Chrysil did as Louis said, keeping the torch trained on the path. The man held his .45 with intense regard, Chrys felt a level of safety rise around her; if anything happened Louis would surely take care of it. The river behind them continued to churn for several more minutes before they were out of earshot, the moans from zombies echoing out of the valley as they were sweapt down stream. Chrysil was cool with that, they'd atract all of the other zombies to them, and away from her and Louis. In fact it'd probably clear out most of the surrounding area of infected. Bonus.
Mist rose from Chrysil's mouth, it was starting to get more cold. They were climbing up a steep slope now that was for sure which would lead to a higher altitude, colder conditions. She felt her feet already starting to freeze a little. One subject that interested her were the trees that were on this area of the foot of the mountain. They still stood straight up but became shorter and short the further up they went, instead of the canopy towering far above their heads they were now getting close enough for Chrysil and Louis to reach up and grab a hold of the lowest branches.
Clearings started to show up here and there, pockets in between trees where you could look up at the snow filled sky and, eventually, look out at the valley below and all of the other surrounding mountains. Chrysil marvelled at their beauty, it was a sight indeed. The cloud cover was so low that you could see the very top of the mountains, it felt as if Chrys was in the largest room in the world, the mountains were the walls, the cloud cover was the ceiling. It was a hell of a bizarre feeling too. She stopped for a moment, letting Louis go on ahead, and looked towards the winding road cut into the mountains; a thin line wound around each of them. What had her attention the most were the faint lights that trailed along the lines. There were around three or four at one time, most of them heading in the same direction. There were still survivors out there, getting out of Raccoon City, the Circular River Community and Stoneville, getting out of the state. Give it another couple of weeks, and this entire state itself would be deserted, the roads around the mountains would never be used. Chrysil turned around slowly, still looking over her shoulder briefly before running to catchup with Louis.
More and more the trees started to become more spaced out and a thick layer of snow lined the side of the mountain. Chrysil looked up from her feet, there was something... a glow, it was only just visible; Chrys guessed she had seen it only by chance, even if you were looking for it you'd miss it. With the glow the shape of the house made a little more sense, the glow must have been coming from deep inside the house so as not to get the attention of zombies. At this rate and incline Chrysil doubted any zombies would be able to climb the mountain though.
"Hey, is that it up there?" Chrys said lightly while pointing up at the house further up, probably a single kilometre out but just visible. She looked down at her feet one more and realised something, the snow had covered up the dirt path leading up the mountain. It must have been the house then, Louis must have known where he was going.

((Is it alright if i join? Magne stars somewhere in the woods, not too far away from the house ) Magne had wandered up into the mountains much by accident. His relative lack of sight meant he wasn't exactly clear on were he was going and lone-behold the Tyrant had ended up in the mountains. While he didn't exactly like the snow, he could handle it. It was too cold and the ice always irritated him, got him agitated. He cocked his head slightly as his sharp hearing heard the moans of Zombies - nothing out of the ordinary but it certainly meant they'd found prey - something to kill. Slowly, the grotesque Tyrant stalked down the Mountainside, pausing slightly he cocked his head again. His clawed feet made large tracks in the snow as he walked. A small light shone in the distance - just say visible beneath the tumours that obscured his vision - and light usually meant humans, prey. He hissed through fangs and set off in the direction of the light, clawed arms down by his sides. He was in hunting mode now. Like his parent Hunter strain, Magne was quick and agile beyond norm. However, in such a location as this he couldn't risk more than a steady jog - he'd run into trees. With hunting firmly in mind, the Juggernaught moved off towards the source, egar to get there and kill something, moving into Arklay Forest where the humans where going. [[Magne is in Arklay Forest]]

