Information: The Blackstone hotel is a 21 story building situated in the loop community district, on the corner of Michigan Avenue. The building stands out significantly because of its extremely old architecture. The inside looks a little ransacked though, a couple of hotel rooms are left wide open; the place is devoid of life.

[Vanessa enters Blackstone Hotel]
Taking in a deep breath, Vanessa bolted through the front doors. Her eyes scanned left to right. Where could she hide? She moved over towards the counter in hopes of finding some keys. "Now, if I was the clerk, where would I put those keys?" Vanessa went through the scattered papers and other items.
She wondered where the keys were at. "Ugh! Can't the keys be hidden in an obivous place?" It was then at that point when Vanessa finally realized where the keys could be. "Well, that's smart of me." Laying in an open draw was a master key to each room. Vanessa took in a angry sigh before snatching up the key. "Now, to find some free stuff."
Vanessa made her way over to the second floor; the highest floor she was planning on going up. She made her way over to the first room, opening the door with the master key. She entered the room, finding it void of life. "Well, at least this thing actually served a purpose." She smiled as she raided through the room; not finding much other than a few broken beer bottles and a butcher knife. Vanessa decided that there wasn't really much from this room she could take other than food.
"Well, at least I get some food to eat." Vanessa gave off a smirk as she headed in the direction of the First Floor. Maybe she could stay in that hotel for a small while.

Xavier pulled into the parking lot of the Blackstone Hotel. He parked the Mustang and let it idle for a moment before cutting the engine. Xavier got out wearing his backpack which held extra Ammo, his Shot gun and some almost dead flashlights. Xavier pulled out the 9Mil just in case. The only Zombies he could see at the moment were down the street too far away to be a threat. The sixteen year old quickly walked into the hotel and closed the doors.
Xavier was here for one reason today: To Find some food, Water, and Batteries. Xavier was still sporting his Nine Mil while he walked over to the Restaurant/Bar area. Xavier looked at the Drinks there while muttering, "Beer, Beer, Wine, Beer. Oh come on don''t tell me these people didn't drink water." Xavier was a little mad all he found that was useful was a little bag of Bar peanuts which Xavier was already eating. Xavier walked over to the stairs and started to climb them, He saw someone coming down and Xavier raised his Gun.
The person seemed...alive and Xavier deemed it safe to speak out,"Excuse me? Who are you?" Xavier asked sorta nervous. He still had his gun raised slightly just in case. If the person turned out to be a Zombie he was ready to take it out.

[ Enters the Lobby]
Alex had kept his M16 shouldered the entire time he had traversed the parking lot. He hadn’t had to fire a single shot as he moved and dunked behind destroyed vehicles avoiding the dead. He wasn’t on a search and destroy operation and he was the only one on it. He was combing the area for spare lithium ion batteries for the communications array back at the base to call B.S.A.A to get an evac for several wounded and rescued civilians. It wasn’t going to be an easy task, but he had to keep the search going if for nothing else but humanity. After a quick scan he lowered his rifle and started making his way towards the registry desk. Flipping through the log books and papers to see where the military had requisitioned rooms at. “ 442, 338 and 199” he mumbled to himself. The odds of there being a suitable battery there was slim to none but he might find some other spare supplies. He clicked the button on his radio head set " This is Staff Sergeant Arnett, I am in location Bravo Siera Hotel. Searching for supplies".

