Virginia, the coincidences just never stopped. That was where they planned on heading next, back east. The further west they got, the worse it seemed to get, the east was even better. Places near the coast, furthest away from Raccoon City, seemed like the smartest choice. But there was no way he could tell Anna that they just so happen to be heading that way, there was no way she would believe it, and all trust would be gone. He wouldnt have believed it himself, had it been the other way around, would be skeptical. "Aiight, yeah, thanks." A bottle of whiskey was something Rabbit didnt have, and could share with the rest of the group. There wasnt enough to make a worth while explosive, or even makeshift fuel, so drinking it wouldve been the better choice anyways.
With the sun nearly all the way down now, and the overcast sky making it even darker, Rabbit figured that if there had been anything out where, it would be nearly impossible to see until it banged on the front door. But at the same time, those walkers wouldnt be able to sense them from inside the house. So long as they were quiet, and they have been the entire time they were here, things would be quiet. "Hey uh, im gonna go out and grab a smoke. Your welcome to, ya know, join if you want. I got plenty." Rabbit wasnt quite sure if Anna was a smoker, but offering never hurt. Standing up from the table, he looked at the little kid, and spoke out again. "Make me the most uncool person in the world to smoke, just dont do it, or youll be uncool like me, hey?"
Grinning slightly, he looked at Anna before leaving the house, closing the door very quietly behind him. It would be good for her to get some time to herself in the house too, with all of his stuff still inside, even his TMP, which is left on purpose. Not like he needed it out here, and he hoped that it might even score some trust points. Rabbit pulled a poorly rolled smoke from his beanie, and then a zippo lighter from his pocket. Putting it between his lips, he licked the end a bit before lighting it up, blowing the first hit from his nose. The herb felt great, especially after the whiskey, seemed like the little things in life were the ones that kept him going, and kept his mind clear. The country air out here was a lot better then the city air, that was for sure. The rabbit needed to slow down and enjoy life, didnt always need to hop from place to place. Leaning on the railing, he watched the trees in the distance sway back and forth, completely mellow.

Anna raised a hand, politely refusing the offer. When Rabbit went on outside, she'd closed the door behind him, not wanting the smell to stick in her house. She'd sighed and picked her glass up, taking it into the kitchen. Jimmy followed closely after, playing with his PSP.
"Are you hungry?" she asked her son, placing the glass in the kitchen sink. The boy shook his head. "No, I just ate a sandwich and some chips. I'm fine, ma," he told her. Anna smiled at him and ruffled his hair a little.
Walking over to the fridge, she'd shuffled through it, not feeling upto cooking anything. Besides, it'd prolly just attract unwanted attention. Instead, she'd went after sandwich makings, herself. Pulling the contents out of the fridge, she'd placed them on the counter and went through the drawer for a spoon and butter knife.
"So what are we gonna do, tomorrow? I don't wanna go back in the city..." the little boy said, frowning.
"We won't...well, not this city anyway. Hopefully Rabbit can convince his buddies to meet us somewhere relatively safe," she explained.
"Huh? So we're going with them, then? I don't feel very comfortable with that idea..." her son mentioned, pausing his game long enough to look at his mother. Anna began placing the sandwich together in a matter of seconds.
"I know, sweetheart. We're only dropping him off. We're not staying with them. Don't worry...wait a sec, weren't you the one to say we shouldn't be so judgemental?" she asked.
The twelve year old shrugged. "Yeah but I didn't expect ya to go. That's crazy!"
The woman laughed slightly. "Ah Jimmy, don't be such a hypocrite...now go take a shower and get ready for bed. Never know when you'll get that luxury again," she informed him. He'd groaned and lulled his head back.
"Alright..."

