“A vacation.” Jason said simply when Adriana asked if he needed anything. He wondered if it was real concern in her voice, or a ploy. She was like Jonathon in nearly every way. The most cunning liar in the world if she needed to be. He wouldn’t put anything past either of them, but that didn’t mean he could judge the book by the cover. He preferred to keep an air of caution about, never taking anything at face value but never acting on his instinct. At least not right now.
“How long do you think she’ll be asleep?” He asked. The drugs given to her had to be strong. He estimated something like the dosage used to take down a rouge elephant. Probably kill a normal person. And even then, one hadn’t done the job. Two darts, both in spots ripe for spreading through the body in an instant. Fascinating, the power she had. Fascinating, and pitiable. No control, no reprieve. Almost sad, the way she lived…

Alex shifted on the sofa rolling onto her side like she was sleeping any normal time. It wasn't to much longer until she finally opened her eyes. She looked oddly around the room and at Jason and Ariana. It took her a moment to realize what was going on, or rather what had happened. Her confused eyes quickly turned sad as a few tears dropped from them. "I- I'm so sorry," she choked on her words. "I am so sorry for what ever I did. I didn't mean to hurt anyone," she cried.

Ariana looked over at Alex and could see she was confused on what just happened. Instead of bringing it all up again, she just decided to comfort her. ''It's alright, everybody's fine.... Just get some rest.'' Ariana rubbed Alex's shoulders and glanced at Jason who didn't seem to be paying attention. Ariana knew this would all happen again, but for now it was just the calm before the storm...

Jason’s eyebrows raised as he watched Alex toss and turn in her sleep and finally open her eyes. She looked around and apologized for what she had done, and he could only marvel at the fact that she was awake already. Apparently the darts wouldn’t do the job if they ever needed to put her out of commission for an extended period of time.
He stood up and moved out of the main room, into the kitchen. He never did get that glass of water, and right now it sounded good. He grabbed a glass from the cabinet and filled it from the tab, taking a small sip to test it. He didn’t taste anything wrong, and tipped the glass back, downing it all in a matter of seconds. He filled another glass and started drinking it down as well. When he set his glass down, he had drank four glasses. He felt much better.

--------------------------------------------------------- JASON AND ALEX ENTER * Plain trip and Car ride later* --------------------------------------------------------- Alex looked up at the building as they pulled up. It still remained to be one of the nicest condo's she had ever been in during her time with her father. Here though they had also stayed the longest, and when he was gone she would be kept up by other people trained to keep up with her. Still in the end none of it paid off. She sighed a bit as she climbed out of the car. Looking around to make sure it was safe. Last time she was here the streets were covered with undead, but now they seemed pretty much barin. Alex walked up to the door, and punched in the combination to unlock it. Unfortunatly it didn't work. She looked back to Jason, and then back to the door. "They must have changed the lock," she said lightly as she looked to him for answers.

“No, just the combination.” He said, looking at the lock. Exact same lock. Which meant the exact same manufacturer’s reset code. He punched in a few numbers, and the red and green light both lit up. He pressed the one key four times and then waited a moment for the two lights to dim again, pressed the one key four more times. The green light came on, and he turned the handle.
Opening the door and listening for a moment, he heard nothing and walked in. He would have heard something. If the people inside hadn’t been expecting anyone, they would have been scrambling to take up positions when the door opened unexpectedly. If they had been, they were expecting someone with the code. Meaning someone they knew, and if they had known the person coming they wouldn’t have been this quiet.
Walking through the small hall that led into the living room of the condo, he took a look around and set his briefcase down on the coffee table. No one had been here for a while, but they had repaired it since the last visit. No crack in the wall that had been made when Alex had thrown him across the room. No broken coffee table, no blood stains on the carpet. Clean…
“Go get what you need.” He said. They’d stay in town for the night, but not here. He was betting there would still be surveillance equipment or something of that nature in place.

