Allister stared at the girl in shocked horror. The instant he saw the embroidered patch on the front of her dress, he knew exactly who she was. Allister backed away from the group slightly, so they wouldn't see him cover his face with his shirt. He wasn't sure if it would do any good against the creature, but it was better then nothing. As Allister stared at the girl, he began to feel a bit guilty. Creature? She was nothing more then a small child. How could she possibly be harmful?
Allsiter closed his eyes and shook his head. He could feel the direction his mind was taking him. He looked around at the group and how they had gathered around the girl. They didn't appear worried. The scientist tried to force himself to relax slightly to remain inconspicuous, but it was difficult, knowing what he knew. Then a thought crossed his mind, that brought him more peace then it should have. 'In truth, unless threatened she is rather harmless. This could be an excellent opportunity for research. Perhaps this is more of a blessing then a curse after all.'
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Serenity stared up at the two men before her. She cocked her head to the side in question. They were looking at her as well. Perhaps they would have something for her; food, water, anything she could use. She only half listened as they spoke to her. The girl turned to the man who had addressed her. She took one step forward and extended both of her hands, cupping them together, as if waiting to receive something.
(OOC: I apologize for the wait. I began working in an IT department and it's a hectic schedule, with no one set location for work. I'll try to check in more frequently.)

The airman had quickly lowered his weapon when he realized the newcomer was just a little girl. If Nightshade had not intervened he may had shot and killed the child. He shook his head at the thought. Jake also seemed to have a nagging feeling at the back of his mind, almost dulled as he just barely noticed the scientist type recoil. It seemed odd to him, but that feeling seemed to dull as well.
He shook his head again as if trying to throw away an errant thought as the girl held out her hands, shortly after July said a name, a confused almost efforted expression on his face. As Nightshade moved towards the girl in response the airman wanted to question what such a small child would be doing on her own, but couldn't seem to see anything wrong with it after a second or two, and wanted to try and help the girl instead.
"Serenity?" The young airman asks to no one in particular as he takes note of the embroidering on the girl's dress.

Ethan felt a throbbing in his head as the girl got closer, something was off about her as she held her hands out, she only looked like she was asking for something but she might as well have spun her head, spewed green slime and started swearing up a storm and threatening to eat their souls.
It's just a little kid, you were going to be a father weren't you? Needs protecting, especially from that soldier waving his gun around, should probably snap his neck first chance you get.
He pushed the thoughts back as far as he could, he wasn't feeling too well all of a sudden. Maybe his wound from earlier wasn't cleaned properly. Looking back when July called out to the girl, at the same time noticing Allister backing off and trying not too look at the child.
"May? You know this kid? And you, what the hell is your problem all of a sudden? you'll scare her, she needs help."
Yeah, help from these two who came to rob a police station. Maybe they can take her on a trip to a drug den, play with the dirty needles
Ethan was quickly growing concerned with the darker thoughts about the group cropping up. He couldn't fathom what was causing them.

July felt like crying as she watched Serenity, but managed to somehow keep her sorrow hidden. She pulled out the locket around her thin neck, opened it up, and stared at the last picture that had May inside that she knew still existed. Aside from the eye color and age, Serenity and May looked very similar to each other. Even the way she silently begged for something was eerily similar to the way May acted before she was gone.
"May? You know this kid?"
July closed the locket and hid it behind her shirt. She shook her head and answered, "I don't know who she is, but she ain't May."

Allister glanced at the two men. He could tell by their expressions that they were turning hostile, an effect of the girl before them. He'd need to do something to diffuse the situation. The scientist allowed himself to relax a bit and took a step forward. While he moved cautiously forward, Allister removed his backpack and reached inside, grabbing an energy bar.
"She's probably hungry." Allister said to know one in particular. He removed the wrapping from one end of the bar and placed it into Serenity's hands. "Does anyone have any water or juice?"
--------------------------
Serenity stared at the item that had been placed in her hands. She wrapped her delicate fingers around it and brought it to her nose. It smelt like food, and therefore was most likely safe to eat. Bringing the bar to her lips, she took a small bite, and chewed it thoroughly. It tasted good so she took another bite. As she ate, Serenity stared looked past the men before her, and met eyes with the girl behind them. Meeting eyes, the small girl remembered something; a passing view of her own reflection. This was the first person that she had met that was similar to herself. She stepped between the men and came up directly in front of the other girl, cocking her head to the side in appraisal. She reached out her free hand, extending her delicate fingers to the face of the girl before her, and gently rested them there.

