The worm wailed, lashing out with it's other tentacles towards Rio, still chewing on the bomb. Malcom tossed his rifle aside and dropped down near it, hacking away it's appendages as it struck out with them. When it reared back from the pain he picked Rio up, throwing her over his shoulder leaving him one hand to work with.
"Hold on kid, gonna get a little messy."
The beast recovered and started slithering towards the teams cover, still snapping at the explosive. Malcom continued baiting it and slicing it's limbs and eyes.
"Bring it ya sewer lizard, one of us is going to run out eventually."
The next bite it made caused a telltale cracking sound, a small plume of smoke started leaking from it's jaw.
"and I think we have a winner."
He dove to the side, shielding Rio, as the worm screeched upwards, a fireball bursting from it's mouth and around the neck. The carcass dropped after a second, dripping a foul smelling liquid from the stump, which didn't go well with the burning meat smell.
"Okay, nice work Dan, now do we leave before we find if this thing can bite with the other end?" He checked over Rio. "and can we get the medkit over here? She's unconcious, might have been the fall."

"Rio!" Riko cried as he jumped down from the cement block. He staggered a bit as he ran, before actually getting his footing in the sand. He stumbled over to Malcom and Rio. Putting his hands on her neck to make sure she had a pulse. "I- I can barley feel it," he cried. He wiped the sand from her face, and opened her mouth as he leaned down to listen to her. "She's not breath!" he cried as he looked around frantically. He tilted her head back, and blew into her mouth a couple of times yet nothing went in. "Rio!" he pleaded as he repositioned her head and gave her two more breaths. Still nothing went in. "She has sand in her throat or lungs," he mumbled. "Sorry," he said as he rolled her over with Malcom's help. He hit her twice on the back getting her to cough just slightly. He looked up at Malcom. "I know this wont bode well with you, but it will save her life," he said. He brought his hand back, and hit her one hard enough that he could actually feel her rib break. Rio gagged, and when Riko hit her a second time she cried out as she spit up a bit of blood.
Riko rolled Rio back onto her back and once more listened to her breathing. He sighed with relief when she was breathing . . . it was coming in wheezes followed by coughs that spit up blood, but she was breathing. There was a faint beeping sound, and Riko looked around. "Watch her," he said handing her back off to Malcom. He stumbled for the stone wall as if Daniel knew what he was after he threw the messenger back to Riko. Kneeling down he opened it up and pulled out the radio. "This is Riko, Mobile unite are you there?"
"Riko, this is command," one of the female voices hollered over the radio. "We've been trying to get a hold of you for the past thirty minutes. What's happening, and what was that explosion."
"Command, Just call it Daniel giving some friends a fair well gift. Where heading back to the unite. Have the medical team on standby," he called into the radio. He looked at Daniel and Malcom. "Time to head back. I hate to say it, but if anyone was alive at one point they aren't now. Not to mention I don't want to be six feet under just yet." He looked around a bit before seeing a building slanting up to the top. "There. Steep, but not to steep. We can use that to get back to the top." Throwing the messenger bag over his shoulder. He walked over to Malcom and nodded. "Put her on my back. I'll piggy back her to the train," he said. An with Malcom's help Rio was carefully placed on his back.

After the bomb exploded, Daniel had done what anyone who knew what a bomb did did. He stayed on the ground, covering his head, and counted to five. That was about the time it took for the debris big enough to kill someone to fall to the ground. If it fell on you when you stood, you were pretty f**ked. If it fell on you when you were prone, you were less f**ked, usually being able to be freed and moved to a medical facility. If you didnt die instantly.
His ears ringing from the massive blast and change in pressure in a relatively small area, small compared to the force of the blast, and silently thanked someone for the huge hole that led to the surface. He more watched people's mouths move and their body laungage than listened to them, seeing Rio be brought back from an early grave at the last minute, Riko report to the train and then finding a way out. He hadnt seen it himself, but to be fair he had been a bit busy. Trying to shake the cobwebs from his mind, he slipped the .45 pistol back into its holster and started climbing up the incline.
It was an easy climb, using a middle crawl, usually refered to as an army crawl, using the rubber coating on his elbow bads and the sides of the bottom of his boots for traction. When he reached the top, he stood and slipped his rifle around to his front, shouldering it and checking the area for any walkers. Strangely, there werent any. Not too odd, he considered, because of what else was hunting here. Maybe it had dragged down the whole lot of them. Hopefully.
"Clear." He said, his own voice sounding distant. The ringing had stopped, instead replaced with the dull ache of the after effects of the pressure buildup.

