Her aging, experienced eye darted back and forth from the shooters, the impact of the bullets, and to where Natalie had been moving. She needed to move more, she was staying in the same place too long. They might not have the best aim in the worst, but narrowing in was easy when there had been more than two with fully automatic weapons. The second the man with the shotgun had been out of ammo, Rey tossed the nearly lead-infused body in the direction, knocking him down. She made the move around the room, feeling the bullet whizzing by her, and some of them even skimming her shoulder and backside. But she was too quick, too small of a target for them to hit, and once she made it to the man with the empty shotgun, she rolled down to the floor. On level with him, he kicked in his teeth, grabbed the shotgun, and caving his head in. The remaining few attackers circled around to get a shot, but Rey was already up to her feet, and flanked them, smashing the now dented barrel of the gun across his face, and grabbing the rifle from his hands.
The final few rounds in the gun had been fired in the last remaining mans direction, but she had to stay low to avoid shots, and allowed the bullets she fired to land in his legs. Dropping the rifle, she walked toward the man, picking up his gun, and walking away from him. There was no way he was going to move now. Rey untied one of the survivors from the museum, and let him do the rest. Which was more than likely question him, not just kill him immediately, which was smart. But right now, Rey just walked around the room, putting rounds into the heads of the dead bodies laying about the first floor, so they wouldnt come back. It wasnt too important, but it was going to happen one way or another, best do it while they were monkeys in a box.
Thats when she noticed that Natalie hadnt been out of cover, but there was no more shooting. Certainly she knew this, but still hadnt been anywhere in sight. "Natalie, its all over, come on out." The response she got had been a little weak, and her combat high was still affecting her, along with all of the gunfire near her eatdrums, so if she was still somewhere inside the museum, she would have to show herself. Rey spun around, slowely, looking around the upper floor, anywhere she might be, waiting for signs.

Natalie heard the shots and screams die down. Some of the attackers may have still been alive, but she figured if Rey was calling out to her, then things must have gone their way. She tried to call out, but she felt weak, and her voice didn't carry far. With a shaking hand, she managed to unzip the front of her vest and put pressure on the wound, blood beginning to cover the bottom of her shirt.
"Here...here Rey..."
She slumped over sideways, keeping one hand tightly against her stomach while she brought herself into view. She wasn't sure if she could be heard, but she was doing her best to make sure she was seen.

Between the handful of survivors questioning the wounded roughneck and Natalie obviously trying to call out, Rey had a hard time figuring out where she was exactly, and why she was calling to her. Running around the slopes to reach the second floor, she pattered her way closer, leaving a trail of bloody footprints where she ran. Coming around the corner, she finally seen Natalie, who had been bleeding, looked to be from a gunshot to the stomach, or at the very best, her lower frontside. Rey knew something like this would happen, and more than likely, so did Natalie, but saving this people seemed to come first. In the end, it wasnt even about saving the people, as she was never expecting a thank you, she just wanted to know who and why. Now it didnt matter, this womans life did, but why did it matter?
"Vest did practically nothing. Lucky it had all those pockets, otherwise it would have been completely useless to you." Of all the things she could say, she picked that, the more practical thing. Rey beat around the problem, because both of them knew the problem, they didnt need to address the elephant in the room. Now Rey had a choice between just letting her die, or forcing herself to do some good at the cost of potentially infecting her. Both of them had serious outcomes, but only one of them resulted in not being alive anymore, so option two would have been more appealing. Without any warning on what she was actually going to do, Rey just spoke in a confident voice. "This is going to be more painful than it already is. Just saying, since were suppose to be honest."
There was two ways of doing this, but Rey acted quickly, because the more close to death the was, the worse it was going to be in the end. She climbed on top of the woman, pinning her down so she didnt thrash about and lifting up her shirt, then taking her knife, she drove it into Natalies stomach. Quickly as she did that, her other hand was placed over her neck before she could scream out in pain. Rey numbed her throat to point where all she could do was breath, no speak or make any audible sounds. This wasnt for anyones beifit but her own, because she didnt like anybody screaming in her ear. The blade twisted around, prying open wound, and once it was big enough, Rey stuck her fingers inside to fish out the bits of lead. It took only a about thiry seconds to get it all, and now came the risky part, as if what already happened wasnt bad enough.
