The Big Bear was created by a group of hunters which frequent the area often. This is almost set up like a small inn, with a dinner service and a small bar.

EVIL smelled human flesh in this direction. He waited in the forest, not having killed a hostile in the longest time. He had been wandering forever in the forest after he had ambushed that group of soldiers. They weren't much of a match.
He had cut them all down without wasting his flamethrower, slicing and dicing as he ran circles around them. The night and forest cover had allowed him to move in and out of sight, as well as grabbing and pulling them into the darkness from which they would never return.
Now, he waited in the woods around the lodge. Humans would come here wouldn't they? He smiled thinking about it. His teeth, pointy and bloodied, were covered in saliva, and his mouth was dripping. He crouched, hiding in the tree line.

S***—closeclosecloseclose!
Kodi had just barely dash through the door and slammed it behind him—
—and then suddenly the wooden door began splintering, breaking inward slightly as whatever that thing was rammed against the barrier that kept Kodi safe...for now...
That door wasn't going to hold. Since most of it was made of wood, it can easily break, but as long as enough force is applied. Since the thing made a dent in it however, it would only take a couple of tackles to knock it down, or if the monster places the charges well, do it in lesser amount of time. Kodi didn't have a choice; he would have to fight. Running would only be more lethal as he could face the possibility of coming to a dead end or being trapped in a room.
The gun made a metallic click as Kodi raised his USP and pulled back the hammer. He aimed the deadly end at where the creature continued scratching at the door and fired.
It only took three shots before the thing yelped like a wounded dog and ceased its attempts to destroy the door. Kodi didn't even dare open the door, but he did see some of the creature through the newly creature bullets holes in the door. It was very difficult to see through them, but the colors of fleshy red and black appeared.
Muscle...? Impossible. A skinned animal would scum to bacterial infection in the matter of minutes...
Kodi took several breathes before he lowered his gun and stepped away from the door. Now that thing was dead, or at least incapacitated, exploring the area would be a tad bit safer. Kodi finally noticed that he was in a hall. white tile lined the floors, and white paint was spread across the entire walls. It was dark, but a small light illuminated around the right corner of the L-shaped hallway. Kodi followed it, turning around the bend and heading forward.
The light came from a small lantern on top of a stove at the back of the room—which apparently is a kitchen. The large cooking area was divided into eyes horizontally by the number of large baking appliances that seemed to take up much of the kitchen's space. There were several lights in the white ceiling above, but either the power was out or the lights were dead. It was okay though, the lantern gave off enough illumination to—
Something shined on the metal table infront of Kodi.
He couldn't recognize it at first, but as he moved closer, its shaped was clear: a gun. Revolver to be exact, and while Kodi didn't know the exact model, it was a Colt Python (.357 Magnum). It's silver metal gleamed silently, but the handle was blocked by an object holding it—
—which was a severed hand, the cold and pale fingers still gripping the black-painted wooden grip. The end was ragged and purple, suggesting it had been awhile since the victim's appendage was ripped off. If it were another scenario, Kodi would've immediately tried to seek attention, but with the entire area seemingly forsaken and barren (in other words dead), he needed all the protection he could get. Apparently something happened here, and the place wasn't safe.
And maybe just not Arklay Mountains; the entire city could could be like this. But what is going on here in the first place? Where is everyone? Where are all the cops, hunters, and hikers in this lounge? ...Where's Kiara...?
Kodi sighed depressingly and checked his watch. It read 8:12.
It was already nighttime, and the journey to the city would even be riskier. It would be best if Kodi stayed here for a bit and had a look around, and who knows, maybe he'll find more weapons or keys to a car out infront.
Or perhaps someone alive...
Reluctantly, Kodi stepped toward the severed hand holding the revolver and proceeded to pry its cold fingers from the firearm. He grimaced, disgusted and hoped that he wouldn't catch any diseases from the rotten flesh. After wiping the gun down a bit with his shirt, he checked the bullets it held.
Four shots.
He tucked in his USP by then and kept the Colt Python in his hand. It would be a long night before he could reach safety, and the first thing to do was to search the kitchen a bit more, then the entire lounge, then high-tail it out of here and head toward the city.

