Upon rounding the building, Richard and Anna saw the loading docks, shutters locked down and two loading trucks parked in front of them.
"Well there goes that idea. If we shoot a door open it'll just be barricaded with zombies when we try to leave," Richard said, dejected. "Guess we're gonna have to play tag with these f*ckers 'til Jake and Chase come back," he said waving his .45 at the shamblers.
Anna groaned a bit, arching her neck back, frustrated. Upon opening her eyes, she'd taken notice of a broken ladder leading upto the roof top above one of the trucks. She'd arched a brow and glanced back at Rich who was keeping an eye on the ghouls ways away from them.
"Huh, there's a ladder up there. If we climb the truck, we can prolly reach it," she explained.
Rich looked up at it, "Yeah, if we hotwire a sedan and park it in front of it, it should make an easy ramp for us. One the deaders shouldn't be able to climb."
He looked around and saw a suitable car across the street behind the mall. "C'mon, I don't wanna go all the way back to the front parking lot," Richard said running across the street. Anna happily complied and followed suit with the rifle slung over her shoulder.
Once at the car, Richard checked for an alarm light, checked the back seat for any unwanted guests and got ready to break open a window. Before smashing some glass though, he checked the door handle.
"Hey, it's unlocked," Rich said crouching down next to the car. Before he could get started on any kind of illegal activity, a siren caught his ear in the distance.
"I guess that's them right?" Richard got up and started walking back to the front of the mall with Anna, any mingling zombies too interested in the startling siren to pay them any mind.
In mere minutes, the front parking lot was a festival of bloodshed and morbid merryment. The siren blazing as Jake did donuts, splattering the undead every which way.
"YEEEE-HAAAAWWW!" Jake cheered, sticking his elbow, shoulder and partial head out of the window of his door with a cheeky grin.
Before long, a mass majority of the undead were now piles of mince meat.
"Leave it to f*ckin' Jake..." Anna trailed off, chuckling and shaking her head.
Once the festivities were over, Jake pulled the truck up to the front of the building. Richard and Anna made their way over, careful not to trip or slip on any excess remains. After climbing up the back, Richard yelled down, "You guys know how to work this thing?"
After some guesswork, they managed to get the ladder up and extended. Not the best work, but the best they could muster. Soon the group of them had made it to the roof of the mall.
"Say, how come you guys didn't radio in that you found the truck?" Richard asked, gazing out at the decimated zombie horde.
Chase sighed, obviously irritated as he responded, "Jake only brought two radios as opposed to the four I mentioned prior. The dumbass sod..." the older man grumbled.
Jake had been pulling up the duffle bag he'd brought with them after helping Lucy up the ladder. "Sorry 'bout that," he replied to the Lieutenant, dryly.
"Anyway, we had to go back to the Police Department and get a few more," Chase told them, gesturing to the duffle bag.
"Alright, well as long as we don't have to go scouring the mall for anything else," Richard mentioned cooly. This soujourn was risky enough as it was.

