Lilly shrugged and tossed back a piece of steak and chewed on it. Across from her Maggie was digging into her food as well. Maggie looked for for a moment, waiting for the story before she took another bite. Lilly swallowed her bite and then started her story.
"Let's just say, my whole family was devoured by the undead and with it every ounce of compassion I have. I've been known to go 'off reservation' every so often. The BSAA keeps me around for dirty missions like this. Whenever they could potentially lose a good agent or team, I get to go in and destroy whatever." Lilly looked from John to Maggie. "Probably why our flight is being flown by 'Ms. Crashdown' here". Lilly said it with a little bit of a smile, but she really didn't know how Maggie would take it. Actually, she didn't care either. That part about all her compassion being gone wasn't just a story. She really didn't care.
For her part Maggie was able to reel in her anger, though it blazed in her eyes. She swallowed her bit and paused for a moment. Then she looked down at her plate and moved some food around on it. "You don't know what it was like." With a sound of disgust, Maggie left her fork drop to her plate with a clatter. She stood up suddenly and grabbed her pack. "Dust off is in 2 hours, don't be late. John, nice to meet you. Ice Queen, get bent!"
With that Maggie whirled and left. Her pack happen to hit her plate and it flew off the table onto the floor, clattering and breaking and pretty much drawing all the attention of everyone around her to her. Lilly shrugged and popped a mushroom in her mouth. "What, she can dish it out but can't take it and it's my fault. Whatever. Anyway, that is my story. I've probably killed off more than my share of Ex-Umbrella scientist and they are probably hoping that the Red Queen, if she is still working, will do them a favor."
Lilly shook her head. "Never happen though. Hell doesn't want me. Satan doesn't need the competition."

"Whether or not that's true we still have a job to do." finishing his meal in his usually quick timing, he stood up, and looked at lilly, "Like I said before, i don't care that your the BSAA's Pariah, you watch my back, I'll watch your's. our enemy will always be the virus's that Umbrella left behind, and those who would use them and further develop them."

"Deal", said Lilly, taking another bite of her steak, savoring the flavor. While John was done with his food, Lilly was taking her time. "I'll meet you at the plane in a few hours. I have to get my gear and check on it." There was just a little that she had to do, grab some extra ammo and mags, check her carbine and pistol and get her gear together in her pack... also needed to pick up some more toothpaste.
As John left, Lilly finished her meal and then policed her dishes and left the cafeteria, still getting dirty looks from several of the agents. She just rolled her eyes. What they thought didn't concern her at all.
== 2 hours later ==
Lilly tossed her back on the ground and checked her weapons again. She had made the effort to go back to the armory and grab 10 more magazines for her MP5 and for 5 more for her Glock. Rounding that off with 300 rounds of 9mm she was ready for almost anything. The sound of footsteps drew her attention to the side of the plane where Maggie was stowing her gear. They exchanged a glare and Maggie and her crew disappeared into the cockpit and go through their start up sequence. Shrugging, Lilly picked up her bags and carried them to the cargo area and stowed them into a secure locker. In the cargo bay, there were several seats that were against the starboard and port side of the bird. A small set of stairs led up to the cockpit and then a small set of stairs led down to the cargo bay where an armored SUV was already strapped in.
Lilly took a seat on the left half way down the row and buckled herself, waiting for John.

((Artemis and Joanna enter))
Once back at headquarters they were back in the briefing room for a debriefing on their mission. Though unlike the first time the group in the room was a lot smaller, it just mainly consisted of Joanna, Wolfe, the Commander, and herself. All the others that were in the briefing of the mission at the beginning were left out this time around.
“The current situation bothers me to now end. To know that we have to deal with ten more individuals like Kyle out there. This is going to take some time to figure out where everyone is and who everyone is.” He flipped through the tablet he held in his hand. “The drive that you gave us earlier also had a lot of information, and compared to what you told us the picture that we have were assuming is everyone that has the same virus as Kyle in them.” He then looked at Joanna and Artemis. “Now on to the other matter at hand, the two of you. Artemis when we took your blood at the beginning it showed minor amounts of the virus in it, but compared to what they took on the ship it seems that the virus is a lot more active. Then there is Joanna who we know didn’t have any of the viruses in her at the beginning. It seems that you have adapted quite well to the virus, and even though the research group tells me the codes to both your viruses are similar they seem completely different. I’m going to assume that would be why neither of you having developed any of the same abilities.”
With the exception of one, Artemis thought. Though she didn’t bring it up in the report, and being that the commander didn’t seem to know about it means that Joanna didn’t either. It was probably a good thing to. What they didn’t know didn’t go in a report and have a chance to get leaked out which also gave them an advantage if it was needed.
"Alright. Is there anything the three of you wish to add?"