Rey used the knife to slit her wrist, and watched as blood poured out, but it immediately stopped, and a clear liquid started to seep through the cut. Before the wound closed back over, Rey let it fall inside of the wound, and then looked at Natalie to see if she had been unconcious or not, which she wasnt yet, but possibly would be soon. Within seconds, the hole in her stomach had began to seal up with a gray, sickly dicoloration around it. The numbness in her throat would pass soon as Rey moved far enough away, and she climbed off of Natalie, stepping back. Much power as she had to taking lives, she had just as much power to save them. "If go unconsious, ill make sure you wake up. Dont worry."

Natalie felt...odd. First she was wanting to scream in agony from the knife in her stomach, then the probing fingers around her wound and the feel of something...cold. She has bucked and struggled under the other woman as she reacted to being stabbed, and then injured further. For a moment she had thought the woman had gone mad and decided to finish her off.
She couldn't feel her stomach, and her struggles against the stronger woman had gone weak when the chill spread through her body, making her feel numb and tired. As Rey spoke, the girl began to pass out, she wasn't sure from the blood loss or the cure that Rey had used on her. She simply felt her consciousness floating away as the woman spoke to her.

As the process came to an end, Rey had felt a little drained, but at the same time, happy. She was legitimately happy to have helped somebody, which was an emotion she hadnt felt in a very, very long time. It was never in her to be that kind of person, always just the one who survived, because she always knew how. Then everything that happened to her, she changed and adapted, and found her happiness in life. Then she was forced to leave it behind, because of who she was. Now, she was who she was, and still found somebody who had actually been saved by her instead of killed.
Natalie lay on the floor, blood all around her, but she was completely alive and breathing. Just fell unconcious, and from the amount of pain, followed by the natural numbing agents inside of her body at this point, she might be out for a few days at least. But she was alive, thats all that mattered, and Rey felt good about it. She had only did this twice before, but this was actually the first time she had performed her so called treatment on somebody who was going to die. Thinking about what the controlled virus inside of her body would be doing at this point was a little overwhelming to her, but Rey knew that by the time the woman woke up, it would be like nothing happened. Thats if everything went according to how it should have went, how it usually went, that was.
Still knelt down over the woman, she got closer, placing her hear as closely as she could to the womans neck, feeling for any sort of abrupt changes in her pulse. Rey could have just used her hand, but she could listen more when she was close than her sense of touch could ever do. Suddenly, two men from behind her called out, seeing the whole mess. The monster! Its over here, hurry! Rey stood up, and turned to face the two men, unaware that her eyes had been black. "What the f*ck? Shoot it now! Quickly! The man fired his rifle, hitting Rey in the chest. The powerful three oh three round blew a hole out of her backside, but quickly as it happened, it sealed back over, a large fleshy pocket dark skin bulging outwards. They werent going to listen to her, now she had no choice.
She just walked forward, as the drew back another round, bolting it into place. As she got closer, another bullet hit her in the shoulder, then another in her neck, same black pocket forming, but this time connecting to her shoulder. While the man was reloading, she drove the knife into his eye socket, ripping it out and grabbing the rifle from his hands. The other man had been paralized in fear, never seeing anything like this before. "I knew you, you were the merchant came here. I knew you werent normal." Pushing the rifle forward, Rey drove it into the mans chest, and kicked him off over the railing. She then turned to Natalie, who was laying on the ground.