"Bower." Yes, I watch 24, and yes, that was the reason why I sometimes answer the cell with my last name. In reality I have at least half a foot on Keifer Sutherland and maybe fifty pounds.
"Jonas, the area is hot. I repeat, the area is hot." The voice at the other end of the line was Morris Jacobs, one of the people from Terra Save, except they handle the investigation side of things rather than UN relief supplies like I was. I was here because I volunteered to requssition food and building materials before they were shipped to Africa, in a bid to try and help out the survivors of the Uroboros outbreak that motherf**ker Wesker was responsible for. And his **** of a partner too, the f**king b*tch who ran Tricell.
"I know." Having been here for a month I'd tried everything I could to pull things together when the first signs of the outbreak occured, but things went bad at a rate I hadn't seen since working as a baker. "Couldn't get to a phone, had to wait until now before I could get to my hotel room."
"Anything you can tell me?" To be honest there wasn't much...between trying to help when it wouldn't have been suicide to and trying to stay alive hiding away, there was very little I could have done. The virus...whatever it was, seemed to be based on the T and G strains, the sounds of the infected gave off the first clues, however it was when I nearly s*** myself and ran from a giant spider...the virus apparently inhibits their ability to spin a web which would have helped in giving them away, that was the final piece of the puzzle. It was Raccoon City all over again, or something like it.
"I tried getting as many people as I could in hiding, but it was only hours before we would have been overwhelmed, I have no idea how they might be holding up." And because I wasn't even intending to sniff around about a possible outbreak I didn't have a weapon.
"We have to find a way to get them out. Do you know where you are?"
"Negative." Not being familiar with Chicago I didn't know my way around. "I just took off from a car park where I broke into this nice station wagon, tried to ride it out as best I could, before I found a nearby Vodafone store." The zombies were easy enough to bypass as I found a battery for my phone, and with the one exception that was all there was so far...which I guess meant I was lucky. "All I know is it's some type of food court, outside." Anyone that had been there had wandered off, in search of fresh victims I guess.
"We're going to try and send in a rescue team, can you find some way of locating where you are so we can pick you up?" I had already tried looking through the vehicle and had come across a map...for Seattle, guess the people were locals. It wast that point the phone sounded off saying the battery was low, given they're not charged beforehand.
"Maybe that phone store has a GPS I can use," I suggested, before a thought hit me. "Listen, I think the warehouses where the goods for Africa are stored is near here. I want to make sure they're safe."
"Negative," Morris told me, "negative, stay where you are and we'll find you." That idea didn't work for me, I couldn't just stand by, I had to do something, anything.
"Someone who owns one of the cars here might be nearby," I tried to reason, "and after reading that report from the African BSAA agent I want to do what I can, for their sake."
"Absolutely not," Morris ordered, before I heard in his voice a relenting tone. "I know what you want to do, I understand that you want to try and do the right..." and at that point the phone decided to give up and die. Biting back the urge to yell dammit, I looked at the screen, seeing that it indicated that no service was avalible.
So what now? I wondered. The only idea that made sense to me was to do what I should have done when the outbreak began...search for someone with keys then find the car they belonged to and find the warehouse district. From memory it was only a few minutes from here, then I could try returning Morris' call on the land line if it was still active, call in Terra Save and the UN. Get onto Claire Redfield herself if that's what it took, though I figured the BSAA and half of the armed forces in America would be on their way, if they weren't already, though there was no sign of anything resembling the military. And though I counted myself lucky so far, for not being infected on top of everything else, I had a sinking feeling that I would have to pry a set of car keys from some zombie, and after the previous incidents I read up on, that would only be the beginning.
"This is f**ked," I said, to be answered by silence. With a heavy heart I began my search.

Griffon groaned and his the mic against his head a few times. This was all his fault and they didnt even find any survivors or any useful materials. With closed eyes he got back on the mic. "Alright, we're ready to roll lets move on..." Suddenly there was a gunshot off in the distance which caused the glass to shatter in the controll room. "Sh*t!" He said crouching down. He then peaked over the edge of the shattered window to see a black shrouded figure on a tall building holding a rifle. A second shot rang out and he ducked again.
"We have a Freak sniping on top of the bank. Looks to be like a lurker. It's got me pinned down." Suddenly two bullet holes were punched through the siding. "Armor piercing bullets. I'll try to hold out but I could use some assistance." Looking around he spotted the chaingun in the next car. The only problem was that he would be exposed after the few yards of the flatbed behind the engien. After looking at the wall of levers he had an idea. Reaching out he pulled the coolant lever spraying the botom of the engine with water. This caused steam to shoot out from underneath the car soon rising giving him cover. With the steam hiding him he dashed for the turrent while two more shots rang out. He didn't even bother reaching for the door knob but simply crashed through almost breaking down the door. Once inside he took hold of the turret now safe behind the bullet proof glass windshild, aimed for the top of the bank and opened fire.
Before the first bullet even reached the lurker it dashed to the top of another building. Swerving the gun he fired off more rounds at the top of a repair shop. As the edge of the building crumbled due to the attack of the high caliber weapon the freak once again dashed to a new location with ease. Grabbing the headset he turned it on. "The lurkers now ontop of the church. We can't let it leave and give away our position."

