Amanda dodged the wreckage of flipped cars and cracked pavement as she drove into Raccoon. The outskirts looked quiet to her. She hadn't seen an infected for some time now, which calmed her senses. She kept on the look out tho, her heart slowing down. She needed supplies. Her stomach was growling and her truck wasn't going to go much father without it. She decided she would start at the outskirts of town and work her way forward and try and find a gas station that still had some gas in it. She knew they were probably mostly dry, but hell it didn't hurt to try.
Taking the next exit she saw, she moved to the streets of Raccoon.

The safest route back to Raccoon City. Joey had taken this same route plenty of times to know exactly how long it would take them to get there, however this time, he had another vehicle to guide along. Since the new outbreak, he had always went alone, and always went offroad. Unfortunately, wasnt happening this time around. Most of the cars that had been leaving Raccoon City were stopped on the highway, leaving the other side open for driving. Only problem about coming from the woods via a dirt path was the barrier in the middle. They would have to venture the packed road until they reached a crossing, which shouldnt be more than a fifteen minute drive past all the traffic. Using the truck, Joey could push a lost of the vehicle out of the way for Preston, but he still needed the guy to use his skills as a driver to get it safely across.
Stopping at the edge of the dirt road leading onto Route 104, Joey parked the truck, and then cut the engine. Getting out, he left the door open, and then walked around to the front of the pickup, and jumped up on the hood. By this time, Preston got it, with his gun ready just in case. The only thing Joey had was his rifle, and from this distance, he could scope out anything from the entire stretch. Peering through the four ex, he used it to see if there had been any bigger snags before they went on further. "Were gonna have to take the busy road up for a bit, until we can cross over. Since were taking our time, if you spot any infected what so ever, wave out the window, dont honk. Ill get out and make the shot, dont need half of these walkers swarming the vehicles, especially when its so packed already from the wreckless drivers... You still game for this?"

Preston braked and stuck his head out of his window. "Yeah, I got cha. If I spot any infected I will let you know. Oh, here take this!" Preston shouted. He retreated his head into the car and started to fumble around in his center console. Preston pulled out two Walkie Talkies and turned them on.
He turned off the engine and stepped out of the Impala. He walked over to Joey and handed him the other Walkie. "Here you go. This should allow us to talk without stopping and getting out of the vehicles." Preston smiled and began to walk back to his car. Preston pulled the Walkie to his mouth and clicked the side button. "This is a test run. Can you hear me?"

Lowering the rifle back down to his chest, Joey jumped down onto the ground, and then grabbed the walkie talkie from Preston. "Great, this makes thing just that much easier!" With that, Joey had ran back to the truck, and heard the radio call perfectly through the side of the radio. Raising it up to his mouth as he jumped into the front seat. "Read you loud and clear. Frequencies were already matched up, you had something like this in mind already, didnt you? Though of everything..."
Turning on the engine, Joey drove the truck at full speed onto the highway, drifting sideways off the dirt, and slamming into a small convertable. The impact flipped the car off, clearning a good few meters of road for them already. He was about getting things done right, there was no over way to do this besides just pushing them out of the way. The truck had already taken a beaten, a little more until they got into the city wouldnt make much of a difference. Raising the radio to his mouth again, Joey sped down the road into another car, then held down the switch. "Been meaning to do this for awhile now. Gets at least your vehicle there in one piece, and saves the trouble for other people trying to travel in a hurry!"

Preston watched in astonishment as Joey crashed through the disabled cars. Preston would never do that in this car. This was the last reminder of his Grace. "Are you sure, you wanna do that bro?" he said into his Walkie Talkie. The light of the sun had finally hit them. It's about noon now. Preston opened the center console and pulled out a pair of Aviators. He used his free hand to put them on. Now he wouldn't have to worry about the sunlight blinding him.

