Devin felt arms wrap around him. Slowly his hands began to slow down, and began to stop all together. Calming down, he began to go limp, and just fell completely to his knees, tears streaming down his face once more. he didn't know what to do. Alex has changed, she hadn't noticed it. She had married someone, sadly and it hurt Devin so much. She had no clue what kind of ticking bomb she had set inside him. Saddened he moved away from her, pushing her off of him as he did. Looking at his hands, blood of the creature was spewed all over it. Going back to the bathroom agn he washed it off and walked back to the main room.
"Alex..." Sighing heavily he looked at his feet. "... I dunno what to do. I don't know if I can love you anymore. You moved on... Alex. You moved on, left me. Thought I was dead, didn't even search for me... Sadly, I don't want to remember you anymore..." What he said even hurt him. Looking off to the entrance of the store, he sighed again. This meeting was all a heartache, and he couldn't handle fighting another licker. He would have to leave soon, with her or without.

Alex looked up at Devin with wide eyes as he spoke. Once more she felt her heart shatter as it had so many times in the past. She sat on the ground her fist balling up since there was nothing there for her to grab. Tear streaming down her face as she looked at him. This was all her fault and just like Jimmy and her son had suffered so was Devin, but in the end it all came down to her. Alex closed her eyes as it had brought on a new wave of tears. She crawled to her knees and then to her feet as she backed away from him just slightly. Opening her eyes as she felt her body tremble. She was cold and she didn't under stand why. She just stared at him, her lip quivering as she fought back her cries, but failed miserably with her tears. "I . . . I . . ." her words were lost in her mind. All she could do was stand there looking at him.
Her hands shook as her body did. She was fighting running, but with the pain her heart felt she felt like giving in. Finally she did. "I . . . I'm . . . I'm so . . . I'm sorry for loving you," she cried before she took off out of the store. She cried loud, and she cried hard. She didn't care who she attacked, and she didn't care about anything anymore. Everyone she loved hated her in the end, and everyone she loved always blamed her in the end. It was all her fault. If she had never met anyone no one would have suffered, or even had to lie to her. Alex tripped on her feet and hit the cold tile floor hard, but she didn't care. She just continued to lay there on the ground, and soon enough she wrapped her arms around her knees and pulled them up to her chest. Still she didn't stop crying, she just wanted to cry for the rest of her life.

Devin watched her as she ran by him. Knowing what he said wasn't what he meant to say. He loved her, he loved her with everything he had. Moving behind her he followed her, as soon as she fell he slid down beside her. Moving his arm underneath her he picked her up. "Alex. I love you, I'm just confused. Please don't leave. I didn't mean what I said..." Moving his hand down her arm, he looked down at her. He was so stupid for saying what he did. He shouldn't have. He know hated himself for it, as he had ruined everything thus far. "I don't blame you Alex. It wasn't your fault, I shouldn't of said that... I understand that you don't want to love me..." Staring at the tile beside her he sighed heavily and still continued to rub her arm.

Alex continued to cry as she wrapped her arms around him. She buried her face into his chest as she felt the tears still continue to fall. "I love you . . ." she cried out as she gripped his shirt tightly. Her tears continued to soak his shirt as she continued to cry. "H- how ma- many times do I have to say it . . . h- how many times to I have to say I love you b- before you realize it?" she asked as she continued to cry. Alex's crying nearly turned into a painful scream as her hands went from gripping him to gripping her sides. She cried out as she nearly curled up into a ball holding her sides tightly. She hated it and she hated herself. Even after being in Umbrella's control she had come out worse off than she had before she went in. Two years in their stasis chamber would do that to a person, but also all the test they had preformed in the process.
She had ended up coming out sickly when Jonathan and his men finally rescued her from their grasp. Though the damage was already done. Alex continued to cry as even blood dripped from the corner of her mouth. The virus in her body had never been the same since then, and in the end it was very slowly and very painfully killing her. Though with what Johnathan had been doing it had been buying her time. Still though she had come here without the shots, and it would only mean she would have to endure the pain until it passed. Alex continued to cry out until she had finally passed out in his arms.