Alex nodded lightly as she walked down the hall to her room. It was the same as always nothing had changed. The same draby medical equipment stashed away in the corner. No decorations of any kind. She sighed a bit as she closed the door behind her. She sighed a bit as she shuffled through her cloths. Picking out an outfit that would actually fit her unlike the kind that she was wearing. Changing cloths she packed a few more into a bag along with some medical supplies. She knew that the collar she had on provided her what she needed, but being that it came from Sincell she didn't want to take any precautions.
She made her way back out of the room, and back down to Jason. "Last time I remember being here was a long time ago, and I threw you into a wall," she said with a slight sigh. "Then again to think of it. I threw you into a lot of walls," she laughed slightly as she walked to the door and sat her bag down. "I gathered some of the medical supplies in my room. Though there out of date. So if it comes to using them I don't know how useful they are." She looked out the window before looking back to him. "You said you didn't want to stay here. Where did you want to stay?"

“There are many choices. Most buildings will be abandoned.” He said. The outbreak made sure of that. It made it the perfect place to hide. Anyone who came to look for them would still have to deal with the zombies and other monsters that owned the streets.
“There are several buildings we can use in the area.” He said, walking to the main entrance and hitting the elevator call button. It opened and he stepped inside, motioning her to follow him. They couldn’t stay here long, it could be watched easily, if Jonathon had a mind to.
They made it to the first floor and out to the car with little incident, a few gunshots through a suppressed weapon making the path clear. As they pulled out, Jason stopped a few blocks over to another equally tall building. Taking the time to pull into the garage this time, they took the elevator to the top floor and Jason took a look around. It, like many other places they would find, looked like the last inhabitants had left in a hurry.

She slowly followed Jason around the apartment as he made sure it was clear. She was a bit depressed to see the little girls room, and shut the door when Jason stepped out of it. Life was cruel, and it pained her a lot remember that some of it was because of her as well. She sighed a bit as she head back down the hall. She walked over to the window that over looked the city. Night came quickly, and she knew that day would come sooner. She sighed a bit as she leaned up against the wall as she looked out the window. "I still feel guilty that I praticipated in some of this."

“We all have things that we feel guilty over.” Jason said. He had a few regrets in his life. He didn’t dwell on them though. “I tell myself that sitting and feeling guilty won’t do anything to fix my mistakes.” He said. “Instead, I go out and do what I can to fix them.” He said. One of his regrets was being taken care of now. The regret that he had let Alex go with her father, even though he knew in the back of his mind Jonathon wasn’t going to do anything good for her.
“You didn’t do anything except get used by a man who should have had your best interests at heart.” He said. He was satisfied that the apartment was clear, so he went to the front room and took a seat in an arm chair and pulled out his gun. He set it on the arm and rested his hand over it, making it easy to grab and fire if someone should try to break into the room.
“You should get some sleep.” He said. It’d been a long day…

Alex smiled as she watched Jason move around the room, and the way he talked to her. It reminded her so much of her past, some of what she wanted to forget, but some of what she wanted to remember. He was one of those things from her past that she wanted to remember. At the begining he was someone she feared, but over time she grew to trust him. An now she trusted him to the point it was with her life. He may not act like a father, but to her he gave her more than her real father ever did. She nodded at his request about going to sleep. She wasn't going to argue over that one. She was sleep, and had been for quite some time. Taking a seat on the sofa she absently ran her fingers across her chocker before laying down. "You need to get you some sleep as well. I don't want anything happening to you." She smiled lightly before closing her eyes, and falling instantly.

“Nothings going to happen to me.” Jason said. He was rather sure of that. With a goal like the one he had in mind, one that he had put so much effort and time into, he wasn’t going to let anything get in the way of that.
He closed his eyes and let out a breath, quickly going to sleep. His hand was still on his gun, and he would be awake at the first sound. He had trained himself as such. They would only need to be here for a few hours. He could get what sleep he needed in four, and after that he could wake up Alex and she could get some more sleep in the car as he drove. There were only a few more places to check.

