A portion of a towering skyscraper pierces the sky- but it's not all glamor and beauty. This skyscraper is still half-built, which means construction will be halted almost indefinitely if the outbreak continues. It's a very dangeorus place to be. Equipment of deserted union workers dot the ground: screwdrivers, axes, chainsaws, jackhammers, regular hammers, hard hats, wrenches etc.. A dozen abandoned bulldozers and bobcats litter the area, rusting metal slowly clawing to the surface of the machine. A towering crane sits in the center of the zone, a huge slab of metal hanging from the chain- unable to be moved due to rust and erosion. There's no telling when this place will fall apart, and it's apparant that it will sometime soon. Zombies and dead bodies are crowding the asphalt and dirt-covered soil. There is scaffolding around the half-built tower, allowing entry into the monolithic structure; it's not too sturdy though.

Kaz wondered onto the construction site somewhat blindly, not knowing where to start in his search for his parents. He figured that it would be easy to hide in a construction site, but as he reached the gate, he looked in to see many zombies. Kaz still hadn't actually encountered a zombie yet, he froze in front of the gate to the area, seeing for the first time, a zombie close up. The horrible injuries all over the walking corpse disgusted him, he did not know how to react.
Snapping out of it, he cast his eyes over the site, of course he could not see it all from that position, but so far he just saw lots of zombies. He put one hand on the handle to his Taurus revolver, feeling safer.

Chrys wiped the cold off of her nose, she figured she'd get a cold sitting up on the roof tops but it was a hell of a lot safer in the long run. A beating sound vibrated through the air from god knew what position, "Huhhhh, it's probably just more gun fire in the distance..." she said to herself. The last air craft which had flown over the top of Raccoon City was a good three weeks ago now, half the time it was Sincill Corp. choppers that were on threat alert runs rather than survivor pickups.
Her opinion changed though when the beating started growing more loud and heavy; Chrysil sat up on the deck chair to look around herself, pushing a lock of tangled hair off of her face before looking vertical. For the first time in a while she was happy that she was wrong, a H-6 'Littlebird' was flying overhead rather slow. She stood up, waving her arms about before pitching her highest whistle possible.
It flew past, albeit slow it completely ignored her; Chrys then noticed there wasn't a search light flashing about anywhere from the cockpit. The chopper dipped low to a halt before dropping a ladder off the side, "Oh wow!" she started, "Someone is air dropping into Raccoon City?" excitement began to flow through her, what if it was someone on a mission? "Scoop time!" she bucked to herself before clicking her tongue and climbing down the fire escape ladder, Phoenix joining in the decent.
Chrys was quick to reach the location, looking upwards at the chopper; her distance was keen though, last thing she wanted to do was run into a cleaner group. She hopped up ontop of a semi-trailer cabin and began tacking snap shots of the vessel as a person started climbing down. She zoomed in closer.
It wasn't long until the man had hit the ground and the chopper took off, Chrys was slightly disappointed that she had missed out on her potential escape. She started to approach the man a block or so further down before noticing that there was another person within the same distance. The two conversed and Chrys began to worry that she was missing out on possible information for a case, but the conversation was short and it took less time for the two to erupt in combat. The dweller was the first to attack, slashing out at the man; Chrys' camera was already up and tacking shots. The guy from the chopper was quick to dispatch him though, a kick, three punches, and then immediate decapitation all caught on camera.
There was a hint of concern, it was okay that the dweller had attacked first, but the fact that the man from the chopper had finished him off on the spot troubled Chrysil.
She'd made her decision though.
Chrysil followed the guy another block giving herself time to back off from the scoop but she knew that her mind was already made up back at the rooftop. She gave in to the nagging and followed her instincts. Chrys held her hand up to wave and shouted, "Hey!" several tonnes of regret suddenly dropping on her head, "Wait!"
A crunch of gravel as Chrys skidded to a stop in front of the guy, her awareness fanning out and covering the rest of the street as she realized there were quite a few zombies neaby; the man placed a hand on his revolver, the threat bar above his head just went up a few notches, "Woah," Chrys started, "Don't shoot, I'm not like that last guy," she held her camera up for a clear view, "This'all I'm armed with, sir,"
The virtual notepad in Chrys' head flicked open as she fired up, "I just saw you hopping off of that helicopter, you gotta be nuts to air drop into the city...mister..." Chrys slowed down to register she hadn't actually leant the guys name yet, "I'm Chrysil Evadne," she held out her hand, "What might your name be?"