Anna nodded. "Agreed."
Jake crouched down, placing the bag carefully on the cement and unzipping it. "By the way, Anna, your dad sent you this," he began, tossing her a belt holster with a couple of pouches attatched. Holstered in it was his Colt.
Anna's eyes widened but before she could utter a single word, Jake passed her another weapon, a larger one at that.
"And this. Ammo for both are in those pouches. He said not to worry about it," he finished, giving her the Desert Eagle. The agent had clipped the belt around her waist, hanging it over her leather belt before grasping at the Magnum. She'd eyed it and waved it around with both hands before taking a practice aim with it and then holstering in her other shoulder holster.
"Man, wish my dad woulda left me badass weapons like that..." Jake groaned.
Anna smiled warily before walking forward and stopping mid-step. Her calm demeanor had immediately twisted into distress while she stammered with her words.
"What the hell did this?" she asked, moving closer to it to try and peer inside.
"What the hell is what-oh that," Richard corrected himself, seeing the massive hole in the concrete roof.
Anna narrowed her eyes and upon further inspection, she'd taken note of three more just like them not too far away from one another. "That's no coincidence," she said lowly, more to herself than aloud. She then grasped onto Richard's arm, pushing them both back from it.
"Careful, the roof is still crumbling from the damage. Don't want ya to fall through," she told him, smiling half-heartedly.
"What's the matter? You seem more than a little worried about some hole," he asked her, wondering what had her so spooked. Anna rubbed the back of her neck and frowned, glancing back at Jake and Chase who both seemed to have adopted the same look of worry. She then placed both hands on Rich's shoulders, giving him a gentle, reassuring squeeze.
"Richard... maybe we should just call this off. It's safer to just go back to the station with Aryn. I'll think of another way to get you into HQ without this hassle," she told him, sadly.
"Hey, there's some windows over here, looks like they lead into a maintenance room or something," Jake interjected, shining his flash light inside of a massive bay window. Chase wandered over with Lucy in tow to give Anna and Richard some time to sort out what to do.
"We're already here, and I'm sure it won't be that hard getting what we need," Richard told her, putting his arms on her shoulders as well. "There's nothing down there we can't handle."
The agent shook her head. "No. It's too dangerous. Dammit, don't be so damn stabborn. Listen to me!"
Richard backed away a little. "What is it, what's so damn dangerous?"
Sighing and brushing her bangs out of her face, the agent looked over at the nearby hole. "I've seen this before. So has Chase and so has Jake. If my guess is right, then there are giant, f*cking, monsters stalking around inside of that mall. They're relentless and there's no way in hell I'm letting you go in there just to get some stupid ring or dress or... whatever we had to get to get married. It's not worth you or me or them, dying over. Mainly you..."
Richard smiled a little. "I didn't know you cared, but wouldn't we hear any of them if they were in there?" he mentioned. Moving away from her and peering down into through the hole, he continued. "I don't see any stalking monstrosities, just some undead soldiers, a giant metal pod, and..." he paused a bit.
Anna flinched and grabbed ahold of his arm, pulling him away again. "...'And' what? Also, stop tempting fate!"
Richard pulled his arm away a little. "Aaaand... a dead... thing, surrounded by dead soldiers. Go, look for yourself."
She quirked a brow and wandered back over, shining a light inside. Upon further inspection, she'd sighed with relief, reeling her head back. "Oh thank God for that..." she said before turning to face him.
"It's a Tyrant body. That's what I was afraid was stalking the mall. Looks like there are two more more dead ones too... musta been what took out the soldiers."
From behind the two, there was a loud crash and then Jake's voice in unison of the crash. "Doin' it!"
Anna looked over to see the two men kicking out shards of remaining glass and then Chase unhooking a rope from his belt. Immiediately afterward, she'd looked back at Richard and smiled meekly. "Sorry about that. Just didn't want to take any chances."
"Shouldn't we find a more, permanent, entrance and exit?" Richard asked, wandering over.
"It's a Maintenance Room, I'm pretty sure there'll be a ladder in there or something," she responded
Chase tied the rope tightly around one of the massive devices on the roof, tugging on it and then dropping the other end down into the room. "So who's first?" he asked.
"I'll go," Anna quickly volunteered before jogging on over and peeking down. She'd grasped ahold of the rope, firmly before descending into the room below.

After Anna dropped down, Richard followed afterwards. The others came down soon after, with Rich and Anna pulling a ladder out of a closet and up against the wall.
"That'll work," Rich said, locking the ladder into place. Once that was done, the group made its way outside onto the third floor balcony. The dark, dusty mall, once teeming with life, now populated only by the undead. Former guards forever watching their posts in a cruel fascimile of life.
Suddenly, all the lights in the place turned on. A light jingle began playing through the complex, and escalators hummed to life throughout the building.
"Must be set on a timer. B.S.A.A. brought the power back on to Stoneville when we set up base here," Chase mentioned, clearing up anyone's confusion.
Anna groaned. "Soundtrack dissonance, much?" she joked with a wry grin.
Rich quirked an eyebrow at the whole thing, putting his hands on the railing. "Didn't something like this happen in Dawn of the Dead?"
"No, no, someone actually turned the lights on... still, this is eerily similar. It's just like the movie only really happening. Maybe. Oh God, we're leaning on the fourth wall!" she responded with a short giggle.
"Eh, never liked that wall much myself," Richard said with a laugh. "Well, we got some shopping to do. I've got a tux to rent out, a camera to buy, and some jellybeans to pick up. So lets say we find us a map?"
"Covered, Rich. I've been plannin' a trip to this mall for months now, got this out of a stack of old newspapers," Chase responded, waving the old fold out around.