The young airman 's thoughts continued to feel dull as he took in what was happening around him, Nightshade's attitude, the scientist type's cautious movements, and the small girl moving to July. In the back of his mind he still had a nagging feeling something wasn't right, as if something was influencing him. He shook he head again before digging into his cargo pocket, pulling out a small bottle of water and tossing it to the scientist.
"Here I picked this up at a gas station not to long ago."

Ethan felt calmer when Allister and Jake handed over food and drink to the girl. Part of him said 'okay, you get to live...for now'. He mellowed out some more when the kid walked past them, like his head cleared when she wasn't looking directly at them. For now she seemed to be focusing on July, reaching out at her.
"Hey Jake." He muttered out the side of his mouth, trying not to let Allister hear. "You getting a freaky children of the corn vibe out of that kid?"
He spoke up to the group a second later. "It kinda looks like she recognises you."

"I ain't got nothing." July answered truthfully after food and drinks were given. She didn't bring any food from the drug store she last went to and it had already been a few hours since she had put any type of food or drink inside her body. Soon her small stomach would cry for some sort of nourishment, but she could easily go to one of the snack machines and take something without the help of others. Her attention went back to Serenity.
The hand that came onto July's face felt like she hadn't felt in a long time. She wanted to break down and start crying right there in the middle of the hallway, but the eight years of coldness and beatings prevented it from happening. Up close, Serenity was so much like sweet, quiet May. Then it suddenly came to her, Serenity placed a hand on her. Nobody was allowed to touch her unless they were a higher member of her gang or somebody she trusted. Of the group she was in, the only one she remotely trusted enough to touch her was Allister but that was because he had helped her so far. The other two men were starting to earn her trust, but not Serenity.
A look of shock and anger found its way onto July's face. Using her own instincts, she slapped the hand away but did not aim her gun. "Don't touch me." she ordered. Her order was a little on the mean side, but right now she didn't care what anyone thought. They didn't know anything about her.
Her ears perked up when she heard a sound like the tapping of something on glass. Her head turned towards a window and there she saw a crow attacking a window ferociously with its beak, trying to get inside to attack the group of five. The window was already cracked and after a short while, the crow crashed through and looked for a good target.

As July slapped Serenity's hand away, Allister's eyes instantly locked on the projects face, gauging her reaction to the act of aggression. If the "girl's" defensive parameters reacted badly in such an enclosed space, the group would be hard pressed to get away in time. The scientist relaxed slightly when he saw Serenity's expression. It wasn't one of fear, rather surprise and a lack of understanding at the hostility. Exhaling slightly, Allister took a step forwards and began to hold the water he was given out to the girl, in an attempt to distract her. He was about to say something to July, subtly cautioning her and letting her know that the girl meant no harm, when he heard the pecking at the window.
Allister turned just in time to see the crow breach the glass and begin to charge them. "s***!" Allister swore loudly. He wasn't concerned about the single, possibly infected crow. His concern was instead still directed towards the imminent negative reaction that Serenity would feel at this more obvious and direct attack. The scientist no longer had time for subtlety, he would think of an excuse later. Right now, all that mattered was preventing this situation from getting any worse. Allister had already begun to draw his handgun as he shouted a command to the group.
"If you value your lives, do not let that thing near the girl!" Allister swung his handgun around with all the experience of a trained Army Ranger, as he shouted another command, this time directed to the girl. "Root access override. Authorization - A. Wright. Delay Function Parameter: Temporary Suspension of Consciousness." At the same moment Allister began to fire, Serenity's eyes glazed over and her muscles all relaxed simultaneously. She collapsed backwards into one of the men behind her.
Shooting a moving target, and one as small as a crow wasn't easy, but after several rapid shots, Allister managed to clip the creatures wing. It crashed to the floor and instantly let out a call of distress. There was a beat of silence before a massive fluttering sound was heard, and the window was darkened by the bodies of a swarm of crows.
"You've got to be kidding me."