"The trucks on its last legs anyways, and we need to get this highway clear enough to get to Raccoon City. If I break down, we can use yours to clear the straight stretch. Im just beating it to the ground, while its still got a little life left..." Thats what you did. When you know your not going to see the sunshine tomorrow, you push forward with the last bit of everything you have. The truck was no different, its seen some pretty rough days. But it was loud, and bulky, wouldnt be very good to drive around Raccoon City, especially if it decided to cut out while the walkers had it pinned.
Ramming another vehicle off to the side, Joey reversed a little more, and was about to go again, but thats when he saw the woman standing there. Revving the engine of the truck, he squeeled the tired, and then plowed directly into her, knocking her back into another vehicle. At this time, there had been another group of infected coming from on section of the highway, which wouldnt be very good had Preston and him been on foot.
The good news way, they were only another few stretches to the U turn location, then they could cross over onto the bare side. Bad news was, the back end of a semi had been on the way. This would take a little more force, a running start that Joey had. Backing up the truck again, Joey spoke into the radio, peeling out again with the tired of the truck. "As soon as I clear off the road, you pass me, and get onto the other side of the highway. The truck isnt gonna run anymore after that, not by ramming this Semi in the way. You ready? Good. Cause I sure as sh*t am!" Gunning it forward, Joey plowed through the oncoming zombies, and a faint red mist filled the air as body parts littered the windshield.
The Semi was slide out of the way, but when everything came to plan, the pickup had been on its back out on the bare side of the highway. The remaining walkers had all started to walk toward Joey, who had been crawling out of the drivers side on his back. Pulling out the rifle with one hand, he noticed his leg was pinned under the seat, and the infected hadnt dropped their pace any. The radio was out of reach, along with the duffel bag. The only thing Joey could do now was fend them off with his knife in a prone position, or hope that Preston could replay an early favor.

Preston saw as Joey flipped his truck. Preston slowed down and saw that Joey was trapped. The infected were starting to converge on Joey. Preston began to spin out and punched the gas. He got closed to where Joey's truck was and slammed on his brakes. The Impala whipped sideways and Preston grabbed his Revovler. He pointed it out the window and pulled the trigger. The first round hit a zombie in the chest knocking it to the ground. Preston un buckled his seat belt and opened the door. He fired another shot blowing the second infected's brains out. The body dropped to the ground. Preston dispatched the other infected with the remaining rounds. Preston bent over and extended his hand to Joey to help him up. "I guess this is me repaying the favor I owe you" He siad smiling.
Three figures watched as Preston killed the infected. "Looks like it's time to move in on them" One said. The other two nodded and shouldered the SAR-21s. Two of them flanked around to the left and the third went to the right. "Get your hands up! Now!" the Leader shouted. Preston dropped his Revovler and the other two made themselves known. One of them grabbed Preston's Revolver and walked back.
One shot rang out and blood spattered on Preston's face. The other two dropped to thier knees and began to shout to eachother. "What the hell happened to Zach?" One shouted. The other shrugged his shoulders and looked around. Another shot rang out and a second dropped. The last remaining Soldier stood up and ran down the highway. One final shot rang out, and the man the was sprinting dropped.
Manuel lowered his rifle and smiled. "Three down, and that equals about three thousand dollars." Manuel said with a smirk. All I need is to find proof that I kill them. Manuel made his way down to the bodies. He ignored the two people and ripped off the Umbrella logos on thier uniforms.

The wind had been knocked out of Joeys chest, this making his vision a blur as he tried to catch it. he heard the gunshots after the car squeeling, and he knew that Preston wasnt going to just leave him and drive off. The very few rounds that were fired mustve been pretty good, because within seconds, Joey had been lifted up onto his feet, and leaning himself against the car.
Just when his vision was coming back though, the three men had came from the ditch on the side of the highway. Everything was happening too fast, but Joey was pretty sure that they didnt even see him, being on the other side of the vehicle. Having only a knife in his hand, he didnt retaliate. The bag of guns had been on the road, if they want it, they can have it. But without anymore warning, more gunshots filled the air, and when Joey had moved back around the car to see what was going on, the three men were all dead, and a new survivor had made his way over to them. Getting a clear vision of what the man was doing, he seemed to be gathering badges or something from the mens uniforms, BSAA? Tricell? No, it was another, something familliar. Umbrella.
"Take mine, might make yourself an extra buck." Joey reached into his pocket and pulled out an Umbrella logo. It had a bit of dry blood on it, but it was still in good shape. Considering its age. Joey tossed it to the South American man standing before them, and he caught it with a swipe. "A little keepsake of mine, old world souveneir. I found it off the body of a true UBCS soldier in 1998. Saved out life, least I can do, take it..." While speaking, Joey had moved further onto the road, grabbing his duffel bag and rifle, along with the walkie talkie. Then as he approached the mercenary looking guy, he grabbed Prestons revolver, walking it back over to him.