Anna snatched the map out of the Lieutenant's hands and unfolded it. Ignoring his protests, she'd held out infront of her, scanning it for the shops.
" I need my dress, the rings and maybe hit a hunting shop. Oooh! A JC Penney's!" she called out, ecstatic. "Oh my God, they have a Macy's, too!" she added, unleashing her hidden femininity.
"This place has a hunting store? I can pick up a .32 for Aryn! She'll be so thrilled: a mommy and a gun in one day," Rich said, tugging at the map, himself.
"Reminds me of, "My Big, Fat, Redneck Wedding," Jake told, Chase, chuckling.
Anna punched Jake in the arm semi-hard, squinting at him. "Shut up, Jake, don't ruin this."
Looking around the mall, she'd spotted the nearest store which was a Claire's accessories. She'd found it on the map and put her hand out to Chase. "You have a pen on ya?" she asked. The Lieutenant, plucked one from behind his ear and handed it to her. From there, she'd marked the map of where they stood the traced the route along the map.
Looking forward, across the catwalk, she'd smiled. "There's Zodiac Jewelry, we can get the rings from there," she said, looking over at Richard.
"Alriiiiight, lets get something expensive," Richard said making his way across the catwalk. "We'll call you guys if anything comes up alright?" he called back to the other three.
Chase glared. "That was my map, you little punks."
Jake grabbed onto Lucy's arm. "C'mon, kid, let's go find food and a new map while the Lieutenant b*tches," he told the young woman. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crossing the catwalk, Anna looked down over the railing to see a few stray undead roaming aimlessly. There were about two or three on this floor but way on the otherside of where they stood, they could take care of them easily. As the two entered the shop, Anna's eyes practically glinted with glee at all the sparkling jewelry that were still very much in tact.
"Shiny, shiny, shiny, shiny shiny shiny shiny..." she murmurred, hopping over the counter and sliding open the men's rings. "Pick one, Rich. Any one will do. It's on me."
"Why how generous of you," Rich said, picking up different rings. "Too girly, too thick, too fancy..." he murmured, tossing them over his shoulder as he went. "What do you think of this one?" he asked, holding up a gold band with a ring of platinum in the middle.
Anna tilted her head, examining it before smiling. "I think it's perfect," she responded ripping the price tag off of it and grinning. "And it's worth seventeen grand, nothing's too expensive for my honey," she teased.
Rich put it on for now and started scanning the cases for a nice engagement ring. "You want something with diamonds? Lots of diamonds? Something that says, 'Money means nothing to me.' What do you think?"
"Diamonds are so overrated, now a days. One will do, like this one!" she said, pointing at a silver band with floral engravement around it. There was a medium sized gem embedded atop of it that shined underneath the light. This one's nice, eh?" she asked.
"It's a bit pricey, but money is no object when it comes to you," Rich said, pinching her cheek. "I'll take it," said as he ripped off the tag. "Eight K, and at a hundred percent discount, it's a steal!"
Anna rubbed at her cheek and laughed. "Why, darling! You shouldn't have! But I'm glad you did... oh hey! There's a wedding band here that looks like yours, cept it's inverted. Platinum with gold in the center and womanly. Takin' it. It's mine."
"A matching set, and to think, none of this would have been possible if the world hadn't gone and spent itself."
The woman felt her cheeks flush a bit while she tried the band on over the engagement ring. It fit like a glove, fortunately. "Yeah, but really, who woulda thought it'd turn out like this? I mean, I always figured we'd be on and off in the outbreak," she mentioned before slapping her palm into her face. "I didn't mean it like that... I meant, I figured we'd always run into eachother and then get separated alot. Like usual. That was it, heh."
Rich grabbed a pile of ringboxes and tossed them aroung a bit. "Well it wasn't easy finding or sticking with each other. I mean there was that monster attack in Raccoon, raiders on the road, B.S.A.A. kept calling you away, and when you got back we almost got separated again by that Super Human attack."
Anna lowered her head a bit as she'd wandered on over to the necklaces, some of them made especially for children. She'd figured she'd grab one for Aryn, since Rich was already getting her a .32. She got her first real piece of jewelry about that age.
"I wasn't gonna let that bastard separate me from you. I f*ckin' went through goddamn hell trying to get back to you in the first place. I wasn't gonna let that sonuva b*tch get in my way," she informed him, picking one of the pieces of jewelry up.
"What's that for?" Rich asked, making his way over to her.
Anna smiled and showed him the delicate trinket. It was 14 karot gold with a little heart pendant embedded with opal.
"It's for Aryn. I didn't want to leave without getting her something real nice. I got this necklace from my mom when I was nine, for my birthday, but eh, she deserves something nice. She was always asking to borrow mine... I figured I'd get her one of her own."
"Well that's sweet of you, wish I'd thought of it," Rich said, scratching his head sheepishly.
Anna smiled at him and placed the trinket in a box, tucking it away in her pocket where'd she'd felt a hard lump. Quirking her brow, she'd fished it out as she spoke to Richard.
"You're getting her a .32, she's gonna be psyched to get that too, ya know." Pulling the device from her inner jacket pocket, she'd laughed. "I completely forgot about this. It's a grapple gun."
Richard shook his head. "I f*cking swear to God..."
She smiled sheepishly and laughed. "Hehehe.... I'm sorry, Richard. I was so stressed, I guess it slipped my mind."
"Well lets hope nothing else slips your mind, alright?" Rich said, smiling at her.
"Right. So, let's see, we've got the rings and now we need the camera, the clothes, Dr. Pepper jellybeans and a gun store, there's a candy store on this floor so we can go after Aryn's candy before we get to the lower level for the department stores."
"Alright, lets go then," Anna's hubby to be said as he made his way out the door.