Alex's sleep was rather restless. It was almost like she could feel something ebbing at the back of her mind. Something that was telling her it was dangerous to be where they were even though it was safe. Jason had made sure it was safe for them, and she trusted him on that part. The loud roar that echoed from the outside and through the apartment woke her up. She looked around the room fearing that something had broken in, but the room was quite except for Jason who was already on his feet. Alex climbed off the sofa and moved over to the balcony. She knew the room was safe, and that was because Jason wasn't killing anything in the room.
Moving out onto the balcony she watched through the pitch blackness something moving. It was brighter than the sun, and it was moving fast. The closer it came the more she realized that it wasn't light, but fire. The creature looked like it came from the molten lava. She couldn't tell if it was an animal of some sort, or something else. It moved on all fours, and then two. It moved so fast that it weaved in an out of the buildings like it was nothing. The roar again echoed through the air, and she could feel the chill running down her spin.
Looking back to Jason as he walked onto the balcony. She realized something. "I can feel it," she said lightly. "I could feel it in my sleep . . ." she trailed off. Before she realized it Jason was pulling her down to the ground, and covered her head as the air around them became hotter by the second. A big ball of rock and lava struck the apartment above them melting into the wall. Alex looked up and then looked at Jason. "Neither of us will be able to get close to him for a long period of time." She stood up, and looked over the balcony. What ever the creature was it was moving up the side of the building with ease.
Alex looked back to Jason with a weak smile. "Figure something out. I'll buy you some time." Before Jason could even argue or stop her she was jumping over the railing of the balcony. As she fell she could feel the heat of the creature growing hotter by the moment. She struck it clear in the face knocking it from the building. Slowing her body down for a moment she flipped in the air allowing herself to hit the ground on her feet leaving a small crater where she landed. Alex didn't have much time to act as another lava ball was shot from the creatures mouth toward her. She managed to dodge the ball, but not the explosion of the car it hit.
Rolling on the ground she struggled to her feet. Alex took a look up at the apartment building they were sleeping in, and then took off up the street. She didn't have to glance back to see if the creature was following her. The heat alone told her it was right on her heals. The more she tried to run faster, the faster it got. It was a sufficating heat the more she ran, and then she realized it was because of this the creature was catching up. It wasn't getting faster, but she was getting slower. She felt the swipe of it's hand, and was thrown down the street before she realized it. The creature was on top of her, and she now realized it resembled a bear. She tried to crawl away, but it would in turn cut her path off. No matter wear she turned it blocked her movements.
Alex realized something rather slowly, and she believed it was because of the heat. Like bears seeking larger prays the would wound an animal, and leave them for the larger animals to attack. Except in this case the other would be coming to help. As Alex struggled to breath and stay awake she watched as the creature took up a hiding spot to wait. It wasn't after her, at least not yet. It was after Jason, and as she continued to struggle to stay awake. She realized she just lead him into a very deadly trap.

“Alex, don’t!” Jason yelled, but she was already gone. Going quiet and letting out a sigh, he moved to one of the cases they had brought up with them and popped it open. Pulling out the scope from his rifle, he moved to the balcony and spotted the pair, watched Alex try to fight it but having no luck. He watched it injure her and then walk away. Jason knew the tactic. It was something he had done before as well. Mainly through the scope of his rifle. Maim one man, make his friends come out to help him, kill them.
He couldn’t let her stay out there like that, but he would be walking into a trap. Well… It wasn’t a trap if you knew it was coming. It was just another obstacle. Taking some gear from the case, his own handguns, a few of the mines he used, as well as a shotgun and some extra shells, he tied off a rope to the pillar in the middle of the room and flung the rope over the edge. Letting the end go down the side of the building and touch the ground, he grabbed hold of it and climbed on top of the railing of the balcony. Sliding back, he began to repel down, his feet touching the ground in less than a minute.
Shouldering the weapon and tossing a few mines along the path, near cars to create shrapnel, he made it to Alex and pretended to keep his attention on her. He was fully aware of the creature’s position, fully aware of his surroundings.
“There is a rope hanging from the side of the building. Get back upstairs.” He said quietly, his grip tightening on the shotgun in his hands. Time for the creature to makes it’s move…

Alex shifted slightly to look up at Jason. She shifted to try and push herself up only to end up on the ground. "I- it's a trap," she gasped slightly. She shifted to get back up this time managing to get to her knees. Her body felt heavy, almost like she was wearing lead weights. The loud roar from the creature echoed through the streets. Alex shifted to look around the streets. A building crumbled behind them, and another shattered sending brick, glass, and iron all went flying around the place. Jason shoved her back down to the ground, and covered her as the debre showered down around them.
Another roar echoed through the air as the creature barrelled out of another bulding. It charged toward Jason and Alex, but Jason was able to move and pull Alex out of the way. Alex struggled to her feet with Jason's help. Looking at the creature as it made a large turn around the buildings. "It's fast," she said lightly. "But it can't make sharp turns." Leaning against Jason for a moment, before gathering enough strength to stand on her own. "Just that bit . . . I feel so drained. So hot, even from this distance," she said lightly.