Part of him was glad that Anna didnt come out to check on him or anything, because he thought about the joint again, and then realized that maybe it was a little much. Especially him being a cop, or CIA, that line of work. About halfway through it, Rabbit but it on his sweater, and then put it back into his hat. Before going for the door though, he seen movement coming from the treeline across the property. It wasnt the wind, this was something else. He didnt investigate, just waited for it to appear, if it would, but was getting a little impatient. Walking off the porch, Rabbit pulled out his folding knife, holding it at his side. Hes dealt with lone infected before plenty of times, and his knife was more then enough to take it out.
As he got to the treeline, Rabbit concluded that it wasnt anything, and just his imagination. He didnt realize how far he got from the house, and how dark it was, he still felt like it was best to check it out rather than ignore it. Even if it had been a long infected, firing a shot would attract more of them, and it would be even worse if Anna heard. Just then, he heard a branch break, and knew it was something. Pulling up his knife, Rabbit defended himself, slowly backing up closer toward the house, just in case it was one of the infected animals. They were quicker then he could run, and a knife wouldnt do when it came to fighting them.
Nothing came out. Was it all in his head? It couldnt have been. But without anything showing itself for at least five minutes, Rabbit put his knife away, and then walked back toward the house, looking over his shoulder every now and again to be safe. The little walk would blow the stink off himself, too, or at least he thought it might. Anna would pick up on it unfortunately, but he wasnt some kind of druggy, it was just a little pot. Getting back on the porch, he opened up the front door, and then closed it behind him. "Yo Anna, I uh, thought I heard something in the trees outside, checked it out just now. Didnt seem like anyone was there, couldnt hurt to check though, right?"

Anna had been in mid-bite of her sandwich when Rabbit walked in, obviously worried. She'd looked over at the door and placed the sandwich down, grabbing at her shotgun. She'd looked upward at the staircase and back at Rabbit again. "I'll go check it out. Stay here with Jimmy, tell him I went out to the barn," she said, slinging it over her shoulder and walking through the door.
She'd stopped and looked back, giving the guy a reassuring smile. "I'll take care of it."
With that, she'd wandered on outside, reaching over to the flashlight in her breast pocket. She'd switched it on and grabbed ahold of the shotgun with both hands while it shown from her pocket. Moving on toward the treeline, she'd stopped, hearing a sudden crunch of foliage. Someone or something, had definitely been in there.
That's when it suddenly gotten quiet. Not a sound besides the whistle of the gusting wind and rustle of the trees that swayed with it. She'd moved further into the trees, glancing side to side for anything that wasn't a tree. Alright....come on out...come on.... she thought to herself as she'd continued in further. She'd knew these small woods like the back of her hand, spent alot of time getting high and drinking here with her friends in Highschool.
She'd moved passed a specific tree, the biggest and widest one in the center. She glanced at it momentarily to see some old carvings in the trunk. Nothing more unusual. Suddenly something had pounced passed her, forcing her to spin around and send off a shot. The loud bang forced out dozens of black birds into the sky above.
Their beedy red eyes had marked their prey from above and before she knew it, they were darting down into the trees after her. "Sh*t!" she hissed, sprinting off toward the entrance of the woods. As she did so, she'd leapt forward, barely evading a rush of crows. Rolling over onto her side, she'd grimaced at the pain in her side, she'd landed on a large, tree root that stuck out of the Earth.
"Ah..''
A loud screech had came from behind her, looking back she'd seen a familiar, reptillian creature lunging at her. Luckily she'd rolled out of the way of it's attack. When it landed in a crouch beside her, she'd smacked it across the face with her weapon and stumbled to her feet.
"Can't fight it here with these f*cking crows..." she grumbled before running off and emerging through the treeline. She didn't want to lead it to farmhouse, so instead, she'd ran down the muddy road into the fields, some of the brids giving chase.

