Ashley watched the patrol cars leave, and then turned to the girl. Looks like she wasn't the only person that had made it to the police station without their family. If the girl couldn't find her parents outside, they may have been in the station. She looked a lot like the girl she babysat for on the weekends, and that made her decide to help her.
"Hey, you haven't found your parents out here? Have you looked inside yet? I was going to be looking for mine inside too."

She shrugs her shoulders. "The police didn't find her here. I want to go home. I want my mommy." She begins to cry. Kelly walks up. "She has been here since yesterday, along with other kids. Their nanny brought them here and asked for me to keep an eye on them. Some of the parents got them, but some didn't."
It is feeling late to you. As if bed time is approaching. You begin to feel sleepy, icky, sticky, smelly, and even slightly hungry, despite the smell. The doc does not return. Kelly walks the teary girl to the rest of the kids to comfort them.
You see two officers start walking toward the garage across the street.

"I hope they find hers."
Ashley realized she needed to find a place to sleep for the night, as well as a shower and clean clothes, or at least a place to clean hers. The police station was her best bet, and she headed towards the two officers at a slow jog, not wanting to come at them too fast and surprise them.
"Excuse me, officers? Do you know if there's a place I can maybe get a shower, and something that doesn't smell like a sewer to wear? Me and a few other people got here through the sewers."

The taller officer with a police hat responds. The other stops and waits. "Sorry, no shower here at the station that I'm aware of. Your best bet is the garage across the street. There is a restroom there. If you don't mind being wet, you can always use soap and water to clean up your clothes. You don't look that dirty above your knees. There are no clean clothes but there is a bunk area and some towels in the station. Would you like me to take you to the garage where the bathroom is ?"

"I could yeah, I don't feel very safe here."
At the mention of bunks, Ashley knew she was getting tired, both from the stress and the time of night. She still needed to check to see where her parents were, and it was possible they were bunking at the station with everyone else. A good clean up would do her some good, and then she could go looking for them.
"Are there a lot of people bunking there? I got separated from my parents earlier, and I haven't had the chance to check there yet. I know they weren't out here."

"What are your parents names ?" The other officer asks. "I can ask everyone inside while you use the restroom. And what is your name ?" He is not wearing a police hat, and is slightly shorter than the other officer. He also has a mustache. Both officers have brown hair. The taller one looks slightly younger while the shorter one has slight grey in his hair.

"Ashley Gerarro. My parents are Michael and Janice Gerarro. They were together when I last saw them, I know they would have made it here together, or maybe they're still out there."
Ashley took a deep breath, and looked back towards the barricades. If they weren't here, she would have to go back out and find them. She knew they would find a place to hide, and if she could get back to the square she might be able to find where they went.
"They might have gone to the hospital too. Is there any way to check there as well?"

"It is getting dangerous out there. If they are here, I will find them and bring them to the bunk area. If I can't find them, you still can sleep on one of the bunks." He begins walking down the basement garage.
"We had better get you to the restroom while it's safe." The other officer commented. "Anyone else need to use the restroom ?" he announces to the crowd. Three more walk up, two women and a man, and Kelly with the kids also walks up. "I think some of the kids need to go too." She says.
The officer leads the way. Talking to you, he asks, "What do your parents do for a living ?"

Ashely was glad for the escort, and for the other people coming along. She had hoped she would see her parents there, waiting in line to use the restrooms or trying to find out if one of the other officers had seen her.
"My dad works in an office not far from here. He does contracts for businesses. My mom is a nurse. I was thinking she might have gone back to the hospital to help."

"Well, the nurses in the parking lot are volunteers from Arklay. I don't know if they will know who your mom is. If we don't find your parents here, we might be able to contact officers at the hospital to see if they can find them there."
You and the crowd cross the street and take turn using the restroom. Do you wait till the others go first or do you use it first ?

Ashley stayed back, allowing the others to go first before she took her turn. She was not needing to use the restroom, merely just to get cleaned up. She really needed to think before she went back out looking for her parents. She silently prayed the officer was right and they were at the hospital, or possibly inside waiting for news from her. There could have been a lot of people inside the police station and surrounding buildings, all looking for missing relatives.
"Alright, I'll go and get cleaned up now. Didn't want to make anyone wait because of me."

09/25/98 20:07-to-21:08
The first person to enter was a woman. She screamed at the sight of a rat in the bathroom. The rat ran out. You wait until the others, including the children, are done. It takes a while, around 5 minutes per adult person, 8-to-10 per young child.
21:09 (your turn)
Outside the door you hear the others talking quietly. The sound of the light above hums low. It smells of moisture and slight scent of the waste from the others who used it before you. There is water on the floor and on the sink. The paint is white, or use to be white. It is flaking off, and exposes a tan color paint under. The mirror above the sink looks old and damaged by moisture, the ink is slightly cracked on the edge, and is dirty. There is still some toilet paper left on the roll and two unopened rolls up on a shelf near the sink. There is a plunger behind the toilet an a toilet scrubber. The ceiling is made of plastic ceiling tile, one of the tiles is suspiciously moved and slightly moved up and to the side. The atmosphere in the room is humid, yet cool. It feels cooler than normal since it is late at night and you are feeling tired. The hot water works, and if using the hot water the air feels even cooler, giving you the urge to shiver somewhat.
How long do you spend washing up ? (Your legs up to your knees are sewaged up bad. Your footwear has sewage in the soles, your socks, if any, are nasty).
[this is for any cold water coming out of the faucet] Do you have any cuts or scabs or open scabs anywhere that cold water touches ? Does any cold water get in your eyes or mouth ? Do you scratch your skin while using cold water ? Does any cold water get on your clothes ?
[Very important] You hear buzzing near by then see a mosquito land on the top of your ring finger knuckle, what do you do ? The sensation of a spec of sand hitting and sticking on your right ankle is felt and begins to move upward, what do you do ?

Ashley sighed as she took of her shoes, socks and pants, cleaning up as best she could and glad for the hot water. While she wrung out the pant legs in the sink she felt the mosquito on her hand, her eyes going wide as she could feel its small weight on her hand. She stayed still, and then slowly raised her hand over the other one. She didn't know if she could hit it before it bit her, so she stayed her hand.
Ashley didn't want to take her eyes away from the mosquito, but the sensation on her bare leg made her slowly turn her head to look down and see what it is on her leg. She could feel sweat beginning to form on her brow, and her breath quickened as she tried to control her fear. If she panicked and screamed, she would get bitten, then she'd get sick like all those other people, like Bill was.

Did she wash with cold water at all ?
Has she ever had cats or dogs living in the house with her that might have had flea problems in the past ? (It might help her know the fleas dig in immediately after they stop moving on the skin).
If she has ever camped before or been bitten by mosquitoes, she would know the mosquitoes don't waste time once they land. They dig in within seconds.
The character has seconds to react.

Ashley brought her hand down quickly on the mosquito, and checked her leg to see if there was a flea or tick on h body. She had gotten some in her skin before, and knew what it felt like. She had to get it out before returning it was going to bite her too. She didn't know if there was an illness spreading through all off the biting insects but she wasn't going to take any chances.
(Definitely not cold water. Wouldn't you want to use hit water to clean your socks, show and pants of the filth floating around in the sewer?)
