"Ya, thats not a hazard at all..." Daniel said with a smirk, looking at Rio with her face in the PDA. Protection from another only went so far. You needed to watch out for yourself and everyone around you, not the polar opposite. He didnt think that thing she was seemingly obbsessed over was going to do them any good, either.
"All right, stay tight. Confirmed hostiles around." Daniel said, his rifle shouldered and the optic on the front of his weapon went anywhere his eye went. The rifle was attached to his eyeline, his finger in a constant squeeze on the trigger. The small assult rifle weighed nothing in his hands, easy to manipulate to any position he needed.
"What was the last position of the life signs you picked up?" He asked Rio. It was the only reason they were stopped, so it made sense to do it and get back to the train.

Malcom aimed his rifle at the nearest building, scanning over the windows in case something burst out. Griffin sounded like he was taking care of himself.
"and while you're working that out Rio, any idea of local hostiles? Undead? Mutants? Militias?"
Still a ways out from the actual mission they intended, but there were more groups than Sincell willing to put rounds in them and strip the train for all it was worth.
"Let's just make this quick, should be leaving the humanitarian aid to FEMA."

"FEMA was shut down after they lost over half their employees in one sweep in a small town," Rio pointed out as she walked beside Riko. His eyes were doing the same as the others, and just continued to watch their surroundings. She sighed a bit as she pocketed her PDA. "The northwestern corner," she said as she pointed down another set buildings. "There is the main work house for staffing check in. A communication source of some kind should be there, and that's my best guess as to where people would be," she said as she.
"Were you able to get any Intel into what were up against?" Riko asked as he brought his weapon up. Firing several rounds and brining down a walker that stumbled out of a building.
"Namely walkers, and maybe licker's," she said as she looked to Riko. "Possibly hostile humans as well. If they have been here this long probably dangerous," she pointed out.

"Any human hostile's are dangerous." Daniel said, remembering stories of Russia against Germany in World War Two. Russians with sticks and rocks fought off German infantry for weeks at St. Petersberg. This was about the same situation. Odds were, if a human settlement was around, they would be outnumbered. That was all it took.
Daniel squeezed out a single round from his rifle, a powerful 6.5 round exiting the suppressed barrel and planting itself in a zombie's skull, destroying the back end in a spray of blood.
"We need to stay mobile, pick up the pace." He said, speeding up as much as he could without breaking out in a jog. "Hold your fire as long as you can, the noise will keep them on us." He said to the others, noting none of them had sound suppressors on their weapons. He always brought one, usually kept attached to the rifle. He used the tactical advantage of noise the way others used silence. Always silent, only loud when he wanted to be found.
He tightened his grip on the weapon, one hand on the pistol grip and trigger, the other holding the top of the magazine well and magazine to avoid using the pistol grip of the AG36 grenade launcher as a handgrip. In the heat of combat, when it was easy to get sloppy, a depress of the trigger at the wrong moment would make him and anyone in a 20 meter radius dead in a hurry. He aimed another skull up with the dot of his optical sight and squeezed off another single round, ending another unlife.
Daniel looked at their target building when it was pointed out. Didnt look more than 100 yards away. 100 yards through open terrain. 100 yards of ground that was perfect for an ambush. Tall buildings, side alleys or streets, nooks and crannies all over.
"Possible ambush sight up ahead." He pointed out, sweeping every area he could manage and still keep a lookout for walkers.

100 yards came and gone 100 yards more and they were back in tight spaces. Windows to the left, and windows to the right. These were more like pore excuses for office buildings. Storage buildings, freight buildings . . . buildings on top of buildings on top of buildings. Then more open area . . . a giant whole in the ground to the left, but nothing. As the creepy feeling Begin to wear on edge. There came more holes . . . almost like the ground was ripped right out from under them. Buildings caved in, giant cranes, but no one would know unless they took a closer look at the hook. Sand seemed to fill in around them making it soft like the Sahara Desert. It was creepy it was where . . . an were where the un dead. The walking flesh bags that should be piling on the new meal. The walking carnivores that Griffon had encountered back at the train.
The ground around them trembled as if there was an earthquake. The buildings around the shook as the glass shattered. Just a few feet to their left they watched as a building caved in on itself. A helpless scream echoed threw the building. An as they watched a man came running from the dust only to trip and fall on the ground. He dug at the ground his nails taring and leaving blood streaks behind as he screamed bloody murder as was pulled back into the dusty mess. When everything settled what was left was eight bloody claw marks in the cement, and a ruined building caved into a hole with sand surrounding it.
Rio and Riko looked back at each other before looking at Malcom and Daniel. "What the hell was that, Rio?" Riko asked as he ran up to the hole to get a closer look. "What the hell caused that? I've never seen a f**king creature do that? What they hell kind of bow was it?" he shouted almost demanding answers. "Rio?!" he shouted as he looked back at his sister. Nearly petrified as she stood there looking at the scene. "Rio?!" he shouted again and she still refused to move or even blink. Anger, fear, rage, hatred everything filling him making him feel helpless, and his sister just stood there. He had taught her better, he had taught her what happens to those who freeze. Maybe it was the soldier that kicked in, or maybe it was something else. Either way when he stomped up to her he rather harshly, and maybe more harder than he wanted to. He back handed her. "RIO!" he shouted.
Rio cried out as her hand went to her cheek, a more than obvious red mark where he had struck her. An more than evident tears streaming down her face. She looked up at her brother with worry and fear in her eyes. "I- I . . . I don't know," she stammered as she even took a hesitant step away from her brother. His eyes his motion . . . she had never seen him act this way before. It scared her, and the fact that he had struck her didn't help. "I- I'm . . . I'm s- sorry," she stuttered as she hung her head in shame.

