"Welcome staff and fellow employees, new recruits. I could stand up here and give you a short history lesson on the upstart of this company, but if you dont know what we stand for, then youre in the wrong building. Bio terror. We stand against it. We help familys make the transition where FEMA cannot. Juristiction doesnt apply. We are TerraSave. Because Terra, doesnt have to end with Ist. Thank you." The older gentleman stpped off the stage, and was replaced by a female. Madison almost rolled her eyes. The slogan used for the company was the worst, but she wouldnt ever talk behind their back because of all the good they do for the world since the rise of bio terrorists. If a bad slogan was the price they paid, it was worth it.
"Our first guest speaker comes from an agent of the United States Biohazardous Security Assessment Alliance. Please, everyone, welcome Third Division Priviate, Arcian Griffin." Madison clapped several times, as did everybody else, being polite but not making too much noise. When the man stepped out onto the stage, she was surprised at how overdressed the soldier had been. It was obvious that it was some sort of representation of how the soldiers are usually dressed for combat, but it just seemed almost out of place. Still, she didnt question it, because it made its point clear.
"How many of you here actually have experience with Bio Organic Weaponry first hand? Anybody?" Looking around, Madison seen a small number of hands go up, Sams included. "How many of you killed any?" Now this was getting very out of place. It wasnt formal at all, but still, the man was definitely making his point. Seeing how Sams hand was still raised, it really showed a lot more about her background than words would ever. Only her and a small handful of others kept their hands raised. "More than half of you here are going to die." She couldnt believe what she was hearing. The audiance started talking amongst themselves, but another man came out on stage, and stood next to the soldier, grabbing the mic from in front of him. "Uh. We wish you all the best, and thank you for the support youre going to be giving us in the months to come. Oh, and sorry we couldnt get Chris Redfield here to talk with you."
Madison looked over at Sam, not really sure what was going on, but it seemed like the first speaker had been drinking, or something. Before she could get any response out of Sam, the first lady came back out and spoke. "I apoloize for this, everyone. Please remain calm, the issue is being handled. We will reschedual to have the others speak tomorrow. You may all exit up the stairs and attend the reception for another hour before. Thank you for coming." The woman was embarrest, to say the least, but at least they didnt have to sit here for too long. Still, it was a little unsettling.
In the lobby, Madison chuckled to herself, and then looked at all of the people moving down the hallway to where the reception was set up. She wasnt interested in going, and if Sam wasnt either, they could go and do whatever from here. If it was another hour on top of the already half it should have been, then they had some free time. "That was pretty intense, huh? Is the BSAA always like that?"

Sam wasn't particularly shocked by what the man had said. If they were put into dangerous situations, then they probably did have a good chance of not making it back alive. It was the nature of the organization itself. While she was thinking this, she didn't speak it out loud. She knew it would freak out Madison and anyone else really, so she just plastered a smile on her face that she hoped was convincing.
"Yeah, hard to say how bad it is for them huh? I guess they have the rough part of the job, and we get to go in once they're done cleaning everything up."
She saw through the crowd the man speaking heatedly with someone else, looked to be one of the executives. She really wanted to speak to the man. She wasn't sure if he would remember her, but she certainly remembered him.
"I want to know why he said that, don't you?"

Madison wasnt entirely sure what the BSAA actually did, other than militarize over seas like the others soldiers. The Canadian Armed Forced never did anything like that, nor did they have any part in Bio Organic Warfare, or anything like that. They were just peacekeepers, and always will be. It didnt even interest her, the USA always had a strong military, so it was safe to say the BSAA was the same way. But since they didnt have anything else to do, and it seemed Sam wanted to talk with the guy, it would definitely make for an interesting conversation. "Sure, yeah, okay. Lead on, then."
"To hell with this, ill be in the parking lot." Arc pushed past the man, not wanting to hear anymore. While he walked away, Vega remained to smooth things over. "Griff told me he had a speech planned. I had no idea he was going to be giving these new recruits the hard truth, sir. Lets talk in your office. He'll be fine, dont worry. Just not good around people. He only just got back four days ago." Arc could hear Lucas talk, but he was drowning out from the people. Once outside, it was much more quiet, and he went far enough into the parking lot to where nobody would bother him, or look at him. Coming here was a bad idea, and he was just starting to realize how badly he was fitting back into the real world already. After getting back to the truck, Arc lifted off his vest, and threw it in the back, along with his unloaded sum-machine gun. From the corner of his eye, however, he seen two ladies walking his direction.