A huge kick shattered the wood on the door, allowing EVIL to squeeze his way in. He smiled as he walked into the door. He could smell the human, hear his breathing. He breathed out hard to let him know he was in.
He walked, now frowning, to where he could hear footsteps. He was pretty sure he saw the man, stopped to look at him. He swayed his head left to right, saliva running down his lips.
He raised up his flamethrower, his eyes wide and red, saliva still dripping down hitting the floor in plops. He pulled the trigger and released a burst in the man's direction.

A flash of deep orange light flooded and shined the metal appliances infront of Kodi. There was also the sound of air rushing and something burning...fast. The air was also suddenly warm, but it quickly rose pass that, only serving to raise in temperature until it got hot and the feeling was unmistakable for—
—fire—
Kodi instinctively rolled to his right side, tumbling down the aisle to the left—
—but a searing, hot pain soon sparked and shot up from his left upper arm to his shoulder.
He landed on his back behind a table counter, immediately checking on his throbbing arm to see that it was burnt. The black clothing that once surrounded the fabric was gone and the edges glowing a vibrant red, indicating that a flame had eaten away at the cloth. The skin underneath was somewhat blacked and throbbing red, with some skin eaten away and showing the pale-red layer underneath. The wound stung sharply, but he would still be able to move his arm and recover if he got out alive.
Plop...plop...plop....
The sound of heavy drops of liquid were now audible to Kodi, originating somewhere near the hallway he came from. Kodi could also somewhat see a figure standing in the hallway. He rose his head a bit to see who it was. He regretted doing it.
The first thought that came into Kodi's head was shinigami (death god), but the monster standing eight feet tall infront of him looked more like Satan from Christianity then anything else. The only human resemblances were its arms, legs, and torso in general, heavily packed with muscle, but the resemblance ended there. It was shirtless, but its legs were covered in some kind of soldier camouflage, adding more of a soldier look to its demonic appearance. It's feet and hands carried long, curved claws that were designed for ripping flesh. Its head was repulsive, having the general shape of a pig but with horns that came out of its head to give it the impression that it was Lucifer. Razor sharp teeth packed its jaws, with fangs hanging out in the front, probably able to crush bone. And the thing that really disturbed Kodi besides its hairless body was its eyes: they glowed red like the fire that nearly cooked him alive a few moments ago.
Kodi then finally noticed the weapons the creature carried. The first one was some kind of rifle or advanced weaponry, but it had some kind of canister attached to the bottom of it and a small blue flame spouted from the muzzle—a flamethrower. There were also large daggers melded into the creature's knuckles, giving it a even more dangerous appearance.
He only stared at it for one more second before realizing that the creature must've burnt him with its flamethrower. With that kind of weapon, he was surely outmatched, and by its build, it looked like simple bullets weren't going to kill it.
Run.
Kodi kicked himself from the ground and began madly dashing toward the door on the opposite end of the kitchen. As he did, he turned his head around and raised his Colt Python, taking aim at the creature and firing two rounds from the revolver, then continued running. The kickback was much stronger than Kodi was prepared for, making his hand ache from the sudden force, but he ignored it and kept running.

"RAWWWWRRRRRRR!!!" EVIL let out a terrible noise as he looked for the man who he had set on fire. He searched all around, then stood still. The drool dripped and hit the floor with an echo. He could smell the man, still around. The sweat and fear seemed to resonate from the man's body.
He saw a form jump up and run, along with a flash and two loud "BANGS". He felt a slight pain in his arm, but watched as the other flew past his shoulder. He frowned looking at the small bit of blood that came from his arm, then dug the bullet out with one of his claws. "Breee...." He made a silent noise as he pulled it out, then went back to his prey.
He raised the flamethrower again, then decided against it. He wrapped it around his back and got down on all fours. He smiled again. He charged at the running man, teeth bared and spit flying all over.