"Yo little man, your moms gone out to the barn to get some shells for the shotgun." Jimmy didnt seem worried at all, and by the way he was laying in his bed, it almost seemed like nothings changed. He was either oblivious to the world around him, or just even more used to it then Rabbit was. His face was stuck in his little game, which was something good to keep him occupied, especially on a long trip across the USA. He didnt have anything like that when he was the kids age, usually just listened to music.
Thats when he heard the gunshot come from outside. "Stay here, and lock the door. Dont leave unless you hear your mom say its safe to come out, iight?" Rabbit wasnt really sure how well Jimmy would listen to him, but as the door closed, there was a little locking sound, which was good enough for him. Running down to his bag, he grabbed the TMP, and then ran outside onto the porch. It was a little dark to see, but the flashlight gave away the location of Anna. The sky had been filled with about a half dozen birds, which would be near impossible to take on without the proper weapon. Moving back inside, Rabbit grabbed the bottle of alcohol from the living room table, and then ran back outside to help Ana.
Anna was running away from the house, but seem to be disappearing into the woods, along a dirt path. Rabbit moved quickly, trying to keep up, and when he did fired off a couple of shots from his TMP at the feathered creatures to get their attention. The moment they all dove for him, Rabbit tossed up the bottle into the air, and sprayed a couple of rounds, which ignited the whiskey into a fireball that erupted the crows. In a matter of seconds, they fell to the ground, cawing in pain until they were dead. "Get back inside before more come, quick!" But as he spoke, Rabbit heard the reptilian growl, looking at Anna with a little less than heroic look on his face. The TMP sway back and forth toward the sound, not quite sure where it would jump out from along the trail.

Anna looked back at Rabbit when the monster she'd been running from had reared behind him. This time two of it's buddies had appeared with it. She'd quickly waved an arm at the man, her eyes narrowing. "Dammit, Rabbit, MOVE THE F*CK OUT OF THE WAY! BEHIND YOU!" she screamed. When he dove aside, she'd took two more shots at the bastards, blasting one of them aside, but not killing it.
One of them had went after Rabbit, the other one pouncing after Anna, herself. The woman backed away and when it was in mid-air, she'd stumbled back and held her shotgun up, barring it infront of herself for protection. The snarling monster clashed into her but not for long. It'd shuffled back a little, pulling it's arm back as it did s, preparing to strike. Anna took the time to take the last shot in her shotgun and shoved the barrel into it's face, pulling the trigger.
More birds had begun to appear from the trees and began circling around it's prey. Anna quickly looked upward and shook her head. "Rabbit! Get back to the house! Now!" she told him.

"No you go, ill cover you!" His TMP still have a good forty rounds left, and another magazine was in his sweater. Anna pumped the last shell from her shotgun, and then finally took off toward the house. Rabbit followed close, but kept his gun trained in the air, and sprayed a couple of rounds every time one of the birds had dove down at him or her. Getting back to the house, Anna moved inside, but Rabbit stay on the porch. He took potshots at the birds, spraying bullets randomly. He didnt worry about ammunition, only that the birds would eventually fly off, giving up on their meal.
It only seemed like a minute before they had begin to fly away, and Rabbit moved back down onto the lawn, looking around to make sure they were gone. "What now f*ckers? What now!?" Obviously a little high, he taunted them flying away. Anna had been calling for him to get back in the house quickly, but he didnt listen, feeling victorious about warning off the crows. As he turned around, Rabbit was struck to the ground by the last remaining reptile creature, which had him pinned on him stomach. The beast clawed at his side once, but was blasted off by another shotgun shell quickly loaded by Anna. Standing up, Rabbit fired the remaining dozen rounds from his TMP before finally moving back into the house.
The door closed behind him, and Rabbit was feeling great. "Hell yeah! Taking out those creatures was pure teamwork, did ya see that? And the crows, how they burst into flames? That sh*t was tight, yo!" But the look on Annas face, no from he gloating, but worry, as he started down at his side. Rabbits sweater had be nearly completely ripped off at the bottom, and blood was beginning to pool at his feet from the four large gashes on his torso. "Aw damn, thats pretty bad, huh?" The weed was obviously having its effect, cutting out the pain, or rather tricking his brain into thinking it didnt hurt. But Rabbit fell back against the ball, passing out from shock.

