Thorton smirked as he hauled himself out of the chair and into the house. He loved days like this. Everything was fine. Normal. Good even. A day at the beach. Something a normal family did to have fun. It had been too long, the last time they’d done something like this.
He went to his room and changed clothes, a pair of cargo shorts and a brown t shirt, a buttoned Hawaiian patterned shirt over it. He slipped his wallet into a pocket, car keys into another. He slipped on a pair of sandals and opened his nightstand drawer. He picked up the pistol and its holster, clipping it to the back of his waistband. A habit that he refused to break, no matter what.
He walked out of the room just as Andreya finished getting everything ready. He smiled as he watched her closing up a small cooler of food, offering to carry it for her as they went out to the car. She took it back as he stopped to lock up the apartment, and they were off to the beach a minute later.
(Andreya, Joe, and Thorton are at Kahe Point/Electric Beach)

(Joe, Thornton and Andreya enter from NADAS base. ooc: rp died there, want to bring my character back to use)
A small tugboat pulled up at the dock having radioed ahead for permission and been given a small escort. The crew were a small team of salvagers and environmentalists who dove into wrecks during the outbreak to make sure viral mutations that may have been onboard weren't a danger to the sealife. Also they recovered scrap and useful items to trade with local governments and military who could then use it against land based outbreaks. Melting the metals down to make bullets for instance or safetly disposing of recovered chemicals.
The captain, a laid back 60 year old hippie in suprising good shape thanks to his sealife and despite his occasional excesses for homebrewed alchohol gave a quick shake to a bell to signal his crew and passengers. Joe rolled out from under a tarp whilst the formerly sleeping crew came out of the shared barracks that Thornton and Andreya had been invited to use. The three had been found a few days earlier after a bad storm in a small liferaft, the salvagers had helped them on whilst they checked the ship and offered them a lift back to the base at first opportunity, minus a small detour to a small gathering of other ships and a party at a nearby island.
"Thanks for the lift again Snowbear, and for that interesting drink, never seen that many colours." Joe rubbed his eyes trying to fully awaken.
"No biggie Sunny Joe." The old hipped rattled Joes sun medallion again. "and thank YOU for the herbal broth recipe, blue plus green plus green plus boil, crew love that almost as much as they love my spicy spinnach casserole."
The crew overhearing tried to hold back any comments about their captains cooking habits. Joe's cooking may have looked similar but at least it tasted good.
"Olive Drab and Little Princess still sleeping?" Snowbear had made up a lot of nicknames in the past few days, no ill will towards anyone though, he just liked nicknames. He rang the bell again and yelled towards the quaters. "Wakee wakee back at pearl harbour base....ee?"

“Olive Drab is awake.” Thorton’s voice said, coming from behind the two men. He had awoken some time ago, having stayed in the bed and relaxed, watching Andreya sleep with a peace that he hadn’t seen in her for some time. He had gotten up to have a cigarette, one of a pack that he had been so graciously given by one of the crewmen, just as he heard Joe and the captain speaking. He had been able to walk quietly because of the reconstruction NADAS had done on his knee. He no longer needed the brace to walk, and his eerily quiet footsteps were quick to come back to him.
He took a puff from the cigarette and flicked the ash into a used paper cup, soon finishing and flicking the entire thing inside.
He saw the military craft that was serving as an escort to the civilian vessel, saw the men on it watching them with a caution that was used everywhere in Hawaii. Without that caution, the area probably would have succumbed to infection some time ago.
“Thank you again for everything, Captain.” Thorton said. He hadn’t caught the man’s real name, and he wasn’t too big on calling him Snowbear. Just sounded… Awkward.

Andreya covered her head as she heard the bell ring. She was enjoying her sleep, and wanted it to last longer. Sadly though she found that sleep wouldn't come back to her. She sighed a bit as she sat up in bed. A nice dream for once, and she couldn't finish it. Though soon it wouldn't matter. Reality would set in, and they would be back home. Shocks would probably be missing her, but she knew the General would have taken good care of her. He always seemed to have a way with animals. Over the past couple of days she had thought about going back to school. Though know it was for a different reason. NADAS had a lot of different technology, and a lot that could help the world, but she also understood why they kept it a secret.
If people ever got their hands on that kind of tech. it could be used for all the wrong reasons, and in a world like today they didn't need anything else to sneak up. Though with books, and items graciously given to her by the scientist of NADAS. She had finally come to a conclusion. She was going to study BOWs in hopes that she could fine a way to stop them. There wasn't a class for that, but with the books she obtained she hoped that she could learn what she needed to do. Though sadly that would also require returning back to the hell that they wanted to avoid.
Climbing out of bed she made her way to the door. That would be a topic she would talk with Thorton about later. Making her way to the deck she found the military escort, and not that far away Pearl Harbor base. Home was only a couple hours away, and it was already starting to drive her crazy. She watched as the military vessels pulled away, and the small boat they were on pulled up to the docks. Andreya walked up to Joe and Thorton. "Home sweet home," she said lightly as she looked up to them. "Shocks will be my first agenda after we get cleared to go home."
