'Wasn't it Dale's Pharmacy or something? I dunno, wonder if it really does have a safe room or something in the back like one of the guys said it does...' He thought remembering a story told to him during the later days of the 'End of Days'...
[Flashback]
One of the older members was yelling, "All right all right guys, just shut up and I'll tell you now sit down, shut it and listen."
It was Johnny, Old Johhny White, a guy about his late teens with about a 5'7 standing topped off by his messy blonde hair. He wore a blue denim jacket over a plain white shirt, blue jeans that looked almost brand-new, and a light blue bucket hat that covered most of his head. Johnny had claimed to have seen or heard a lot, most of it just plain bulls*** but it was always a good story.
"Okay, so you guys all know the dude that runs the frickin pharmacy on the East Side? He was around for the first outbreak in '96. Crazy thing was, for a while, he hadn't left the city, he stayed in one place for about a week until he was evacuated."
This was met with surpise from his audience, for a person to be strnded a while before being rescued was understandable, but to stay in one place, in the Hell that was Raccoon City 1996, for one week, and survive to this day? That sounded a bit sketchy...
"It's true, dude has a frickin' Panic room built into the shop, yeah he showed me, a little button on the counter opens it up, you can lock it from the inside, its got food, water, a bathroom, beds, enough stuff for a couple of people if need be there..."
"Dude, you gotta be yankin' us..."
"Yeah, I mean a 'Panic Room'? Who the Hell sees something like the outbreak coming?"
"Hey, I don't know why it's there but it's there. You wanna go check? Check, he'll show it to ya like he did me..." He walked off.
No one actually checked, or even thought to check. They all just assumed that he was just trying to get attention, or trying to see if he could punk anyone. No one looked into it, so whether or not it was bulls***, is yet to be known...
[End Flashback]
'Heh, no harm in checking I guess, besides I need meds, what if I get sick or something, or get busted up like this again? I need to actualy patch up my wounds, it's only been a few days, and I've already been wounded pretty good twice... Either the outbreak is as bad as before, or I'm slippin'... Anyway, Meds, Pharmacy, Panic Room, time to go...'
He stood up, shook himself off, and began to check his gear again, taking into account the extra bag now... Everything still fit, still functioned, and still worked like before. As he started to walk away, he thought about if it was a good idea to leave the cooler behind. Getting an idea, he drew his knife and indented his initials into the lid clearly so anyone who saw it could read it, along with the message, 'Do. Not. TOUCH.' Feeling better now, he started out of the airport passed the guards as usual, hopped on his knew bike, and started out...
[Cody Matthews is leaving the Airport and heading for Dale's Pharmacy]

(( Joe, Thorton, and Andreya enter))
Andreya moaned again as Thorton pulled up to the rather large barbed wire fince. One of the guards at the fince stopped them to ask questions. Mostly weather any of them had been bitten or were infected in any other way. With the reasurance of the group they were allowed into the gated facility. Knowing well enough they would have to pass a more physical checking by the medical personal. Andreya cried out as she rolled again. Her hand drifting to her side. Still she didn't wake up, but remained sleeping. Even with the evidince that she was having problems breathing didn't wake her up. She coughed a bit before shifting again. Wimpering occasonally as she found a wrong place to lay.

Joe rushed to the airport entrance and called out one of the medical teams he'd been working with during his time in racoon. They wheeled a stretcher out to the hummer whilst Joe opened the back seat.
"What do you have?"
"Seventeen year old girl, repeated fractures in the right arm, multiple cuts, recently cleaned and bandaged, she has asthma and possible damage to the skull."
"Got it, okay, on three and life, one two three..." The crew lifted Andreya onto the stretcher keeping her steady as they moved back in where the first aid area of the airport had been set up.
Joe grabbed the gear from the car and met with Thornton. "Do you require any further aid? There are plenty of doctors here."

"No, I'm fine." Thorton said as he stepped out of the hummer and started walking into the terminal, following the gurney into the terminal. It wasnt a total lie. He'd had worse and not gotten it checked out. At worst a few broken bones, not the worst thing in the world. His only concern was Andreya, and at the moment, he had a lot to be concerned about.
He stopped outside the examination area they took her, watching the Navy medics and civilian doctors work on her under the watchful eye of several soldiers armed with combat shotguns. MAde sense, the medical area quarantined. They couldnt always catch the infection at the checkpoint, and anyone injured went here first. He let the doctors work on her until they stopped. Assuming they had done what they could, he walked foreward and addressed the highest ranking Navy officer in the area that had been working on her.
"How is she?" He asked.