Anna reached out to grab at the kid but missed him by inches. He'd fell back, out cold from probably the shock of it all. To make matters worse, she heard the screeching coming from outside, two of those monsters were still out there. She'd swore under her breath and knelt down, grabbing underneath Rabbit's arms. He was pretty light for a man, so she easily pulled him away from the door. The sound of footsteps came from upstairs, Jimmy appeared atop of the steps, panicked.
"Mom!" he shouted, hurrying downstairs and throwing his arms around her. Anna held onto him momentarily before gesturing for her son to get to the bathroom. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Go get me the first aid, Jimmy, quick!" she told her son. He'd nodded and scampered off.
When he returned he held a big case in his arms. "I got the emergency one from the basement instead. Grandpa said that he had a stitch kit in here. Or whatever it's called," he said, placing it on the side table and opening it. Anna nodded and began digging through it.
"Alright good. Now go boil some water and bring me some old towels, hon," she said. He nodded again and ran off into the home. A couple of hours later, Rabbit had been properly cleaned and stitched up. The stitches weren't too great but they'd do until they found him an actual doctor or atleast someone who knew what they were doing. Now he was left on the couch with a pillow behind his head and a quilt draped over him.
Anna had been standing aside of the window with her shotgun still in hand. She'd peeked out the window to see the reptillian bastards were still hanging around. One of them had made it's way to their barn where their horses had been.
Luckily the barn was secured and she was sure her dad left enough food for them to eat while he was away...but where did they come from? They had to have had a breeding ground somewhere...maybe the pond on the other side of the woods? But then...how did they get there? Paranoid, the first thought she had was someone intentionally set up this outbreak. That was absurd though...why would they?
The redhead sighed, tiredly and looked at her watch. It was 12:45. Jimmy was sound asleep on the recliner, his earphones still over his ears. She'd looked over at him and moved away from the window finally after about an hour of patrolling. She'd paced back and fourth between couches and finally plopped down into one of them, looking downward at her weapon in her lap.
It was quiet throughout the now dark home. She'd sat back in the couch, looking up at the whirring ceiling fan up above. She began to recap on 1998 Raccoon City. Why did it seem so much easier then? She didn't want to admit it but he was on her mind again. She knew this entire situation would be less lonely and less difficult if he were here with her now. But for all she knew, he was dead now and there was no changing that.
''Why didn't you just stay with me...?" she muttered, feeling her eyes droop. Wasn't long until she'd dozed off.

Opening his eyes, Rabbit seen where he was, and then tossed off the quilt from him. As he moved, however, he cringed in pain, feeling the the bandages, and felt stitches under them. The sunlight was shining through the cracks beside the curtains, figured he mustve been out for awhile. Looking up to find a clock, it seemed to be around eight. The blood on the floor was dry now, and Rabbit was a little confused on what happened. Anna had been sleeping in the chair across from him, gun in her hand, he certainly didnt want to wake her up and get a bullet to the head.
Reaching across to the coffee table, he grabbed the half burnt joint and lighter, quietly moving out of the living room and to the side door he seen in the hall from the kitchen. The cool air felt great on his exposed upper body, and the sunlight was a good sight to see compared to the drearly clouds of yesterday. If there had been anything around now, Rabbit wouldve seen it, the whole area seemed clear. Lighting up the smoke, he inhaled, holding it in for as long as he could before letting it out slowly. After he was finished, he flicked the roach off into the dirt, and then went back inside. Anna stood up from the chair, and turned around to see Rabbit standing their putting on a shirt from his bag. "Thanks for patchin me up, yo. F*cker got me pretty good, but... I dont think its infected, otherwise id be standing here saying 'aughh' instead of thanking you."