The others in the building all seen what happened, but they didnt fight back. They were already looting the dead bodies of the raiders, and had loaded it back into a truck, driving away from the now overrun museum. The undead were piling in, focused on the bodies laying on the ground. Rey took her knife, reopening the wound on her arm, but immediately after doing so, a black spike formed. She dropepd the knife, and then started killing the infected. She had to make sure the place was safe, because there was no way she was in any state to carrying Natalie out of here like this. Her only concern was what she would say when she woke up if she seen her for what she really was. Maybe she should take her chances, and just leave. Saving a life was already good enough, Rey didnt want to ruin hers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Four Days Later ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Natalie had been laying on a makeshift bed in the back of the museum, cadles lighting the room. They had a generator, but it made noise, and that wasnt something anybody wanted at night time. Griffin looked at the woman, shaking his head. This was a bad situation Rey got herself into, and dragging somebody else into it was even worse. He understood why she killed the others, but there was a lot of dead bodies. They were disposed up, outside the wall, and probably got up and walked away by now. Where the wall had broken, one of the trucks was in its place, blocking it up nicely. All of the supplies in the museum was now sitting without anybody coming for it, the owners long since abandoned it when everything went down a few days ago.
She wanted to revert back, but it was something that took time. Griffin helped her, removing traces of the mutated body parts, and then letting them grow back to normal. The man knew exactly what he was doing, thankfully, it was just unnerving having him around when hed already caused her so much trouble before. "You dont have to stick around, im fine now. I can do the arm myself." It wasnt that he didnt have faith in her ability, it was that Griffin didnt want to leave until he was sure Reylene wasnt going to mutate again. He didnt care about the other woman, but Reylene did, so to preserve the experiment and keep her emotions semi-normal, he just went along with it. For the time being, anyways. Griffin could tell that she wanted him gone, however. He just kept to himself, watching Reylene dig away at her mutated arm with the knife.
A shifting sound filled the room, and the both of them turned to see what it was. Rey stood up, placing the knife onto the table, and walking toward the side of the room. Griffin remained standing against the wall, arms folded. He cracked his neck, almost grinning. This was going to be interesting. The woman was waking up, and Reylene still had her arm looking like a something from a horror movie. "Natalie? How do you feel?" Everything should be normal. Rey tried to stay standing sideways, angling her arm away from Natalie. It was going to be seen eventually, but she didnt want the first thing she seen when she woke up to be that. Instead, all she would see was half decent looking woman with an unusually pale complexion.
Natalie sat up, perching herself on her elbows as she did, half-expecting to be doubling over in pain from the wound in her stomach. When nothing happened, she pulled back the blanket and looked at her unblemished stomach. There wasn't even a trace of blood, but she chalked that up to Rey cleaning her before putting her in the bed. She didn't know where they were, but she assumed if they weren't at the museum, then they were at least close.
"What happened? After I passed out I mean. Did anyone make it out?"
She saw the man in the corner, not making any moves that she would consider threatening. His body language told her that he appeared to be almost bored with what was going on around him. She quickly pulled the blanket back up over her chest, feeling self-conscious and wishing her weapons were closer. She didn't think the man was a threat, but it would make her feel less exposed if she was able to defend herself.
She took the question as a sign that Natalie felt fine. If she didnt, she wouldnt have been talking the way she did, would have said something felt different. They were off to a good start. "You were shot, I helped you. Bunch of people dead, few got away though. You definitely helped these people, if thats what youre asking." It wasnt so much the people Rey cared about, but she knew Natalie did, and so her had some level of commitment to make sure they were safe. After killing two of their own, however, the best thing she could do to save the others would be to make herself look as scary threatening as possible so the others wouldnt try to kill her, and end up killing themselves.
Rey felt the puss begin to drip down, hitting the floor beside her. She knew that even through the candle light, Natalie would be able to see it, but most likely assume it was blood. Stepping away before she said anything, Rey turned to Griffin, and insisted. "You should leave now, go back to whatever it is you were doing." Griffin wasnt about to argue. "Sure thing, Briar." The name still didnt mean anything to her, which was sad, but Griffin just wanted to drop it one last time before pushing himself off of the wall, making direct eye-contact with the woman laying on the floor. "Dont **** this one off." With that, Griffin was gone. Where to, she had no idea, and really didnt care too much.