Art looked up when the first fire was shot. She walked out of her office and looked to one of the operatives hiding under the desk. She turned and walked back into her office, and then into her bedroom. Soon enough coming out in almost full combat gear. She looked at the operative under the desk. "At least try to man the radio," she said as she walked out of the side of the train away from where the sniper was shooting. She lifted up her radio one of the few ear pieces they had. She switched it the private frequency that she knew only Griffon monitored. "Let me know where this baster's going. I am not going to allow it to shoot up my damn train," she growled into the mic. She quickly moved around the buildings, her eyes falling on the dusty crew they had sent out earlier. She stopped to look at them, before turning to Malcom and Daniel. "You two are with me. Riko get your sister back to the train," she ordered as she walked past them. She continued to walk, and waited to speak until she heard footsteps behind her.
"There is a sniper. One of Sincell's creatures trying to play tag with our conductor. I want it dead. Were each going to take the top of one building, and Griffon is going to lure this creature to us. No mistake or your dead. Either by this creature or by friendly fire," she maid a point to say. "An don't think for once that were going to stop and morn over your sorry ass. I have other things to deal with, and were taking to long as it is," she growled under her breath.
------------------------------
Riko had watched the trio wonder off, before he set himself into a jog up to the train. He maid a point to stay lower than normal remembering that Rio was on his back. She let a whistle out, and the medical team helped them up. Since the train didn't have a medical unite besides just the movable equipment they took Rio to her bedroom. Riko set her down and explained everything that happened. While they took care of his sister he set her things aside. Taking his weapon in hand he shuffled toward the front of the train. Keeping low until he seen Griffon. "The boss is out there with Malcom and Daniel. What do you need me to do?" he asked.

Soon after making it back to the train, the sniper attacked and Art was ready to drag them right back out. Seems the whole stop had been for nothing but an ambush, a wounded team member, risk of sincell getting intel on them and wasted ammo and resources. All the more reason to blow off steam taking it out as quick and violent as possible. Malcom grabbed an extra few mags for this purpose.
He exited from the opposite side of the train and moved around letting the gun turrets draw the attention. Once he got next to a small building near the tracks he crouched and aimed his AK at the church roof, catching the exposed part of the sniper in the sights.
"Okay, so how do we want to do this one? We taking the church roof or did you have another vantage point in mind?"

"We love you too, boss." Daniel said in a joking manner, after hearing her speech, particularly the part about how none of them would mourn over a passed teammate. "Beacon of hope for all of us, thats you." He said, pushing his luck so much he was afraid it would snap back and hit him in the face.
"I call the church." He said, looking up at the large building. Quick run up some stairs, a moment for the other two to get in position, it seemed like it would work pretty well. He pressed the magazine release button on the side of the well of his rifle and slipped the magazine into his vest. Those thing's wernt cheap or easy to find. Maybe he should go to something more common... hmm. Slipping a magazine into the now empty mag well, he put his hand back on the pistol grip and looked at Art for their battle plan. If she had one. She had a habit of slipping into the Rambo mindset sometimes, kill em' all and let god sort them out kind of thing. Rare, but he'd seen it.

"Just follow the bastered," she called out. She looked toward a large long werehouse building. She moved to the back to see an small tower reaching above it. She climbed it making her way to the top of the building. Looking it over before looking down the long building to see Daniel on one roof, and Malcom on another. "Listen up. That thing comes to you hured it toward the rest of us. Fall in behind and don't let it break off. I don't want this thing knowing we are coming. If it does our man inside that place is as good as dead," she explained.

Griffon started lining up his next shot. "Yeah, I'm going to hear about this when I reach the pearly gates." He then opened fire causing bits from the brick to fly as the freak jumped once more to another building. He then sighed as he heard Art talking over the radio, he then spotted Riko and thought for a moment. "First we should get Art to stop 'motivating' the team." He then lined up a new shot. Thinking it was time to give up he spotted the grenade launcher. He then smiled. "I've got a plan. We need to stop this thing in its tracks. Grab a bunch of the grenade projectiles and replace the explosive inside with tar from that tank over there. They always keep some on hand to cover track fractures. We can shoot tar onto the roof and if it jumps onto it it'll be stuck in place." He then though again. "At least....well I know it works in cartoons."