Damn, it's fast!
Kodi knew all too well that he didn't have enough time to reach the door, now that the creature was charging at him. He had to run, but Kodi needed to buy some time in order to create that window of escape. He was doubtful however. From the two bullets fired earlier, he was pretty sure at least one hit the creature. Revolver rounds weren't like standard nine-millimeters; .357 Magnum rounds could easily cripple someone, and because the creature showed no sign of any pain, the revolver and his USP were now practically useless in a sense.
Gotta find a weakness—eyes maybe.
Making a sharp turn to the right, Kodi began running down a isle while raising the Colt Python. He tried his best to aim carefully and fired the last two rounds at the creature.

EVIL took a shot to the nose that knocked him down for a minute. He fell to the ground, feigning death. He hoped the man would come near him, if not he would catch him off guard.
EVIL began to breath slowly, not appearing alive, mouth shut, and eyes closed. But, he could still smell. He made sure that his arm holding the flamethrower was outstretched so it appeared interesting. Humans were petty in EVIL's experience.
He had once been hunting Policemen when they actually proved challenging to find. He couldn't seem to catch one or two at a time, since the others would outsmart him and use corners and buildings to hide in. He found an interesting way to bring them out.
He would take live children and capture them, leaving them tied up in the street during the night. In the early morning, the child screaming, police would come out to assist. He would catch and kill them all in a trap once that happened. He smiled when he did, proud of himself.
He laid there keeping the emotion off of his face. He hoped his little guise worked.

Kodi stood at the other side of the room panting, holding his pained upper arm with his right hand. The revolver he had earlier—now out of ammo—was on the ground infront of him. He tossed it aside after that last shot. Kodi stared at the monster in some relief. He doubt it was dead, but perhaps one of the large rounds knocked it out....
The door that led into the lounge was on the opposite side to the right of Kodi. Slowly, he moved all the way to the right side of the room before going down the isle toward the door.
He thought about going back outside from the way he came in, but with the wound that had just been inflected on him, Kodi would surely catch an infection if he didn't find some kind of first aid kit. Besides, he could miss that chance of finding weapons inside a hunting lounge like this—probably a rifle or shotgun at the least.
Maybe even some food or water; this place must have some kind of supplies storage.

EVIL waited for the man to pass, and then slowly crouched and stood. He began to sneak somewhat, tip-toeing behind the man. He was getting ready to walk up behind him and snatch him up by his neck. He would slit his throat when he got a chance. He was somewhat excited. Drool hit the floor, and he was just about 3 feet away from the man.

Plop...plop...plop—
—no—
That same sound—the sound of something heavy and liquid hitting the tile waved out through the air and went into Kodi's ears. They were the same as last time; it was the saliva from the creature splattering on the cold floor. If it was still plopping on the floor however...that meant that the creature was standing up—
—and right behind me—
Kodi's left foot moved ahead of his right, hovering off the ground for a split second. Then at the same time the foot began to move counter-clockwise, Kodi twisted his body toward the left, spinning at the direction behind him. His leg flew through the air in a roundhouse kick, the air silently wooshing as his limb cut through empty space.
He had approximated for the creature to be at least eight feet tall—maybe seven-and-a-half. Kodi doubted the kick will even cause harm to the creature, but maybe...just maybe he can push it back...knock it down...anything to keep at bay and buy himself time. Of course the creature might catch his foot and throw him, or slash at it with its knives, but either way, it was the only defense he had, and for the sake of himself and Kiara, he hoped that his martial arts practice would pay off.

EVIL took the kick in the ribs, but simply looked at the man's foot. He looked back up into the man's face and smiled, staring him down with those red eyes.
EVIL clenched his fist and pushed it forward with full force, while trying to grab the man's leg. The window behind the man lead back outside, and EVIL was aiming to put him straight through it. He continued to stare the man down with a menacing grin. EVIL would make him feel powerless, and then....end his life.