Manuel ignored every word until Joey pulled out an Umbrella badge. Manuel grabbed the badge and spoke very softly. "Thank you for the badge. And may I ask where you two plan on going?" He said in a cold tone. Manuel waited for a reply and ejected the clip from his M16A4. He slapped a new clip into his weapon.
"We are going to Raccoon City. You wanna come along?" Preston quickly asked. Waiting for Manuel's answer , Preston turned to Joey whom just handed his weapon to him. "Thanks man" Preston said giving Joey a pat on the back.
Manuel weighed his options. Either he could risk it by going alone or having some form of cannon fodder. What should I do?[/u] Manuel decided to take the safe route. "Sure, it wouldn't hurt"

"Right then, I call back seat." Without having much more of a conversation, Joey picked up the ejected magazine from the mans gun, and then pushed out the remaining four bullets into his duffel bag. After tossing the magazine to the side, he picked up each of the apparent "Umbrella" soldiers' weapons, and stuffed them inside the bag as well. He wasnt sure if anything was worth carrying along, but right now wasnt the time to be sorting through guns, but rather just getting off the road and driving toward Raccoon City.
Quickly running over to Prestons car, Joey opened up the backdoor, and tossed everything inside. Two reasons he chose the back seat. One, so he could go through the bag at a slower pace, plan ahead, and divide things up. Two, because he didnt really trust this new guy all too well, Joey be in the back seat keeping an eye on him to make sure he doesnt do anything. The guy couldve been walking, and if that was the case, he would apriciate the drive. However, given the distance from the city, he was more than likely in a vehicle of some time, the foot travel would be next to impossible. Either way, Joey didnt really care, so long they got to Raccoon City in one piece.
Besides the bottles of water and ammunition, the duffel bag contained a double barrel shotgun, his .44 magnum, which would now be holstered onto his side, two Mac 10s, and a Glock. The last three were the ones taken from the bodies, the Mac 10's surprisingly still had their original suppressors on them. Though no other ammunition was found besides the nearly full magazines, they chambered 9mm, so mixing and matching would work just as fine. Joey removed some bullets from the Glocks magazine, and filled up the magazines of the two Mac 10's, figuring they would be the most used, given the suppressors. They werent something he got the chance to fire a lot, but the suppressor on them was quire revolutionary. You could hear the bolt cycling as you fired, under the sound of the miniscule gunshot.
Joey seen a few more under moving on the other side of the highway, but it didnt bother him, they couldnt even get past the wall of cars up ahead. It was a good thing Preston and him could cross over, wasnt sure if they would ever make it to Raccoon City staying on the highway at the rate they were going. But this new guy didnt settle will with him. Maybe Preston had been acting on impulse, helping the guy out, but you dont always let a complete stranger into your car, not until you were certain they werent going to shoot you. If Preston got that feeling, than Joey could live with it. Besides, it meant they were both going to be keeping a good eye on him. Regardless of his background, Joey had dealt with much, much more than some bulky mercenary.