Malcom took a third building away from Daniel and Art, but still near the sniper so they were in a triangular perimeter around him and could effectivley cover each other whilst penning him in, at least 2 guns on him at all times whether he tried to run or attack another team member. Not to mention if he broke cover in the wrong direction he was open to everyone on the train to perforate him. On reaching the right floor Malcom kicked in the door to an office and threw the swivel chair out the window to get his shot off.
"Okay, I see him on the mini mart opposite the church. Taking my shot."
He fired a few rounds, pushing the creature back behind cover, several bursts at regular intervals kept him pinned down and drew all his attention.
"Okay, he's got his eyes on me, anyone else got a shot on him?"

Daniel laid on the top of one of the buildings, his rifle shouldered. He wasnt having trouble with the dot optic, being a short range sight with zero magnification. He could hit a one hole grouping at 100 yards open sighted in the right circumstances, and this was damn close to it.
"I got him." Daniel said as he saw the creature duck behind cover, its back to him. He lined up the shot for one last second, firing a single round. The round didnt drop much, but it did embed in the creatures lower back when he had aimed for its center mass. The high powered round didnt seem to be doing much, but the after effects would hurt it. Blood loss, pain, the whole shebang.
"Got him." He said, trying to line up another shot, abandoning it when the creature jumped away. "Lost him. He's going north-north east." He said.

Riko nodded as he wondered over to the grenade and started taking one of them apart before realizing something. "Man this wont work. Without the charge to detonate it the thing will just be a dude, and if we put the tar in on top of it there wont be enough," he pointed out as he set it back down on the ground. He stood up and walked to the machine gun and looked out the window. "My guess is to let those three handle it. If were lucky he'll head back this way, and we can finish him off for the glory," he said with a grin. He hared shuffling at the door, and turned back to Rio who was standing at it. "Rio you should be in bed," he said as he ran to her side. He helped her over to the chair and sat down.
"I have to talk to Griffon," she said as she sat her messenger bag on the table. Pulling out the computer she flipped it open. Flinching slightly as she put her hand on her side. "Ribs still hurting," she mumbled.
"An thats why you should be in bed."
Rio waved her hand. "Griffon," she said as she waved him over. She looked up at him with a grin. "The signal was true, and I'm guessing that the pore soul we found was one of the few survivors here." She shook her head as she flipped threw the screen. "I did find one other signal hidden with in it. Tracing it back it leads to the Death Valley labs. Even better. That creature out there is running off the signal. I bet if we can scramble that signal we can confuse it enough for them to take that creature out," she pointed out as she looked up at him. "What do you say?"

Griffon looked at the computer and frowned. "Block it. However you have to remember this is an 'independent unit' not a 'dependent unit'." He then notice that she was suprised he knew that. "I study some in my free time. The independent units are Sincell volunteers that willingly place themselves into freak bodies. They are able to think independently and have the ability of reason and problem solving. Lurkers can speak and understand us. They even still have their memories from their human lives." He then stood up and lead Rio to the resting area and sat her down and began looking over her injuries.
"If this was a dependant unit then cutting off the signal would confuse it. They have small emounts of intellect but mostly rely on commands. They are the poor abducted souls that the Sincell experiment on and put into 'lesser units.'" Remembering this he soon got on the radio. "Listen up people, this thing we're after is an intellegent Freak. It can understand what we're saying and might even have an earpiece listening in on our signal. Keep chatter at a minimum and don't give away your position."

As Griffon looked her over Rio continued to type on the computer. "You know I'm science not a computer freak. How did I get stuck with all the hacking?" she asked with a slight grin.
" 'Cuz for some reason your freaky ass knows how to hack," Riko pointed out.
"Gee thanks brother," she said as she fiddled with her computer. "Ah- there it's done. He's separated from the main lab. It probably will take him a couple of minutes to notice, but if your right this probably wont do much to him. Hopefully it will give the others enough time act though," she said as she looked at Griffon.
--------------------------------
Art looked around as the creature was shot she eyed it's movement. Keeping close as she watched it stagger slightly. It's ear twitching, and it's head turning. It stopped almost suddenly. Like something was wrong, but it was else where. Taking the moment she pulled out her guns, and in a wild fire began shooting at the creature. It made a scream as it jumped else where. "Griffon's right," she called over the radio. "It's got an earpieces. So think on your toes boys," she called over the radio. She walked up to the small pile of blood and knelt down. Sticking her gloved hand in it she brought it up, and rubbed it between her fingers. "Rio, are you listening?"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Blue stick and slimy blood."
"Ah- that's probably more plasma than blood. The creature is probably pumped so full of virus that it has mutated it's blood into a form of plasma. A way to keep it moving faster and longer since plasma can reproduce faster than blood."
"Meaning, that shooting this thing is probably just ****ing it off," she said as she looked up to the others. There came a looming shadow over her own which caused her to jump and roll out of the way as a large axe came crashing into the building top. Art climbed to her feet as the creature rushed her, and slammed his shoulder into her knocking her across the building.
