“We were moving toward what seemed to be the larger population center. We were moving along the big river until we reached a destroyed bridge and got separated. I followed the wolves that I helped to find my colleague inside the mountainside I guess you would call it and they were pushed further along the river or inland I would assume.”

The helicopter rolls sharp and then levels out. You see many rivers, many streams and small lakes and ponds. Then you see the ravine, a big ravine. It’s like the Grand Canyon but forested. At one end there is a large waterfall, which the canyon begins very deep, and it carves down along the main river deeper as far as can be seen, with smaller canyon ravines and valleys converging into the main canyons river, with their networks of rivers meeting.
2nd Lt. Marx: “Puff of smoke, port side, near oxbow lake. Placing coordinate point on GPS.” He taps on one of the screens in the cockpit. “Set.”
Captain Buck: “Roger.” The chopper rolls right. “Caston, the smoke is good walk from where we found you, you know of anything here ?”
You can intel check if you don’t remember.

You remember the aircrew you bumped into that is left in the hole. On the GPS (well, it’s not really a GPS, it’s a battle map interface of collected data from all personnel, which updates. The more personnel there is, the more accurate the data of positions and triangulation as well as range, which pin points locations). On your path there is a spot in this area showing you went down in elevation below the terrain. You could mention the dip in elevation as a place to go for a rescue. Theough, the puff of smoke looks to be by a clearing near a pond with lots of green plant like things in the surface.

I mention to them the Sergeant and other soldier we left in the hole as we near that area, and tell them the easiest way to get there from our current location.

The pilot circles around and tries an approach to the area.
Captain Grant: “Ok. This doesn’t look safe. Use the harness and hook. Set me a point on the map to hover over.”

I try to give him the best point of entry I can closest to the hide out we used. “I hope they’re still around.”

The pilot hovers over the location.
Roll Intel to put on harness and Dex to hook the cable. (If you feel you need to roll intel, otherwise if you already know then just roll Dex for the action).

You put the harness on and hook the cable. SSgt. Seawall hooks to a safety cord and helps you out. She pushes you out to dangle just outside the door, which has been removed for ease of use and reduced weight. You dangle over the wooded area. The chopper is facing to the N (009 degrees).

As you dangle and get lowered, you see a tag faintly showing up. It is your rifle from earlier. What’s interesting is it’s moving toward you from the 013 degree (0 being north). It slowly moves from about 313 meters range to 277 in the time you are dangling and lowering. However, you also see some trees shake aggressively behind where the rifle is. Nobody else in the chopper sees it but you.

“Something heading towards us from there, may be giants. Be ready for combat. Something also has my rifle and seems to be moving with whatever that is?” I say that to them as I’m rappelling.