Malcom started fuming when he saw Riko hit his sister, turning his rifle to the side he pinned Riko by the throat against the nearest wall. Pushing the rifle harder whilst gritting his teeth.
"Leave her alone!"
In his short term of mercenary work he had broken rules, but he always stuck with a few principles, never hurt women or children. His ex team didn't follow the same limits when they killed his wife and daughter though. Riko had crossed the line in Malcoms eyes now.
"Are you okay Alicia?" He caught himself too late. "Rio? How bad did he hurt you?"
Another mental slip, they came up during high stress moments like this, and he was forgetting all about the hostile territory they were in. He shook his head before letting Riko drop. Slinging his rifle over his shoulder he helped him to his feet, though held onto his arm for another moment.
"Don't ever do that again."

Daniel looked on at the display of horror going on in front of them, stoic on the outside and calculating on the inside. He hadnt ever seen anything like this, but it didnt mean he didnt know what to do. He knew of animals who burrowed in the ground, knew of sinkholes or quicksand that could swollow human beings like nothing, and then BOW's that burrowed in the ground. Nothing on this scale, but it wasnt a complete oddity to him.
He shouldered his rifle as he saw the whirlpool starting again, and then looked over his shoulder at the clusterf**k everyone was starting up. "Goddammit..." He muttered, switching his left hand from the magazine well to the pistol grip of the grenade launcher. "If your done playing grabass, we should go..." He said calmly, backing away slowly. The whirlpool started to move toward them and he fired the explosive round, landing dead center in the dirt and spraying a dust into the air.

Riko gathered himself as he looked at Malcom. "I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me," he said as he looked at the scene. Daniel's grenade seemed to stop the movement. Riko looked to Rio as he reached out for her, but she backed even further away. "Rio we need to go," he said as he raised his hand to grab her arm, and just he bare movement caused her to flinch. He looked at her before realizing what he had done. The way she moved, and the tears in her eyes. It was evident enough that she was scared of him. He made a huge mistake, and now it was interfering with their situation. He looked at Malcom before straightening up. "Rio we must go. Your not a fighter," he said as he walked up to her, and she practically backed into a wall. "Saying sorry would be pointless. No man should be forgiven for hitting a woman, or a sister," he said softly as he grabbed her arm. He watched her intently as she never even looked at him. "Ugh- I'm going to hear this when we get back," he mumbled.
"Please let go," Rio mumbled as Riko pulled her away from the wall. His grip tighter than he intended, and she knew that yet it was still hurting. "Please," she said as she flexed her hand in hopes of indicating he was hurting her. Her other hand gripping her messenger bag tightly. Then as Riko dragged her toward another area he felt safe, she felt the ground disappear beneath her feet. She cried out as her hand was practically ripped from Riko's hand and she fell into darkness. Not a sink hole, but rather what seemed to be a underground room. Or rather a built over building of some sort.
"Rio!" Riko shouted as he double backed toward the hole. He looked down into pitch blackness. Braking out a flare he broke the end causing it to lite up. Dropping it down it feel several feet, almost what seemed to be three stores onto what looked like a soft sand floor. "Rio!" he shouted again.
"I'm okay!" she shouted, before coughing a bit. She shifted so she could sit up and looked around before picking up the flare. "I can't see . . ." she paused as she hared something. Something shifting around the room. Something causing the sand to shift. "GET ME OUT OF HERE!!" she cried as she backed up into what was a broken wall. "RIKO!!" she screamed as she could hear the shifting louder than ever.