Sam had almost lost the man as they made their way through the crowd. As much as she wanted to follow the other BSAA agent, she needed to find the speaker. She knew him, and believed what he had said, or the very least that he believed what he said was true. To her that was just as important, since something he saw in the field had to have made him that way.
"Griffin! Wait up! You're not running off again like you did in Raccoon City!"
If he didn't recognize who she was, then she was going to give him a reminder. She needed to know what he knew, and hoped eh could at least tell her what was going on, and why he was here in the city.

"Wait, hold on, you know that guy?? From Raccoon City??" The confused response was much more than just confusion, it was almost startling. To think that Sam actually was a survivor of Raccoon City was enough to make sense why she was here, but that one of the BSAA guest speakers had been recognized by her was another. Madison believed in coincidence, but there could have been more here, especially how things ended back in 1998 for the once kyscraped midwestern town.
The pair continued into the parking lot, Sam following much after than Madison could even keep up without excerting herself. Whatever the rush was, hopefully it was nessicary, and they didnt end up drawing attention to themselves. But once she seen the man, she hoped that they werent going to get an earful. An earful never came, instead, worse. Soon as Arc made eye contact with Sam, he spoke out in a menacing tone of voice. "I dont know anything about that, and I dont know who you are. You need to leave."
Madison backed away like a nervous child protecting themselves from a dog behind a fence. Only there was no fence, and it he looked much more dangerous than any dog. Sam on the other hand was too persistant. Maybe stupid, she couldnt tell because she didnt know her very well, but based on the situation alone, Madison knew they needed to listen to him. The soldier stepped toward, and cowardly as it mightve been, Madison backed away even more. She was a pacifist, and in her mind, something was about to go down. "Say it out loud, your friend dies. Ill find you. Then we talk." With that, Arc shoved the woman to the pavement. He then got in the HumV, slamming the doo, not happy about the theatrics, but it was the only way he seen to get her to be quiet in front of the other TerraSave employee.
As she went forward to held Sam back to her feet, and make sure she wasnt hurt at all, Madison watched as the soldier drove away. "What an asshat! We need to tell somebody about this, Sam. That was serious f*cked up, and you know it." Madison didnt hear what he said to her, but knew it couldnt have been very good if it merited an assault, so she didnt need to ask. It slipped her mind about what she said moments before about Raccoon City. Madison was too frustrated and annoyed that a soldier would disrespect a woman like that.

Samantha had been shake, but she understood what the man had told her. All those years being silent, and now she was being an idiot. Simply because she worked for a company that was trying to undo the damage Umbrella had done did not mean she was safe from what the former company could do to her and others.
"It's alright. Let's just get back inside, and see what we're going to be doing from here."
She gave the woman a nervous smile, and brushed herself off as they went back in. She wanted to look over her shoulder at the man, but she thought better of it, guiding Madison into the office again and working their way through the milling crowd.
"Hey, at least there's a lunch afterwards, right?"

Not long after the women left, Griffin put his hands on the hood of the humvee, and sighed to himself. It was definitely her, the same one from before, and she was going to make things difficult if she didnt keep her mouth closed. The both of them had a good thing going, being above ground, and Griffin wanted to keep it that way. Far as he could tell, she was going to be smart about it, but it might be only a matter of time before she shared her story with whoever was with her. If that happened, it would only put her at risk too. Knowledge was what got people killed. But the fact was, they didnt need to be under the radar. If hunters from the former company wanted them dead, they would have gotten to her already, but that wasnt to say they didnt already. Griffin had questions too. Now all he needed to do was wait for the right time to meet up and ask them.
"Seriously, Sam, we need to report that guy to human resources, or something. I know its our first day and all, but this is real. It might not be a good start to a job, but its the right thing to do." Madison walked with Sam to the offices again. It was a lot quieter in the halls, but the noise from the lobby could still be heard. "You two arent getting into trouble already, are you?" Looking back, Madison seen it was one of the other employees of TerraSave. She glanced back at Sam, knowing she was able to speak for herself, but this was something that was her choice, and Madison would respect that, "No, not really. Just bad at parties." With that, she moved into the offices, sitting down in her chair, waiting for Sam to come back. Maybe she would say something about it, maybe she wouldnt.

