The scene unfolded in an instant, the gun taken out of the equation and the man near Rio. Elijha was on the ground, but it had looked like just fell after it went off. It had looked like things turned out well enough, but Malcolm found out otherwise.
“s***…” Daniel muttered, looking at the shell. He heard Malcolm tell the man he had better have something to counter it, and he seconded it. But, if he had the resources to make something like that, he had the resources to counteract it. All they needed was something to neutralize the effects. Their luck, that wouldn’t be here, it’d be at the lab down the road.
Seconds of silence passed, and Daniel stood up, storming to the old man.
“Hey!” He yelled, seeming to get his attention. “What can we do for her?” He asked, looking back to Elijha. He could see the pain she was in. It didn’t matter that she was grazed on the arm, the anti virus was a poison to her. And then it hit him.
“Gimme that.” He said, pointing to Malcolm’s MP5. He grabbed it and detached the strap, starting up at her shoulder and wrapping the strap tightly in place. He didn’t know why she passed out, he just hoped it hadn’t gotten past the wound yet. If it worked like a normal toxin, cutting off circulation to the area would help slow it down, keep it in her arm and away from her torso.

He sighed as he knew he had to move away from Rio. He looked over to Daniel and Malcom as they tried their best to attend to the abomination in the room. Climbing to his feet he picked up the monitor he held in his hand and moved over to them. He knelt down again and ran a scan over her body. "It will be fine," he grumbled lowly. He then looked at the cut on her arm. "Yeah. Just a graze. The shot probably put it into shock before the anti-virus even took affect." He stood up and walked into the kitchen. Grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge, and walked back over to them. "Let me show you." He opened the bottle and pored the water on Elijha's face.
She stirred a bit and coughed before she sat up with a start. Instantly grabbing her arm as she did. The pain that coursed through it was minimul, but still hurt. After a moment she let go of her arm and whiped the water from her face. She looked up at Rio's Uncle and glared at him. "If you weren't related to her I would tear you apart."
He glared at Elijha before turning back to Rio. "I still don't trust you, and I would still love to shoot you. Maybe I'll get that chance, but as for now she needs my attention." With that he walked back to Rio and knelt down.
Elijha sighed a bit and shook her head. "I hate him," she growled under her voice. "And I suggest you keep him away from me," she said as she glanced at Daniel. "I wont hesitate to show him why he hates things like me so badly." She leaned forward slightly as she tried to gather herself. "I'll be fine. Just a small amount. Think of this as a version of your flu," she pointed out. "We need to get you guys some food. I wouldn't mind a bit myself." She looked up at Rio's Uncle. "Do you at least have that much?"
"There is a kitchen here isn't there?" He called from the room.
She shook her head and looked toward Daniel and then Malcom. "Why don't you two go get you something to eat. I'll be fine for now."

Malcom was shocked at how quick Elijah was getting over the wound and asking Daniel and him about their state of health.
"I'm not too hungry myself, I tell you what, you two go grub up, I think I'd better play nurse for a while."
Malcom checked his ammo and followed the uncle into the room with Rio, pointing the gun at his back and arming it for emphesis, making sure the shotgun was out of reach and that he wasn't pulling any trickery with Rio.
"I'm not saying I don't trust you, I don't but that'd be rude to say out loud. Basically, all I have so far is your word though. So until Rio wakes up and we all see a happy reunion, you can bounce her on your knee, tell her how tall she's got and plan a trip to god damn seaworld and see sammy the seal do tricks for a bucket of fish, I'm gonna just watch over your work. Mmmkay unckie crazy man?"