The unfortunate events unfold before him. Quickly wrapping his arms around her, he continued to shout her name as she held herself in pain. Quickly lifting her up, he carried her out of the floor and into a moving table. The table was sliding on all fours, and Devin was able to push her back to the stairs. Quickly he pulled her head close to him and grabbed underneath her legs. Moving swiftly he found a new store and placed her on the carpeted floor. Moving swiftly he locked down everything and silently picked her back up. Moving to behind the counter he sat down with her still in his arms.
Laying her head on his lap he put his head on the wall behind him and watched for any movement from the store. Stroking her hair gently he began to hum a song that used to calm him when he was younger. He didn't quite know the words, or the name. But for the one line "Hush little baby don't say a word"

Alex shifted painfully in her sleep, but slowly the sound of a gentle hum made it into her head. Her shifting slowed down, but the pain was evident. It wasn't much longer till she started waking up. Her eyes slowly opening up, and she laid there trying to figure out everything. An then she felt his hand running threw her hair gently. She smiled lightly as she closed her eyes, relaxing gently as she did, and the pain still slowly subsiding. "I- I missed this," she spoke in a whisper. "I- I don't know why I wanted to go to Raccoon again," she spoke heavily. She rolled to her side, but left her head on his lap. She nuzzled her head a bit. "I w- wonder if it was to go back to where it all started . . . maybe . . . maybe hope . . . m- maybe . . . maybe self demise." She shivered lightly under his touch, but smiled lightly. "I come to realize I don't belong in the human world," she whispered. Finally opening her eyes to look across the store.

Devin lowered his head and frowned accordingly. Pushing her hair back from her eyes he moved her chin so she would have to look up at him. Sighing lightly he allowed himself to lean in over her. Slowly, he pushed his lips unto her forehead, and kissed her sweetly. "Are you okay Alex...? Worried me for a bit." Slowly he slid his hand down her arm, making sure to remember this moment. Nice and slowly his hands felt her arm. She was smooth, and it felt nice to touch her. Just as soon as his hand felt hers, he gently grasped her hand and put his fingers into hers.
Still looking down, he sighed to her again. Then, out of nowhere chuckled slightly. Looking down to her once more, he spoke aloud. "I remember a cute little line I've heard before." Smiling down to her, he turned his head slightly checking the store, it was still quiet and no movement, luckily they had the store to their selves for awhile at least. "You know why there's those spaces in between your fingers?" Laughing again, he rubbed her hand with his thumb as they were still laced. "So mine can fit perfectly in between yours..." blushing slightly, he chuckled again. It was kinda corny now that he said it. "Sorry that it sounds non-romantic coming from me..."

Alex smiled as she looked down at their hands. Her grip tightning around his. She closed her eyes as she relaxed in his lap. "I like that line," she said lightly before looking up at him. She closed her eyes, and once more drifted to sleep in his arms. During her sleep her body shifted painfully, but toward the end it seemed to ease up as did the tension in her body. Alex slowly opened her eyes again, before pushing herself up to sit in front of Devin. She smiled lightly before leaning forward to hug him. "I just want to hold you. It's been so long since I've had someone with their arms around me. It's been so long since I've had someone who cared about me," she spoke lightly as she rested her head on his shoulder. "I want to follow you . . . I want to stay by your side, even if it means I have to die by your side as well. I don't want to lose you . . . or leave you ever again," she spoke with a chock in her voice.

Smiling sweetly as she wrapped her arms around her, he pulled his arms around her as she did hers. Pulling her in closer he gently ran his hand through her hair. Ohh how he missed this in his time of being gone. He knew how it felt to touch a woman, but he never remembered doing it. Sadly, Alex was the first love he has ever had. It was nice for someone to love you, it made him feel needed, secure, safe. He pulled her up to look at him once more, moving his hand to her face he gently moved hair from her face. Her face was so beautiful, young, beautiful, soft. He couldn't hold it in much longer. He needed to feel her lips against his.
Moving his head in slightly, he kissed her lips with a gentle touch. Then if she progressed he would push himself in more passionately, opening his own mouth slightly, if maybe she'd like to play around a little more.