Taking care of the rest of her situation would have been easier with a second person, but being stubborn, Rey knew she could do it on her own. But now she had to do it in front of Natalie, because there was no was she was going to just let her walk away. Timing couldnt have been any worse. But the virus was slow, and the fleshy weapon on her arm needed to go. Rey figured she seen so much already, and decided that they could speed up the process along, if Natalie helped. A fireaxe sit against the wall where Griffin stood, thats what got her attention when he walked away. Stepping close, Rey picked it up, and then lay it in front of her friend, if thats what she could call her. "Knife wont cut it this time." Resting the mutated apendage up on the railing, Rey just looked at Natalie, waiting. "I can explain after, just come do this. Please?" Maybe the word 'please' would help, maybe it wouldnt. It usually did for other people.
Natalie examined the mutated arm as her brain tried to take in what Rey was asking her to do. The arm looked grotesque, but she didn't let it show on her face. She didn't want to scare the woman off after she had spent the past few days trying to bring her back to the safety of other people. Even if she was different, she felt that the woman could be saved, her humanity could be brought back. Besides, she didn't want to admit that she was more than a little attracted to the woman, even with her strange and dangerous abilities.
She got up, stretching her limbs before picking up the heavy axe. She was pantsless, clad only in her underwear and shirt. she stepped up to the malformed arm, and raised the axe above her head, aiming for the spot that would take the arm off as cleanly as possible.
"Just don't hold this against me okay?"
She swung the axe down, watching as it cleaved the arm off in one strike, and did her best not to vomit.
Time hadnt been on their side, and when Natalie stood up, Rye could see that she was stripped down to almost nothing. It was just the old methods showing, making sure her wound was completely clean, and seeing the amount of blood she was in when it happened, not to mention before hand, a new pair was more important. Rey was indifferent to the sight, really just wanting her arm gone, quickly as possible, but it did get her attention enough. Mixed with the fact Natalie had been so willing to cut it off made things much easier. Worst case, it would stay, and though she would be able to just use it like the weapon it was, she would prefer not. Her delivery method for death was a bow.
Soon as the axe came down, a shwing, followed by a slapping sound as the hunk of meat fell to the flood was the only sound they could hear aside from breathing. Losing a leg, and an arm, in the same few days like this? Definitely not a good start, but Rey didnt feel any urges, just normal pain. She didnt even remotely whince, or show signs that it had been agonizing, but she make an audible grunt as she breathed out. The sound was covered up by her grabbing the arm from the floor, and throwing it into a barrel that had already been on fire. It was being used to light up the hallway leading to the stairs. Sizzling, cracking, and all around unpleasent sounds filled the air, but it wasnt the focus of attention. She waited, staring at the empty space, darting her eyes back and forth between that and Natalie. "Spare clothes under the table over there. Even found another vest. Lucky you had one on, or you would have bled out before I got to you."
Not seconds after, Rey felt her head get dizzy for a moment, and knew it was about to happen. Her arm was already numb, and she could feel it, flexing her fingers that werent there. It was like a ghost pain, feeling something that wasnt there, but the more she tried, the better it would come out. Gray liquid poured out from her socket in place of blood. It had been runny enough to slowely fall downwards, but thick enough to keep from touching the ground. After about fifteen seconds, the gray mass built up enough, and became more solid, taking the shape of an arm. All the whole, Rey was still flexing her fingers, and soon as she was able to, she bent her new arm, then waved it around back and forth. Now the only part of her that wasnt human had been her feet, but she didnt care enough, they were unnoticiable unless somebody took time to.
The process had been completely in a minute, maybe two, and Rey had full control once again. Aside from the discoloration, which would change back in an hour or so, the arm was just as good as it was before, if not better. This wouldnt be the first, and definitely wont be the last it happened, but everytime it did, it was easier and more accurate. If only the Russian had been here to see how well she turned out. Thanks for that. You dont know how hard it would have been doing that on my own. I just didnt want Arc to know. Seeing Natalie with new clothes and hr gear, Rey looked her up and down for a moment, and the spoke again. "You dont feel any different? I can feel my virus running through you." Worst, her emotions would be a little haywire, but physically, the woman seemed normal. Natalie would have temporary ability to feel what Rey felt, but whether or not she would unless it was triggered was another question.