[[Continued from here]]She groaned at the wavering motion as they sped over a small ditch, lurching forward with the movement. She looked over her shoulder for a split second, seeing the little girl struggling to sit up straight and stop her head from cracking against the seat in front of her. In a few seconds though, the SUV straightened itself out easily. Nina peeked outside of the window, nodding to Vic as he motioned he was going ahead. Which she was thankful for; she had no clue where they were going--or were going to end up. A couple of little signs littered the side of the road, advertising a trail perfect for hiking and biking. Bumpy indeed, she thought dryly to herself. Nina watched the man turn right onto a small gravel path that led up onto a flattened land with tire tracks all over it. She guessed it was some place people could park their cars off the street and then walk up the dirt path. Nina took her attention back to where they were headed, seeing now the dirty path that led off to the left. Vic made it look so easy on his bike, as if he leaned into the pulls and throes of the makeshift road. The only light was the rising moon, full and heavy in the sky. Nina didn't complain though, it was nice. Though slightly frightening. Things waited out there in that dark; things that wanted them dead. She followed slowly behind Vic along the winding path, heading up and up. To the right was a clearing, the trees making a circle in the clearing. Nina took surprise in the little things. Once more, she looked over her shoulder at Claire who was also staring out at the small clearing. After a moment, Nina spoke up. "Claire, are you okay? Did she hurt you?" She hadn't really had a chance to ask her before, which made her feel bad. The little girl was much braver than Nina had been at her age. Or nearer her age, she supposed. The first outbreak had been so long ago... And Nina had been shipped off to a safe(ish) zone. But this girl, had gone through the apocalypse all her life, Nina believed.

Along the dirt path the two vehicles moved along at a fast pace, an while keeping his balance steady, Vic wiped some blood off from his face. Rolling up into a large clearing, the bike came to a full stop. As close as he came, Vic had parked near a rock. Jumping off of his bike, he saw the SUV pulling up behind him, with not a single zombie in his range of sight, he pulled off a grin. Because off in the distance, he could make out a one level cabin, which deemed to have been at least fourteen years old and well over abandoned. It would be a perfect place to take a rest, Nina would totally agree, and they wouldnt have to worry about the zombies. "You see... Up further in the clearing, looks like a cabin set up under that tall Pine. Leave your SUV here, dont worry, itll be fine."
That being said, Vic jumped back on his bike, and whipped across the clearing to check out the site. He had to be sure there wasnt a single person there, or that it hadnt became a home or a den for a grizzly bear. Parking the bike along side the treeline, Vic scouted the area and took his time. By now, Nina and his daughter were at the front door, and thats when all three of them heard a loud roar. Scrambling inside, Vic blocked off the door. Gritting his and under his breath he swore. "Son of a b*tch... Lets just keep quiet..." But the large, beastly creature had started to riot.

This time, Nina grabbed her pack from the seat, reloading her precious gun as well. Before doing as Vic asked however, she took the time to grab a box of the food they had found. It was intact, though the ends had curled up considerably. Making sure Claire kept close, the two of them, as well as Vic, headed up to the cabin.
It was definitely abandoned; a home to spiders and all manners of bugs. But it was still inhabitable. Upon entering the small cabin, Nina put the box of food down as well as per backpack, though she shoved her gun in the front of her pants. Ever since she had stolen it from the base in Texas, Nina had never allowed the firearm to be far from her grasp. That was when she heard it. It was still in the woods it sounded like, but it had smelled them. Or seen them from afar perhaps. Either way, she could hear it bounding toward their location.
Nina stayed quiet as Victor suggested, though every muscle in her body trembled. A little from fear, but mostly from stress and the fact she was dead on her feet and hungry enough to eat an ox. She had no clue what the creature was yet but it was large. She could tell that quite easily when it came up onto the stoop. It had yet to knock the door in or smash a window... so what was it? Quietly, though slightly unsteady in her steps, Nina walked to a window a few feet down from the front door. She edged over with her head to take a quick peek outside.
Nina almost feinted at what she saw. It was something large indeed. A bear! But by the moonlight, she could see something wrong. Terribly wrong. A chunk of its back was missing, revealing a bent spine. And large pieces of its previously brown fur had fallen to reveal wrinkled and sickly skin. Nina quickly ducked back to press against the wall. The bear had begun to throw itself against the solid oak door. Though strong, it wouldn't hold forever; the wood had grown weak; bowing in slightly each time the beast hurled itself. Nina didn't want to chance it breaking down the door. They all needed to rest, and you can't rest when you're exposed by a broken down door.
Before Nina could think of how to kill, and how to get out there before it broke down the door, the undead bear quieted but not before raking a claw across the outside wall. She ducked back over to the window, daring once more to peer outside. It was slowly, but surely limping off back where it had come. Though not far, I'd say... The blond let out a steadying breath before tiptoeing to Vic and Claire.
"It's gone. But it could come back... We should probably stay quiet," she whispered. She nodded her head toward the back of the cabin.
"We should probably look to see if there's a back door, or something." Nina was very particular when it came to doors. She wanted to know all the exits, or entrances depending on where one stood, and needed to be able to block them off.

