"I'm in, I'm in!" The old man drops the crowbar and nearly bumps his head as he dives in after. That dog runs up too, and jumps into the back of the cruiser with you both, slightly crowing. The cop shuts the door and enters the drivers seat and backs up away from the crowd being shot at ahead, and heads down various streets, avoiding other vehicles. Not all of the town had been affected yet. The dog steps on your leg and give one nasty wet lick to the side of your face, before turning around and moving its legs to the floor and resting its head on the old mans lap. "Honestly, I am not familiar with this dog." The old man gives you this not obligated to care for it look and shrugs his shoulders.
[In the image showing the road at the top, the crowd is approaching from the left direction, the cruiser was facing the crowd (facing left). The cop backed up and turned and drove to the right direction, off the map.]
You see a dark figure crawl around the side of a building and into a broken window. Its features were so distorted or unfamiliar you could not put it all together to comprehend what you just saw.

"Oh, thus place has gotten scary. Please tell me we're going to the police station. Please."
Ashley let one hand absently rub up and down the dog's back, her eyes glued to the destruction and panic outside. If the rest of the city was like this the police station would be the only safe haven for them. There was weapons, people trained to use them, and hopefully her parents. She didn't want to think about them not making it, about her arriving there and them not being there.
No, they'd be there. They had to be there. She wouldn't think of anything else. She'd fall apart if she did.
"Officer, how far away are we?"

You see the clock on the dashboard displaying 6:22 PM in green digits. The computer is on, with a spreadsheet looking grid and names.
Radio cracks up- "We are pulling back. Out of ammo !" "They have broken through the barricades !" "Block the streets to slow them down !" "Team three is not responding !" "All units, regroup at the Police Station." "I can't believe their gone." "Team seven is blocked off."
The dog tries to get closer to you while the old man itches his arms and legs. You see a mosquito casually land on the old mans neck and dig itself in. The man is starting to look pale, he doesn't even respond to the mosquito. There is something obviously wrong. The dog watches him with full attention, as if waiting for something familiar to happen. The old man startles the dog when he speaks up, "After we stop at the police station, take me to the hospital. I Don't feel so good."

"You look terrible. Maybe it was being down in the sewers for so long. The smell, what we were walking around in?"
Ashley held onto the dog, wrapping both arms around it and leaving the bat in her lap. She tried to tune out everything she was hearing over the radio. It sounded like the entire city was going to hell, and if they didn't get to the police station soon they might find themselves trapped in it.
"Hey, look at me. Tell me your name. Focus on me."
She remembered her mom treating someone in shock after a car accident. She wasn't sure if it would work now but it was worth the attempt. She felt bad that she didn't even know the man's name, and he looked like he was on the verge of either collapsing or dying.

"I don't know why but I feel itchy all over. It's like something is under my skin and it's getting worse." He does not appear to be dozing off or losing concentration, but he is not looking sound.
"Sarge- Excuse me." He clears his throat to talk. "I am Bill Thomas. And I am focused, dear."
The cop driving speaks up- "What's going on back there ? There is a makeshift refugee center at the police station and at the parking garage across the street. That is where I am taking you both. I have to get back to rounding up more refugees once I drop you off."
The radio crackles again. "Attention all units. We are dealing with some kind of infection. It is spreading. All we know so far is if anyone gets bitten or their skin gets scratched by the crazy infected, they get it son after. And the crazy ones don't go down easily. Neutralize them with head shots. Out."
The cop stops at a roadblock and talks to an officer for am moment. You don't make out what the other officer says, but he says something about strange creatures and domestic animals being infected. They look at the dog in the back, but agree it is ok. He drives past the roadblock, turns into a parking garage, and parks. "We're here. Officer Davis will escort you to everyone else." The cop smacks his neck. "Dang mosquito's." The old man gets out. The dog jumps out with him too.
The old man reassuringly declares "I am going to talk to paramedics. Your parents should be around here somewhere."
You are on the east side parking area of the police station. It looks to have been turned into a refugee camp. There is a police van and several police cars parked in the lot. There is a bus being moved to block the street (in the street). Several law enforcement personnel and civilians are building up barricades in the road. The streets are mostly clear. Across the street is another parking garage with the shudders open. There are vehicles inside and other civilians there contributing to the effort. It is also like a refugee camp, but like an extension to the police station parking lot. You still hear gunfire in the distance. A pair of UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters fly overhead. It is nearly dark out, and the street lights have gone on.

"Bill, go get seen. I'm going to go find my parents. I'll check on you later okay?"
Ashley motioned for the dog to follow her and started looking at all the people that were helping with the barricades or heading towards the makeshift hospital. She clutched the bat in her hands, remembering what she had heard on the radio. If someone gets infected, they go crazy, and only a bullet through the head will kill them. But what about bashing their heads in? If she hit them really hard with the bat, would it kill them?
She decided not to think about it any more as she looked through the crowd of people, needing to either find her parents, or decide where she wanted to help.