Samantha waited until Madison had left and simply waved off the man, putting a smile onto her face. She was going to have to handle this, but she didn't want to involve HR or make her new partner suspicious.
"We were just a little rattled by the...um...speech that we first got. I guess we are just eager to get to our first assignment, get the first oen under our belt, you know?"
She headed back towards the offices as well, and saw Madison there at their desks waiting. It was time to get down to business, and do what they were there to do. Sitting down, she logged into her computer, and made sure everything was setup. With that done, she raised her head, and was about to speak to the other woman when she saw their supervisor coming their way with a few manilla folders in his hand. She nudged Madison and pointed to the man, her attention focusing on him.
"Looks like we didn't have long to wait on our first assignment huh?"

Madison thought a lot about what was going on with the BSAA agent, probably a lot more thinking than she should have. That was always one thing she did too much of, and it usually just ended up impairing her judgement. They didnt need that at work, especially if it was something that was going to need a calm mind. The irony didnt slip past her.
As Sam came back into the room, she let the door swing ajar, and then sat down, jumping right into computer work. Madison wanted to say something, but really just couldnt think of what to say exactly. It was the nudge that put her mind on track, and she was ready. They might have been off to a little bit of a rough start, but once they took off, they would be airborn for quiet awhile. "If you have any questions, direct them to the team leader, im only the delivery guy." The man spoke, grinning and then walking out, leaving the door as it was before.
After grabbing the envelope, she took the liberty of opening it up, and glanced it over. They may have all had relitively the same training when they signed up for TerraSave, but it wasnt all just about training, they were chosen for their prior experience. It was no secret, or maybe it was, that Sam already had experience in this field, but Madison had a different skillset. "This isnt exactly what I was expecting. Here, take a look at this." She handed over the photograph to Sam, and then summed up the documents that were attached. "Says his name is Rafael Fiar Paulo. He was involved in an incident a couple of months ago in South America. Hes fifteen years old. Oh, uh. He was, um, orphened. They want us to talk to him, wow."
Madison handed the rest of the documents to Sam, hoping she would read them over so they could get a better understanding of whta it was exactly they were suppose to be doing. This was definitely not what she had in mind for a first assignment, but if this was what they had lined up for them, then this was the job they were going to do. "Guess they mustve noted my own files. I was a guidence counceler back for my old highschool. I know, im only twenty five, but I was from a small town, and I knew a lot of the kids I worked with. I dont think TerraSave took into consideration that I really dont like kids all too much. Read the part about him being a child soldier?

Sam read through the file, and visibly cringed when she got to certain parts. The things this child had been through already, it made her experience in Raccoon City look like a trip to Disneyland. She put the folder down and closed her eyes, trying to think of how they were going to handle their first case.
"Alright, so we are definitely going to need the kids gloves for this one. It's a good thing we have your experience in dealing with kids, this might be a tough one. Not sure exactly what we will be able to get out of him, or help him with. But hey, we should do our best to help him in any way we can."
She stood up, gathered her things, and motioned for Madison to follow. It was time they got to work.
"Come on, let's go see Rafael. Where does the file say he is at?"

Reading over the file one more time, Madison pulled out her smartphone, and punched in a few keys, all the while talking to Sam. "Hes across the city, at a temporary living quarters, whatever the hell that actually means. Ive never really dealt with people who had this much trauma in their life. Worst I had was just daddy issues, this is just, I dont even know. Bert Avenue, thats where were going. You drive, ill navigate." Madison could have easily switched the roles, have herself drive and Sam could lead them there with the app on her phone, but she wanted to go over the file as well. Every detail was helpful.
By the time they reached her truck, it was hard to tell exactly what was going through Sams head. There had been a good reason they were the ones dealing with this, but the file didnt say anything formal. Was the kid going to be staying with them? Or was this just some sort of pep talk? She would hate to think the former, but the latter seemed too easy, there were plenty of people that could talk to the kid, not send her all the way from Canada to do something like this. "Says more details will be given by the BSAA Agents that found him. Im really hoping that this is just us trying to talk positives into him, but if the kid was really that much of a threat to anybody, theyd tell us, right? It says he couldnt be placed into adopted parents custody for agression, but I know they tend to blow those things out of proportion. Still, fourteen years old, and here it says hes kill seven people."
Along the drive, Madison was pondering the thought of what she would do if she had to adopt him. Her small one bedroom apartment wasnt really going to cut it, but she could manage so long as Rafael wasnt too much of a handful. She didnt know whether she should be relieved or scared thta he didnt even have a psych evaluation, but being underaged, it was always a tough call, especially given the situation. "How much have you seen exactly, Sam?" The question might have caught her offguard, and maybe it was inappropriate, but clearly she landed this job for a reason, too.

