said as the helicopter's rotors came to a stop. Damian had disappeared without anyone realizing, except John saw it happen but decided to keep his attention to those around him. The pilot spoke to the group and Joey filled him in on everything that was going on. John and Madison wheeled his bike into the helicopter and took their seats.
John started to place everything back into the bags on his bike and placed his weapons where he normally kept them on his bike. This way he would be ready to get away from any walkers on his bike when they touched down. Once he was done he sat back down and enjoyed the ride. After some time he closed his eyes and took a nap. No point in staying awake just to sit there. This way he would be well rested once they touched down in Georgia. It would be only a matter of time before he was reunited with someone he hadn't seen in 17 years.

With the way things were, it would be a safe ride down south, that was for sure. Madison could finally get a view from the sky, and figure out exactly which places in the United States had been infected. She wasnt even sure where it started, nobody seemed to know, but the handful of towns they passed over gave her the chills. They were on fire, in ruins, too many people to save, that was for sure. The BSAA were set to combat the virus, but seeing how things are currently, they have quite a job cut out for them. Halbred mustve been able to read her mind, but just as they passed over a larger city, he spoke out, pointing to the panic below.
"I dont get nearly enough intel to track the origin of this mess, but judging by this city, its easy to tell that it hit before anybody could have a chance to prepare. As much as id love to just land down somewhere and round up as much people as I can, that would be suicide. You cant save everybody, so all I can do is hope the front lines of the BSAA will respond sooner rather than later." This was the scarier part of the outbreak, there just wasnt enough preparation. The President only just recently made the announcement of the BOWs, but it was already too late for most place. They all were so confident the BSAA would clean up before it spread to far out of control. But they were just too late.
"Georgia was safe, last I hear. Most of the South is just starting to show signs of the outbreak, and a lot of the BSAA is pressing in there. I can hear the chatter over the radio all the time, only good things. They seem to have a few states on lockdown, or at least major towns and cities. The countryside works out good for most people, its the best place you can be, besides up north. I think you guys are lucky to have caught me, you have a good chance of getting things prepared where your at. Just remember to be quick about it, because it could only be a week before things get too bad down there too." Halbred wasnt good with combat, but strategy always kept him alive when he planned out the missions. These two had a chance, and thats all that mattered when they touched their feet back down on the ground.
[Madison, John, and Halbred now leaving the area]