"Just a recommendation that Artemis be put into my care Commander." Joanna side looked at Artemis. she felt through their link that she was hiding something, but that it was for an edge on enemies. 'You will tell me what your hiding later.' she sent through the link. the commander sighed, "why?" "Because of our 'link' and because despite her exceptional field record, she lacks basic training in certain area's and requires further training in other area's. alongside that our abilities need to be monitered and tested, and since we will be working in the field together from now on we must find out what can happen when we use our abilities at the same time."
The commander nodded, "Fine, she is now under your care. Dismissed"
as they left the room Wolf turned left at the fork, "Gonna go see Ashley." Joanna turned to Artemis, "come on, Ill show you where you'll be staying."
leading Artemis to the section of the base with private homes, she went up to the door to a small double story house. getting out her key she quickly unlocked the door, opening it and turned to artemis. "Come into my lair."

Artemis had suspected what Joanna's house may have looked like on the inside because of her personality, but when she actually seen it she couldn't help but be socked. In a way it was normal with the rather cozy looking furniture, but the large Amazonian looking spear hanging above the couch the range of swords decorating various shelves in the living room. Down the hall she could see a rather large safe and she could only suspect what type of guns she had in there. She smiled a bit when she seen the surakin hanging up in a glass case in the kitchen. Somehow without even touching the weapons she knew that they were real, and had no doubt that Joanna knew how to use them. She watched as Joanna disappeared down the hall, and she still commenced to searching the area with her eyes. Then something caught her eye on a bookshelf. A picture frame that had a binoculars on one side of it and a scope from a rifle on the other side. Moving over she picked up the picture frame. It was a large group of people with Joanna in the center, and she could tell it was old considering that Joanna wasn't as short as she was in the picture. She counted the people which ranged from what she could tell from American to Russian and seemed to have almost someone from every race if possibly.
She looked up at Joanna as she came back down the hall. "26 family members. I have to admit that I am quite jealous," she said lightly as she looked back at the picture. "With this many brothers and sisters I could only image what kind of training that put you through." She looked back at Joanna as she put the picture up. "Do you still keep in touch with all of them so they don't worry about you?"

"I always keep them close to my heart." she said, bringing out her dog tag necklace, 26 dog tags in total, and lifting an eyebrow at her. she sensed confusion then shocking realization, and smiled sadly. "they were my second family, and they taught me everything they could." she laughed, "You should have seen they're faces when they tried to explain the birds and the bees." she moved to Artemis, gently taking the picture frame, smiled at the picture, remembered, and placed it back in its place. "Ill show you where you'll be sleeping later. for now I wanna show you something I think you'll like." she told Artemis as she went towards the gun-safe. quickly unlocking it she took out a rifle. "I recently Bought this. Its an Ohio Ordnance Works Heavy Counter Assault Rifle. it uses 30.06 calibre ammunition so not only can it hit harder and farther than a 7.62x51, because of the hydrolic buffer system it's recoil is significantly reduced and it also works terrifically suppressed. I was thinking of using it as a battle rifle or DMR. stick a scope with an RMR on it along with a bipod." she sensed confusion, and smiled at Artemis. "You can't carry a dedicated sniper rifle on every mission along with a different rifle. sometimes you have to choose a single rifle that works in multiple roles so you can carry mission specific equipment or more ammunition and explosives." She held it to her, "take it."

Artemis looked at Joanna a bit stumped as she showed her the weapon. As she took the weapon in hand she checked to make sure that the weapon wasn't loaded before bringing it up to her shoulder. She looked down the long barrell eyeing the hallway at the end. It was perfictly alined which she had no doubt that Joanna's weapons were amazingly accurate. She lowered the weapon. She looked at Joanna as her fingers drummed the side of the weapon. She wanted to say that she couldn't take it, but the truth was she really wanted it. Not because it was a beautiful weapon, but because it was being given to her by Joanna. She smiled a bit as she pulled it close. "I think your right about the scope. It would also help with longer range shooting if it's needed." She shifted in her stance. "I will take good care of it. I really don't know what to say in return for this."

"none needed Artemis. its not the only thing you'll be getting from me, and its one of the few things you will probably thank me for." Sensing her confusion made her grin, and she widened their link, showing her all the things that she intended for her. most of it made her pale. after all she did intend to make her learn to swim and swim well. not only that, she intended to put her through training that she had been told was tough enough to "make the devil wince in sympathy". though she fully expected Artemis to be able to keep up.
deciding to have a little fun, she also sent the rest of what she wanted to do to her, and made her blush all over, making her laugh.