The medic looked at Thorton, and then back to Andreya. "She'll be fine with some rest. We brought her asthma back under control, and reset her right arm. There putting a temporary cast on it as we speak. Basically wrapped with metal brackets to keep it straight. We'll give her a sling to wear once she wakes up. The cuts were well dressed, but some of them needed stitches, and others were just minor abrasions. Those have already been redressed. As for her head you got her here just in time. To much longer and we couldn't have saved her. He pointed back to the room and what looked like a syringe sticking out of the side of her head. Brain injuries usually build up fluid around the skulls. That causes the bruising when you have a concussion or just crack your head really good. Significant trauma builds up a lot of fluid. The body does this to save itself, but it's a bit of a contradiction. It places pressure to help it, but the pressure builds to much it can actually kill the person. There draining the excess fluid right now, then they'll wrap her head, give her a few shots to help her, and take her to ward three just down the hall. That will be where she stays for a bit so we can keep an eye on her," he explained. "Just wait right here." With that he stepped back into the room.
It was several minutes later before he came back out of the room. "Follow me," he said motioning down the hall. "There taking her out the back way. Easer to keep prying eyes off of the patients," he explained. As they walked down the hall they noticed the bed being pushed into a room. Once they reached it Andreya was already laying on another makeshift bed with several IV's in her arm, and a sling laid on one of the side tables. "She should actually wake up here in a few," he explained as he pulled a chair into the room. "If you need anything or if anything happens feel free to shout," he said an with that he left the room.

Taking the time to sit and think didnt happen very often, but it was needed at times. Sometimes in life you have to set aside goals and opportunities to make room for promises. This was something I couldnt forget, no matter how important my other life gets.
Louis sat on one of the benches inside the airport, patiently waiting for his flight. He knew the scheduals pretty well, and it would only been an hour or so until his plane arrived. But he couldnt get on it without Andreya and Thorton, he knew they would be here, he knew they would come here eventually. Louis looked a bit mysterious, just waiting silently, with his jacket zipped up, and hair coving his eyes. Didnt really matter, everyone looks pretty mysterious if theyre still alive after what happened.
Everyone seems to be giving off that tough radiance, theyre all moving around with a goal. What was my goal? Living on a two sided coin was normal for me. But in the end, whats my goal?

Joe followed Thornton and the doctor through the medical area, pretty much a Mobile Army Surgical Hospital set up indoors to help with the outbreak wounded since the regular hospitals were in the middle of the city and possibly swarming with undead and mutants. He listened intently to the doctor talking about her treatment, she'd been through a lot in a short period of time, the mercenaries at the carnival, the mutant army, locked in a box for several hours, the woman trying to abduct her and the wolves.
The doctor eventually left the two in a private recovery room with Andreya, expecting her to wake up any minute. Joe paced uncomfortably watching Thornton.
"Your daughter is quite tough, it was more than good fortune that she got through all this.........Can I get you two anything? I believe there are a few shops in the building, a coffee and donut perhaps?"

"How about a cheeseburger?" Thorton asked in a joking manner. He sat in the seat near the bed, hunched foreward and looking at Andreya as she slept. He's listened to what the doctor had said, half understanding some of it and thinking the other half could have been said in Chinese and he wouldnt have known.
He silently wondered if it was all done and over with, if they were going to run into another roadblock in one form or another, if they were going to have to walk through another hell to get to the heaven that was a two bedroom apartment nowhere near the beach in Hawaii. Any normal day he hated the place, but right now... He'd give anything to spend the rest of his life there with her.
"I'm just gonna sit here for a while, wait for her to wake up." He said to Joe, not looking back at him.

Andreya shifted on the bed letting out a soft moan. Her arms moved to rest at various areas. One hand now gripping the edge of a pillow and the other gripping the blanket that was draped over her. There was a faint knock on the door before it opened. An older woman stepped in with her hand full of cloths. "I figured she could use a change of cloths. I had to guess at her size. If they don't fit just let one of us know and we'll get her some that will," she explained as she sat them down on the small table in the room. She then walked over to Andreya and started to check over the equipment, refiled one of the bags, and then left without another word.
She let out another moan before shifting her head. Coughing heavily before letting out a painful cry. She jerked slightly before opening her eyes. She looked around the room with tears in her eyes before they fell on Thorton. She smiled slightly before shifting a bit to lay on her side. She looked at him with a weak smile before seeing Joe standing in the room. "Where are we?" she asked in almost a whisper.