...oh s***...
Kodi wasn't on the ground anymore. Tumbling through the air, his back crashed against an object—
—which apparently was a window, since he felt the barrier break apart, spray his body with sharp pieces, before he heard the sound of it shattering. A pain then spiked up his side as he landed on cold, mud, his right cheek against the semi-solid ground. His pants and jacket were now completely dirty; the mud had splashed on him. There were also small nicks and cuts on his face and on his hands from the glass. Kodi was alright though, except for his hurting back and right side, but pain was manageable. At least the thing didn't decide to stab him or anything, but instead, it countered his kick by literally pushing him into the air and out the window.
Still, the pain was aching. All Kodi wanted to do was sleep it off...just shut his eyes and forget about the creature...forget about his life...forget about Kiara—
—no—
Through clenching teeth and sheer will power, Kodi slowly got up to his feet, but was leaning over, his body still aching from the attack.
He couldn't give up.
He won't give up.
Even if he was only armed with the remaining three bullets in his USP (which was tucked in his pocket), there was still a chance, but he had to think of something quick. At this state, aiming for the eyes or mouth is totally out of the option; his hands would be too shaky to aim correctly from the pain his body still flashed through, but maybe he could use the environment to his advantage....
Around Kodi was the outside. Behind him laid the forest, while infront was the shattered window with dark brown, wooden walls spreading out for a couple of meters, but on the right laid the true front entrance. A simple double-door sheltered by a roof with support beams on each front corner, the structure spanning outward of the building by about three to four meters. On the sides of the door were small shrubs and two large spotlights—probably used as an attraction or as a easier way to locate the lounge.
Maybe, if Kodi was quick enough, he could get inside the lobby through the front doors and lock it, and with enough time, search the complex for a weapon and prepare to fight the creature. At his status however, Kodi was very doubtful he could do that, and his mathematical side stated that it was statistically impossible for him to do that unless an unknown came into play and altered the outcome...
Chaos theory...
The subject played into his mind for a split-second. Small changes in a scenario can easily affect the outcome on a wide scale. He had to find something to help him—not a weapon—ward off the creature and scare it away.
Fire? Bright light?
This thing wasn't human, but it acted like an animal, and so maybe possibly...just possibly he could scare the creature or have it back off with one of the spotlights near the entrance. Even if it didn't scare it away, maybe he could blind it for a split second to make a lunge inside and lock the doors. His best bet, but if Kodi failed, he was in for much more pain...and possibly death.
Grabbing his USP, Kodi began limping as fast he could to the spotlight. Taking aim at the window and beyond it, he fired the last three shots in his pistol as the monster came into view from an angle before dropping it onto the ground.
After that, he madly limped toward the light. Thankfully it was plugged into the wall already, but that might not make a difference if the creature was fast enough to hop out the window and grab him.

EVIL covered his eyes, backing away from the light. "RAWWWWW!!" He continued backing up, eventually falling over and running into the darkness of the forest. He kept his distance, waiting around for the man to come out. He let out a low growl in the distance, making sure the man knew that he was still being hunted.
His eyesight was the reason light was a problem. It was mainly nocturnal vision, and had to sleep in darkness. He could walk around fine in the early morning, but bright lights burned into his eyes, a failure that was not corrected by his creators.
But for his imperfections, he was still a killer, and a good one. He brought his flamethrower back to his front. He wanted something toasty to eat.

Kodi sighed with relief as he watched the creature run off into the forest, but because it emitted a growl and Kodi heard it, that meant that it hadn't given up on trying to kill him yet. He wasn't sure how in hell he was going to go further now. Being on the ground, holding the spotlight as defense, as soon as he left and went inside the building, that shinigami would follow him. The only thing Kodi could think of was just to wait....
That's not an option—at least not a logical one. I'm in no shape to stay awake and fend for myself for even for a couple of hours at minimal. Not without treating my wounds. And I doubt anyone will come...I'm most likely the only living human in the forest....
I need help....
Helplessness.
The emotion tore through him harshly. Never had Kodi needed to face such a ruthless lesson in all his life. Now that he was all alone with no one to help him or encourage him and one of the most deadliest creatures has targeted him, there was nothing he could do...
...except wait....
His breathe was somewhat audible as he slightly panted, trying desperately to come up with a solution. While the light scared it off, he needed something bigger...much bigger to drive it away from Kodi. He needed something that will scare the monster away from here—make it leave him alone.
I can wait here for a bit and think on it...but not too long. I might not be able to have the strength to get up if I stay on the ground for an extended period of time....