Kaz turned to face this new survivor. He considered for a moment that she might have a hidden weapon, but she seemed harmless. "Chrysil....." The name seemed unusal to him. "Kazuhiko Mishima. Kaz to my friends. Your taking pictures of this? Isnt that.... dangerous?" His mind flashed back to the psycho he encountered. "You saw me drop from the helicopter... So you saw the psycho. How have you survived? And.... What are they?!" He gestured towards the crowd of zombies which, fortunately, had not noticed them yet.
He saw that she had no weapon, so he unholstered his springfield pistol and held the barrel, holding the handle out for her. "Here, you can use this for now." He smiled, trying to be charming so he could make at least one friend in this city. Quickly, he remembered his goal. "Oh, have you seen two Japanese people anywhere? I'm looking for them.... Probably in business suits, mid 40s?"
Kaz thought back momentarily to just what she had said. 'Gotta be nuts to air drop into the city' These words struck him. Was the situation that bad? Did his Mother and Father even stand a chance of surviving? Were they even here? He felt sick all of the sudden, feeling like this was a wasted effort. But he was here now, he had to make something of it. Plus, his parents might be here, hiding perhaps. Which meant he had to look even harder.

Scoop Initiated!: Kazuhiko Mishima "You saw me drop from the helicopter... So you saw the psycho. How have you survived?"Chrys shrugged and pointed upwards, "Stick to the rooftops, no big dealy. Zombies are usually too stubborn to open doors, or climb stairs for that matter, 'specially destroyed stairs, they hate that... well, I interpret the increase in groan volume as hate so I assume they don't like it. Now if you come across something else like a Licker, then you start having problems, but I haven't come across one of those in a while; even if you do you just gotta be really quiet," Chrys finished the last part in a whisper. "And.... What are they?!"Kaz had pointed over towards a mob of zombies, Chrysil turned back to him with a funny look on her face, "You're kidding me right... never seen the original Dawn of the Dead?" Chrys turned back around and started taking pictures of the four lurkers, "Plenty of people have come up with names for them, walkers, shufflers, ghouls..." she looked over her shoulder back at Kaz, "But I prefer to call them Zombies," she concluded with a grin. Chrysil turned around to see Kaz holding a sidearm out to her; as if the camera was shooting washy negatives already. Chrys held her hands up, about to protest, but Kaz insisted so she figured it was only kind to accept, "Thanks," she replied, 'Hokay, so just click that flicky thing on the left side and that's the safety,' she thought to herself while pushing the lever down and then back up, "Easy," she murmured under her breath before hooking it on the back of her belt. Have you seen two Japanese people anywhere? I'm looking for them...."As Kaz was finishing his sentence Chrys adressed her camera, she'd received the same question about ten times this month, certainly not uncommon. She opened the 'Survivor' file she had loaded on the LCD screen, at least a quarter of them had Asian origin and there were approximately 500 or so pictures in the file, "Here you go," she said after taking the camera sling off from around her neck and handing the camera out to Kaz, "Search through there, I hope you find what you're looking for,"

"Z-zombies?" Kaz was about to call her crazy, but he realized it made sense. Parts missing, the awkward groans he heard, the strange shuffle. Jesus, zombies. The head... aim for the head... one bite and I'm out Kaz thought as he took it in. Showing no other reaction, he started to look through the photos. A few he recognized, people who would have accompanied his Mother and Father, but he knew them too well, they would have abandoned his parents immediately for their own gain. "It doesn't matter..." He handed the camera back.
"Are you with anyone?" He asked in a soft voice, he felt weird knowing that this woman had just been going through the city taking various pictures of people, and sticking to the rooftops. "Lickers, what are they?"
Suddenly, Kaz hard a rattling at the gate to the construction site. Turning round, he spotted a few zombies slamming their hands against it. Kaz felt nervous, what should he do? He could kill them, but e was in company and did not want to act too violently, he had been taught that first impressions were important. So instead he said "Is there any safe areas nearby?" As he spoke he could see that other zombies were getting interested also. A few, worringly, were not stuck behind the gate, and started a slow shamble towards Kaz and Chrysil. Kaz unholstered his revolver, still not sure whether he would shoot yet, it was more to regain that feeling of safety he had when holding his gun.