"More than I care to admit. I'm glad that I made it out with a few people, but yeah I think I can understand a little about what this kid has been through."
Sam didn't want to admit any more than that. She wasn't sure if Madison was prepared to understand and accept that Umbrella had killed thousands of people, and the truth still wasn't completely out there. She started looking through the file, trying to get an idea of how they were going to handle this. She didn't want to walk into the room and not have a plan. That was how bad things turned into even worse things.
"Okay, so what are we thinking? Are we going to try and pump him for information, because I don't think that would be the best idea. I'd like to make sure he has everything he needs, and we have him someplace where he feels safe. This place they have him in, probably doesn't fit those requirements."

Madison figured the best thing they could do would be to treat this like any other orphen case. It had already been a week or so since Rafael was in the United States, but clearly being around other soldiers wasnt in their best interest. Sam was right. "I say we talk to him like a normal kid. Hes already passed the stage where he needs to adjust, so it wont be as bad as we think. First thing we need to do is honestly just make him feel like he can trust us, and bring him to my place, or your place. Get him sorted out. Still find it pretty strange, this whole bringing your work home with you situation is extreme with TerraSave.", she went on, knowing that Sam agreed. But their line of work was far from normal, and Madison was starting to see that now. But not regret it.
As they arrived to the BSAA safehouse, it was clear that it was just a normal house in a dead part of town. It wasnt the highest income, there werent many neighbors, but it didnt seem all too bad of a place. "This it. Looks nice.", Madison commented, without trying to come off sarcastic. As the women got out, they seen one of the agents posted outside, and as they pulled up, they could see he said something into his radio. "Take it youre the caseworks? Great, lets get you inside right away.", the man spoke as they got out of the vehicle. The first thing Madison noticed as how he still had his gun with him. Soldier were soldiers, but it wasnt too concerning, but unprofessional when they were dealing with a child coming from a history with guns. "Hey wait, you need to leave your guns outside. I know Rafael will feel more comfortable not being around them too."
The agent gave Madison scoff, but agreed it was for the better, especially since they had been new to the scene as well. "Sorry, strict orders. Here, take my spare..." When the agent reached into the humvee and brought out a small beretta, he handed it to Madison, who was a little skeptical about taking it, but did so anyways. She could keep it in her pocket, even though it didnt feel right to her, and from the looks of it, Sam didnt think it was right either, but neither of them knew the full extent of what they were dealing with. "I know, hes just a kid, but we have orders. We'll be posted outside until you give us the ready."

As they walked past the guard, Sam kept her voice low as they got closer to the house, leaning in a little bit and speaking to Madison.
"Lot of hardware. What's going on here?"
As they went into the house she saw three more armed BSAA agents. All of them visibly stiffened when they came in, and she had a feeling if they had been unexpected guests both of them would have been riddled with bullets. This was some serious security, and she was beginning to have doubts as to what they were doing there. Whoever this boy was, he must be either very important or very dangerous to have so much armed security around him.
"We are here to meet Rafael. We're from TerraSave."
She reached slowly into her purse and produced her id badge. She nudged Madison and made sure she did the same. With that out of the way she tried to visibly relax and put on her best smile.
"Alright, let's go and see him. Are we going to be able to speak to him privately, or do we need an armed escort?"

Brushing past the pistol in her back pocket to grab her badge, Madison presented it along with her partner. It all seemed very strange to her. This was the United States, and they were in the middle of a city. The soldiers all seemed out of place, but there had to be a reason for them all, and she wasnt going to press it if she didnt have to. They had their job, as they said, and she had hers, along with Sam.
"No, hes playing with some cards in the living room. Seems fairly calm. Quiet, but hes in a good mood. Excited to see you two, actually.", the man spoke. Madison was happy to know that things were actually off to an okay start, and that the kid was going to be very cooperative. "If you need us, were outside for as long as youd like us to be." Nodding, she watched as the men left the house, and then looked at Sam, nodding her head forward as she walked into the living room.
Not ten seconds after the two ladies entered, they seen the boy turn his attention to them. He had a scar on his forehead that looked to be not even a few months old, and the look in his eyes was almost intimidating. There was a certain sadness, a harshness in his gaze, like he had seen so much yet he was still only a child. She couldnt quite describe the feeling, it wasnt something shed experienced before. Madison turned around to face Sam, her heartbeat rising a little as she did. "You uh, need to, uh, talk first. Let me just uh, go get some air first.", she muttered, unprofessionally. She knew there wasnt a chance it would work, but she had been a little nervous about the encounter. "Not bad. I wont hurt. Not you. Not her.", the boy chimed in, broken english words, but assuringly enough to get Madison to stay.