The whole time, Vic had been holding onto Claire, making sure she didnt scream from the loud roars coming from outside. This was the first time he had seen an Arklay Grizzly that was as heavily infected as this one. The lack of food out here in the woods made the bear just that much more hungry and willing to get inside and eat them, which was a dangerous combination of brute force and violent instinct. Nina only had a handgun, 9mm, while Vic had the same thing, but his gun was empty. The small rounds would only make the beast more angry, couldnt possibly get through its tough, yet decaying, skin.
Even with a headshot, that would entitled Nina to stand at a close range, and hope she makes the shot, but there wasnt any room for error or she would be ripped to shreads. This meant they either had to run, or die trying. "Dont worry Claire, hes going away, see? Nina, we have to get out of here, he probably just sensed something else close by, another animal maybe..." Moving to the back of the small cabin, Vic saw that the door had been previously ripped off, and now nailed back on, making escape from this side impossible unless they wanted to make a ton of noise trying to get those nails out. This meant they had to get out through the front door, but much time did they have? "...The food. Lets use the food as a sort of bait."

Another steadying breath, and another before she followed Victor toward the back door. It was hopeless, she saw that as well. A closer inspection of a few windows showed those nailed down as well, a few planks, through rotting, had been nailed over a couple of them too. Whoever had lived here before was long gone. She heard him mention that something else had probably caught its short attention and gave a nod of her own. But to use the food as bait... Maybe there was something in here to use instead of their own supply. And no matter what bait they used... How long would it give them to run to the SUV? And Vic getting on his bike. Another breath.
Nina went back toward the box of food and rummaged around for a moment. There was a package of imitation tuna... That might work for a moment. She continued to rummage around in the contents. A can of some kind of sloppy joe, which she didn't want to part with, some nutri-grain bars... She grabbed a few of those and tore the package open with her teeth, munching as she pilfered. The fruit like filling was slightly stale--but it was food. Edible all the same. She scarfed down two of them quickly before plucking out a container of seasoned veal. That tuna and the veal was all Nina, personally, was willing to part with. Not because of what it was, but because they needed to hold onto as much as they could.
"I hope wherever you're planning on taking me and your daughter is close, because I need sleep. Even if only for three hours. So do you." It was easy to take note of the hollow beneath his eyes, and she could have sworn she noticed him having to concentrate to focus. She knew she was having to lately. We need to hurry, she thought to herself. Nina closed the flaps of the box back in place and picked up the package of old tuna as well as the container of veal, holding one in each hand.