Chrysil found the camera handed back to her before much was really established, "Really? I take note of where I gather pictures, some of them were military checkpoints still stationed around the city," Chrys flicked the camera off to preserve battery and let it dangle around her neck.
"Yah, I'm alone here, it's not that bad. Totally different when I first got here some time ago now, but this is what I'd consider 'calm'. Sometimes things spark back up and heat rises but I wouldn't worry too much at the moment," Chrys explained pushing a hand through her hair to loosen it up, his follow up question would be a little more... difficult to explain, "That one you'd have to see for yourself, but it's better if you hope to never witness one," she waved the camera in front of herself, "If you really want to know, I've got plenty of pics of them as well," she grimmaced.
The gate to the construction site started shaking violently, Chrys looked over to see a group of zombies doing their best to make their way through. Her first thought was to look back over to the other group of zombies back down the street; they were already moving. She glanced at Kaz to see his reaction after realizing they were zombies, he had his revolver out, "Wait! Hold up a sec. You do that and you're going to bring a hell of a lot more zombies down on us than what you see here right now. I guarantee there are already another half dozen 'round the corner moving in our direction because of the moans these buzzards are giving off,"
"Is there any safe areas nearby?"
A raised brow as Chrysil pointed up for the second time in ten minutes, "I assure you there's no safe place," she said motioning to the nearest roof, "Once we're up there we can just island hop our way across the block and these zombies'll never know where we went,"

"...Ok, lets go!"
Assuming she was following him, Kaz ran to the nearest building with a flat roof. He did not know which route she would take, but this was a time when his free-running skills were handy. He vaulted onto a jeep wreck that was next to the building, he then placed one foot on the wall and quickly quicked up with his other foot to grab onto the half-broken fire escape. He pulled himself up swiftly. He ran up the few flights of stairs that were not broken, he then found himself with a wall to high to climb, so he headed inside the building. Dashing through the hallways quickly, Kaz realized he did not know where the stairs were. He saw a single zombie in the corridor ahead.
Remembering the warning, he did not shoot it. Instead, he ran straight down the narrow corridor and jumped straight at the zombie, which had not noticed him. He took one jumping kick at it's head to knock it over. It worked. He continued running through the corridors until he spotted the stairs. He ran up several flights before noticing some kind of barrier made out of furniture to the next floor. So instead he ran through the corridors on this new floor to get back to the fire escape. He avoided all of the zombies he saw, he was not in the mood for fighting. He assumed the woman he had met would be save, she had survived so far.
Finally he reached the fire escape, he ran up more stairs on it before finally reaching a point here a climb onto an ugly ventilation box that stuck out of the wall gave him enough height to reach the roof. Panting, he slumped on the roof, waiting for Chrysil.

The sudden boom of voice shocked Chrysil, she looked back over to Kaz and almost felt the rush of air as he took off stumbling a bit from the sudden amount of action that was pumped in the opposite direction. He was already halfway up the fire escape once Chrys had gathered herself together again and disappeared inside the building. Chrys hitched the camera on the side of her shirt so that it didn't flail about as she moved and began running after Kaz, groaning a little, "Its obvious that he is physically adept, but this is so not necessary." she said to herself.
Chrysil veered off of course though and aimed for the access alley that sat between the building Kaz was in and another adjacent building. Thankfully Chrys had spent enough time in this suburb to know the area well, there was a network grid housing further down the alley which was built into the side of the building that had a ladder which went straight up to the roof. The shed was locked but Chrys was nimble enouhg to fit through the fencing around the ladder which connected to the hole on the top of the shed.
The climb wasn't so bad, for some reason it made her hungry, but ever since she'd been in Raccoon City she'd gather a bit of muscle and lost a bit of weight. Not too shabby. Chrys pulled herself up onto the roof to see Kaz already standing there, waiting for her. He was breathing heavily, no surprise there; reaching the roof in less than thirty is a feat, but, "We're not done yet," she pointed to a roof top in the distance, "Probably gotta get that far till we can consider ourselves safe... I think I stashed some food up there too if I remember correctly," she said while rubbing her chin at the thought, "Can't remember what though, or whether it's expired,"
Chrys walked to the North face of the building, looking at the drop and calculating how many milliseconds she'd have left to live if she screwed up the jump before hopping onto the ledge and leaping. Her landing was a little iffy, but better than falling. She continued over to the next ledge, this jump was a little wider. She scrunched up her nose in distaste before looking to her left, a decent sized, eight or so metre long oak board lay next to a load of tools and other carpentry things. Chrys heaved it up and gently placed it over the gap before balancing her way across.
From here on in it was golden, most of the buildings were duplex's and all of the other gaps were half as wide as the last jump. That wasn't an excuse to rush, trip, smash face on pavement though. It took time but eventually Chrys reached the other end of the block satisfied with the new rooftop, slightly higher than the rest to keep herself out of view and a decent gap from all of the other rooves. The fire escapes had draw ramps which connecting to opposite buildings for the obvious reason, she left them down whenever she left a particular roof for easy access. This was one evidence then reassured her she'd been on this roof before, "Plus my photographic memory never lets me down," she said to herself while trying to recall where she'd placed the food.