Griffon chuckled as he walked over the fallen bodies of the undead. "I needed that." He said to himself putting on his aviator sunglasses as the sun became unexposed from the clouds. It wasn't until he felt the tremors that he steadyd himself and looked around cautiously. When it stopped he began walking to the train. His walk turned into a jog and then a run as he grabbed his radio.
"What was that!? Hey, you guys all right?" He asked jumping back behind the engine. Starting it up he flipped on the main switch activating the computers and his radio. As he listened over the radio his eyes widened and sweat ran cold. He then started doing research in Rio's absence. He wasn't good but it was better than nothing. With a lump in his throat he began talking, hoarse at first but then grew commanding.
"Okay...okay I need you all back to the train....we're leaving." He then felt another tremor. "Im recieving a frequency, they'res a Sincell agent camped around here somewhere. We're on the grid. They're sending something called a burrower. Now I don't know what it is, I'm working on it but another tremor like that will send this rig off the tracks." He then blew the whistle three times. "Come on..." He then heard no responce. "GET BACK HERE! Does anyone read?" The computer then started spitting out results. "Sh*t...based on these tremors this creature is the size of a building and it's moving fast. It's a subterrainian Freak....uh....tough skin." Suddenly got a full readout.
"Okay, it's codename is....heh,...Tremor. It's kinda like...a sandworm. Like from Dune or those things in Beatlejuice." He then hit his head against the dash thinking. "From my moviegoing experience, the best way to take one of these out is a bomb down the throat. Keep me updated, this thing is ready and waiting over."

Daniel heard everything that Griffon told them over the radio, choosing not to respond. Time was running short. f**king great... Ya, the experience of film! That'd be sure to work! f**k! But, it had some merit to it. And he was always one to try blowing something up as a first option.
"Find a way to get her out of there!" He yelled out. He was pretty sure the thing hunted by sound waves. It was about the only way he could think of it hunting, being underground like it was. He ran away from the hole, his footsteps probably registering on the things sonar. If they werent, this would. Without even aiming, he fired a few shots into the dirt, the rounds dissapearing into the sand and going deep into the ground. It had to have felt that. He stopped in his tracks and waited, popping out the empty 40mm shell from his grenade lancher and tossing it in the area he had fired the shots. He slipped a new one in and slapped the side loading gate closed. He flipped the weapon to full auto fire, and waited. Each hand was on a trigger, waiting for the thing to rear its ugly face out so he could give it a nice surprise.

An unmistakable rumble beneith Daniel's feet would give away the creatures presence. Around him the ground seemed to give a bit. The buildings shook and quaked as the creature moved closer. Then without warning it pushed threw the ground aiming it's large head at Daniel. Yet this creature wasn't like the others. It travled by sound, by movement, but above ground or face to face it could see. the many tiny eyes dotting across it's head like a spider. Large thick tenticles emiting from it's side. It let out a horrible cry, and before Daniel could fire. It slammed it's full body weight into the ground below. The force alone seemed to act as a weight being dropped on a see-saw.
The ground beneith Daniel's feet seemed to fling upward causing Daniel to be thrown into the air. Hard and fast he pratically went sailing threw the air. Again his landing wasn't graceful either, nor was it set on solid ground. As he hit the ground, and rolled to a stop. There was another tremor one that caused the ground around him to crack and spliter until it gave way. Causing him to fall into the same hole that Rio had found herself in.
Riko and Malcom just stood there staring at the events unfold around them. As Daniel disappeared beneith the ground. His hole seemed to connect with the one that Rio had made. The ground weaking before it disappeared beneith their own feet. An Riko and Malcom found themselves falling as well. The sandy ground providing soft landing, but still hard and rough. Though Riko's head had hit a pice of the broke away ground. Rendering him unconcious.

"Son of a..."
Malcom staggered up as he hit the sand. Pulling his sword he aimed his rifle around by reflex, though there was little he could do with either until the thing came out again and showed some open weak points. He stepped up on a slab of rubble. Whilst the monster was still tunneling it was likely too risky to start climbing, in case they lost a member or another round of digging brought more of the terrain down on them.
"Off the sand, we can't let it follow the vibrations."
He put his weapons down to drag Riko up, then got back to aiming around for the Tremor, hopefully staying on the rubble would give them a bit more under protection than sand and gravel.
"Okay, battle plan, I'll go for the eyes and apendages when it comes up. Daniel, we need one of your explosives, preferable something that can survive a bit of chewing. Rio, try to wake your brother and then see if you can track this thing."
Hopefully this wouldn't degenerate into an argument over why Malcom was giving orders.