"Yeah, its not much further, actually. Can get your SUV close enough, so long as we take the path. We can take the woods straight through to my log home, about a ten minute drive tops. Only problem is that damned bear outside just waiting for us to make a move..." Claire had been falling asleep, still holding onto Vic. She definitely wouldnt be able to stay on the bike with him, so once again, she would go int he SUV with Nina. He could go slow enough so Nina could keep up with him, and use the highbeams to see through the treeline, it all works out in the long run. They just needed to make a move as fast as possible, and that bait looked like it would work. "Okay, so im gonna open the door, and your gonna throw it as far as you can away from your SUV. Then we make our move, keeping a close eye on the surroundings. All you gotta go is get Claire in with you, and then follow."
It wasnt like they had a choice in the matter, they just needed to get out of here. The dirt path was the easier route, and the only logical one when its this dark under the trees. So in the next few seconds, they would have to rush, go for broke, take a chance. Vic opened up the door, and nearly pushed it off its hinges when Nina chucked the food a good distance away from them in the woods. These was a shuffle, and then a loud roar. That was the sign. All three of them ran off away from the cabin, and toward the vehicles. Claire was helped into the front seat, while Nina was already inside and had the SUV started. Vic sprinted across the clearing and was about to get on his bike, until the large beast ran out from the trees, barging himself into him, knocking him to the ground.
Just then, a gunshot filled the air, and the bear fell flat onto the ground, half of its head missing. Vic was dragging himself away from the scene, jumping to his feet with his baseball bat raised up. The SUV was already driving up the dirt road north, unaware at what happened. Who on earth took the shot? If it wasnt Nina, then it mustve been someone close nearby. [Enter Arcian Griffin]. "Go catch up with your girlfriend, ill cut through the woods..." Vic didnt ask any questions, just got onto his bike, and zipped off to meet the SUV further up the road, nodding his head in thanks at the man holding a rifle in his hand.
Upon driving up beside the SUV, Vic signaled once again that he would cut ahead of them with the same hand gesture. He focused on the road, but also though about who the hell that guy was. He seemed familliar somehow, but at the same time, dangerous with that gun. The way he referred to Nina almost seemed as if he had been following them, somehow. However, if he wanted to kill them and take their supplies, he would have done so already. The man was right though, taking the woods on foot would get you their faster, but did that mean he knew where they were going? Nothing made sense, all Vic could do was just drive, and see what the future holds for the mysterious man and them.

She understood the plan. It was a good one, very good in fact. Nina let out a sigh as she put the backpack on her back and asked Claire to please grab the box. She was stronger than she looked, Nina thought. Probably months, years, grabbing such boxes. As soon as Vic opened the front door, Nina darted out quick as a cat on speed. Off in the distance, she heard faint snarling and dark growling. Ignoring her fear, the blond threw the two containers of food, after opening them of course as far from both their vehicles as she could. Nina secretly hoped one would pop it in the head. Either way, it roared and bellowed. Claire caught up with Nina and both scurried into her hulking SUV.
She hadn't seen Vic take off before her, but he had passed her once before so no second thoughts were given. The vehicle roared to life and quickly went along the path, dirt and gravel flying. Her heart was hammering in her small chest. Being bitten and perhaps devoured by an undead was one thing... But a mauling by a bear, an especially vicious one, was not on her to-do list.
Nina was nearly too far up the path to hear the gun, almost. She dared not pause though, but merely yelped to Claire,
"What the hell was that?!" Her voice came out strained with worry. The little girl answered back in an even higher pitch that she didn't know and she wanted her daddy. Nina felt her heart strings tug, realizing that once again Nina had left Vic behind. She wouldn't blame Claire for resenting her, not in the least. Those thoughts were quickly put from her head though, as she heard the familiar sound of the bike revving beside her. She couldn't help but to smile happily when she saw Vic motioning to her. Nina slowed down a little to allow him to pass and followed him further up the path.
She was worried still, yet. What had that sound been? She knew Victor didn't have that kind of firearm to make such a ka-pow... So what was it? Nina pushed back those thoughts as well and simply focused on surviving. So far, she was doing pretty damn good.
[Sorry for not furthering the story, I'm tired as balls. :/ ]