It was getting dark out. Gunshots started to lessen. Blue barricades were being moved around, forklifts were silently moving cars and other objects into places to block open areas. A police woman hands you a space blanket and a bottle of water, then quietly walks away. Her expression wore eyes numbed by whatever overwhelming terror she witnessed recently. All she seemed to have left was her kind gestures of helping others. A woman wearing a white Raccoon Sharks shirt and grey pants addresses you. "Hi. I am Kelly. Are you alone ?" She asks. "If you need a friend right now come talk to me. Ok ?"
There really was no true makeshift hospital. It was more like a cot and a few first aid kits, with a pair of paramedics and healthcare specialists. There were cases of water and food, but no one to be helped. Only Bill. "We need to get him to the hospital." One of the paramedics demands. The healthcare lady snaps back, "How do you suppose we do that ?" She looks at Bills arm, now exposed, showing the extent of the spreading bite. "And you say that was a mosquito bite ?" Another person in the crowd near them looks curiously. "You mean mosquito's are spreading it too !?" The young man panics, "I just smacked one on me !" He is freaking out. "Ok, ok." One of the paramedics waves his arms. "If anyone here wants to risk a ride to the hospital, come with me. This man needs medical attention anyway. So lets go. It is closer to the edge of town anyway, and I heard that helicopters have been landing on its roof. That might be one of the only chances of getting out of town."

Ashley listened, and thought that perhaps her parents may have ended up at the hospital. If they got hurt, maybe they would have been taken there rather than brought to the police station. There was only one way to find out. She would either have to go with the rest of the people trying to make the trek there, or find out if Kelly maybe knew if they had been brought here.
She decided to check with Kelly first, and if she was lucky she could find some clean clothes at the same time. She must have smelled like...well, a sewer. She whistled for the dog, waiting for him to come to her before she went to find the woman. After all of this she could check on Bill, at least making sure he got to the hospital alright.

The dog didn't leave form near you. He marks the tire of a police car. Kelly is sitting on the trunk of a police car with two small children. One looks to be around 6, the other maybe 8. Both are boys. They both appear to be teary eyed. It is dark out now. You see the lights of the city reflecting off of low clouds in patches, but blackness and stars peek once in a while. On the hood of another police car, men and police over look a map of the city, marking it with pen and stickers. Bill is still with the medical staff, they are wrapping his arm up.
You overhear one of the officers talking "We have lost contact with the outside world at some time earlier. I have only be able to call within city limits."

Ashley put a hand on the dog's head and put on a smile, trying hard not to freak out about the rioting, and sick people killing each other, and the face that her parents weren't around and if she couldn't find them she was going to end up dead like all those other people and-
She had to stop and take a breath, her vision swimming a little as she hyperventilated. No, she was going to be alright. She just needed to calm down. She couldn't panic. Kelly could help her, help her figure out what to do next. Find her parents, get some clean clothes, make sure Bill was alright. All of those were important right now.
"Kelly, um...do you know if there is any place that people were checking in? I don't know if my parents made it here, or if they could be at the hospital."

"If you don't see them here, they might be in the building somewhere." Kelly responds, showing a concerned expression. "Sweetie, where did you last see them ?"

"At the square. I lost them there. Bill and another man were going into the sewers, and they took me with them. Maybe they got hurt, and went to the hospital, or they might be out there still. Maybe they're hiding."
Ashley looked back at the RPD building, wondering if they were inside, maybe looking for her. It was possible. If they weren't there, she could go to the hospital with everyone else, and then she could check there. If they weren't there, she would either have to wait with everyone else until they managed to make it to the station, or go out looking for them. She wasn't sure if she was brave enough to go out and find them herself, but if they needed her she would do what she could to find them.
"Maybe they're inside. Do you know where everyone else is being kept?"

"Uh, I don't know. But maybe one of the cops know ? I hope they are safe." She sniffs, as if just noticing. "Were you in the sewer ?"
You hear a vehicle pull outside of the parking courtyard, along the street. It is the ambulance. The paramedic gets out and addresses the other paramedic and Bill, then walks back to the Ambulance with Bill. Bill looks around as if to find you, but does not see you. He looks concerned.

"I...yeah, Bill and I were. I should make sure he knows I'm okay."
Ashley went to Bill, checking the barricade to see if her parents were there. She gave Bill a smile, and helped him towards the ambulance. She could look for her parents in the station, and if she didn't find them she could try to get to the hospital. She was sure other people would be going to the hospital, and she could get a ride there.
"Hey, I haven't seen them yet. I have a few more places to check here, and then I'm going to the hospital. I'll check in when I get there, make sure you are alright."

"I will be at the hospital. I hope you find your parents. I am thankful we met." He is it hug constantly. The paramedic got to him to help him before you did. The other paramedic got in the back. Before they close the back he waves at you and winks, with a smile.
The dog walks off down the road, and disappears in an alley across the street. He does not respond if you call for him, as if his attention is on something else.
The ambulance drives off, with two police cars as escorts. You hear another child whine, asking if anyone seen her mommy. She couldn't be but 5 years old.