"The plastique will be fine but the detonator will get destroyed." Daniel said as he hopped up onto the rubble. He had grabbed Rio by the shoulder and guided her to the pile of rubble, helping her climb up before he hopped it himself, the height seemingly nothing to him. He was in near peak physical shape, and it showed. A 200 pound man who could do a standing backflip was a rarity, but Daniel could do just that.
"I dont think..." He said, stopping there. He slung his rifle over his shoulder and started to dig into his vest pockets. "Hold him off, I got something." He told Malcolm. He pulled out two charges, two full pounds of C4, and removed the detonators. Slipping them into a pocket, he ripped open the plastic covers and revealed the white putty that packed the punch to adomize steel given the right proportions. He then pulled out two 40mm fragmenation grenades, he ones he loaded into his underbarrel AG36 grenade launcher. Showing the ease in which C4 could be manipulated, he molded the two blocks together and into a ball, which he flattened against the ground. He tossed the grenades in the pile and folded the putty over them. Rolling it into a ball about the size of a softball, he showed it to Malcolm.
"The detonators wouldnt survive, and C4 doesnt blow without a trigger. So, the fire and shrapenal from the 40 mil's should do the trick. He'll chew on them and blow it. When that happens, instant decapitation." Daniel said. If it worked and the monster actually chewed, it would go down like that. He had enough force in this ball to blow the wall off a residential house and kill all the bad guys in the room the wall used to be connected to. The force contained in the monsters mouth would only have one place to go. Out. If it didnt chew... well, they could very well be its next meal by the time the things stomach acid did the job of blowing the charge.
"Get ready..."Daniel said, holding it in his left hand as he drew his Para Ordinance 1911 with his right. He'd lay down a bit of fire of his own, get its attention before he threw the charge. He didnt wanna toss it on the ground. This thing was smart. Figured his footsteps from the gunshots and found him when he hadnt moved. He doubted it would go for a small plop on the ground.

There was sand movement around the area of the gun fire, but the creature never surfaced. It just stayed hidden underground where it was soft, and he could go even further down to move without being noticed. An it did just that. All movement or evidence of the creature moving underground ceased. Just like it wasn't even there anymore. Then around them their little rock safety began to shake. Rio sat there practically right against the others trying her best to wake Riko. Finally she reached around to her messenger bag and set it on the rock. Pulling out a bottle of water she opened it up and pored it over Riko's face. "WHA!!!" he shouted as he stirred awake. It took him a moment before he sat up putting his hand to his head. "Ow," he mumbled before climbing to his feet.
Rio smiled as she looked up at her brother. His face seeming a bit lost as to what was going on, but after a minute he seemed to get the just about it. She climbed to her feet as she put her empty bottle back in the messenger bag. As she went to sling it around her shoulder, she was pulled off her feet. Rio cried out as she fell hard onto the concrete block, spitting up blood as she did. Her hands gripped at anything on the rock as she was being pulled back. "RIKO!" she screamed as her brother dropped his weapon's and reached for his sister. An as he reached her she was already practically halfway into the sand. "Riko!" she cried again as she clung to her brother, but she was quickly pulled from his arms.
"RIO!" he screamed as she disappeared beneath the sand. He jumped down into the ground digging around in the sand as if it would help him find his sister. "RIO!" he continued to scream as he tried his best to search for her. Another ground shattering tremor caused him to look up at the creature as it surfaced. It hand Rio in one of it's tentacles high above it's head, and she wasn't moving. "RIO!" he shouted again. It's tentacles seemed to flail about without regards as to who or what it had in them. It's mouth seeming to open as if it was about to take it's meal.

Daniel had done his best to keep his footing, being dropped to one knee as he foght the vibrations. And then, it was over. For a moment. He watched Rio be swallowed into the ground, watched Riko franticly search for her. And then, he watched the creature reveal itself in its almost unholy splendor. Huge, so much that he couldnt even begin to estimate how tall it was or how much it weighed. But, it had a big mouth. A huge mouth. And he could see the bulls-eye.
He reared his arm back, much like he had done so many times in his years of playing sports. Years and years of throwing a ball with pinpoint accuracy, always hitting the mark, seemed to have shaped him for this one moment. This one perfect throw...
And perfect it was. His arm shot forth, his hand released at the last second, the light ball sailed through the air, and into the open maw of the creature before them. He didnt stop to see if the creature tried the bait or if it swollowed it whole. He only knew that if Rio was still up there and the bomb detonated, she was dead too. Still holding his 1911, he aimed, and fired. A .45 ACP round tore into the tentical that held her, quickly followed by another. And another, and one more for good measure. The tentical broke loose, the monster dropping Rio to the ground roughly.
"Cover!" Daniel said, seeing the thing chewing on the bomb as it swollowed, dropping to the ground and covering his head with his hands.