Natalie felt better than she had in months. She didn't know if she was like Rey now, but she wasn't about go jumping off rooftops and cutting off limbs to find out. She would have to find out more about her condition, and perhaps if it is something that had the ability to be controlled. Now that it was in her, was it something she was always going to have? So many questions, thankfully Rey might have answers.
"I feel...great. Like, someone just gave me a boost of energy. I don't know what you did, but it saved my life. You saved my life."
She stepped up to the other woman and kissed her on the lips, feeling a spark in her stomach when she did. It had been so long since she had kissed anyone, and it just felt like the right way to thank her.
She stepped back, blushing as she looked down at the floor, trying to think of what to do next.
"I..I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that. It just felt right."
There had definitely been something odd with Natalie, but what it was exactly she would have to wait and figure out. She had been talking with a lot more energy, and especially for somebody who slept for two days, or more. The lighting in the building hadnt been the greatest, but for where they were, Rey was close to see the woman well enough. Everyone was fine, and she even felt her heart beating relitively normal, taking what she said into consideration about being rejuvinated. But when Natalie stepped forward, Rey could sense that her heartbeat had been going up, slowely, but enough to notice there were signs of something about to happen, and it made her feel a little uneasy. Enough to have her reach for the knife at her side, and prepare in case she did something out of her control. That when Natalie kissed her, directly on the lips, which caught her offguard even more. But even moreso, it made her feel at ease, losing grip on her knife.
"It did? It felt right to you?" Rey questioned to herself whether Natalie had been attracted to the opposite sex like her, or if this was part of the process. Since she herself felt things for Madison, and Natalie reminded her of Madison, her emotions had gotten tangled up. They then reflected onto Natalie, which might have made her do that. Too much thinking, she wasnt a scientist, and really didnt care too much about how or why it happened, but it happened, regardless of the reason.
All she could do now was go with it, if she was going to know for sure or not. Now a little closer to Natalie, she started into her eyes, making direct eye contact, and Rey walked closer and closer, until she was once again about a foot from the other woman. Eye still keeping straight with her, Rey pulled out her knife, and slashed it across Natalies arm, but then held onto her so she wouldnt retaliate from the seemingly violent act. She just kept looking into her eyes much as she could, and then back down to wound, which bled normally. As she looked back into Natalies eyes, however, Rey held on tightly, and before she knew it, the cut had closed back over.
They both shared feelings now. Whatever Rey felt, Natalie would, and the other way around. Soon as the wound closed up, Rey let go, and walked back over to the table so she could gather up her things. She was out of here tonight. Natalie was all better, and even more so, but Rey didnt want anything more to do with her. It was bad enough she forced her own experiment on her, but if she stuck around, Rey would end up making things worse than they already were. "I need to leave."
Natalie had been startled by the attack, but as the wound closed, all she could do was stare at her arm and watch as it closed up like she had never been cut. There was some blood that dripped down, but nothing that would pose a threat to her. As the woman announced she was leaving, her head snapped back up and she grabbed the woman's arm, spinning her around to face her. The look in her eyes was fierce, something the other woman hadn't seen before.
"No! You saved me, made me like you! You're not just going to run off now! I won't let you!"
She let the woman's arm go, and then pressed herself against the woman, embracing her again. She didn't break the kiss like before, there was no shyness or uncertainty this time. She was going to let Rey make the next move. Let her decide where this went. She had never done anything so crazy before, but she didn't think she had anything to lose at this point.
Of all the people that stuck around here since the experiment, they had all been the same. They found ways of including themselves, forcing a mutual goal just so they could stick around. Most didnt care enough, and only stuck around because the odds of survival were better, but Natalie was different. Rey was convinced that putting the virus inside of the womans body was just making her feel obligated to stay with her, but theres no way it would possibly be this strong, she had something else to gain from it. Asking why was a stupid question, because she was just going to get a stupid response. Saving somebodies life didnt account for much these days, least not from her experience, but Natalie was persistant.
Grabbing her arm was the wrong move, but quickly as she did, she let go, thankfully. Rey felt herself start to get a little angry, but it wasnt Natalies fault, it was just how she was. But when she was close to her again, things heated up, and Rey knew that there was nothing she could say. So she was force to try another approach. Willingly, she didnt just let it happen, she actually put her arms around Natalie, hopefully telling her that she wanted this too. Which, deep down, she did, but knew it was still a bad decision. Moving down the womans cheek, Rey planted her lips on her neck, and felt her ease calm.