“Ya, good idea.” Daniel said, looking at Malcolm. He held out his hand, pulling Elijha to her feet by her good arm. Separating them seemed like a good idea. They didn’t need her ripping a senior citizen apart at the waist.
He got her into the kitchen and had her take a seat at the table, pulling her sleeve up gently to take a look at the wound.
“You sure your going to be ok?” He asked her. The wound itself didn’t look too bad. He’d had worse in his life, but the kind of ammo had him worried. Was she going to get worse? He didn’t know, but he was going to keep a good eye on her. For the wound, and to make sure she didn’t try to get at the old man. Unless it turned out he was lying. Then he figured he’d just let her loose and go look through the house for a few minutes.
When he saw that the wound didn’t seem to be getting any worse, he stood up and opened the fridge, stepping to the side so she could see what was inside.
“Anything look interesting?” He asked. He wasn’t too hungry right now. Maybe later.

Elijha looked at the fridge and smiled. "Toss me that bottle of water," she asked. Though she felt hungry she knew quite well that if she ate she wouldn't hold it down. She could already feel the nausia setting in. Shaking her head as she took the bottle from Daniel. She opened it up and took a large gulp letting the water cool down her insides. She sighed a bit before looking up at him again. "I'll be fine, but as I sit here I don't think I can eat anything at the moment." She sighed a bit before adding. "I'll be fine though. It wasn't enough to kill me. Just make me a bit sick," she said as she looked back at the room. "I wonder how long it has been since the two of them seen each other." She shrugged her shoulders before looking back at Daniel. "Get you and Malcom something to eat. You'll need your strength."
=======================
Rio moaned a bit as she stirred in the bed. Still she didn't open her eyes. Rhonin groaned a bit as his neice didn't make any attempt to wake up, and having someone watch him with a gun ready wasn't helping his mood. Have one of those creatures in his home made it even worse. Still he was out numbered, and probably wouldn't even stand a chance to take any of them down without the others knowing. He sighed a bit as he sat down on the floor. Rio moaned again, and he shot right up. Looking down at her he smiled when he seen her eyes open. "Hey Puppet," he said lightly.
Rio looked at him for a moment almost lost as to who he was. Her mind was so clouded that she wondered if she was still asleep. She looked at the man standing over her, and then the other in the room. Her confusion cleared up as Malcom's face became more clear to her. Though the weapon he held didn't make her any more comfortable. She looked at the man who had spoken to her, and smiled lightly when she realized who he was. "Uncle," she said softley. "I thought you died."
"No no. I managed to escape. Been up here all alone. I heard about Riko. I'm so sorry, sweetheart."
At the mention of her brothers name Rio closed her eyes and sighed a bit. She rolled over on her side away from him. Flinching slightly as she tried to make herself comfortable. "He . . . they . . . they both are gone because of me," she mumbled before growing quite. "I'm sorry I wasn't stronger."
"Rio," he whispered, and then let out a heavy sigh. He sat back down on the floor, and looked up at Malcom. "Go get you something. I'm not going to try anything. Watching her is all I can do," he said as he looked back to Rio. He knew she was awake, but talking to her like this would only make things worse. He sighed a bit and shook his head before looking at the floor. "Everything is in date. Don't worry about spoiling food. I keep this place fully stocked."

"Well, you check out for now. I'll just get something from the van. Back in a few minutes."
Malcom put the safety back on his weapon and headed outside to retrieve some of the gear so they could hold up better. Looking around he considered their options if someone were to suddenly attack the cabin, not liking to take any more chances he grabbed some junk parts and got to work trapping the area. Several choke points were crossed with tripwires hooked up to small explosives with spare ammo packs attached to them as makeshift shrapnel bombs. Remote mechanisms were combined with some unused handguns and placed to aim into the better cover spots around the area. The lesser points were guarded with flares, noisemakers and snares to throw attackers off their game. Finally Malcom took a box of spare guns, ammo and medicine inside, taking the back door in to see Elijah and Danny.
"Well, we're probably going to be safe here for as long as we need. Got our valuables here so noone robs us and Rio vouches for that guy so far. You two holding up okay?"

