Joe woke up to notice he was sharing a room with Thornton and that Andreya was with him crying again. As he rolled over he felt the tug from the IV drip attached to his arm and the heart monitor on his chest, shifting to look at everyone whilst giving the wires and tubes enough slack rather than yank them out.
"Well, my first operation, kinda fun but these drugs are making me see double." He blinked trying to adjust. "Of course it's only fair I have my turn, you already had yours back in Racoon, wouldn't be right."
One of the nurses entered and dropped off his gear and clothing, including his bag and medallian.
"I think I had a knife in there."
"We can't allow patients to have weapons, especially whilst on drugs, you and Mr Thornton can pick those up when you leave."
"and didn't I have a shirt?"
"Sir, we had to cut that off to operate, just wear one of your others."
Joe avoided looking at her. "Yes...others, would be silly not to have a spare."

Thorton didn’t know what to say when Andreya let out everything she did. Maybe it was just the drugs he was still on, but he was at a loss for words. He simply wrapped his arm around her and hugged her closely. He was looking foreword to things going back to normal. Laying low and recovering for a while. In the meantime, staying home with her. It’d been a long time since they’d gotten a chance like this. From the time she’d first come to live with him, she was always busy. Mainly with her schooling. Now… He was pretty sure she wouldn’t be going back to that school anytime soon.
He watched the nurse bring in bags for Joe and himself, and watched her stop at the door and look at Andreya. He waved his hand in a motion that told her to go away, and she did with a roll of her eyes. He didn’t much care at the moment if she liked it or not.

Andreya stood up from hugging Thorton, and wiped her eyes. She looked down at Shocks as she had curled up on the pillow and fallen asleep. She smiled lightly as she looked around the room. "I guess I should go, but . . . but I don't want to be alone," she said lightly. Looking down at the ground she let out a heavy sigh. She looked at Thorton as he smiled. Andreya smiled back and hugged him again. "Thank you," she said lightly. She ran around to the chair in the room, and pulled it around to the second one. She sat down in one, and propped her feet up on the other. "Thank you," she said lightly as she rested her head on the railing of Thorton's bed. She looked back at Joe and grinned. "Thank you for helping me."

"Don't mention it, just try to feel better, both of you."
Joe stood from his bed, taking the blanket with him and rolling the IV tree along whilst using it for balance. He found his way over eventually and threw the blanket over Andreya, she could use it more than him. As he made his way back one of the nurses came into the room.
"Great, more of you soldiers with the macho bull, 'I don't need rest or recovery, I'll just walk it off'. Bed. Now."
"But I'm not a.." He was cut off as the nurse led him back to the bed and nearly forced him down.
"Lucky you didn't pop those stitches." She left grumbling.
"...............So, would anyone be up for ice cream when they let us go? I'll buy."

“Damn…” Thorton managed to let out as he watched the nurse leave the room. Last time he’d been in the hospital they were in an active war zone. The building getting shelled was almost a daily occurrence. “Coulda used nurses like that in Desert Storm.” He said, looking over at Joe.
He wrapped his arm around Andreya, pulling the blanket up a bit to cover her shoulders. He silently wondered how long he’d be here. How long it would be before they could get back to a normal life. As normal as possible, anyway. Maybe they’d finally get it in their heads that it was a bad idea to come after her again. Cut the losses of every man they’d lost trying, as well as money and resources, and run. Maybe it was time for them to run. Thorton had the money and resources. They could disappear and never be heard from again, especially in the state the world was in. Maybe Joe had somewhere they could go? He was from nowhere, as far as anyone who tried to find out knew. A place like that seemed perfect.
He looked over at Joe and smirked when he mentioned going out for ice cream. “Sounds like an idea.” He said simply.

