Katherine had reeled back a little before hesitating to grab his hand. Of course she did after a few seconds, nervously returning the gesture. "I'm sorry I caught you off guard, Shane. I just had been attacked recently by some insane person in the shopping district. I wasn't sure if you were like them..." realizing she was ranting she shook her head.
"I'm Katherine," she told him, forcing a small smile.

Shane nodded, shaking her hand before letting go and shaking her head. "Nah it's not your fault, I'm just a little wary; and, aside from the fact that five seconds ago I was on my knees digging through sleeping pills I'm farely certain I'm not crazy. Katherine right, good to meet you. So, what brings you all the way out to apocalypse center today?" Shane turned to kneel again, sifting through to bottles and finding what he was next looking for, a small group of light pain killers/fever reducers. Taking a few and placing them in his bag, Shane stood again, looking around warily. He was hiding his worry well with sarcasm, but things never stayed safe for very long in these situations and he knew it better than most. This is not good. Those things could come back any time. I should just go....but I can't just leave her here....ah, dang it.

Katherine kept her eyes on the outside of the pharmacy incase any unwanted company reared their rotten heads. Upon hearing Shane's question, she glanced back at him and then back at the streets, shifting back and fourth cautiously.
"Um, I lived here. My husband, daughter and myself live here,"she began before frowning and lowering her gun to the point where the nose of her rifle was brushing against the cold tile.
"We were separated about two days ago...Then when we found eachother earlier tonight, something came inbetween us and now I can't find them at all..." she trailed off sadly.

"Hm...I see. Well they must be in the city, exactly what came between you? Do you remember what direction they left in? " Lost her family huh? Not good. I've seen the type before. She's gonna go after her family, and there's not a damn thing I could tell her to stop her from going. Chances are she'll be killed if I let her go alone....aw damn it I can't just let her go alone. Shane stretched for a moment, mostly to cover up a glance to the left. In the upper right hand corner of the room there was a semi-spherical ball that was mirrored, used to watch people coming from the outside even if one's back was turned. There he saw something that was a serious problem. Four ghouls at the back of the store behind the counter. Oh crap! That is really not good. How is it I didn't see them before?! They must have been corpses when I got in here. Their faces were turned towards them now. It was only a matter of time. "Katherine, I want you to listen...very...very...carefully. When I tell you, we are going to very very slowly back step out of the building. You will not make noise, you will avoid the broken glass and lastly, you will stay very close to me." Shane slowly began stepping backwards, making his way for the exit.

Katherine looked at the young man oddly before looking over and around to see what had him so worried. Her thoughts were answered when those all too familiar groans echoed through the silent pharmacy. Her heart started to pang against her chest and her finger squeezed the trigger of her rifle tightly.
"Alright," she whispered finally, slowly moving toward the exit. She was terrified. It had been a while since the city was overrun, she had killed a few of them but every time she knew she was in danger she couldn't help but feel undying fear.
Trying to leave the store, she spun around to grab the door only to find a few of the damned creatures had found them from outside. Three of them had their bodies pressed against the large window, slamming their leathery palms against it over and over.
"AH!" she screamed, startled.

At the sound of Katherine's scream, Shane spun around to see the ghoulish figures had found them from outside as well. "Ah damn it!" Shane exclaimed, drawing his revolver. He put his hand on her shoulders, calmly spinning her around so she was facing him before releasing. "Listen. You've gotta stay calm. We've gotta get to the back exit. We can get out that way. Those three at the back have probab...." Shane looked up at the mirror. They were gone. Oh crap...where....where... He pocketed his gun and hefted the bat again. At that moment a ghoul lunged at him from one of the side aisles, knocking him to the floor. It was a heavy one. Shane could barely breathe, and he could smell the decaying flesh on the creature's breath as it snarled at him. "Urrrrrrrrrah! No way!" Shane flipped the bat around so that the handle was facing the creature and slammed it into the back of its head. The force was sufficient and creature slumped atop him. With a rough shove Shane pushed it off and stood, shaking off the shock. With a glance back to the entrance he saw the creatures were making headway in cracking the glass. Acting on instinct, he grabbed the girl's hand, leading her back towards the exit. "Come on we've gotta go!"

Katherine nodded and followed close behind him, looking back at the undead that forced their way through the now shattered window. As the two quickly tried for a vast escape, Katherine had spotted the emergency back door. Slamming her hand against the red button next to it, the lock released and they were free to exit. Unfortunately as she was near close to freedom, one of the missing corpses had grabbed ahold of her arm, jerkingher back and snarling it's jagged teeth at her.
"Gah! L-let me go!" she yelled, slamming the butt of her rifle against it's face. She wasn't strong, but the force of the attack managed to stun it and send it stumbling back. Groaning loudly, it collapsed on the floor with a dull thud.
Immediately after, Katherine darted out of the pharmacy and into the back alley with Shane. She slammed the door shut again, hearing the lock activate once more. "Oh God...that was close..." she muttered between breaths.