Daniel couldn’t help but snicker at Malcolm’s comment about them getting robbed.
“If all we have to worry about is car jackers, that’d be a vacation.” He said, looking through the fridge for something to eat. He gave up and went to take a seat at the table with Elijha.
“I’m good, she wants to murder the old man. Which makes me think she’s in tip top shape.” He answered Malcolm.
“So, other than him being a bit trigger happy… Think he could help us out? If we can’t get Rio to the lab, she is screwed. And we can’t move her right now, so we can’t get her to the lab.” He said. He hated catch 22’s. Pains in the ass.
“I’m thinking we should get some info out of him.” He said. As much as he wanted to let Rio have her reunion, the clock was ticking down.

Rio continued to lay on her side and stare at the wall. Her uncle continued to sit in the room with her. After a bit she finally sighed. "I thought you were dead," she said lightly.
"I ran. There was nothing I could do."
"Nothing you could do!" she growled as she forced herself to sit up in the bed. "He died because of you. He died because he was brave enough to save me . . . and I had the decent thought that you died as well. Bravery for your family. Sacrifice for your family. Do anything for your family!" she screamed as she pulled the IV's out of her arm.
"Looks like your good enough to get up," he said with a half harted shrug. He stook up and walked through the door, before stumbling to the ground as Rio pushed him.
---------------------------------------------
Elijha perked her head up as she heard screaming coming from the room Rio was in. Let alone the voice being hers. She stiffly pushed herself out of the chair and made her way into the living room with the others. To see Rio stumbling out of the room. Rage and pain filled her face, but not pain from the virus that courced through her body.
----------------------------------------------------
"Everything . . . Everything you told us . . . made us believe . . ." she panted heavily as she staggered through the door. "I thought you live up to it all, but in the end . . . in the end you ran away like a coward!" she screamed. Her hand drifted to her chest as she fought back her tears. "I . . . live with the thought that it was my fault . . . that I was the one who got the remainder of my family killed leaving me just with my brother. You . . . you couldn't come back . . ." she cried as she staggered on her feet. "You couldn't even show the least bit of regret, sorrow, or pain . . . you can't show anything?"
He shrugged his shoulders before looking back at the kitchen door. "The world is tough. You must do what you can to survive. If throwing . . ."
"Throwing?" Rio growled as she leaned up against the fire place. "Throwing? You threw him to them."
"Not really. Just behind," he corrected.
"You bastard!" she cried as she picked up the fire poker and swung it as hard as she could, but it stopped short. She looked up at Elijha through her watery tears. "He . . . He . . ." she broke off.
"Rio. I'm sorry, but if you want to kill your uncle. Can I at least suggest wait till we get you fixed up," she said as she wrapped her arm under her waist to hold her up. Elijha took hold of the fire poker instead and glared at the Rhonin. "If you charish your life in any way Doc. healing your niece will be the first step. If she dies. I will have your head on a silver platter, and you will find out that I am far more dangerous than my predecesors."

"Okay, enough of that."
Malcom and Daniel had moved in when they heard the fighting, Malcom swiping the fire poker and throwing it across the room. Next off he stepped between the girls and the uncle to prevent any move at each other.
"So kids, the three of you don't seem to want to make this road trip any easier, so me and Danny have to put you all on a time out. From here onwards you won't be left alone with each other and we're banning any feuds until we get to the lab and get treatment, then you can strangle each other all you want. We good with that?"

Elijha lead Rio to the sofa and sat her down. "I'm a bit surprissed that you could move like that," she said ignoring the others in the room.
"Anger does strange things to a person." She looked up to her Uncle and then to the others. She let out a sigh before hanging her head.
"Well if Rio is on her feet. Wouldn't now be a good time to head toward the lab?"
"I am not going to treat anyone as long as you are here. I don't care if she is my neice or not. No monster is stepping foot into that lab," he barked as he threw his hands into the air.
"I'll tell you something doc. I am quite a fast learner. Photographic memory and all that. I can easily step into that lab and pick up a few books and know more than what you do in a matter of a couple of hours. I'm guessing Rio has more than that left. Leaving me with enough time to take breaks. Like I said before you can do it the easy way or the hard way." She looked up at Daniel for a moment before looking back at Rhonin. "Your choice."
"I still stand by what I said. No freaks in my lab." He folded his arms and leaned up against the fireplace. "Give me my shotgun back, and I'll show you just how much I stand by that."