Andreya had fallen asleep at some point between Joe covering her up, and Thorton pulling the blanket up even more. Though it wasn't a wanted sleep, but something a bit more unwanted. She was slowly starting to feel bad through out the day, and finally being able to relax and sit down she fell into a deep slumber. Her body was finally starting to react to the lack of medication she hadn't taken over the weeks because of their endeavors. First the pain had set in, but she was asleep the slight movement of her body was evident that she was hurting. Then her breathing had become slightly ragged making it a bit harder to breath, but again it wasn't that noticeable because she was sleeping.
She moaned slightly as she shifted again. Her body felt hot, and the sweet forming on her forehead seemed to only disappear after a moment. Her hands drew up slightly as she pulled the blanket closer to her. There was a knock on the door, but unlike the others she didn't turn to see who it was or even bothered waking up for that fact.
"Johnson," the General spoke as he stepped into the room. He looked at Joe and nodded slightly before looking at Andreya and Thorton. "She should really be home in bed," he said as he walked up to the bed. "You should tell her to head home and get some rest. We'll have guards at the apartment and here until we figure out how they got past our security," he pointed out. He looked down at the small kitten as she stood from her spot on Thorton's pillow, and walked over to Andreya. The kitten nudged the side of her cheek that rested on the railing. It let out a small 'mew' before nudging her again.
Again the kitten let out a small 'mew' and looked around like it was pleading. "She's okay, she's just sleeping," the General said as he stroked the kitten. "Here," he said as he shook her shoulder. "Andreya," he said lightly, but she didn't respond. "Andreya dear," he said shaking her again. He was starting to get a tad worried. "Andreya!" he shouted as he shook her a bit more but she didn't even respond.
"Great more of you. Visiting hours are over," the nurse said as she stepped into the room with the clipboard. "Doesn't anyone follow . . ."
"Get the doctor now!" the General ordered as he glared at the nurse. She stood there for a moment before leaving the room. It was a short time later the doctor returned with the nurse. The General pointed at Andreya. "She's not responding to touch or sound."
The doctor walked up to Andreya with the penlight in hand opening her eyelids and checking her pupils. "Her eyes are dilated, go ahead and get a stretcher in here," he told the nurse. He checked her pulse her blood pressure, and then her respiration. Walking out of the room and returning again with the nurse and several others. He walked over to the chair and knelt down. Pulling out several needles as he quickly gave her several shots. "Pull up her files," he told the nurse. He stepped aside as one of the men picked up Andreya and laid her on the stretcher and took her out of the room. "I want to say she's suffering from an asthma attack, but there are several other signs of different things in there as well. Were going to do an extensive test to find out why she didn't wake up, and I'm going to talk with her doctor. Because if I'm right I've had her in here before?" he asked looking at Thorton. He nodded slightly almost looking like he was stunned. "Alright, I'll keep you informed on what is going on." After that he quickly left.
The General looked around the room a bit stunned himself. He knew that Andreya wasn't all to healthy little girl, but she just seemed fine earlier when she was with him. He looked at Thorton and walked over to the bed. The kitten was now at Thorton's side meowing like crazy. "I know your not going to stay in this bed with her in the ER. Tell me what you want me to do."

Joe lay staring at the ceiling trying to sleep, waving to the General when he entered. As soon as the trouble started however, he rushed up yanking the IV tube from his arm, trying to follow the medical crew before they got to far ahead towards the ER. He turned back to Thornton and the General.
"It was my fault wasn't it? All the excitement, I should have been looking out for her better, trying to keep things calmer."
He picked up the kitten when it padded over towards him, letting it curl up in one arm.
"I'm sorry Thornton."

“It’s not your fault. Its no one’s fault.” Thorton said, bent over as he tied his boot hurriedly. He grabbed his brace and slipped his leg through it, holding it in place as he cinched the buckles down. He was halfway dressed, his pants and boots on. He, like Joe, didn’t have a shirt anymore. Instead he kept the hospital gown on.
He went to the medical cabinet and pulled out some tape. He’d looked at the IV bags he was hooked to. Morphine for pain. He tore off a strip and held it in his teeth for a moment, pulling the needle out of his arm and holding the small gauze pad that was already there in place. He wrapped the tape around tightly and started moving to the door.
“If you could get me through to the ER, I’d greatly appreciate it Sir.” Thorton said. No way they’d let him in on his own, but the General was in charge on this base. They couldn’t tell him anything, and if he chose to have Thorton come along, so be it.

The Genereal patted Joe on the back as they moved down the hall. When they reached the ER he tapped on the window and one of the nurses let him in. "There was a young woman who was brought in just a few minutes ago." She pointed to room 5 and then went about her work. The General followed the room numbers and stopped at the door as several nurses left. He knocked on the door and the doctor motioned them into the room. Once everyone was in the room he shut the door behind him. "What's up?" he asked a bit casually.
"How long has she been off her medication?" he asked as he looked up. When Thorton infromed him about what happened in Racoon he nodded slightly. "That explains a lot," he said as he wrote down on the clipboard. "Her body's starting to react negatily against the lack of her medication. What happened at the cabin and the inn probably wasn't just because of the virus. Her body was going threw the withdrawl from the lack of medication." He jotted down a few more things before looking up. He checked over the IV bags before replacing another bag.
"She's a very sick child. Where having to flood her system with antibiotics, and several other medication in order to bring her body back under control. Like before the medication she takes she'll have to stick to it. You'll have to keep her up until she's fully back up on her feet. She should wake up soon, and once she does she'll be ready to check out. Though I wonder if the two of you where released to be out of bed," he said eyeing Thorton and Joe.

Joe thanked the General and Thornton for the support during his panic attack, heading behind one of the curtains to get dressed. Unfortunatly still not having replaced it he had to stay shirtless for the meantime, at least he'd retrieved his medallion. Shocks balanced on his shoulder as he followed the group towards the ER. On the way the generals aide handed him a drink.
"Here, saw you were a bit unstable, this might help."
Joe downed it in a few gulps, grinding his teeth from the taste as he swallowed. "That stuff has quite a kick." He helped the kitten balance again, it nearly dropping off whilst he drank. "What is it?"
".......pepsi."
When the group got to the observation area, they listened to the doctor, Joe shocked at what they had went through before they met.
"Sorry for disturbing the procedure of your hospital, we were just concerned, Andreya and Thornton have become good friends since we met."