Anna yawned and stretched her arms out before rubbing the back of her head. She'd nodded a little and started to the stairs. "No problem, Rabbit....urgh, I'm gonna shower and I'll make something to eat before we get going. You should prolly call your people though so we can hopefully get somewhere safe. I don't want my son to be exposed to anything too dangerous," she said, dragging her feet over to the stairs.
Not long after her shower, she'd gotten dressed in her usual top and jeans. She'd strapped her harness across her shoulders and chest and then clipped her tactical belt across her waist. Slipping her jacket on over it, she'd grabbed at her shoulder, rolling it around in the socket. It was gonna be a long drive to Virginia.
Descending the stairs with a dufflebag slung over her shoulder, she'd dropped it on the couch along with her shotgun. Rabbit had been at the kitchen table rolling a couple of blunts and sticking them into a small box. She'd shook her head and wandered into the kitchen when the phone began to ring.
She'd practically leapt to the phone, hoping nothing nearby heard the loud ring. Honestly, she'd been surprised that the phone lines weren't down. Answering it, she'd heard the sound of her mother's voice.
"Ma...? Yeah...yeah...I'm fine. Uh, yeah, Jimmy's here with me....uh-huh. Does dad know we're here? He wasn't here when we got here last night....oh. Oh thank God, did ya tell him not to come home? Good..." she trailed off, turning her back to the phone hook and sighing.
"I'm about to leave actually....no don't worry...no. Mom, we'll be fine. I can take care of Jimmy and myself, I've done it once, I can do it again. Mom, I promise I'll call you and keep you updated, alright? I charge my cellphone and the signal's still strong. Okay? ...Mom...alright, alright well I gotta feed Jimmy and get packing. Alright, love you too...bye," with that, she hung up the phone and ran a hand through her wet hair.
"Jimmy get up, c'mon."

While Anna was in the shower, Rabbit had called his group, planning a meeting along the highway car away from Ashland. Turns out had been further up the state border, checking to see how far the infection spread across to Ohio. Seemed that the majority of the south had suffered from the outbreak, Kentucky lower being hit the hardest. Had they know that, the group probably wouldve just skipped the state, or went around it, if it was possible. After setting up a meeting point though, Rabbit took to the living room table, and dug out his personal supplies. The remaining time while Anna was getting ready had been spend rolling, which kept his mind off the pain, along with the last few hits from the doob earlier. Normally, he didnt wake and bake, but it was for his own comfort, given his wounds.
When he was finished, Rabbit put the rest back in his bag, and got his own TMP ready for action just in case it was needed. The bag had been much lighter now though, leaving the majority of the food here at the house. There was no doubt that they would be coming back, and when they did, they could stay an extra week without making their first supply run. As Jimmy and his mom came down the stairs all ready to head out, Rabbit opened up the door, walking out onto the patio. "Hey um, dont mean to be nosy, but why Virginia? This farm looks pretty safe, couldnt imagine a safer place for your son." Though it was a good question, maybe it wasnt really any of his business. "Nevermind. My group is parked along the highway, heading east just a couple clicks."

Anna had successfully gotten her son up, long enough to hand him a plastic bowl of cereal and some toast when Rabbit asked why she wanted to go to Virginia. She'd stared at him, oddly before scratching at her cheek. "Virginia's void of any infection, for starters. My entire life is there, my job, my son's school, our apartment..." she explained despite his obvious hesitance to press on any further with the topic.
"I didn't charge my PSP, mom..." Jimmy told his mother, sadly. She'd smiled and ruffled his light brown hair. "I packed the car charger, don't worry, now let's get going," she said glancing over at Rabbit. "You ready? I'm-ma drop you off with yer friends and then we'll be on our way for a supply run before head home."
With that, the mother and son grabbed their things and walked out onto the porch. Jimmy hopped into the truck, turning the key into the ignition, where as his mother had waited for Rabbit to leave before locking up the home. She didn't want any looters rummaging through her father's things.
She'd had in her grasp, a large sign she'd drew up last night, written in red sharpie, ALL DEAD INSIDE, pinning it to the door, itself.

The enitre morning had almost seemed like nothing has changed in the world. It was like another day with no infection. This was different for rabbit to think about, because he knew that it wasnt like this everywhere. The kids worry of the morning had been that he didnt charge the battery on his little game, not if they were going to eat today or not. The two of them, Rabbit and Anna, both lived completely different lives, but he knew the extent of this by now.
By the time he was in the truck, Rabbit was comfortable seated in the back, his duffel bag at his feet. As the truck drove away from the house along the dirty path, he seen a few walkers, but didnt bother wasting any bullets on them. The engine would lure them away from the house either way, and they would lose them once onto the highway. It wasnt a few minutes until they hit the main road, and Rabbit knocked on the window, getting Anna to open it up so he could talk. "Yo, make a left here. Said the RV would be parked under and overpass a few clicks east, no doubt well see it soon." The smoke coming from the city had still been coming up, but in less places. It was without a doubt void of any life by now, but still ripe for the picking had the group been low on anything.