Alex rolled her head slightly pushing deeper into the kiss. Her hand drifting up to the back of his head. How she missed this, and how she missed him. Her heart never fluttered or sang like it did when she was around him. When she had married Jimmy she had some how felt like she had lost something. She closed her eyes as she enjoyed the feeling that she got when she was around him. Though she was the one who had to finally break the kiss. Pulling back slightly as she looked at him with a tender smile. "That other Alex and myself are the same, just she's what I could never be. She's stronger and more mentally capable of handling things. I . . . I would have just sat down and died a long time ago if it wasn't for her. She may not show it, but she feels for you the same way I do," Alex smiled again before sitting back on her knees. Her hand tracing his chin ling before stopping. "I'm sorry, but we need to find the car I came in this town with. It has medication I need. If I don't take it my body will get sick, and I will die," she said as she looked down at the ground. "One of the failures from when Umbrella had me," she explained. "I don't know where it is. When I had gotten out to find some food someone stole it and took off. Probably wouldn't have gotten to far . . . I'm hoping."

Listening to her speak he gently began to rise up, helping her up with him. Smiling some, he stretched and moved his legs a bit so he could get the blood running back to them. Moving his hand to her back, he gently brought her in for a soft hug once more. Sighing lightly he began to speak. "You had no clue how much I would have missed you, I still sort of did, but I didn't know what was missing from my life." Listening to the end of her sentence he gently nodded and allowed her to move away from the hug. Placing one hand in his pocket, and another inside a pouch on hid right side he emptied his pistol's clip and put in another.
"We should get going now if we're gonna get that car. It might not have gone far but we can't be sure. If it hits night this s*** will get even worse to travel in. We'd might have to spend the night here determining the time it is now."

Alex nodded as she looked at Devin she smiled lightly as she quickly followed him out of the store. "I can show you the general area as to where the car was when it was stolen. Maybe if we started there we could figure out which way it went," she commented as they moved down the hall. It was quite odd that at one moment the mall was festering with undead and monsters alike, and now it was completely barren. Shaking the thought she followed him down the stairs and out the front of the mall. Alex looked around oddly trying her best to remember where she ran from. "That way," she pointed down a street. "The 7 Eleven . . . I think it was called," she said as they continued to move down the street. The sun already showing it was well past noon. If she had her watch on it would probably say it would be like three or four. That meant they didn't have much searching time a head of them, and that it would probably be sometime tomorrow before they even attempted to leave this place.

[Rich, Anna and Co. have arrived at the Mall Thead]
As the group neared the Opal Valley Mall, Anna had taken note of the many undead they'd drove passed and over on the way there. The B.S.A.A. had done a good job dividing the clean side of Stoneville from the ghoulified doppleganger. There'd been a nice conversation on the way that dealt with Jake and Chase arguing over directions.
"I told you to bring a f*ckin' map, but no, f*ck Chase, he's just some old, experienced, Lieutenant of the goddamn B.S.A.A."
Then came the reply from Jake.
"I was a Marine. Marine's don't need maps. We work on our ferral instincts."
Then Chase again.
"I was a f*ckin' Green Beret!"
Then Jake.
"Damn, Lieutenant, you're f*ckin' old."
"There's the mall," Anna spoke up, pointing at the sign on the side of the road. "Now both of you can it."
Jake and Chase both sunk in their seats, grumbling further.
The agent smirked and sat back in her seat, feeling mighty accomplished at the moment. She was currently sitting inbetween the new girl and Richard, her rifle between her legs as they'd driven on. The rest of the drive had been silent for a good, solid, five minutes.
"So, Rich, what're we gonna do first when we get there? Oh! I know! I wanna hit the arcades!" Anna said, bouncing in her seat, giddily.
"I wanna crack open a vending machine, get something to get this stale coffee cake taste out of my mouth, ack" Richard said coughing.
Anna patted his back and smiled. "Dream big, Rich."
Jake grinned and rubbed at his chin in thought. "I'm gonna hit the men's department. I need boxers. Been goin' commando way too long,"
"That is disgusting. It's only been a year since the world ended, it's not too late for underpants man!" Richard commented while Anna sat beside him, laughing pretty hard.
Jake passively waved his hand. "A man needs his freedom, sometimes, Rich. Sometimes they need to breath a little. I figured the end of the world was the right time."
"Anna, you got no input on this?" Chase asked, switching glances between the road and the rearview mirror to see Anna's smiling face.
"No. None. I can't think of a single witty thing to say about Jake's jewels. I'm sorry, I let you down," she responded, hanging her head in mock shame.
"Yeah, you did," Chase said, pulling over onto the side of the road. "Get out," he joked, pointing outside and unlocking her door.
"Jake is riding in your new Hummer with his bare ass and you're telling me to get out?"
Chase squinted at Jake. "You're right. Jake. Get out."
Richard looked out the side and back windows to see some snarling brain eaters wandering over to their car. "Uh guys, maybe we can talk to Dr. Phil or something when we're not surrounded by the living dead, ya think?"
"Rich! Don't f*ckin' make me go back there, man!" Jake yelled.
"Please don't make him come back here without underwear, Rich. His ass will be in my face not yours.... Jake when's the last time you had a bath?!" Anna yelled.
Jake grinned.
((Ion, post next to introduce the mall.))