"I'll give you two some time, maybe go grab that burger, some other stuff maybe, back in a few."
Joe left the room for the main terminal building, intending to get everyone something from the various shops in the airport. The restaurants were seeing good business and some had even expanded their inventory. The first visit was at a flower shop though, Joe needed some more of the various racoon herbs, they made good broth ingredients and were useful for treating cuts. On the way to the next store he ran into the homeless man he'd been conversing with during his time in the city.
"Yo Joe. How's the savin the world goin?"
"Still a long way, but I'm keeping my corner safe at least....Hey, I don't suppose I could ask you a favor?"
"Shoot."
"You hear and see a lot passing through, if you could find me anything on a masked man, some kind of surgeon, hires a lot of mercenaries, could you keep note for me?"
"Heh, well, I'm hardly the eff bee eye, but I'll keep my ear to the ground." Joe gave him some cash to take care of himself. "Much obliged boss man."
At the general store, Joe picked up some bread, bottled water and bandages, basic travelling supplies. He'd left his other bag in the recovery room so he carried his purchases in a large paper bag for now. The last stop was at a burger place, he got Thornton the cheeseburger he mentioned and a cup of soup for Andreya, she was probably best off solid foods for a bit. Putting his bag down to pay he failed to notice a small black fuzz rush past him and hop into the bag.
"Hey, got you all some supplies." A few minutes later he entered the recovery room carrying the bag, passing out the food.
"Your burger, soup for you."
"Mew"
All eyes were suddenly on the bag as Joe looked inside it.
"Well, I haven't had much time to sample american culture but..." He carefully lifted out a small kitten, black with white paws. "Is this what they mean by 'free prize inside'?"

Thorton leaned closer to the bed as Andreya woke up, smiling at her when she looked around and asked where they were.
"Were at the airport, in the clinic. Your safe." He told her. He saw her look toward the door and looked back himself, seeing Joe walk in with his bag looking quite a bit fuller than when he had left. "Mall maddness?" He asked with a smirk.
He watched as Joe started to unload the bag, handing Andreya a cup of soup and him a cheeseburger. Thorton laughed silently as he took the wrapped sandwhich. He'd only been joking when he had said that, but he certainly wasnt going to complain or try to give it back now. He started to unwrap the burger when he heard the noise coming from the bag, raising his eyebrows as he looked back at it.
Joe produced the stowaway, the small black cat, and he started to laugh again. "Heck, when I was a kid all we got were decoder rings..." He said.

Andreya looked at the kitten as it squirmed in Joe's hand. Looking down at the cup full of soup she sat it down on the counter. She wasn't all to hungry, but she figured that she would sip on it for now. Though she wanted to hold the kitty. "Can I hold it?" she asked lightly. Smiling as Joe passed the kitten off. She scrated behind it's ear lightly and listen to it's soft pur. It's small form curling up in her bandaged hand probably thinking the wrappings were a bed. She looked at Thorton, and then to Joe. "Are you going to keep her?" she asked before looking down at the kitten.
When she lived her her family they never had a pet . . . at least not one they would keep alive to long. Then when she moved in with Thorton she had never even suggested it. She didn't feel right asking him to get a pet for her. Especially since it was his home, and she was more of a guest there even after he had adopted her. Then there was no way she could even have a pet in the dorms at the school. So her contact with animals was very limited. She smiled lightly as the kitten yawned showing it's pink tongue and it's tiny white teeth.

"Must be a stray, no collar on her."
Joe handed the kitten over to Andreya, watching how comfy it got when she held it. Closest he'd came to pets where the animals he'd worked with on the farms near the temple, cows and horses mostly, though the occasional dog would turn up. Andreya asked him if he was intending to keep it, seemed harmless enough but on the other hand, it seemed to be attaching to her fast and vice versa.
"Seems to like you, maybe you should keep her, or at least pick a name."

Andreya flinched slightly as she rolled onto her side. She sat the kitten down on the ground, and it nuzzled up against her. She smiled as she scratched behind it's ear. "I will name her Shocks," she said as she looked up at Joe. "Because her white paws look like shocks," she said with a laugh. Reaching over to the table she picked up the cup of soup. Taking several sips from it before setting it back down on the table. "But as for keeping her. It's up to Thorton," she said lightly as she looked up with a smile. "It's his home, and I don't want to bring anything into his home that he doesn't want," she explained as she looked down at the kitten.

"I dont see a problem with it." He said, looking at the kitten on the bed as it playfully rubbed against Andreya. He didnt see why it was a problem for her to have a pet. She'd never asked about it. He'd grown up around animals, tended the cattle and chickens and had a mess of dogs inside the house, a mess of cats that roamed the farm.
"One thing." He said, looking at the cat. "How do his feet look like shocks?" He asked jokingly as he took a bite of his burger.
