"It's the plausible answer this is real world not a movie who knows if we will live or die but now you make us jump into a new room who knows how many stories up with who knows how many zombies are in here," Joseph said in a lower voice with a hint of annoyance. He shook his head then took another look around the room. "I'll scout the area," he grumbled pointing his light at different points of what he guessed was an office building. He walked over to the window he jumped through and looked out of it; the zombies had already made it to that window. " Good thing they can't jump," he shook his head. and walked back over to Garfeild.
"Zombies on one side dogs on another, if there not already on there way up by stairs or something."
"Dogs that's not good and the zombies are already at the stairwell over there but let's think of this logically how many shots do you have left in your gun?" Joseph asked getting restless, enemies on both sides of him with would be the safer way to go.

"well i have 27 rounds left but it's a sniper, i'd be better of using the hatchet" he told him. "When the dogs arrive we can jump out and hope we dont break a leg", "that would leave us with the dogs when they jump down to us again and stall the zombies" he talked, but it wasn't serious planning. He searched the room, noticing all to much the moans of the zombies closing in.
He eyed the corner of the room where two windows connect. His eyes narrowed on the outer ledge, which held a black coard connecting it to another building across the street, before he could get far with his thought's he realized the cable would most likely not even be able to hold either one of them long enough to make any distance. He cursed at his luck and turned to joseph, "looks like we may actually have to fight afterall". "It was a good run" he said sarcastically before pulling out his hatchet waiting for the infected to bash through the door in the stairway.

"Or," Joseph points his gun out the window and shoots one of the dogs, "We can kill the dogs before they get to us look they aren't smart enough to know they can get us by going inside the easier way they only think the simple way which is to try and jump through this window." He points down to the dogs trying to jump in. "You have the the sniper shoot the rest of the dogs so we can have a clear jump and give me the hatchet I will guard your back and I don't want to wast anymore ammo," he told Garfeild getting ready for the worst.
As Jospeh waited he heard the banging get louder and louder on the door it would only be a matter of minutes now before the zombies got in. "Stupid large cities always get the best of me," he let out a little smile at his own joke. But then he got back into reality. "The hatchet hurry," he said in a more serious tone.

He tossed him the hatchet and raised his rifle, "time to put down some work" he said shooting the second dog in it's temple. He shot the third dog between it's angry eyes, and got his sights on the last one when he heard the door burst open. He finished the last dog and looked to joseph. "come on!, he yelled taking a shot at the poor unsuspecting zombie in the lead. He jumped out the window and hit the ground rolling. He saw out joseph land by him out of the corner of his eye.
They ran down the street through the maze of cars, quickly leaving the majority of the crowd behind. Now they were only troubled with the fastest of the infected. "Okay, holing up in a builing is out of the question. So how do we actually make it out of this city?". He said shooting a runner through the bridge of it's nose.

[Jake is entering the City Streets from Mall of America]
For the third time in as many blocks, Jake cursed his luck and backed up. So far the streets that once seemed clear and empty were choked with the burned out hulks of vehicles. Every so often he could see something moving around inside of one of them, but he knew not to check it out. Even hurt humans could open a car door or climb out a broken window. Not true of the undead. They would just remain in the car until the Earth fell into the Sun.
As he backed up he thought of the young woman that was too shocked to even respond to the most basic of questions. She was probably still locked up in the bathroom in the Sporting Good Store. Just like the zombie, she was probably destined to live out the rest of her life there. Such a waste.
He finally found a road that was 4 lanes wide and clear for at least a mile. He turned down that street, not speeding up, but going slow to watch the side traffic. All he needed was to be nailed by some out of control gas tanker and explode in a blaze of glory. He had a Colonel to kill.
Jake knew that he was getting deeper into the city, as the buildings were getting taller and taller. He didn’t know which direction he was facing because he couldn’t see the sun. During his training in the military, he had been able to navigate by the stars and the sun, but here in the down town area, the sun was blocked out by the buildings. Worse, it reflected off of mirrored windows so sunlight came in from all angles. His best bet was to keep going, as much as he could in a straight line and exit the city. Then he could get his bearings and loop around the city to head back to Washington…. Again, to kill the Colonel that had set him up.
He also made it a priority to pick up a compass at their next stop… even if it was one of those little things that you mounted to the car window.
He was pulled out of his planning session by gunfire. “Sounds like sniper fire”, he said to noone. It seemed to come from the street leading off to his right. Of course the echoes didn’t help, but the loudest part came from that direction. He turned right down the smaller road and sped up a bit. Someone was in need of help. And he was a sucker for people in need of help.
He didn’t hear anything else, but nearly ran over two men running in the street. Jake slammed on the brakes and skidded to a halt mere feet from the first man. He saw that one man was armed with a rifle and the other a hatchet. They both seemed to be trying to escape something. Jake rolled down the window and extended his M16A4 out the window, not directly at the men, but close enough that if they opened fire on him, they would die soon after.
“Need a lift?”