After the former military had finished squabbling about underwear and the like, the group finally made it in front of the mall. Old military vehicles and undead soldiers kept watch over the sealed and secured shopping complex.
"Damn! I forgot, the last time we sent a scavenge party here, they said that the mall's shut up tighter than a nun's v*g. How the hell are we gonna get in?" Richard moaned.
Jake and Chase errupted with laughter, whereas Anna grimaced and glared at Richard, nudging him in the rib. "What is it with you and genitalia? First the RPD smells like 'scrotum' now the mall's----nnnyeh."
"My parents weren't good role models. Now come on, I think I have an idea, but first, out out out," Richard said, gesturing Anna out of the humvee. Once outside, Richard approached the driver's side window.
"Alright Chase, ya know the firehouse we passed on the way here? You and Jake go there and see if you can't find a firetruck or something, alright? We'll take a walkie talkie and stay here and try to find another way in, else we're taking an escape ladder to the roof. Alright?"
"Sounds like a plan. We'll take Lucy with us, she can grab some first aid, whatever she thinks we'll need incase we can't find any inside," Chase responded. "You two be careful... there's alot of them undead bastards in this parking lot."
After Lucy got into the truck Richard responded "We'll try, now get moving, faster you get there, faster you get back." Once he moved away from the window, the humvee roared up and drove off, clipping a zombie as it left the parking lot.
Richard turned to Anna, and then noticed the increasing mass of rotting flesh that had begun to encircle them. "Well sh*t, come on Anna, we'd better find an entrance before they take our hide." More comfortable with light arms, Rich pulled out his .45 and popped the skull of a zombie before running out of their trap. He turned and raised his gun to give Anna assistance on her way out.

Anna growled and clenched her teeth, jogging through the crowd, carefully manuevering around some of the slower ones. A couple of bullets whizzed passed her, taking out some of the undead and knocking others back that tried reaching at her, buying her time to get by.
"I f*cking forgot my ammo pack in the cell!" the agent yelled, frustrated as she'd managed to break through the shambling ghouls and make it to Richard's side.
"We'll get you more ammo inside, take this for now," Richard said, handing her his rifle rounds and the rifle off his back.
Anna took the rounds and placed them in her hip pack, then grabbed the hunting rifle firmly in both hands. "Much appreciated, let's get running," she told him, moving on ahead and leaving the shuffling crowd behind.
In the parking lot, the agent noted four abandoned military vehicles parked sloppily around the lot. Some of them had all four doors wide open and blood splattered in the interior. Scattered among them were ghoulified Army grunts milling about.
"Damn..."
"Guess they caught the runoff from Raccoon. Once that place was out of food, the dead had to find it somewhere," Richard commented. While moving past it, Richard took a short detour. He walked over to one of the bodies on the ground, crushed it's head with his boot, and patted it down for ammo. On his way back to Anna he told her, "Scavengers got their gear, probably couldn't touch anything in the mall though."
Anna nodded and glanced sideways at the approaching zombies. "C'mon, we should keep moving." she told him, gripping the weapon tighter. She hadn't felt this terrified in awhile. Sure she'd dealt with some crazy sh*t from Tricell but they were all human. She hadn't really dealt with zombies... this many zombies, in so long. She shivered and rolled her shoulder back a bit, cocking her head as they walked on.
Moving along to the side of the three story building, they'd spotted some dumpsters and two roaming ghouls up ahead. "No ladder, here."
Richard started jogging to the rear of the building, giving the zombies a wide berth. "Lets check the loading areas, maybe someone left a key somewhere."
The redhead nodded at him again. "Hope Chase and the others found something."