Kaz went after Chrysil, landing all of his jumps near-perfectly. He balanced on the wooden board easily, and took simple small jumps for the rest of the rooftops. He made no mistake, knowing that his skills came in handy now. When he caught up with her, he spoke.
"I'm not going to lie. If you stick with me, you probably wont live long. I will be down there looking for my parents in the thick of it. I know you have some pictures to take, but it might be too dangerous for a girl like you."
He had phrased it perfectly, he only half-meant it. The main reason for those sentences was to see her reaction, aminly to potential danger, and to being told it might be too dangerous for a girl like her.
He took a quick glance over the side of the roof, seeing only a small group of zombies which did not see them, and would not have been able to each them. Kaz took a few deep breaths to recover from getting through the building at such speed.

"Gotcha!" Chrysil nearly shouted out loud, she dragged a couple of packets of crisps out of a vent shaft jutting out of the roof and turned to fling one at Kaz, "Need the calories if you want to hang around in this city," she said as she opened her own packet and stuck a chip in her mouth; she couldn't complain about the flavor, personally chicken over barbacue was better in her opinion. Chrys leaned against the vent and savored thinking about what she could be eating right now.
"I'm not going to lie. If you stick with me, you probably wont live long. I will be down there looking for my parents in the thick of it. I know you have some pictures to take, but it might be too dangerous for a girl like you."
Chrysil laughed a little at the comment, "I think you got it 'round the wrong way," she started putting a hand up to her mouth and clearing her throat, "I know half of Raccoon like the back of my hand, the rest up there-" she pointed to her head "-Is a little vague, but I can recall it if we ended up down that road," Chrys pushed herself off of the vent, "Plus I can help you look for your friends, I know where all of the military establishments are and where we could likely start if you'd give me a bit more information on where they were working, resided, or anything like that,"
Holding onto a scoop was never easy, sometimes they ran off, sometimes they died; majority of the time they prefered Chrys remained in safety while they went and did their thing, "Plus I've stashed food and equipment all along downtown, you won't have to worry about any survivors getting agressive about who saw the apple first," she smiled to put reassurance behind everything she just claimed, quickly running back over it again to make sure she hadn't unconciously lied knowing what she'd say to keep hold of a story.

Kaz smiled. Right answer, she is worth keeping around. He thought to himself. As he slowly ate the crisps he realized he knew nothing about where his parents could be. "Well, they came here on business with a corporation... called Umbrella? Heard of it?" He paused for a second, savoring he taste of food. He thought back to Rick, and wondered momentarily whether or not he really would come to pick Kaz up if he phoned him. He figured he would, Rick was a great friend.
He turned to his new ally. "So, how long have you been here? Also, what do you plan on doing, why are you here?" He felt that the questions where mandatory questions between survivors. He glanced again over the side of the roof, and spotted something else. It was on all fours and had a long tongue. It spotted him, Kaz jumped backwards, partly to get out of sight, partly he jumped out of fright. "Get your gun." He dared to look again and saw 3 of the tongue-creatures." He unholstered his revolver, loaded it and backed away. He aimed at the edge, ready to shoot the first one that came up. "Some sort of creature with a long tongue is coming. I saw it balanced on a wall, so I presume it can get up. It saw me. Get ready, aim at the edge, and shoot when you see one. Aim for the head." He realized that it was silly, the way he was barking orders even though she had been here longer than him. But he had a sort of leader instinct, and frequently barked orders before he knew what he was saying.