The bike drove through the dirt path, easing over the bumps and ditches that rain washed away through it. The night was coming to an end, as the sun rose up over the horizon, marking a new day among the living. But you wouldnt be able to see it through the trees, least not for another few hours. They were another few minutes away from the house, just another few minutes until they could finally get to settle down. Plus, with that man entering the scene now, who knew how things would turn out. Maybe he was from the military, an old friend, even the BSAA, nobody could really tell for sure. He was dressed in a black hoodie, with dark, dark green cargo pants. Vic wouldnt be able to forget it, and his voice.
Within a short amount of time, Vic, Nina, and Claire had all pulled up to the log home. Just as predicted, the man had been sitting against the porch, instantly getting up and approaching the group. But Vic jumped off the bike and walked in front of him before he could get any further, and then just went into the backseat and grabbed a few bags. The man had taken from from Vic, and walked to the front door, obviously he was offering to take them. Looking at Nina, Vic wanted her to keep a close eye on him as well, which was more then likely what she was going to do either way. Looking into the front seat, Vic could see Claire curled up, fast asleep. He picked her up, and then walked her to the front door, waiting for Nina to open it up for him. But the man was already inside, doing god knows what.

After parking, her hands rubbed at her aching eyes and her muscles were screaming at her. She had taken that community in Texas for granted. Never before had she gone 24 hours without sleep. Let alone days without real food. Nina marveled at Victor and his little girl. She climbed out of the SUV and adjusted her backpack. That was when she saw the man perched on the porch.
Nina stopped in her tracks, eyeing him curiously. Though her trigger finger was itching. Vic hadn't mentioned anyone being at their destination--which was apparently this abode. When he plucked the sleeping girl from the seat, Nina stared at him, hints of anger in her gaze. What was he playing at? She stayed quiet for the moment and grabbed the box Claire had carried when they had escaped the bear.
Nina followed Victor up to the door and swung it open for him to let him carry Claire in. As he passed by her, her hand swung up to grasp his forearm.
"We need to talk." She had tried to keep the icy chill from her voice, in case Claire wasn't actually asleep. Nina followed in after them and sat the box of food near what appeared to be the living area. Her eyes cast about in the darkened room for the stranger, not knowing what to expect. She left and came back into the house a few more times; each time carrying a box of goods they had taken from the grocery store. That seemed ages ago. On her last trek outside, Nina swung her pack off her shoulder and rummaged for another magazine clip. With a flick of her wrist, the used clip fell from the gun and into the pack which she had lowered beneath it. After placing the backpack on her back once more, the blond shoved the replacement clip into her gun, locked it and cocked it.
With her other hand she slammed the trunk shut and stuffed her keys into her jeans pocket. She didn't want to feel this angry with Vic. He had seemed slightly surprised to see the figure on the porch as well, though he hadn't seemed to complain when the man entered the house. It made her wary. With many thoughts running through her head, Nina went back inside the house and sought out Victor, all the while keeping her eyes out for the man she didn't know.

After hearing what Nina said, Vic had instantly taken Claire up the steps, and then lay her inside her room on her bed. It was clearly marked as her room with all the pink around. But before getting her tucked in, the father took off her backpack and headphones, laying them at the end of the bed for whenever she woke up. With that, he pulled the blankets over her, and then walked out of the room, closing the door lightly as possible. Once he got back down to the lower level, Vic took off his jacket, hanging it up on the rack by the room, giving Nina a look of confusion. He knew there was something wrong, but this guy, everything happened so fast. "He saved me... The bear attacked me back at the cabin, and this guy shot it in the head from a good distance away. Couldnt killed me if he wanted to, but there something different about him..."
In that moment, Arcian walked out from the kitchen area, admiring the inside of the house. It was clever, being all the way out here in Arklay. Away from all the zombies and chaos, where you can pretty much just live in peace, for the most part. However, Arcian knew he had to explain himself to the group, there wouldnt be any secrets. Not about who he was, anyways. "Hes not a liar, chica, yout boyfriend tells you the truth. The names Arcian Griffin, BSAA South American Branch. I didnt mean to bother you like this, I just couldnt stay away from two survivors. Its not often pretty ladies like you last this long, you sir must be one hell of a casanova. But it seems you have a place to stay thats safe for you and your little girl. She is your daughter, isnt she?"
"...Wait, BSAA? Why would you be following us?" Vic spoke, ignoring the other comments. Arcian made an assumption. Even if the little girl wasnt this mans daughter, she wasnt alone. But he could tell by looking at his face that he was indeed the father. Sitting down on a chair pulled up from the kitchen, Arcian rested his rifle against the wall, and placed his hands inside the empty pocket in the front of his hoody. "...Look, you dont have to trust me, but im here to help you. Thats what the BSAA does, they help people. Or at least whats what I thought. Your not the only one living up here in Arklay, you know. Theres another house about two miles into the woods. Not sure if you know the family or not, but im good friends with them."