[Jake and Joseph enter Blackstone Hotel on the 2nd floor]
The room that they lowered themselves into was a typical hotel room. Two double beds took up most of the room with a TV on the dresser and a hallway leading down to door and a bathroom off to the right.
"Jake you hear that?”.
Jake turned to where Joseph was pointing… the bathroom door. Jake aimed his rifle at the door and followed Joseph to the door. Joe turned the door and opened it a bit and kicked the door open with his foot.
In the corner of the room, there were two zombies both eating what looked like a dog. One of the zombies turned and noticed Joseph. It got up along with the other zombie. Both of the zombies slowly started the creep to wards Joseph and Jake moaning.
Jake aimed at the first zombie and pulled the trigger.
Nothing happened. He slid the slide back, releasing an unspent shell. Then he pulled the trigger again.
Nothing.
Cursing, Jake let the rifle drop to his side and was reaching for his sidearm when he heard 4 shots from the shotgun. He looked up and saw that both of the zombies were dead.
"I only have four shots left," Joseph warned Jake, "Hopefully we'll find more ammo soon."
Jake nodded, holstering his sidearm and then looking at his rifle. He dropped the mag from it, and started to fiddle around with the mechanism inside. A small piece of debris dropped out the bolt area. It had somehow gotten lodged in there and kept it from firing.
Clearing it, Jake put the two unspent cartridges back in the magazine and loaded it. He aimed at the dead bodies and fired off 2 shots. It worked perfectly now.
“If we can’t then I’ll let you have my rifle while I use my sidearm. Let’s go take a look around.”
Jake went to the door and waited for a minute, listening to the other side. There was no moaning and no banging on the door, but Jake was sure that the shotgun blasts attracted the attention of any zombie nearby. They’d have to be careful.
Standing back, Jake opened the door and pointed his gun outside, the flashlight beaming off the walls. He leaned out and looked left and then right. The elevator was to his left; stairs to his right. They were about halfway down the hall from each with 10 doors on each side.
Jake grabbed his knife and carved an “X” in the outside of the door. Then he broke door lock. The door would be able to shut and latch and, if you inside, the deadbolt would work, but it wouldn’t automatically lock. The “X” would let them know which room they were in.
With that, he motioned in the direction of the stairs. “Do you want to check every room on this floor, or go downstairs?”

Alex dunked quickly as he heard shots, he wasn’t exactly sure where they were but he wasn’t taking any chances. He jerked back up scanning the lobby ready to pop anything that moved. The lobby now seemed eerily quiet after the gun shots rang out. He could hear his heart pounding inside of his chest when he heard something fall from the hallway. He turned in time to see two shamblers lurching their way in. Hungry and aware that food was in the building, he cursed to himself as he took aim at the first zombie. He lined the cross hairs up between the creatures eyes and slowly exhaled as he fired his first shot. Pulverized brain and skull exploded onto the wall, he switched his aim to the next and repeated the process. He didn’t want to move from the counter, the one place he could safely keep his back just yet. He kept his eye on the hallway and grunted as he moved from be hind the counter. He slowly moved towards the hallway until he could see the entire length of it. It was clear but he had no doubt that there were more zombies in the rooms. “ I’ve got to move” he whispered to himself as he approached the stairwell. “ This is Staff Sergeant Alex Arnett of the Marine Corps Biohazard Counter-measure and rescue unit. If there is anyone up there alive I can get you to an evac point”.

Joseph wiped a bead of sweat off of his head now that the two zombies were dead again. He noticed Jake said he could use his rifle if Joseph ran out of ammo. It was a nice gesture, but Joseph thought he would be fine.
"Thanks for the offer but I should be fine for now if I keep good aim," Joseph then looked down at the two dead zombies.
The zombies were dressed like any old normal person. They must have both been bit and then just hung out in the bathroom with there dog when they got infected. Joseph nudged his foot around them. They had nothing else that could be useful.
Joseph then turned to notice Jake listening to the door. Smart choice on his part because the last thing they would need was some zombies attacking them when they opened the door like what just happened. When Jake opened the door Joseph got his gun ready in case of anything that may happen.
So far nothing but you could never be to sure. When Jake asked what Joseph would like to do Joseph thought for moment. Split up, that was a far-fetched idea, but it could work. So, Joseph nodded to himself.
"I'll check the rooms then I'll meet you downstairs," Joseph said approaching the room next to the one that Joseph and Jake had just come out of.
Joseph listened at the door for a moment. No sounds were coming from the room whatsoever. Joseph, still though, carefully opened the door keeping his flashlight up. He followed his technique from the bathroom and he slightly opened the door then he kicked it open. Nothing was in the room. Good, it was a clear room.
Joseph started to scrounge around for anything useful. He found nothing of use so he exited the room and approached the next. He heard moaning from inside. This gave Joseph an idea though he went back into the safe room and picked up a shard of broken glass and then he walked back over to the door with moaning. On the door he scratched in a big Z, for zombie.
Joseph went around to every room sketching in Zs for all the moan/sound filled rooms. In total he did it to three rooms. In the other rooms there was nothing important, so Joseph headed back to the stairs. He guessed it was time to meet back up with Jake.