Joseph caught the hatchet just as the door broke down and zombies started pouring in. One zombie tried to bite him but he cleaved the zombies head.
"come on!"
Joseph nodded hacking away at one more zombie before he followed Garfeild out the window. As he hit the ground he peered up at the window to see the zombies there. The zombies started climbing out the window and were plopping on the ground. "s***," Joseph mumbled running to catch up with Garfeild."Zombies coming behind us," Joseph told Garfeild as soon as he caught up with him.
"Okay, holing up in a building is out of the question. So how do we actually make it out of this city?".
"Well we could......," Joseph said only being stopped by the sound of a car pulling up. "Here's your hatchet," he said tossing the hatchet back to Garfeild. Amazing how could he get this deep with a car maybe traffic isn't as bad that way perhaps a back exit to the city, he smiled at that thought. His smile faded as he saw a gun appear out of the window. "Wow now!" he exlaimed pulling out his own gun and pointing it at the window.
“Need a lift?”
Joseph lowered his gun a little and looked down back down the way he came. Zombies were starting to mass out the window. He thought for a second then let out a little smile. "Yes a lift would be helpful."

he hopped in and slammed the door, looking back at the zombies falling out the window. He looked over at the driver of the vehicle and was immediatley caught off gaurd by his tattoo's. "hit the first son of a b*** yah see" he said, leaning away from the door already being smacked.
He sliipped the gas mask off of his neck and unzipped his hoodie, revealing the ammo straps around his grey turtleneck. "phew" , he opened the door into the zombie and shoved the sharp end of the hatchet into it's eye. "alright i'l start the intro's, im garfeild" he told the driver while tapping his shoulder, "lets get a move on though, i dont want bad luck to kick my a**."

The HumVee lurched forward. Unlike the civilian models, this military version had reinforced armor and a much larger engine. Jake slammed his foot on the accelerator. The HumVee rammed a walker and it crumpled under the bumper. Jake fought the urge to floor it once they were past the horde. Many people damaged their cars thinking they needed to go 60 mph. Anything over 20 and you would outpace the undead. It saved gas and ultimately the vehicle. Within a few minutes, the zombies were far behind."
"Hey Garfield, name's Jake. Not to think ya'll are crazy, but please tell me you weren't out hunting those things with a hatchet and a rifle."
Jake took the next left as the lane in front of him became blocked with cars.

Joseph sat back and rested his head on the cars headrest as the car started to accelerate. He saw varies zombies as they this man Jake drive through the city. It had been a stressful day that was originally going to get him supplies but did he truly get any nope.
"Hey Garfield, name's Jake. Not to think ya'll are crazy, but please tell me you weren't out hunting those things with a hatchet and a rifle."
Joseph tilted his head forward off of the headrest. "Well technically the hatchet is his," Joseph said as he pointed to Garfield. "But I pretty much came here and my car was almost out of gas so I decided to enter the city for supplies and such but it was only a matter of minutes before zombies found me," he stopped to take a breath then continued, " that is when i met Garfeild over there he managed to get some stuff out of a small store not enough to make this day worth it though in my opinion but then we went up a building got trapped wound up killing a few dogs to get out and now we are here." Joseph let out a deep breath after that.