Artemis could feel her face burnig from just what Joanna was showing her. She shook her head and turned toward the livinging room. Showing her embaressment was already completly out of the question. She had no control over that, and wasn't even prepared for any of that. She held the rifle in hand for a moment longer before passing it back to Joanna without turning to look at her. "It would be best to keep it in the safe for now," she said lightly. She sighed as she felt the weapon leave her hand, but as soon as it was gone she headed for the living room. Stopping for a moment she sighed again. "What you do is nothing short of mental torture," she as she rubbed her face. It felt hot, and she was sure that it was bright red. At the moment she cursed her more pale complection, because there was no way to hide her embaressment or the fact that her mind was still running wild with those thoughts. She sighed again and shook her head. "So cruel," she mumbled but smiled a bit still at the thoughts lingering around.

"I am cruel, but this kind of cruelty is new to me. Perhaps it's because with you I feel content. Either that or your just so cute when you blush." Joanna told Artemis while she put the rifle away.
When she finished locking the safe, she came up behind Artemis and wrapped her armsaround her waist, laying her chin on her shoulder.
"Strange. It's been so long since I just ... slowed down. I don't remember the last time I wasn't preparing for the next fight."
Turning Artemis around, she gazed upon this woman who despite starting out an enemy, had helped her start to heal.
She smiled gently, "come, ill show you where to sleep. Then we can get started."

Artemis allowed Joanna to lead her to the room where she would be spending her time sleeping. She was hoping that the 'get started' was a line and not meant to mean sleep. Though she was tired her body was jumping, and she realized that she would need something to burn off the excesse adrinalin so she could sleep. She smiled as the thought crossed her mind, and the signs were there so she could only take that chance. If not . . . if her 'get started' didn't mean what she thought she would just have to gravely appologize and try to make her fall for her even more just to reach this level. As the entered the room she was kind of glade that the bed wasn't to big, and it meant if all things went well she could hold onto Joanna. She grabbed Joanna's arm and spun her around stepping closer as she wrapped one arm around the back of her waist, and then she brought her other hand up to caress the side of her face. "Don't get me wrong here," she said lightly as she kissed Joanna deeply. As she did she backed her up until her legs hit the bed and they landed on the bed. "I'm really tired, and want to sleep. But I seem to need someone to help me with that." She smiled as she leaned down once again.
***************
For once as she held Joanna in her arms she felt guilty. This was the first time she had ever done it that it wasn't required to get her target, and this was the first time with someone she loved. Artemis burried her face in between Joanna's shoulder blades in attempt to hid the shame she had in her face. She had never loved anyone like this, and never realized what she had been missing. All her life something was missing out, and maybe it wouldn't have felt like that if she really had parents who cared for her. She held Joanna tightly in what she reconized as fear that after she woke up this would be just a dream.

Joanna slowly woke up to the pleasant feeling of Artemis in bed with her, though that wasn't going to last long.
at least for now.
being gentle, she quickly got out of bed and headed for the kitchen, throwing on some fatigues. by the time artemis came after her, she had already made black coffee and a pot of green tea, and was about done with making breakfast. "don't know what you have, so I made some coffee along with my usual tea. breakfast is scrambled egg with bacon, tomato, onion, chedder cheese and pepper with wholegrain toast. and after that we can get to work on your training."

It wasn't Joanna getting out of bed that had woke her up, but rather the smell of something delicious being cooked. Artemis climbed out of bed and made her way into the kitchen. After pouring herself a cup of coffee she sat down at the table. "Training?" she questioned as her mind tried to wrap around what she was talking about. She found that she was still a little groggy from still being sleepy which surprised her a bit. Even with very little sleep she was never tired when she woke up, but maybe it was her body's way of telling her that it enjoyed the down time for the first time. After Joanna set the food in front of her she finally realized what she was talking about as for training. Bitting her bottom lip for a moment she was a bit reluctent for it. So soon after their mission was done she just wanted to avoid water for the time being. Though she knew she couldn't. She sighed a bit as she took a bite into her food. It was delicious and so much more different than the food she was use to eatting in the lab. It took her no time to finish the food or another cup of coffee. When she was done she helped Joanna with the dishes, and after changing clothes they made their way out of the house.
The morning sun felt different some how, and maybe it was because she was with Joanna. Or maybe it was because she was seeing things in a whole new way. She looked at Joanna as she drove the vehicle to their first stop and it was to get her an outfit for the pool, and then the next stop was the pool. As they changed clothes she couldn't help but tremble at the thought of even stepping foot into the water again. Then as she reached the pool the fear came back to her. She could be on a ship, stand in water, or even be thrown into the water and it wouldn't afect her. Yet after being with Joanna she found herself being awakened to a whole new level of fear, and during the mission she found herself fighting that fear. Once the mission was over she could ignore that fear and let it go, but now that the water stood in front of her again that fear was coming back. Though now there wasn't really a life or death situation that forced her to get over it to continue on, but just mer trainging. She felt Joanna's hand on her shoulder and she looked at her. "I'm having second thoughts about this."