The remainder of the glass failed to stand up to the swarm ramming into it. The young airman didn't have time to react to the actions of the scientist and the girl, but he definitively made a mental connection. He hadn't been trained on anything more than zombies, not in detail. He had sit through a Power Point of other common creatures, but at the time he couldn't recall what to do for the crows.
He dove to the ground as the swarm flew over him, the crows barely missing his head as he did so.The TMP was still in his hands, ready to rock on full out auto. He knew it was a bad idea, however he let loose anyway after he scrambled up. The magazine was emptied in a few second, with a few dead crows falling to the ground. He tried to reload but lost the weapon in another dive to the floor. Somewhere in the back of his mind he could hear the zombies below moaning louder, the group was now a target of both the crows and the zombies below. As he clambered up he remembered the flash grenades Nightshade had given him. "Cover your eyes!" the airman shouts before removing the ring and tossing it in the middle of the swarm. He turned and clenched his eyes as tight as he could as a brilliant light exploded under the swarm.

Ethan scanned the room for exits as soon as he saw the first crow at the window, relying on the others with their guns to be able to handle it.
"Damn, we'd better fall back, if that thing attracts more...."
His words just tempted fate as the rest of the, aptly named, murder started coming through the smashed window. Ethan stepped forwards and threw his cloak off, wrapping his hands into the end corners of it, remembering his training at the carnival, how he was taught to use his cloak as an offensive tool. He swept in a figure eight pattern, the birds getting caught up and thrown against the walls, ceiling and floor. A few were surviving but the majority were easily broken. One managed to make it past and slashed him across the cheek however, flying back to regroup with the others for the second wave. As Ethan rubbed his wound, he caught sight of the grenade bouncing along the floor.
"Good thinking airman."
Ethan swept his cloak back on, using it to cover himself, July and Serenity all at once as the flashbang went off behind them. The grouping was exceptional, burning, stunning and even killing most of the birds whilst the rest retreated outside.
"Everyone else okay?" Not that he could hear them answer with his ears ringing.

Before the flash grenade was set off, July aimed her gun at one of the birds. Moving targets weren't exactly her specialty and at this moment, she liked animals as much as she liked other people, but she knew that she would be able to nearly hit one of the birds so long as nothing else happened.
Then the grenade went off. She missed her target and the cloak was covering her and Serenity. The sound and light began to overwhelm her senses. Whatever that thing was, it was something she had never seen before and it seemed to take care of the problem. Hopefully, this would prevent any more birds from attacking the group inside the police station.
"What the hell was that?" she asked, implying about the flash grenade that went off.

As the flash grenade was thrown out, Allister turned his head from the blast, covering his ears. As soon as he could afford to, the scientist turned quickly back to see the outcome in case he needed to continue defending himself. Luckily the grenade had done it's job and the birds were dispersing. On the unfortunate side of things, the blast was sure to alert every shambling undead in the area. They had to move.
Allister reached into one of his pockets, pulling out a syringe filled with a clear liquid. He pulled the cap of the needle, turning quickly to kneel down next to Serenity. In one quick motion, he pushed the needle into her neck and emptied the contents of the syringe there. Lifting the unconscious girl, he slung her gently over his left shoulder so he could still use his handgun, before turning to the group.
"What's the plan for getting out of this hell hole?"

The Airman looked to July, "Flashbang! Come on we gotta go now!" he shouts the last part to the group before scooping up the TMP and moving to the nearby door, leading to the Chief of Police's office. In the back of his mind he was concerned with the scientist's actions, but pushed it away, the entire station was bound to be coming for them now.

Ethan let the others past when Jake threw a second grenade and started leading them to safety, he seemed to have things covered for now. The blast behind them stunned a few undead who had just pushed a far door open, stumbling blind for a bit and tangling into each other. As the group followed a twisting corridor Ethan pulled down shelves, boxes and other pieces of debris behind them to slow down the pursuit. As he was the last in he slammed the office door shut and pushed a deadbolt in place.
"Okay, any windows or....jesus."
The decor was bad enough when the station was still running, now though the Chiefs infamous taxidermy collection was moth eaten and tossed around the room. Still at least these animals stayed dead, and speaking of animals....
Ethan grabbed Allistar by the collar and held him against the wall, picking him up slighlty.
"Okay buddy, want to explain why you felt the need to stick a needle in that kid? and make it fast before I throw you back out there with those things."