Preston shifted into third gear. He glanced in the rear view mirror to check on Joey. He was looking at the weapons that he just aquired from those "Umberella" guys. He had gotten a weird feeling when he let the new guy into the Impala. Preston pushed that thought in the back of his head. He hoped that this new guy would not try to kill them. If he did, him and Joey would be more than capable of taking him down. Preston didn't want to result to that.
Manuel relaxed in his seat. It's been a long time since he's rode in a car. Or an sort of transportation. Manuel was thankful for the ride but said nothing to the boy. Manuel was in Raccoon City on a mission. He was hunting someone that escaped into the City. With these two guys, he could let them draw all of the zombies in. Once they do, Manuel can slip past them and kill his target.

It was going to be a lot longer drive then he though, fifteen minutes longer. The turnoff had brought them back a little more time, but always because theyre taking the road itself, it would be longer anyways. Normally when Joey drove, he took a few shortcuts offroad, which he didnt even bother mentioning to Preston, as this Impala wouldnt be safe on them. The drive had been surprisingly quiet, and for the first little bit, Joey organized everything back in duffel back, only having his rifle and the two Mac10's out, one for Preston if he needed. The silence and the trees that past them by brewed up some old memories with Joey, and he soon found himself lost in a moment... "Hey Raine, do you think youll ever forgive me?" "Well, are you coming back?" "For all the right reasons, yeah..." "Hmm? All the right reasons?" "My sweater, for one. Oh, and that picture of-" "What about me?" "I cant come back for you... I want to, but I cant..." "Why not?" "Because things wont be any different." "So your just going to leave me to die?" "You were dead to me the day you came home..." "...I ...I understand..." "I know you would. That doesnt mean I-" Just then, Joey came to. Still holding the two guns in his hands, he lay them on the seat next to his duffel bag, and then looked out the window. "Preston! Stop the car!"

"Preston! Stop the car!" Joey shouted. Preston slammed both feet on the brake pad. The Impala was going about ninty miles per hour and began to lose control. Preston quickly turned the steering wheel to the left and back to the right. At this rate his car was going to crash into the guard rail. The car started to slow down and soon came to a stop. Preston sharply exhaled and placed his head on the steering wheel.
As Preston slammed on the brakes, Manuel's head bounced off the dash board. Manuel didn't have enough time to brace for impact. He was knocked out for ten seconds. Manuel snapped awake and tasted his own blood. His nose and mouth were bloody. "What the hell is your problem!?" Manuel shouted at Joey.

The first thing Joey did was jump out of the car, leaving the door open. Running behind them for a good ten meters, he jumped into the ditch off the highway, and then booted it across to the woods. Stopping on the tree line, at least two hundred feet from the car, Joey picked up his black hoody, looking it over for any amount of blood. It was clean as far as blood went, but it had been all dirtied up from the mud. Looking down at the ditch, he seen the footprints leading into a trail. He knew this trail, it went to the southern part of Raccoon City. By this time, Preston had been standing on the highway, looking down at him. Joey held up the black sweater, and then yelled out. "This belongs to me, and theres only one person I know who couldve had it. Listening, im gonna follow this trail, ill meet you in Raccoon City by nightfall. Still got the walkie talkie, right? Keep the battery off until 6pm, on the nose. Ill call you then. Look after my stuff!" All Joey had with him was the radio, and his hunting knife, but he didnt care. Those tracks looked fresh, and he wasnt about to give up on this anytime soon. Seconds later, Joey disappeared into the woods, not even waiting for Preston to respond. [Joey is now in Raccoon City]

Preston stood by his door in disbelief. His guide left him? Preston couldn't even find words to fit the situation. Preston just reached for his Walkie Talkie and shut it off. Preston tossed it in the backseat and got back in his car. He looked at Manuel, whom was bleeding from the sudden stop. Preston reached in the center compartment and pulled out some napkins. "Here ya go. This should help" He said smiling.
Manuel looked at the smiling Preston and grabbed the napkin. "Thanks man, your a good person" He quickly said. The kindness that Preston was showing him reminded Manuel of his mom. He hasn't seen this kindness in a long time.
Preston started the Impala and shifted into first gear. He squealed his tires and sped down the road. Preston could see the outline of Raccoon City in the distance.
[Manuel and Preston are in Raccoon City]