“Ya, I don’t think so.” Daniel said, holding the shotgun. He opened the barrels on the weapon and proceeded to take it apart, letting the barrels fall to the ground as he held the fore end and stock in his hands.
“It seems like Elijha has the right idea. I don’t think we have use for a coward in our group.” He said. If Rio was awake like she was, she could help them as well. Rage being the medicine that it was, it seemed like the best idea to leave him here to his own device.
“I think we’ll be fine.” Daniel said. His hand rested on the grip of the handgun on his belt, ready to pull it out if the old man tried anything again. Given the recent developments, he didn’t think he’d be quite so hesitant to shoot him.
“Rio, think you’ll be ok to move?” He asked her. It all hinged on that. But he had a feeling she’d want to move no matter how she felt.

"Think of it as office sensitivity. You all play nice or we have to spend two weeks in a classroom with a fat lady telling us how to properly talk about 'the game' without offending each other."
Malcom pulled up the trap door leading to the cellar, shining the light from his gun down the stairs. Looked fairly modern despite the state of the cabin. A concrete floor leading off into a tunnel with a few old pieces of lab equipment around.
"So Rio told us that you have a way straight to the lab, I'm guessing this is it. We could use that old trolley there is Rio needs to take a load off on the way, Elijah sticks with her and Daniel, I stick with crazy dave and we can keep you separate until we're all done."
He waved his gun at Rio's uncle. "Lead away."

Rhonin growled slightly as he made his way down the stairs into the basement. Moving over to a dust covered bookshelf he pushed it out of the way to a dark passage way. He grabbed a flash light off the nearby desk and entered the passage way not even giving any regards to those who followed.
Elijha looked at Rio as she stood up. Sighing a bit she watched as Rio followed Malcom down the stairs. She pulled Daniel back and waited until the others were out of ear shot. "I know you can feel him. We have to keep our eyes open. My father will be far worse to handle than Riko. Just be careful. I don't know what he's planning to do here," she said as she motioned him toward the stairs.

“Ya, I know…” Daniel said quietly when she mentioned that the feeling. He hadn’t been quite sure what it was when he first felt it, but he had always had an idea. Now that she confirmed it, he sighed.
“Well, we’ll just have to keep him busy.” He said. He didn’t know how well that would go, but if it came to it, it was the only thing they would be able to do. Superhumans had the habit of being arrogant pricks. Sometimes all it took was standing and listening to their monologues to kill time.
“That, and we have these.” He said, holding up the clear shotgun shell. “Old man probably has a few hundred of them lying around somewhere.” He said. If they could get to them, he could only assume that the fight would become a bit more even.

Malcom let Rhonin work ahead just far enough to keep out of reach if he suddenly attacked, but not too far to run off or duck into a hiding place. Eventually the group ended up at a large vault type door, a combination was keyed in and a valve spun to open up the lab.
"Nice place, I probably shouldn't ask how you got that door down here though."
The group shone any lights they had around until Malcom found a fusebox to turn on. The lab was suprisingly well equipped and maintained for being this far out. Inside an old bunker complex from the looks of things. A shelf against the wall was stacked with specimen jars filled with mutant parts in preserving liquid whilst the workbenches were covered in notes and locked storage boxes.
"Looks like one of those old cold war places, people expecting nuclear war and building places to hide out until it was safe to go topside. Heard a lot of them went to secretive groups. Okay, get your miracle cure out Rhonin, we've wasted enough time."