{YAY, THIS IS MY 500 POST!!!!!}
Jake had made it halfway down the stairs when he heard the shots coming from downstairs. He checked his rifle to make sure it wasn’t going to misfire and then he made his way down the stairs. At the base of the stairwell, as he was about to opened the door, he heard the door handle move. He retreated to the shadows. A man holding a weapon opened the door and called up the stairwell.
“This is Staff Sergeant Alex Arnett of the Marine Corps Biohazard Counter-measure and rescue unit. If there is anyone up there alive I can get you to an evac point.”
Jake stepped out of the shadows a bit, his hands raised. “I’m Gunnery Sergeant Jake Warner of the US Army. Don’t shoot.” Jake slowly motioned to the hallway out of the door and back by the lobby. “If would could move out of this cramped area and back someplace that has some room, I would appreciate it. Also, so you don’t get surprised, a man named Joseph is travelling with me. He is upstairs checking for supplies and zombies. My HumVee is outside if you care to look.”
Jake was careful to not put his hands near his weapons. In the stairwell, if there was a shootout, it wouldn’t be pretty for either of them. He looked up when he heard the door open. He heard footsteps and knew that it was probably Joseph.
“Joseph, this is Staff Sergeant Arnett of the Marine Corp”, he called out as a warning and an introduction.

“ Alright, I am coming up” he yelled back up the stairs as he lowered his weapon into a less aggressive carry. The Marine didn’t slow one bit as he moved up to the second story and continued his scan for threats. He turned as he entered the door to look at Jake and nodded and nodded at the other one who he assumed was Joseph. “ I’m Staff Sergeant Arnett” he said as he extended his hand “ You boys look like you have seen hell and maybe a B.O.W or two” he said trying to feign a smile “ You guys can hole up for a bit, I can escort you to the safe zone after my mission is complete and maybe get you guys a shower and a hot meal”.

Joseph stopped when he saw Jake. So Jake found another living human. That was good and it turns out this guy was in the army. Army men usually were well supplied and armed so that was double the good for Jake and Joseph. As the Staff Sergeant approached Joseph he held out his hand to Joseph. So like all customary hand hold outs Joseph grabbed Arnett's hand and shook.
"Greetings Staff Sergeant. I'm Joseph officer of the Richmond Police Department," Joseph said finally letting go of the Staff Sergeant's hand, "Indeed though we have seen a mess of zombies and one B.O.W."
So, Joseph continued to listen to the Staff Sergeant. Escort, that would hardly be needed, and heading to a safe zone. Joseph thought of how to respond and then finally came up with.
"While escorts and a safe zone sound fantastic, Jake here is following his own agenda and I'm along for the ride," Joseph fiddling around with his flashlight.
"By the way also Jake, I marked the rooms upstairs. I put a Z for what I think are infected filled rooms on the doors of those rooms, but all others are safe," Joseph said pointing back upstairs waiting to see what would happen next.

Jake was glad that Joseph left it at ‘his agenda’. It would not have gone well if Jake had said ‘hi, I’m a BOW because my bastard of a CO was sending his soldiers out to be caught by a group to be experimented on and now I’m going to kill a high ranking officer in the Army and if you make me too mad, I’ll rip everyone guts out and not stop until I calm down… how are you?’
Still, the Marines did have supplies and it was possible to get Joe some more rounds for his shotgun. Instead, he turned the question around on Arnett.
“So what are you doing out here? You said you were part of a Bio-hazard group. Where is the rest of your squad? The reason I ask is that we ran into 2 BOW just outside Chicago and most recently we were escaping a horde of infected rats. I would assume them to number in the hundreds.” Jake nodded in Joe’s way. “Also, if there is a way that he could get some more shells, we could trade for them. My HumVee is outside and stocked with food, ammo, weapons and gear.”
He looked up the stairs at Joe. Damn, a police officer… did he mention that earlier? Jake kicked himself. He actually told a police officer that he was going to commit murder. Damn it all to hell. “Let’s leave them for now. They are secure behind the doors for now. No need to waste ammo for them, but we could check the security office to see if they have anything useful.”