[The group's back at the farm...um, for a good while, promise.]
Anna had eventually ended up back at her father's home. She could tell the two were confused about why they were brought there instead of the city, in which case, she'd grabbed her bag and looked over at the duo. Jimmy pulled his backpack over his back and ran off to unlock the door.
"If the city is too crowded, then I won't chance takin' my kid there. I just called a B.S.A.A. buddy of mine that used to work with me in the CIA, he's gonna get us a chopper, meet us at the Hospital four days from now at about...eh, 7:00 p.m. For now, we're staying here. There's plenty of room and supplies here," she explained.
She'd adjusted the straps of the bag on her shoulder before turning to go back into the house. Doing so, she'd glanced side ways at the woods. That meant having to worry about the damn monsters that came from the woods. No doubt made their way from the lake on the otherside, if the group was intent on staying with her, then they'd have to go clear it out before they get the jump on them. The redhead made note of that and sighed, moving into the home.
Dropping her things infront of the door, she'd brushed both feet on the welcome mat before moving further in. From there, she'd reached over to turn on the living room lights, but to no avail. The power had finally gone out.
"Ah damn," she grumbled, walking into the kitchen. Anna wandered on to the sink and turned the nozzles, the water had still been going but there wasn't any hot water. So the cellphone signals and water were still going, another thing to note. She could always charge her phone in the truck if need be.

After a good hour of talking in the back of the truck, it was more than enough for them to catch up with eachother, and make a plan for what they would do. Rabbit already knew that Anna could be trusted, even if she didnt fully trust him, or his lady friend. As Dani jumped out of the truck, she heard that the chopper would be coming in four days. Oh, jeez, not this again. She thought to herself. She was only concerned with what happened before then. As much as she would like a chopper out of the state, there was a slim to none chance that Anna, or whoever the pilot was, wouldnt take out five random people. That, and there was no was she was going to leave the RV, too many personal belongings. Everything left of the old world was gone to her, but losing what she had in the new one wouldnt be happening, she would have to be dead first.
"Yo Anna, thanks a lot for this. If you need me to make any person runs into the city, dont hesitate to ask, iight? Whatever it is, I dont mind going alone, its kinda my thing. Not really sure what else I can do to help you and Jimmy out, just lettin you know." It probably wasnt much, but Rabbit knew that it was something, and thats what mattered. Dani seemed a little surprised that her friend was sticking his neck out to some random woman and her kid, but couldnt really complain. She secretly gave him a sweetheart look, making fun of his nature to be friendly to people.
Once they figured out the power was off, Rabbit knew that they were right back to where things should be. "Whats that thing Clearwater always says, SNAFU?", Dani questioned. "Situation Normal, All F*cked Up. For real, yo." But when he said it, Rabbit felt a little bad, knowing that Jimmy was in the room. He wasnt exactly sure if the kid was being raised not to swear or not, but it was very, very hard to hold in his words sometimes. Giving the little boy a sorry and questionable look, he spoke out again. "Sh*t, I mean, uhh... Yo Anna, imma go out on the patio and grab a smoke. If you need anything, let me know. Ill tell Dani about what happened last night too, so she knows what to be looking out for."
Dani followed Rabbit outside, wondering if she wanted to hear what he was going to say or not. If it was just walkers, he wouldnt have made such a big deal about it. As Rabbit pulled up his shirt, she seen the bandages, and her eyes opened. But it wasnt worry, it was almost in fun, as her nature always kicked in over the serious tone majority of the time. "Dang, Rabbit! I figured youd get yourself hurt sometime or another, im not even going to ask what happened. Shouldve never left your side, brother." Lighting up joint, Rabbit inhaled, then passed it over to Dani. "Imma tell you anyways. Those uh, f*cking, swamp things. Those motherf*ckers. Yeah."