When that happen, she pushed up her knee, planting it into her stomach, and shoving her back to the floor. Then in that instant, Rey grabbed her bag, slung it over her shoulder, and walked away. Natalie had been saying something to her, maybe our of anger, or dissapointment, she really wasnt paying attention. But the moment she was about to round the corner, she felt a pulling in her chest. It was similer to that when she removed her leg. It would keep communicating with the virus inside of her body, forcing her either burn it, or put the virus back inside of her. With the virus now inside of Natalie, this complicated things.
Rey turned to face Natalie from across the room, and dropped the bag onto the floor. Now she had another choice to make, but this one was a little more perminant. She could kill the woman, and destroy the virus, or they could try to make it work, and keep on with the experiment. Because at this point, thats what it was. An experiment. Thankfully Griffin hadnt been here to see this, because he would probably be laughing. More importantly, he would want the experiment to keep going. It could have been worse, at least Natalie knew how to take care of herself.
Another note that Rey forgot to take into consideration was through the entire scene, Natalie would have been also sensing Reys emotions, and seeing how smart she was, would have gathered that Rey was in the middle of making a hard choice. "This is f*cking stupid... Okay, youre coming with me, you win." The only reason Natalie was saved was because she reminded Rey of her previous lover, but now that was an excuse, just an excuse. The pair needed eachother for biological reasons, which was frustrating, but it would be a change from being alone all the time. "But warn me if you feel the need to kiss me, please." Least she was honest in telling her she didnt hate it, in Reys own, special way.
Natalie wasn't sure how to respond to the body hit she had been given after kissing the woman, but she managed to keep from drawing her weapon, not wanting to escalate things further. Besides, she knew that the bullets would just be wasted. The woman could recover from the wounds easily. She wasn't sure if she would be able to do the same though.
When the woman changed her mind about leaving, she felt conflicted. Did the woman feel the same pull in her heart that was experiencing as she got farther away? Would they have to be close by from now on? She didn't have a problem with that, as long as she wasn't assaulted again. She really wasn't into being beaten up, although she knew men and women who were.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I just...feel the need to touch you, to kiss you. I'll try and stop myself next time, I promise."
She wasn't sure if she would be able to, but to prevent further injury to herself, she would make an effort.
Changing gears, she brushed herself off and got up. All of her gear had been gathered, and she was as ready to go as she was prepared to be.
"So, where do we go from here? Back to the community, or was there somewhere else you were thinking of?"
She was always a cold human being, less of one at this point. Rey didnt want to be around people, but she was willing to change her ways, even just a little bit. It didnt work out, and only ended up making things worse. but ironically enough, now she would have to get used to people. Or at least one person in particular. It was a good thing she didnt end up saving somebody else who was younger, inexperienced, or worse, somebody who talked a lot. Natalie was okay in her book, but this whole thing was still going to be a mark on her list of things that she would regret, sometime down the road. That, or have some sort of big payout, but who thought about glass half full scenarious anymore?
With the sachel slung around her back, and her compound bow on her shoulder, Rey looked away from Natalie, and continued out, knowing she was following her. When she asked where they had been going, however, she was surprised that Natalie didnt already have that in mind. Sure, they could go back to her community, introduce her to all sorts of people, maybe go on a nice formal date. Maybe they would even move in together, her camp seemed like a pretty nice place, but no, all of that was just a joke in her own mind. There was only one thing on her mind now, besides Natalie. Revenge. "Were going to kill the rest of them. Was going to do it yesterday, but Griffin insisted we stay with you. Now youre with me, so thats what were doing. Taking out the entire place, burning it to the ground with them inside." This would make Rey feel so much better, revenge always did. She wasnt sure if Natalie was going to be completely on board, but really hoped that she wasnt going to make it difficult. But she was too smart for that, and with the two of them in sync, it would make cooperation when in combat that much more effective.
