I'll admit, I enjoy the movies. I go in and watch them, try and forget what I know about the game series, and it makes them very good movies. What ruins it for everyone around here, is that we all have a special place in our hearts for the game series. All the friends and co-workers and such I know enjoy the movies a great deal, and none of them have ever played the games.
I will agree, though. The movie's are making very, very, VERY good money worldwide.
RE1, made on 30 million dollars. It made over 102 million dollars.
RE2. 45 million dollar budget. It made over 129 million dollars.
RE3. 45 million dollar budget. Made just shy of 148 million dollars.
And the latest. Made on 60 million dollars. As of September 10th, opening day, it has made almost 11 million dollars. That's no record, but it's not quite bad. Box office records are not in for the opening weekend yet.

I don't blame you, I was disappointed by it too only by one or two aspects. The rest was just awesome.
What annoyed me the most is they made Chris more of a 'hardass' and 'evil-esque' character. He seemed like he was gonna betray them at any minute, now he might be like this in RE1, but I've only played as him in RE5 and doesn't seem like that.
That and, not to give away any spoilers, the last scene that Wesker shows up in. That was really annoying, mostly cause of how it ended.

I approached Afterlife the same way I approached Aeon Flux and Ultraviolet, that is to say, I saw it as a typical Sci-fi action flick and it suprised me. While it deffinitely fits on the shelf with Ultraviolet and Aeon Flux, I liked a lot of things about the movie.
*SPOILERS*
I loved how they removed the clone and super Alice thing really early. Super powered protagonist almost never make a good selling point, especially if said heroin has dozens of clones all of which can blow an entire room up by opening their eyes a tad bit dramatically...
I loved the basketball star. I'm sorry, but the guy catching the airplane and the 'Star Power' line near the end of the movie cemented that guys place just above LJ and Carlos in my favorite RE movie characters...
Arcadia being a boat was pretty cool, and did the story well for continuation of the plot. Could you imagine Alice landing in Arcadia? Why the hell would she ever have to leave? Especially to a prison down by the coast...
And now for the things I didn't care so much for...
The impant things looked like they belonged in a Power Rangers movie...
The split faced zombies having the ability to snag people from across the room. I suppose it made sense with the Uroboros being a seperate creature, but the girl being grabbed like she was bandersnatch bait and drug into the water kinda...Eh...
The ending...As much as I love cliff hangars, that one left me wondering why the hell the Umbrella Corp was heading to a boat they abandoned, and no doubt knew Wesker was on. If not to kill Wesker, then what? Pick up the research? While possible, it's pretty unlikely considering the size of the force. Which brings up another question...How the hell were they gonna land that many VTOLs on that boat? Even freighters only have so much square footage. And it didn't look like any of those Verti-birds were hit and run aircraft...
Other than that, I really enjoyed the movie and I'll be looking forward to the DVD release...

I don't like the part where you say 'cliffhanger'. That part frightens me.

Hahahaha, well, I went with my friend Sarah and a few other friends. But Sarah has never even heard of the Resident Evil game series, so it was a great experiment. She freakin loved the move, and the three that came before it. So when I was watching the movie, I was watching it as a good movie, not a Resident Evil fan or anything. It was really good, scenes were well done, and I really liked the storyline.
But yeah, its hard to be a hardcore fan of the games, and watch this movie without instantly picking out a crap load of things that would just leave you "WHAT!? NO!". Im really glad they didnt have clones and superpowers running around the whole movie, yet they still had an epic scene with all of them at the beginning to catch the attention.
However, one and only question I could care less about. Why in earth was the Executioner there? Like, it was soooooooooo friggin random. Im not gonna complain, but Sarah was just clueless as to what it was, cause me and my other friends were like WOW. Cool if they explained it, cool if they explained a lot of things.

That too, but the actual question that came to my mind was. "Where did he get the axe?" I mean, in Africa a crude and rusted axe fits the character, but given the location, the guy should have been toting a broken lamp post or something the would've made sense...

I finally saw the movie tonight, very last showing before it left theaters. Life's been effing nuts for me, so I finally got a chance to go out and enjoy it.
Good movie, glad the trilogy's over.
A few things I noticed, which now sounds weird that i'm saying them:
The dubloons she shot from the shotgun- either packed in front of a shell, packed inside of a shell, or just shoved in there and used with gunpowder. -shrug- Sorta stupid how the Executioner's head exploded from halfway across the room when close up, the same shotgun with the same power didn't really do crap.
The amount of times she fired those revolvers was ridiculous. I was counting shots, and I honestly lost count. I'm assuming it was somewhere around 10 shots each gun, which meant those 6-shooters weren't 6-shooters. Also, the cylinder didn't spin to put a new round in the chamber, so that was a goof.
I had a bunch of tiny little nit pickings, but I'm not gonna talk about them here.
All and all, it's a good movie and it tied up the series pretty well. I loved it like I did the other films: as an alternate reality. =D

Well, gotta keep all them truckers happy, I guess...
That, and... Dubloons? I saw quarters, both in mid air and when she was loading the shells.

Well I saw "gold coins" when I saw it. When she was loading them and in the shotguns themselves. They were also bigger than quarters. Meh, i'd have to see it again on blu-ray when I get it.

Saw it yesterday and thought it was meh. I liked that it tried to stick closer to the games- even if it was only the newer ones like 5 they were taking things from. 3D did nothing to really add to it for me so it was pointless, I guess.
I really liked that they were trying to get away from what they already did in the older movies and kind of give it a reboot with what they did to Alice. If things continue in this direction I can't wait for the next one.
Also, a few things I did not like about the movie -Money shooting shotgun. Why would they do something like that? -Steve wasn't the monster like I'd been hoping. When I saw Clair would be fighting him I was like MY LITTLE FANBOY HEART IS MELTING but then he didn't transform into Steve ;_;

Im sorry to say I dont see why some of you are saying it had a good story because this film had no story whatsoever....just a bunch of action scenes and really bad acting strung together