[OOC – YAY! I’m back. I’ll sum up my actions and then get caught up.]
== At the Mall ==
Lucy was caught up in the group and only had enough time to check her revolver before being hustled along with the group. The military vehicles were ready and waiting for them and she climbed into the backseat with the redheaded woman and another man. In the front were two other guys. Halfway through the trip, she was able to get their names right… maybe.
Anna was the redhead who kept looking at her like she was a ghost. It got even worse when she said her name was Anna. Richard was next to her and they were getting married… or something close to that. Chase and Jake were in the front and they way they all bickered made her feel at home… a very dysfunctional and occasionally violent laden humorous family.
The only other thing that caught her eyes were the undead… a lot of undead. At first it didn’t seem to bother the others. They either gave them passing glances and ignored them while they made their way to the mall.
To Lucy, the undead were still frightening, but she guessed that if you spent a lot of time around them, then they were normal. Inside, she thought it was crazy to think such things were normal, but she knew the human psyche could be resilient when it needed to be. Crazy was the new normal and normal was the new crazy. Was it crazy that she was even having this conversation and did it make it crazier that she was having it with herself in her mind?
Lucy shook her head and realized that they had come to a stop outside the mall. And yes, the undead were still closing in. She came back to the group long enough to hear their plans. Jake, Chase and Lucy were going back to the firehouse to get a truck. She was going along for the ride and to get medical supplies.
It seemed like a great place to start. If an ambulance had been left behind, then they would have most of the supplies they could possibly carry.
== At the Fire Station ==
As they pulled in, Lucy could see that it might be a hopeless cause. The trucks were there, but they were covered with blood smeared hands and the doors were wide open. Still, they had to be checked. As Chase and Jake got out, Lucy joined them. In one of the few times, she spoke up.
“First, I’ll check the ambulance. If it hasn’t been looted, then they should carry a lot of the supplies that we will need. Then we can check the stockroom”, she pointed over to a door where it was marked “Medical Supplies”. She pulled out her gun and tiptoed around to the back of the ambulance. She didn’t know why she tiptoed, but she did anyway.
The backdoors were open and Lucy saw a body strapped in the back. At first her stomach lurched at the thought of a dead body, but it was worse when she stepped up to look.
It was an undead body. It was strapped to the gurney and when it realized Lucy was there, it began to pulled at the straps and moan and bite at her. Lucy pulled herself around behind it put a blanket over its head. Then she pressed the muzzle of her gun to the top of its head and pulled the trigger. It was muffled a bit and a brownish red spot appeared on the sheet. Lucy sighed and began to load up her backpack with gauze, tape, and every medicine she could get her hands on.
Soon her backpack was stuffed and she had to grab one of the medic’s bags and fill it up. Then she went to the stockroom.
It was scary to open the door, but she pushed it open and stepped back. She was thankful that nothing jumped out at her.
Going along the long wall, she skipped over the blankets and went straight for the medical cabinet. Carefully she pulled all the remaining medicine out of the doors and put them in the bag. She’d look over them back at the police station. She topped it off with a defibulator and a pack of surgical tools. Lastly, she grabbed two CPR devices and quickly made her way back to the HumVee. Then they made their way back to the mall.
When they finally got in, Anna and Richard went off to find a ring and a dress. Jake grabbed onto Lucy's arm.
"C'mon, kid, let's go find food and a new map while the Lieutenant b*tches.”
Lucy nodded and headed off with Jake. She pulled out her gun to check it and then holstered it again. She had dumped out her backpack in the humvee so it was pretty empty. Hopefully they would find food, as she was getting hungry. As she walked along, she recalled something that Clarissa said the day before.
“Say, Jake, do you know Clarissa?”