She closed the front door quiet as a mouse, always cautious of making extra noise... unless it was gunfire of course. She needed to restock on ammo soon. Besides the mag in her gun, there was one more inside her pack. How long that would last her, she didn't know. Nina stepped up beside her fellow survivor and followed him into the living room--her mood still icy cold. That was, until, the other man calling himself Arcian introduced himself properly.
So it wasn't true; these two gentlemen didn't know each other it seemed. Nina finally exhaled and did her best to ignore the man's comments about them being an 'item.' This was not the time, or the place for such things. Setting her gun on a rickety table, Nina slumped against the wall and slid down to sit comfortably on the floor. What's BSAA? Obviously, it was some organization. And Nina would take all the help she could get.
"I'm no one's girlfriend... Arcian. Whoever you are. We just happened to run into one another while scavenging for that food you no doubtedly saw." Her eyes narrowed toward him from her seat on the floor. And as an afterthought,
"I'm Nina." What he said about other survivors, was it true? Besides those in Texas, she had seen none (except for maybe that man she had shot out of mercy). Groups may not be the best circumstance though--less food, shorter patience. Again, the blond let out a steadying sigh. Her question was to either male.
"What do we do now?" Besides sleep and eat, that is, she added to herself.

So she isnt taken, huh? Looks like my lucky day... Arcian sat up from the chair, grabbing his rifle, and then looked over at the other man who hadnt introduced himself. Names werent important, but it made things easier. However, Arcian had already caught his name from a previous encounter. Or rather, when he was following them in the shadows, do to speak. "So, Victor, is it? I think you and your lady friend here should get some rest. I can keep watch outside for the night if you need, or I could just take off. Its up to you, im just the guest here..." Arcian didnt mind staying out for the rest of the night, the sun was coming up anyways. He had a few days before his own business needed to be taken care off, but for not it could wait. He wanted to stick with this survivors, make sure they stayed alive. Not that he was anticipating death from their obvious experience. "I dont think you need to, usually stays pretty empty up in these parts. But if your willing to help out, then sounds like a good idea to me. How about you, Nina? Agree?" But the female didnt look to enthused by Arcian, she probably didnt care less, so long as he didnt try anything funny. Sure, Vic was still weary of the guy, but if he was BSAA, then his help would be an honor. "Shouldnt you be with your unit, or something, Arcian? Theres gotta be more of you, right?" It only made sense that he wouldnt be alone, he must have a partner, at least. Nobody survives on their own, even with given experience, not out here in Arklay and certainly not on the streets of Raccoon City. "Yeah--no, just me. Ive been with other survivors, not normally alone like this. Might just be another reason to stick around, close to other people. Im a people person, very much into people. Especially ones that are as striking as you, Nina!" Through the sentence, Arcians tone changed, and look shifted towards Nina. But he didnt see a pretty face, he saw a gleeming red face that took over his vision. Quickly looking away, the photographs on the wall had all began to merge together, and things started to slow down. Quickly moving to the front door, Arcian turned back to the group as best he could, and focused on Victor. "Ill let you two get some rest... Ill be just outside, if you need me... Laaater!"He showed no signs of discomfort on the outside, but Arcian was ready to puke. Cheerfully, however, he winked at Nina before leaving the house, closing the door almost silently. Stepping out onto the deck, he learned over the edge railing, and gasped to himself. The cool air outside made him feel better, but his vision was still get. Reaching inside his pocket, Arcian pulled out a small bottle, and opened the cap. Popping two pilled into his mouth, he chewed them up, and then swallowed them. Within minutes, he felt his vision going back to normal, looking back at the door. It wasnt a matter of choice, Arcian needed to be with these people. If he had another episode, and nobody was there to help him, he would find himself in a jam. Sticking with these survivors or leaving them was a life or death situation, at least for the next few days... ~~~Play while reading past here~~~
