Cindy blushed a little when the woman started laughing. Then she realized it wasn't because she had her bear still, but that Sarah wished she still had hers.
"He comes with me when I travel. I'm so glad I had him when I left for school. He's the only part of my old life I still have. I don't know if my parents are still alive. But I know I still have him."

Sarah pointed to her rifle sitting on the floor. "That's what I bring from my old life. It was my dad's rifle. I remember it hanging over the fireplace at Christmas. Now I put down the dead people." Sarah climbed into her sleeping bag. She scooted down until it covered her chest and then she tucked her hand down the couch and put it on her Glock.
"Good night Cindy. If you try to kill me tonight, you better not miss. I won't hesitate to kill you."
Sarah wasn't threatening Cindy. Actually she was just stating her what would happen matter-of-factly.

"Well, if you get me before I get you, then I guess you can keep my bear. I won't need Mr. Smiggles where I'm going."
Cindy smiled, feeling a little silly about her retort, but she really couldn't think of anything else for a decent response. How does one respond to that kind of remark? She didn't dwell on it too long as the warm blanket, the loud rain and the exhaustion of the day took her off into a deep sleep.

Sarah snorted and shook her head, closing her eyes to sleep. "You got balls, Cindy. I'll give you that." Then she drifted off to sleep.

Cindy woke in the middle of the night. Something above them was moving. Initially she thought it was Sarah moving in the middle of the night, but when a hand closed over her mouth and something sharp was placed over her throat, she froze, eyes wide and panic filling her mind.
While everything was blurred, she could tell that whoever it was above her was a man, and was alive. She couldn't make anything else out, and was too afraid to struggle or cry out. The fear of her throats being slit kept her silent.

[ooc - looking forward to seeing where you take this.]
Sarah wasn't a light sleeper, but she also wasn't a deep sleeper. When the floor creaked, she assumed it was Cindy getting up. But as it approached her, the floor creaked again... this time deeper, from the weight of someone who was quite a bit larger than Cindy. In a flash she pulled out her gun and pointed it at the looming shadow. At the same instance, she saw a glint of metal slash in at her. She rolled off the couch, landing on her rifle. The shadow was almost on top of her now. She fired off 3 shots directly into the shadow and then continued to roll away from the couch.
Her mind was finally catching up to her actions and she sprang to her feet and took her knife out of her sheath.
"I will friggin' kill everything in this room that moves. Who are you?"

With one motionless, bleeding body on the floor, another large man was still holding a knife to Cindy's throat, eyes moving from Sarah to the prone body on the floor. Cindy could feel the sharp blade nearly breakin her skin, and she let out a muffled whimper.
"This is our hiding spot! You can't just come in here and sleep where you like, take what you like! But I can take what I like..."
The man licked his cracked, dry lips and gently stroked cindys hair with his free hand. The meaning wasn't lost on her, but she didn't move for fear of him cutting her throat, either intentionally or by accident.
She could see him very well, but what she did see was filthy clothes, looking like farmers clothing, and a balding, heavy set man in his 40's or 50's. She couldn't make out his facial features but she could almost few the crazy and malevolence coming from his mannerisms and words.

Sarah turned and pointed her gun at the larger man, who was trying to hide behind Cindy. "Kill her, I don't even know her other than she has a bear. But I will tell you, you will not be leaving here alive today." As Sarah looked around she noticed that her bike and the couch was still against the only door, meaning that they entered through another way. That meant that there were hidden passages in the house.
Hopefully Cindy knew that she was bluffing... well at least a little. Sarah had learned long ago that there were things that were worse than death... and this could be one of them.

The man seemed to try and hide as much of his bulk behind Cindy as he could, pulling her up and wrapping his arm around her slim waist. A few futile kicks were all she could muster before the knife was back near her neck again, threatening to bring her life to a very bloody end.
"Not attached to this one eh? I could take her off your hands. Pretty little chink like her..."
He gave Cindys hair and neck a long sniff, making the girl shudder in revulsion.
"Smells clean. Smells...fresh."

The use of the racial slur and how he acted with Cindy, made Sarah mad and her skin was crawling. When he pulled her up, he didn't realize that he had made an error. Holding her, he wasn't going to be able to move very fast. She pointed her gun at his foot and fired. "How about I take your feet off of you." She fired at his foot again. She didn't want to kill him... not just yet.

The second shot took a chunk of the mans foot off. He cried out in pain, dropping Cindy and the knife, grabbing his door and trying to stop the bleeding. Cindy coughed and rubbed her throat, scrabbling away from the man and grabbing her axe.
"Bastard! Sick bastard!"
She swung down hard, the axe blade slicing into the mans skull. There was a silk sound of the blade hitting brain tissue, and then the man stopped moving, his body going slack.
Cindy managed to get four feet before she leaned over and vomited, the axe blade still embedded in the man's skull. She couldn't believe she had just killed someone. She had done it before her brain had even registered what she was doing. She just...wanted him to die.

Sarah made note of the door and slammed it shut. She shoved the blade of her knife into the frame of the door, jamming it shut, just incase someone else was still in there. Then she grabbed Cindy and held her. She could feel Cindy convulsing and she was probably going into shock. Sarah rubbed her back. She recognized the reaction in Cindy that she has several months ago. Back when she had to kill someone who wasn't undead. Someone who had treated her just like this man had treated Cindy.
"You'll be okay. We are safe now. You are safe." She held Cindy for several minutes. When Cindy has calmed down a bit, she led her over to a chair and sat her down. "Drink this", she said, handing her some water. She pulled a small flask out of her own bag and handed it to Cindy. "And then drink some of this", she said, handing her some whiskey.
Sarah then pulled Cindy's ax out of the man's head and wiped it of on the dirty clothes of the guy. Then she began to gather up their things. Sarah was looking around for options. She was guessing it was the middle of the night and it wasn't wise for the two of them to ride on her bike in the dark.
But they sure as hell weren't staying here. No telling how many more people were hiding upstairs. As if on cue, the floor above the creaked.

Cindy hiccuped and took a drink of the flask, coughing and gasping as she get the whiskey burn her throat. She looked up when the floor creaked again, and back to the shape that had to be Sarah.
"We have to get out of here. They'll come and they'll get us. I need my glasses. And my clothes. There has to be somewhere we can go. Anywhere but here."
Even though her voice wasn't panicked and higher put her than normal, her voice was hushed. She knew that if someone was up there, they had to have heard the shots, and knew something was going on.

Sarah was already packing up her stuff. First, she reloaded her Glock. She would have liked to pick up the spent brass but now was not the time for it. She pulled on sweatshirt and sweatpants and her shoes. Then she rolled up her sleeping bag and tried it down to the bike. She picked up her rifle and checked it, swinging it over her shoulder. Backpack on top.
Her attention was drawn to the secret door as footsteps came pounding down the stairs. The secret door moved and inch and stopped. She ran to the door and fired two shots into the opening. The sound of cursing and a body dropping was the result. She slammed the door again and ran to her bike. She kicked the couch out of the way, and fired up her bike.
Looking back at Cindy, she yelled. "Hop on."
The bike wasn't meant for two people, but they were both small so it should carry them. Plus, there wasn't much of a choice at them point.

Cindy was stalled for a moment before gathering her things. She found her glasses and quickly re-dressed, not wanting to be left behind, or the cause of them not being able to escape. Tossing the blankets and mess kit back into her pack she closed the top and got it onto her back before getting on the motorcycle as well. Her entire body was shaking as she heard the people trying to get back out from the jammed door. How many of them were down there?
"Go! Go! Go!"