Thorton wanted to say something to the doctor, inform him that Joe spoke for himself and for all Thorton cared the hospital could shove the policy where the sun didn’t shine. But he didn’t. He stood by Andreya’s bedside, gripping the railing and looking down at her.
Out of habit he looked up, looking at her IV bags and drips. They’d been betrayed in a situation just like this, with the exact same set of circumstances. Anyone who didn’t know him very well always thought he was too paranoid. Anyone who knew either of them well, and that was a short list, knew they had perfectly good reason to look over their shoulders at every turn. He hated that she had to live like that…
“I’m staying here.” He said, more a fact than a statement. He pulled up a chair from beside her bed and sat down, all but ignoring everyone else in the room.

The General chuckled slightly as he shook his head. "I'll go get both of your paper works filled out," he said as he walked out of the room.
The doctor shook his head and sighed. "This job is just to stressful. I should have stopped at a simple doctors office," he mummbled as he headed for the door. "She should be waking up soon. I'll be back in a bit to check her out and release her," he said as he disappeared behind the curtain.
It was about a couple hours later after Joe had settled into a chair himself. Andreya moaned slightly as she stirred in the bed. The monitor bleeping as it registered the change in her body. She laid there for a moment her breathing regular and her body releaxed a bit more. She slowly opened her eyes and looked around the brightly lit room. Squinting for a moment till her eyes adjusted. At first she thought she was alone until she heard the soft breathing in the room. Shifting a bit she looked at Thorton her mind still struggling to understand why she was in a bed and he in a chair.
It then dawned on her and she felt the tears in her eyes. "I . . . I'm . . . I'm sorry," she stiffled her want to cry. She felt awful that he was in a chair, but she was in a bed. That he was hurt, and she made it worse in the end. She coughed on her tears as she turned to look up at the ceiling and used her hand to cover her mouth as she continued to cry. "I'm so sorry."

Joe paced for a while during the wait, Shocks managing to keep balanced the whole time after getting used to his movements. Eventually he took a seat at the end of the bed, letting the kitten move around until it got comfy. Not much was said except to acknowledge the General and doctor when they gave their news and left. Soon after Andreya woke up and began apologising again Joe struggled to work out what to say.
"Hey, no need for any of that, it was a tough situation and you didn't expect any of this to happen. All we want right now is for you to take it easy so you can feel better faster. By the way, I bought...."
He searched around his seat trying to find Shocks, suddenly feeling something pawing at the back of his head, a second later the kitten had pulled its way up using his hair and started trying to pad it about, laying down once it got comfy.
"Umm.....Sorry for messing up the conversation flow."

Thorton reached out and grabbed Andreya’s hand, squeezing it reassuringly. He leaned foreword, resting his chest against the railing on the bed. He smiled at her, something that very few people ever saw him do, and spoke.
“You think I’d have stayed in bed either way?” He said. In the time since they’d met, there hadn’t been a day he didn’t do something or other. To sit around and do nothing wasn’t an option for him. Sometimes, when things were really slow, he’d go out and buy a model to put together. It didn’t matter what it was, he just had to do something.
“You’ll be ok to go home soon.” He said. He knew that’s what she wanted more than anything, what he wanted more than anything. Go home, live in peace. While it lasted…

The doctor returned after a bit with a plastic bag and clip board in hand. He handed Andreya the clip board and turned to remove her IV's. "I'm sure you know what that's about. So I wont bore you with the detailes of your release," he said with a slight smile. He removed the last of her IV's before taking the clipboard from her and handing her the plastic bag. "In there is a month supply of your medication and the instructions. I've upped the dosage for a bit. Maybe about three months worth. I'll have your family doctor contact you with a check up date, and from there it will be decided if we can lower you back down to your regular dosage. Also your going to be running a feaver and have flu like symptoms for a bit till your body gets back onto it's normal track of things," he explained. "Also the General has secured your relase as well Mr Johnson and Joe," he said looking at the two of them. "So please try to stay out of the hospital," he said and with a wave disappeared threw the doors.
Andreya climbed out of the bed, and staggered a bit before catching herself on it. She still felt weak, and really tired. She realized that this was just going to be another annoying task till she was better. She looked at Thorton with a weak smile. "Can we go home now?" she asked lightly.
"Home would be good," the General spoke up as he stepped through the doors. "I would be taking you three there but somethings come up on my end." He tossed Joe the keys to a vehicle. "There's a small hummer standing by in the parking garage. Not hard to miss. I beilieve that you would probably be the best man to drive it for the time being. Weather you have a licence or not. Take care of those two," he nodded to Andreya and Thorton. "Take care of yourself, and I'll come by and check on you later." With that he walked out of the room.