“Could they be any louder?” Mikey said to himself quietly from the security room. He looked through the wall of cameras, tracking the movements of the group as soon as they had restored the power. Dammit… He’d shut off the power for a reason. The lights and sounds and all that s*** would attract walkers for miles. They seemed to communicate with one another. One moaned, another moaned, another, another, and before you knew it you had a f**king Jethro Tuttle concert worth of the bastards at your front door.
“The hell are they doing?” He asked himself as he followed a pair, a redhead and a guy. They were making some… Interesting shops. Jewelry store? Really? He could understand gathering up some valuables, sure. There were still places who would take the stuff. Personally, he had cracked a few safes with a master list of combinations here in the office and took some cash. But still, something was odd. They didn’t just open a bag and toss it all in, they were looking for something specific.
After quickly cursing both the facts that the security cameras didn’t have an audio feed and that lip reading was not among his skill set, he decided he would go confront them. They could be raiders, one part of him said. But their not acting like raiders, another part said. Siding with the middle ground and checking to see if his shotgun was still loaded, he walked out of the office. Avoiding the line that linked to a set of cans filled with pennies all around the top floor, walking through the sheen of cooking oil on the floor with no trouble thanks to the slip proof covers on his shoes, and past the stairs that were also covered in oil. It wasn’t much, but it would certainly keep any zombies busy for some time.
The trip over to the shop the pair were in was quick, and Mikey did his best to be quiet. He wasn’t the best, but they were not making any attempts to be quiet. If he was lucky, the noise they were making would mask the noise he was making.
Shouldering his weapon and stopping at the wall by the door, he peeked in. Neither were looking his way, for now. He began his sneak into the store when, as if Fate was kicking him in the scrotum, they turned around and began walking out. Mikey froze for a moment, his weapon trained on them. It was a second before he got over the initial ‘oh s***’ moment.
“Your not the quietest sort.” He said in a near whisper, his KSG trained on the ground just a foot or so away from them.

"Well with all feel good music, zombies three doors down, and barricades surrounding the place, we didn't think we'd have any noise complaints," Rich commented. Guy seemed jumpy, especially for a big guy like he was. "I guess considering the security, visitors aren't common, right?" he mentioned, showing that he was understanding of the man's initial hostility.
Anna kept her hand hovering over her hip holster, glaring at the man. She understood the man's actions but she wasn't going to keep her guard down.
"I'm gonna save us all trouble and just let you know I'm a Spec Ops Agent of the B.S.A.A. I'm sure you understand that there are two other B.S.A.A. Agents here as well, we don't mean any harm," she told him.