“ Unfortunately I don’t pack 12 gauge rounds around with, but I do have a few full mags for your M16 if you run low. I have been trying to keep as light as possible. But we can see what we can find and since both of you guys are atleast combat capable I could use the help and would give you guys anything you need exceot what I am here for” he said as he slung his rifle over his shoulder and produced a map and handed it to the pair “ The safe zone is in O’hare international, my outpost is about 20 clicks west of it in the industrial district, a little less then a company and our equipment”. “ And I didn’t hear about any B.O.W on the outskirts, sorry to hear you guys hit one we have been trying to weed them out of the city but theres more then we can find” he said before looking over his shoulder “ The security office would be a good start , need to find a master key or something. Have to check a few rooms that were used as military posts for some lithium ion communications batteries for the PR-7. Should be something left in them, maybe some ammo and MREs or hell might find a belt fed it was army and those guys get all the fun toys”. He quickly clicked his ear set “ Roger” he said “ No survivors so far in Blackstone, saw a plague of zombie rats and a few B.O.W on the outskirts. Send Rodriguez and Eshelman with the ma deuce. Arnett Out” he turned back to Jake and Jospeh “ If I told them I found you guys I would have to take you back with me as an order. If you guys show up in some recovered fatigues you won’t be recovered civvies” he said with a chuckle “ Gunny, Officer lets see what fun we can find”.

Joseph was confused with there gun talk. Sure, he was a police officer, but he never really paid any attention to the types of guns. In Joseph's mind if it can shoot someone it will work and at that present moment it was if it could blow a zombies brains to pieces then it would work.
Joseph was even then caught in more confusion with what Arnett was saying. So, he blanked out his mind and started to think of other things like: Killing zombies, Squishing zombie rats, and causing that B.O.W. thing they saw earlier to explode. Finally though Joseph noticed Jake said something else. The security office why hadn't Joseph thought of that.
"Alright, we can check the security office my guess is it is somewhere on the ground floor," Joseph said pointing his flashlight down the stairs and then asked, "Also are there any infected down there or have you not checked yet?"

Jake nodded to Arnett. “If I run out of rounds, then something has major f’ed up.” He thought about Arnett’s offer and then his own mission. While killing the Colonel was something he needed to do, he couldn’t deny his duty to help those in need. It was ingrained in him like breathing was.
“Let’s check the security station down here, first and then we will join you in clearing out the building. I can put my agenda on hold for a little while.” He looked over at Joseph to make sure that was okay with him. It also dawned on him that they really didn’t know who was in charge. A Gunnery Sergeant was one step above a Staff Sergeant, but Jake was former military. So, he just made suggestions.
“Okay, so in the Security Station, we look to see if they had a weapon stored there, and get a master key to the hotel. That will make it easier to search. Then we look for those batteries. Do you know which rooms you need to search?”
Jake was hoping that they would at least find some shells for Joe’s shotgun. Any supplies that needed would be a plus, but there were always supplies down in the HumVee.
“Let’s get to it. The sooner we are done, the sooner we can relax with a cigar and a beer.”

“ The lobby is clear, was only two rots creeping around in the hall way” Alex said as he took the point in front of the group heading down stairs. Altough he had no doubt they were capable enough he couldn’t risk loosing any civilians. “ Yea three rooms, 442, 338 and 199. And to be honest I would rather find a fith of tequila and a cigarette”.
As he approached the security room he stopped and looked at the two “ I’ll kick the door in you two be ready to shred anything that’s in there. Dead or dead and trying to get a human happy meal”.