Shane sighed, reluctantly removing his hand from the revolver in his pocket. "Yeah....it was." he breathed, glancing back at the emergency exit. One pound came from it. Then two, three, then four, evermore increasing by the moment. Shane realized all too well just how lucky they had really been. "Come on, we've gotta get moving. They're like cockroaches, where there's one, there's a ton more." Shane cast around for about a couple of moments, finally spotting a gate which acted as an exit from the fenced in employee parking lot they found themselves in now. Which, of course, was berefit of cars. "Listen, we stand a better chance of survival if we travel together. I've got nowhere to go, no family to take care of. But, if we stick together we've got a much better chance of finding yours." Shane paused for a moment, looking around again to make sure there were no more ghouls. The pounding on the exit door was heavy, but they weren't getting through anytime soon. Shane extended his hand towards Katherine. "So whaddya say? Partners?"

The readhead looked down at hishand then back up at the young man's face. Usually she didn't trust strangers too often, but he did help her out alot back in the pharmacy. She finally smiled a little and shook his hand. "Partners," she replied.
As soon as they had both agreed, Katherine started to look around the lot, wondering whereto go next. "The last time I saw my husband and daughter was somewhere around the BuildIt Hardware store...Is it okay if we go check around there...?" she asked of him.

Shane smiled, shaking her hand once before releasing. It was good to have a partner in situations like these. He was glad to help Katherine, and it would keep them both safe if they worked together. He nodded once, looking around himself once more in a ditch effort to find a vehicle. "It's perfectly fine. BuildIt Hardware right? Then let's get going."

Katherine nodded and started to walk ahead, taking the lead unintentionally. She had hoped deep down that John and Kylie would be there and safe...It'd be great if she could see them again, then maybe this nightmare wouldn't be as bad...

[Cody Matthews has arrived at Dale's Pharmacy]
Pulling up to the place Matthews killed the bike and coasted into the lot. Parking just to the left of the place, he hopped off his bike and pulled out his .45.
Readying the weapon, he stepped to the clear glass doors and peered inside, seeing nothing in his line of sight, he started to put the weapon away when he noticed something dripping from the ceiling... Something RED...
Looking up, he saw something that could have really messed him up had he gone in unaware, a lone licker was clinging to the ceiling. Worse yet, this one looked beefier than ordinary ones, claws on the ends of its feet, exposed heart throbbing against its chest, and the trademark spearlike tongue hanging out a bit, primed, hungry, ready to strike. Matthews thought for a second, then came up with an idea, he put away the .45, drew the M870 instead, picked up a small chunk of concrete lying nearby, and edged toward the door. Opening it slowly, he then hurled the concrete through the air, completely missing the licker, and instead smashing into the cash register with a resounding SMASH.
The beast immediately leaped at the source of the noise, and attempted to strike, only to taste thin air as it had gone for the place the register had been moments ago, Matthews quietly crept up to the beast, put the barrel of the gun to its exposed brain, and reduced the beast's cranium to brain salad with the pull of a trigger...
'Now then, I'm here, where's that panic room...'

July ran through the streets, escaping the route where her minutes-long friend, Christopher, was killed by the runaway truck. Running through the city wasn't that hard. Despite the fact that weird creatures and endless amounts of danger were everywhere, July knew most of the streets like the back of her hand.
A building came into her sight. She'd seen it before, but never got the chance to go inside. She didn't even know what it was, but she knew enough to know that if she would come up to a building she didn't recognize, it would be better to ambush from the back. Thankfully, the back door was right in front of her.
July pulled on the back door and found it locked. No big deal. She only needed to use her lockpick and the back door was opened. The room she was in was full of boxes of medicines, food, and other things she'd never had to use for. She heard the all-too-familiar moans of the people from the streets inside the room. Slowly, they walked around boxes, knocking over shelved items in the process.
The girl took her handgun and aimed it at the person closest to her. Her arms had to go upwards at an angle to reach the forehead of the person. She remembered how, only a half an hour ago, a police officer was shooting at one of the creatures. None of the bullets that made it into the chest made a difference. It was only when the officer shot the creature in the head that he won the battle. A quick shot into the head of the closest zombie sent it falling backwards. July was quick when she turned and shot the second of the two zombies in the head and heard the thump on the ground.
Seeing nothing of interest to her, July headed for the next door, the one that separated the room she was in from the room Cody was in. Slowly she opened the door with her gun prepared to shoot anything of a threat to her.

Hearing a sound coming from the other room, Cody drew his .45, quickly hid behind a nearby pile of boxes and waited for who, or whatever it was to enter.
The door creaked open, and in walked someone who clearly wasn't infected, 'She could be a psycho like that last one though...' He had to be sure she was safe before he let his guard down again...
Moving silently, he repositioned himself so that he could speak without being seen. Taking refuge behind a nearby aisle of pain medication, Cody spoke his message just loud enough for her to hear...
"Are you right in the head, or not?"

Rolena rolled into the parking lot of the pharmacy, noting the bloodshed. 'The people here need to learn to clean up their messes.'[joking during stressful times runs in the family, sorry.] She rolled into the store, and skated to the right just in time to dodge a bullet. "Woah, hold your fire," she said, skidding to a halt. She saw that it was a girl who was shooting at her, probably a few years younger. The girl looked like she lived on the streets, and in this time, she might just do so.
"I'm Rolena, and you? Also, I can see you behind that aisle. Don't worry, I don't bite... usually." Rolena saw that he looked weary of her, and the girl with the pistol.
[Please note: Rolena is a bigger joker than Kalonov, and she rolls like her name implies. Kal's full name is an anagram.]