~~~Play while reading past here~~~ "So, you take my bed, while I take the futon here. Bathroom is just down the hall if you need to wash yourself off before going to sleep, the water is clean. Electricity is limited, so if you need to turn on the light, make sure to turn it off before going to sleep..." Vic had showed Nina around the house, giving her the layout of the place. Kitchen, the food now packed away on the shelves, the mini-fridge, his room where she would be staying, and then backdoor for emergencies. He also showed her the garage from the window, and welcomed her to use it if she woke up before him. After everything was said and he was sure that Nina felt at home, Vic spoke out in a softer tone, a caring one. "...If you need anything else, please, dont hesitate to ask me." Vic added a smile. He wanted to make sure Nina felt comfortable. When Vic closed over the door, he silently and slowly walked back to the living room, and sat down on the futon. Breathing lightly to himself, he sighed. The truth was, he was very much tired, but he wouldnt be able to sleep. He hasnt slept in days, it was something he stopped doing altogether. Grabbing a small picture frame from the table, Vic looked at it with deep eyes. It seemed he was staring at it for hours, much like he did every night. Tears began to stream down his face, gazing into the eyes of the woman in the photograph. Then turned to the right, Vic could almost picture her sitting there beside him. Almost feel her resting her head on his shoulder. This was the reason he couldnt sleep, he was terrified of reliving that nightmarish event over and over, just as it plagued his dreams over the last few months.
As he spoke and even flirted with her, Nina couldn't help but to roll her eyes. This guy was no casanova, though he tried hard enough. At his proposal of staying, she didn't care either way. Sure, she was grateful he had saved Vic's life, but she didn't know him, or know what BSAA was. But Victor didn't say no, and this was his house, not hers. She gave a slow nod of her head and waved at Arcian as she exited the living room in a most peculiar manner. Something was up with him, that was obvious.
Afterward, Nina followed after Vic, looking in all the rooms he showed her. It was impressive, she had to say. And running water! Oh thank the heavens, running water. Before he had a chance to go back to the futon, she smiled at him.
"Thank you." What else could she say? Nina scurried to the bathroom, fiddling with the dials on the sink before laying a towel on the floor at her feet. She didn't dare take a shower, not wanting to waste any water or chance waking the sleeping Claire. She removed the torn shirt from her jeans pocket and tossed it over the back of the toilet. Nina removed the rest of her clothing and washed them as best she could.
Putting them over the edge of the tub, Nina grabbed what appeared to be Claire's shampoo with a little seal smiling on the front of the bottle. She couldn't help but to grin at that. After a time, Nina was as clean as she could get given that she had just washed herself from the sink. Nina put on the shirt she had taken from the fire department and grabbed her boots. The sun had begun to peek up over the high trees, but that's not what she was watching when she looked out the window. Arcian was down there, staring out into the still slightly darkened woods. He made her nervous. Nina sighed and realized just how exhausted she was. The blond trudged to the room that Vic usually slept in, dropped her boots and fell onto the bed, not bothering with the sheet.
"Sweet dreams," she said to no one. Nothing short of being eaten alive could have woken her now.