"Well actually i was hunting for chocolate, and as it turns out the zombies wanted it." He said with the blankest face he'd had in days, "just kidding... they thought i would be better than the chocolate." He unstrapped the cestus and clenched his hands attempting to get more blood flow.
"So what brings you doing it this part of the city? not exactly car friendly," eyeing their current vehicle, "but then again neither is this car". He pulled out another chocolate bar and ate it, slowly this time. "We got the food and water if you have the gas"," and we have this" he said quietly, holding the last chocolate bar near his face. "i dont care where we go, whaddya say?"

Jake spared a look over at Garfield.
"I've been hiding out at the Mall of America for a couple of days. Basically ransacked the Sporting Goods store for all its camping equipment and weapons as well as some cold weather gear. Then I was trying to find my way out of this damn city but keep getting blocked in by cars."
Jake swerved around another junked out hulk and kept going, keeping the speed at around 20 mphs.
"Eventually, I need to get to Washington DC. I have some personal things that I need to take care of there."
Finally Jake saw the sun down one of the streets. Judging my the time, it was before noon. That meant that they were facing East. At least now, he could get his bearing. If they didn't change directions too many times, then he could navigate the area.

Joseph shook his head in the backseat. "Washington D.C.; is that place filled with the undead also or no word on there," he said taking looking through his pack. "Oh and the names Joseph by the way forgot to introduce myself earlier," he told Jake. Joseph messed around with some of the stuff in his pack before pulling out a rag and zipping his backpack back up. "Bah zombie blood disgusting stuff," he said wiping some blood off of his shirt. "Well I guess that's what I get for killing a zombie with a hatchet," he chuckled at his own words.
Joseph peered out the windows to see the car pass numerous buildings and zombies. What a sad place would have sucked getting out of this place on foot.

"Too true"... he said leaning his head against the seat. He sighed in exasperation, that was almost gonna get tough, he thought. "Thank's for the assist" he mentioned tiredly, i haven't been caught like that in a long time. Especially not in a city, he replaced the clip on his sniper and leaned it against his seat.
"Personal?, haven't heard that word used since before the end of the world" he remeniced before readjusting the cestus back on his hand's. "Well in all honesty i haven't seen another person since the virus resurfaced, beginning to think i might be the only survivalist" he remembered the feeling from his time in mexico. He re-zipped his hoodie up to mid chest and stared out the window in silence.

Jake cut across the median of one of the roads to get to the other side. The cars here were fewer and it was easier to manuever.
"Yeah... personal." He said, as if almost to himself. "By the way, there are some MRE's back there and if either of you need 9mm or 40, it is back there in a bag. Found them loose on the floor and decided that I could trade them in or something. They're yours if you want them."
Coming around the edge of a burned out tanker, Jake grinned. The road was opening up and there weren't many zombies out here. Unexpectedly, he pulled the HumVee over to the side of the road. Nothing was around for a bit.
"So do ya'll want to come along, or do I need to drop you somewhere?"

Joseph heard the man offer him another gun. "Nice gesture but no thank you I prefer my gun," he said pulling out his. He sighed as the car continued moving it was quite a dull day well other than Garfeild and himself almost getting eaten by zombies but still the day could have been more appealing. He noticed the car being pulled over. "Why are we pulling over?" he asked only to be stopped in words when the other man asked.
"So do ya'll want to come along, or do I need to drop you somewhere?"
"You know I truly haven't thought about were I wanted to go I guess if either you or Garfeild need another person to help with stuff I could," Joseph said to both Garfeild and Jake scratching his head. He looked out the windows of the car to make sure there were no zombies coming.