"...Business for Umbrella..."
Chrysil looked at Kaz awkwardly, this was where things became a little more serious and she started questioning whether he was playing her; but it didn't seem right considering her insignificance, "Umbrella," she repeated, then squinted her eyes, "You sure they said Umbrella?" the only conclusion she could make ended up being Tricell masquerading as Umbrella. Regarldess, 'This is one f*cking scoop I've stumbled across either way,' Chrysil didn't know whether she was supposed to be worried or be extremely joyful. She'd reserve exstaticly joyful after picking up the holes in the story.
Chrysil continued consuming her crisps while mulling over that one adjective, this was the stroke of luck she'd been waiting for. Chrys subconciously answered Kaz's next couple of questions while the other side of her brain started thinking about what she might possibly get her hands on in terms of information, "I've been in town for a couple'a months now, lost count really. I'm here to gather stories, stories of people, stories of military actions, stories on monsters, that kinda thing," Chrys held back on using the word 'scoop' as it made her appear a little self centered, it was the proper terminology in reporter lingue but 'story' always sounded more apealing and safe towards others, it revolved around her own personal impression she made.
"Get your gun. Some sort of creature with a long tongue is coming. I saw it balanced on a wall, so I presume it can get up. It saw me."
Chrysil felt like slapping Kaz, although overwhelmed at the fact that Lickers were around the area, 'And in packs!' Chrys exclaimed in her head. She lunged at Kaz putting a hand over his mouth before pushing his gun down, her eyes wide and glaring at his making sure that she got the message across that he was doing something incredibly wrong. Her heart was pounding as she looked back over to where Kaz had been standing, one huge claw clasped the edge; Chrys tightened her grip on Kaz's gun doing her best to hold his urge to fire at the thing.
Chrys took her hand off of Kaz's mouth; she had to decide between which to let go, mouth or gun, they both seemed potentially endangering to them; in the end she required at least one hand free to motion to him. She pointed her index and middle finger over at the Licker which was emerging over the wall, and then pointed both fingers at her eyes before shaking them infront of herself. Finally Chrys put her index finger up to her lips, tapping them twice. If Kaz didn't get that then they were screwed, Chrys tested by letting go of the gun and began moving slowly towards the rooftop door cringing as the packet of crisps in her hand crackled slightly from its swaying movement. Another two Lickers had climbed up to join it and all of them were fanning out in tandem to scour the rooftop; Chrys noticed that one of them were looking directly at her, as much as it seemed that way she had to keep it in her head that it couldn't see her.

Kaz realized what she meant, no noise = no attack. But he realized that they would find them. Formulating a plan, Kaz silently moved into Chrysil's view. "Run" He mouthed to her. He gave her 30 seconds to get away as he slowly edged towards the fire escape. Finally he banged his gun onto the rail of the escape, making a loud noise which attracted the licker's attention. He continue banging until all 3 were advancing on him. Swearing in Japanese under his breath, Kaz fired two shots at one licker, killing it as the bullets penetrated it's thin skull. He then jumped right off the fire escape.
He had a brief feeling of shock, as you always get when falling from a high place. But he quickly remembered his plan, and grabbed out for the fire escape rail. He found it 3 floors down, hitting his hands roughly on the rail, but getting a decent grip. He vaulted over the escape, then ran into the building. He stayed at a narrow corridor, and waited for the lickers. His plan worked, as they advanced down the narrow corridor, he picked them off easily with his revolver. The loud shots echoing throughout the building. Once the 3 were dead, he immediately ran through the building, looking for Chrysil. His plan wasnt over yet.

There was a moment of disbelief as Chrys attemtped to read Kaz's lips, at first she looked at him quizically and mouthed back, "What?" while still backpeddaling to the rooftop door. Her first interpretation of it was 'right', but after mouthing it a couple of times to herself she realized that he'd mouthed her to 'run'. Chrys looked back up to Kaz with a slightly mortified stare and began waving her arms to follow him, making time out gestures and most of all pointing furiously towards the rooftop door as their means of escape.
It continued right up to the point of where Kaz had moved over to the fire escape ladder and brought his hand up; that was it, Chrys turned and blasted towards the door, colliding with it. The hinges snapped and it quickly turned into a bobsled down the stairs halfway to the next level; it collided with a pile of garbage, its momentum pulling it around the curve and down the next stair set crashing through the stairwell door onto the next floor. Chrysil quickly recovered, getting her barings on where she was exactly and turned to the hall side window, opening it and looking upwards to see Kaz falling.
Several ounces of her soul pitfalled to hell as she watched him pass another two floors, doing everything she could to hold in the scream that was threatening to pierce the air. Kaz was fine though, he'd grabbed hold of the fire escape halfway down and dragged himself inside the building, "God damnit." Chrysil whispered to herself and leaned back inside the building, heading back for the stair well.
Chrysil passed another four stair sets, jumping the last six or so every time, before she was finally at the same floor as Kaz. Halfway down she'd heard several gunshots; if a scream followed, it meant her scoop opportunity was lost, "Bad, bad, bad, bad. This is bad," she said, her voice vibrating as she hit each step at a crazy speed. The second stair well door she rammed through hurt a lot more than the last, considering she didn't have the roof top door toboggan to help her out in that endeavour; a small bruise on her left shoulder was nothing compared to a tongue through the chest thought.
The hairs on the back of Chrysil's neck stood up just as she'd began heading down the west hallway, almost stumbling over the two Lickers. At first she figured her life was over and that was the end, shaken from head to toe; Chrysil failed to noticed the bullet wounds though, breathing heavily from the scenario she'd been placed in, "Kaz!" she shouted, fearing the potential worst for him. If he bored any marks from any of the Lickers then time was dangerously short for him.