Anna waited a moment before adding, "And we didn't turn on the electricity if that's what you're thinking. It must be automatically set to turn on on when the mall opens. The B.S.A.A. in Stoneville had got the power running to run a small base."
==================================================
Jake glanced over at the young redhead, before shrugging. "Yeah, I know Clarissa. I guess you can say I'm her illegit guardian. Why?" he asked, eyeing one of the shuffling undead little ways away in the store they were inhabiting.
They were much too far away to have heard any commotion with the others.

Lucy felt her stomach fold in on itself. She remembered Carlos, shooting at the animals... being bitten. Telling her to find Clarissa and then offing himself so that he wouldn't turn into a zombie. Her eyes teared up a bit as the rounded the corner. Up ahead, the food court loomed, though it was eerily quiet.
"Carlos ask me to make sure she was okay. He di... died in Stoneville. I guess they were together looking for stuff but got separated. I guess tell her that he died saving me."
Tears filled her eyes and the guilt pressed down on her. If it wasn't for her, he'd still be alive.

Mikey looked between the pair for a moment, his shotgun still trained near their position. They could be telling the truth. Probably were telling the truth. But what were the odds of the BSAA being here? When the woman chimed in about a BSAA base in town, he stopped.
“The BSAA is here?” He said with disbelief. “I’ve been here for days, how long has the camp been up?” He asked, more curiosity in his voice than suspicion. He took his finger out of the trigger guard and stood to his full height instead of being hunkered down and ready for a gunfight. He let his shotgun hang from its sling, even if he wasn’t quite convinced enough to take his hand off the grip.

Anna shrugged a bit. "Well it's set up in the Police Department, been there for about a year and a half so far. They try to keep a low profile against Tricell and rogue mercs... " she began, thinking back. "I think Lt. Chase told me recently that there was a power outage there for about a week or so, I'm assuming that they managed to get the power grid running again."
"Maybe you should show him your badge," Rich told Anna. After she showed it to him, Richard mentioned, "A B.S.A.A run camp was destroyed not too far from here just the other night, so we had to relocate here. It's a bit of a mess." It was a bit of an understatement really. They didn't have a bodycount, lost most of their weapons probably, and were overstocked and undermanned at the police station. People would be better off if they went their seperate ways rather than be packed in.

"But that's all beside the point, look, we're not Raiders. I'm sure you know that by now. We're just trying to get some stuff together for a wedding and probably get some ammo from the hunting shop. We'll be out of your hair when we do that," Anna told the man before leanding out her hand to shake his.
"I'm Anna McGraw, btw. This is my friend, Richard Holden," she told him, introducing themselves. ================================================================
Jake quickly looked back at the young woman when she informed him of the man's death. Clarissa had been whining at him to help her find him but when they didn't, he made her go back to the station with him where it was safe. Now he felt like a pr*ck.
Running a hand through his hair, he sighed. "Damn...Clarissa's gonna take that hard," he told Lucy, his mind wandering off to think of how he was gonna break the news to her when they got back.
As he did, Chase called over to them, a map in hand. "Hey, I found another map in the Accessories store... eh? Who's that?" he asked, squinting his eyes to see the older redhead and Rich on the other side of floor, two catwalks down with some one else.

Lucy looked over at Chase and then back at where he was looking. At the jewelry store, Anna and Richard were talking with someone else.
"Oh just some big dude with a shotgun", she said with a glance. She started forward toward the food court when she stopped with a gasp.
"We need to back up very quietly and slowly", she whispered, almost in a whimper. The food court was at a lower level and Lucy was just close enough to the edge that she could see down into it.
The ground was moving... more of a swarming, like ants in an ant hill. Undead filled the court, moving all around. The escalators that led down were broken, but mounds of the undead were writhing upwards, drawn by the smell of human flesh.

Mikey listened in silence as the two explained the situation with the BSAA. Maybe it was a good thing that he hadn’t found the camps they talked about. One was gone, one was short on people and he was betting it would be going down soon. Ya, he was better off on his own or in a small group that wasn’t staying in one place for too long. Hell, he’d only been here for the supplies it held, as well as the fact that he had several escape options.
He listened to the woman speak, taking her hand and shaking it absently, thinking over her words. Was he hearing her right?
“Did you say wedding?” He asked. A wedding? Really? Wow… Whoever the pair were who were getting married, they must have really loved each other. A wedding in this?
